That search finally ended when we found Smokey Lips BBQ. Chef Adam makes the best BBQ this side of Kansas City - seriously. His food is always excellent and made with great care. Last year for Thanksgiving we ordered his smoked turkey, and we have vowed never to spend a Thanksgiving without one if we can. The only complaint I have about Smokey Lips BBQ is that I can't get it whenever we want it, which isn't really a complaint, but a compliment! But in this era, it's a nice reminder that good things take time, and some gems are meant to be savored whenever you have the chance. Then comes the menu, quite a lot of dishes that you would typically get at a Mexican restaurant and some that seem to be new. The birria ramen which lately have been seeing at loads of Mexican restaurant. Of course as it was Tuesday, we came for the tacos. Before you walked in, there's a board that says tacos Tuesday, 4 tacos for 10.00. Thats a deal that's worth it. Either chicken, al pastor, chorizo and buche. Of course that was needed. We wasn't quite sure what buche was so opted out from that. Started off with a cold beer as they have draft and price was quite nice. 2 order of the tacos, one with 2 chicken and 2 al pastor while the other was 2 al pastor, 1 chorizo and 1 chicken. When the dish came out, it was well plated. You usually see just the tacos alone but it was plated with slices of cucumber, radish, grilled onions and grilled chili peppers. Quite nice. And of course I had to try their birra ramen. Seems lately that Mexicans restaurant are incorporating that dish to their menu. I'm also on the hunt for the best...lol... This dish too was quite tasty. Pretty decent bowl full of broth and loads of meat. Served with a side of onions and cilantro and lime slices. The color was nice. Had a dish a while back where the color of the broth was pretty light and watery. This place was nice. The tacos were very tasty both the chicken and al pastor which also had slices of pineapple added. Chicken was flavorful and chorizo was goods. Onions and cilantro also added but asked beforehand if we wanted them. Beforehand, three different salsa was brought out, spicy medium and mild. Wow, both the spicy (red) and medium (green) were delicious. The right amount of spicy and perfect for the tacos. Food was delicious both the ramen and tacos. It's with the 10.00 for the four tacos and birria ramen was tasty and delicious. Worth it. Glad that we found this place. And the staff, all very sweet and very friendly. When the food arrived, I was concerned by the very light weight in the bag. I reached in and pulled out a cardboard clamshell box. Opening the box, there were 10 chicken nuggets. For comparison, they were smaller than McDonald's nuggets. I looked at the receipt and saw that I had ordered chicken tenders. Written at the bottom of the receipt, someone wrote "I added two more tenders because they were small." They added a :) I was not smiling. I have never seen a chicken tender that is as small as these nuggets. To me, a chicken tender is a cutlet of chicken. So, I went to the look at the website for pictures. The pictures of the tenders were exactly what I was expecting. Now, I'm heated. So, I look in the other bag to fish out the side dishes. Both of the containers were so small. Each held maybe two tablespoons of macaroni and cheese or cole slaw. I'll bet if I emptied two of the sauce containers into this side container, it would fill it. Tea was fine. Hard to mess that up. The only reason I gave more than just one star was the two sauces. Both were excellent. I'm not usually one for sauces, but these small overcooked chicken nuggets needed some moisture. I saved the extra two sauces for later! I was really hoping for a new place to frequent, but I won't be giving this a second chance. (I did submit a request to GrubHub regarding the bait and switch. They did refund me part of my order, which I appreciated.)
