Great happy hour! We appreciated having several food and drink options to choose from. The poke was delicious, and the smash burger was incredible. The local catch dip was also really good. Our server was excellent and helped us navigate the GF menu items. My only complaints were the small biting bugs on the patio and that both of our happy hour drinks were a bit bitter. My first time here and I brought family here for there first meal in Hawaii. I was very impressed! I wanted them to have a meal with an ocean view. The view alone makes this place worth a visit. The food is also solid. We ordered all our food at the same time but for some reason received our bread and salad after the main course, which was somewhat disappointing but fine. They are know for the sea bass which was excellent. The crispy octopus was perfect. Our server was new and still fretting the hang of things. I usually feel embarrassed, knowing what items are on the menu and having to ask questions, but she made me feel very comfortable. My boyfriend enjoyed the Smashburger and he usually eats a lot, but he was surprisingly full. Very convenient after golfing at Wailea. Making a reservation on Open table is super convenient to do. Just make sure you are able to show up due to their cancellation fees. There's bar seating and regular seating available. It's open air. Option to sit outside or inside. We had mixed experiences here throughout the years that we visit. Food is super good here. Always good. The burger is great. The poke is yummy! We just tried the grilled cheese and that was Ono too! The staff however can vary, depending on who you have. Came in with high expectations, but unfortunately this one missed the mark across the board. The Kung-Pao Calamari sounded like it would bring some heat and bold flavor, but it landed flat--more soggy than crispy and the sauce lacked that punch you'd expect from ginger-hoisin. The Crispy Brussels were also a letdown; they had a decent texture but were super mild, and the vinaigrette didn't really add anything memorable aside from a greasy taste. We ordered the Hoku Kai Seafood Salad which looked fresh, but the flavors just didn't come together--everything tasted muted and incredibly under-seasoned. The vinaigrette tasted mainly like oil, no other flavors. Same story with the Ahi Au Poivre, which should've been the standout, was in our experience didn't elevate it and was a genuine miss. Overall, nothing was outright bad, just very forgettable and lacking flavor for the price point. The embarrassment was this was intended for a birthday dinner, no dessert menus were offered. Rating of 2/5, disappointed and will not recommend or try again. read more

Beautiful open feeling when you step into Gather in the Wailia Golf Club grounds offering spectacular views of the course and the Pacific ocean. Wasn't too busy around four PM and we sat in the outside deck in the shade. Maui Caesar Salad & Maui Pineapple BBQ pork ribs on the happy hour menu(3-5pm daily )were one of the best deals we found while dining out on our trip. Salad @$8 was freshly made with garlic croutons , White anchovy ,house made dressing was a good starter. The pork ribs were tasty, messy but not a lot of meat on them. Side slaw was tasty. Gather Mai Tai with Kula light & dark rum and a plethora of fresh juices was refreshing and so good it required a 2nd round.(also on HH menu @$10) Good service allowed us to relax and take in the nature beauty without feeling rushed or being neglected. This may be the best happy hour secret in Maui! The views are gorgeous- the price is so good - the food and drinks were delicious! We went looking for Gannon's and found Gather's instead. Same gorgeous open air restaurant and expansive Pacific Ocean views just a new name and new Happy Hour menu. Apparently, Beverly Gannon, renowned restauranteur and author, sold Gannon's a few years ago to the Gather Group. Mid June, the restaurant had few patrons. Possibly because of tourist backlash or maybe reticence coming back to Maui after the Lahina fire. Who knows. We sat outside and enjoyed the cool breeze and incredibly romantic views. My pre-meal cocktail was an interesting mai tai which contained something like lime haupia flavored whipped cream. Service was quite attentive and we were checked on regularly. This location is one of our most favorite spots on the island. read more

