Only checked on us once halfway through our food and I told her they forgot that egg add-on for my dish. Never brought the egg but still tried to charge me for the egg when she brought the checks. Not apologtic at all, would have more empathy if she at least apologized for some of these errors. And even worse, she pre populated an 18% tip. Honestly pretty awful experience with Harper. I never write such harsher reviews and have had such a wonderful service experience at all the restaurants in Calgary so this was a uniquely bad experience. read more

We popped in here, conveniently after we had walked around Lake Louise since it was so cold we wanted to have something warm. The restaurant is located inside the ski resort. It was the closest thing to Asian food in the area. My wife ordered the grizzly bear roll and that consisted of salmon in the middle and smoked salmon on top. The sushi literally just fell apart when we picked it up and the rice felt kind of old. Which was strange because we ordered a few Nigiri pieces and the texture of the rice between the two were different. I also ordered a Tonkatsu ramen. It was neither nor good nor bad it did the job. Fresh, delicious ramen and sushi on a ski mountain! Very friendly staff, delicious food made to order, and wide variety of drinks - and of course, amazing views. Really nicely decorated space, incredibly clean and well-maintained considering it's at the base of a ski resort. Highly recommend for a lunch pit stop or après meal! read more

Kuma Yama was pretty solid overall. The tonkotsu ramen and tantanmen both tasted good, but the noodles were a bit overcooked, which was kind of a bummer. Rolls were decent, nothing amazing. Drinks were actually really good though -- loved the Shiso Mule! Definitely on the pricey side, but for a ski resort spot, it's one of the better options around. Would come back, especially for drinks after skiing. read more

I was on a ramen kick while on this trip. I had the tonkatsu ramen. It had two pieces of pork belly, bok choy, and bamboo shoots. Egg was extra so I didn't get it. The ramen bowl was really good for a ski resort. Very flavorful and perfect while taking a break from snowboarding. They don't take the ikon pass for discounts. read more

Came here after a long day of snowboarding. It was definitely warming to have some ramen after a snowy day. The restaurant was right by the skit lifts so it was convenient to get to. It could've been a bit more spacious knowing there are a lot of people still wearing gear whole eating. I got the spicy tonkatsu ramen. It was decent enough to satisfy me but it definitely wasn't authentic ramen. Price point Is what you'd expect from a ski resort so no surprise there. Also got the mango ice cream. It was alright. It was enough to satisfy me so that's fine. I forgot our server's name but he was really nice and funny. Made the experience of eating there a bit better. read more

Wow I was really surprised by Kuma Yama - what a spot! We had meh conditions at Lake Louise when we visited, so we turned in early for lunch. There's of course the usual grab and go situation, but Kuma Yama is a sit down restaurant where you have a server (you can of course wear all your snow garb). We were worried that prices would be outrageous for a sit down restaurant on the mountain, but the ramen was basically the same price as a hot dog or burger downstairs (and tasted way better too). We ordered gyoza to share (comes with 6) and then two tonkatsu ramens, two of the tan tans and one rainbow roll for 5 people. The ramen was so delicious - great flavor in the broth and chew to the noodles. The pork belly is not a lot but it's thick and had a good bite to it. I didn't taste the sushi as it was the entree for one of the members in my group, but the fish looked fresh and she said it tasted great. Is it the best ramen ever? Probably not and the bowls are not huge, but for mountain food - this was definitely a win. 5/5 recommend! read more

I really like this place- Lake Louise Ski Resort- as it has something for everyone. And I am a VERY PICKY PERSON so its rare Im happy with everything. OK if I needed to nitpick I hate the fact that the ladies room is so far away from everything - its on the second floor while the mens is much more conveniently located on the first floor, right beside where you would park all your crap by your locker (whether you are renting a locker by the DAY or for the full season like me, its definitely where you would go to start putting on your gear. Therefore much more convenient to have the bathroom on the same floor. Only the women get to stomp up about 60 more stairs - and I promise you will need it because if like me you are the only female in your family of 4 skiers and all the men have emptied their bladders, you don't want to be the one to screw w everyones timing and ask for a bathroom break while you are on the back bowls. It could take literally 90 minutes before you see a place to take a break, I'm not kidding. Anyway I love it here, the prices are totally crazy but you should expect that if you are a skier. If you want to save money you could bring some dried soups in those large bowls and just get some hot water from the caf. Problem solved ! Or if you want to splurge I recommend the amazing sushi place, Kuma Yama at the top of the stairs, they have a REAL FIREPLACE to dry your wet mitts and amazing staff and great food. Totally tiny portions but you cant be perfect. I like it so much there, with the fire and the great view, its difficult to suit up afterwards and get back on the mountain- thats the only time Ive ever felt like that in my life :) Thanks to the lovely staff we met there 2 days ago, you all made my day and that saki was PERFECT to warm me up and take off all the chills!!!! My kids adored their Ramen and hubby and I love the sushi and sashimi !!!! I never ever thought I would order sushi in such a landlocked space, I was totally worried about freshness but it turns out Ive found a new favourite restaurant !!! PS If you are looking for a restaurant locally; Whatever you do, NEVER go to the Calgary restaurant The Guild. Foods are okay. But staffs are just very rude, no greetings, no communication except when we order and receiving bills. Whats funny is that they are friendlier towards the white table. read more