We live here and had guests in from the mainland. I made my reservation on line and then my cousin reminded me to ask for "the rail" for sunset viewing. I left a voice mail and also made a notation on my reservation to modify it. I got a message back that said "Got it, thank you", so I presumed that meant we got it changed. We arrived and our table was on the porch, but the trees were completely blocking our view. I was very disappointed, especially considering there was another table right next to ours that would have afforded us at least a partial view. We were less than thrilled when a party of 7, with 5 children, were seated there. Our server, Kalehua, was courteous, but not attentive. Her other table had their order taken and got their food before she got around to taking our order. As for the food, I enjoyed my fillet and my husband liked his short ribs. Our out of town guests did not enjoy thier food, and left much of it uneaten. They did like their drinks and did enjoy the creme brule. We had the banana cheesecake and it was good, with the exception of the rubbery bananas on top. Overall a very underwhelming experience. I will not be bringing guests anymore, but my husband and I did enjoy our meals and we love the bread service, so we may come back someday. read more

This is one of the better restaurants in the Kiehi area. The grounds and property are beautiful giving you the true 'old' Hawaiian feeling. The Hawaiian Ono and Ahi was prepared perfectly. We were looking for a place away from the Kaanapali Beach where we had been eating all week. We decided to drive to Wailea. Nestled in the lush greenery and coated with flowering bushes a beautiful golf course with the restaurant. I found the Gathering on Maui online when looking for dining with the best view, at first I was sure how we were going to see the water because we were driving away from it, but then we saw the view. It was breathtaking! The staff were amazing and recommended dishes we loved. It is on the pricier side but well worth the price and drive. Happy hour visit. The wife and I ordered Mai Tai's. Strong and tasty, not a fan of the lime haupia foam. The waitress suggested a citrus non alcoholic drink with fizz and cinnamon. A hit. Ordered the Beet Poke, Maui Garden Salad, and the BBQ Pork Ribs. We liked the Beet Poke the best. Similar flavor to a fish poke with good texture and flavor. Served over a bed of brown rice. The Garden Salad had good ingredients, we would have liked the vinaigrette to be more intense. The ribs were cooked really well but the sauce was not special. Great service and location. read more

We FINALLY had a great meal in Maui! We started to think that you couldn't get well-seasoned food in the island. We're staying at Andaz and the hotel food is awful and have visited a few restaurants but have been disappointed until now. I had the beet poke and my husband had the burger. We also shared the Brussels sprouts. It was all delicious-- especially our pineapple cake for dessert. We had great service from Cierra and we were lucky to sit at a table with a magnificent view. We enjoyed a 80th birthday celebration with our good friends in March 2025, where I was fortunate to capture the attached picture. By-the-glass wine selections were very nice, which I consider a key aspect of a high-end restaurant. The menu was sufficiently varied, but we were insistent on eating fish. Unfortunately, most of the fresh fish available on the island that month seemed to be Mahi Mahi. Even so, our dishes were well prepared. We returned a week later for the happy hour -- which didn't turn out to be all that attractive an offering in my opinion -- but we enjoyed ourselves, nonetheless. Our waiter was very accommodating, attentive, and highly interactive, which the girls in our party appreciated. The patio looks out over the golf course and other greenery. My family loved coming to this restaurant multiple times for the Happy Hour menu, the incredible views, and friendly wait staff! The Spicy Ahi Poke Nachos were by far the family favorite menu item, as well as the Beet Poke Bowl. We also enjoyed the Piña on The Rocks drink and the Mai Tai! I made reservations to celebrate my wife's 60th BDay! I knew the view was amazing as we dined here when it was the Seawatch many years ago. I read the reviews and was hoping we would have a great experience on again as Gather and we were not disappointed. First, we got a table with a wonderful view of molokini and Kahoolawe and Lanai. We enjoyed the sunset as we dined and even saw whales in the distance. (Story for another time). HH started us off right with Mai Tais, Piña on the rocks and caliente wey. We also enjoyed the spicy ahi poke nachos and hurricane fries. For entrees, we ordered Charred Ponzu glazed mahi mahi, the uala catch marlin, mochiko chicken katsu and seafood salad. All were delicious! marlin can be a little tough but this was well prepared with garlic cream sauce and sweet potatoes- the sauce was amazing! We also ordered the coconut corn polenta side which was so good! For dessert we were gifted the pineapple upside down cake. It was unanimous - the best ever upside down cake!
