*Late review* Came here at the ending of last year. Walking around the Banff town and heard good things about this place on social media and we saw the line was long outside so maybe there was some hype? The inside is very small and everyone sits around the conveyor belt. It is first come first serve so plan ahead if you wanna beat the lunch/dinner rushes. We went around 1:30 and it took us maybe ~40 minutes to get seated for a party of six (we didn't want to be separated). There is a sushi chef in the middle who makes the sushi right in front of you which is pretty entertaining. As for ordering, you can either ask the chef or your server. They are always putting different things on the conveyor belt so there is always an assortment of sushi to try. We weren't a fan of the sashimi but we did order a lot of the rolls. Their spicy ahi is different from what we're used to - it's just plain ahi with a drop of sriracha on top. Our favorite roll was probably the deep fried shrimp roll and California roll. You can't go wrong with that. We ordered the seaweed salad and potato croquette a couple of times. Price wise it's pretty expensive for the amount and quality that you get. All the food on the menu ranges from about $4.95-$7.95. IMO you're paying for the experience - sushi chef in front of you, conveyor belt, plates on a sushi train. There is one server for the restaurant because the seating area is so small, but the staff in general is pleasant. It's OK but hits the spot if you want a little sushi fix. read more

Ok, so I was a bit apprehensive about this place because of it being "revolving sushi"; however, I was pleasantly surprised! You won't find an extensive menu with lots of fancy rolls, but you can get some delicious salmon, yellowtail, or tuna. They also make shrimp tempura rolls, California rolls, and desserts. My favorite was the atomic mayo tuna, so good! My husband enjoyed the scallop. The staff here is so friendly. It's a tiny spot, so depending on when you go you might have to wait. I'm not even exaggerating, out of every sushi place I've gone to in my life, this is hands down the best sushi I've ever had. It's so fresh and sooooo amazing I can't even describe it. I have never eaten this much in one sitting. Not only is the food the best thing in the world (I am no longer in canada and I still am thinking about this sushi daily) but the atmosphere was so happy and light hearted. The fish they used was very fresh. The items are a bit pricy as expected in the Banff area and with a fun conveyor belt sushi set up. You can order directly from the menu or grab things off the conveyor belt. The sushi easily ends up being $3/piece which can add up. After a full day of hiking, we were craving something light and healthy to continue our trek. Sushi was the perfect stop as we came by for dinner. The two of us had to wait about 5 minutes until we were seated since the restaurant is very small and fits only about 20 people. The restaurant is arranged in a counter-top seating circling the sushi chefs that were preparing the sushi onto the train. I really enjoy conveyor belt-style places because it makes the experience a bit more fun although some items might be left out there unwanted and old after awhile. Since I was not too hungry, I liked that the sushi came in small portions, which allowed me to try more items before reaching my capacity. For nigiris, I had a tuna one and salmon one. Although pretty yummy, I did not like that the rice was falling apart so easily. I was barely able to get the nigiris into my mouth before the rice splattered all over my plate and counter. I also had a spicy tuna roll and tempura roll, which were a much better choice here since the rice is so weak. I'd definitely stick to the rolls instead. Each item is priced by the color of the plate, which ranges from $3.50 to $7.15 CAD. From my 4 plates, my total came out to a little over $20. Pretty awesome little find in Banff! This place fulfilled our cravings for some lighter food, after several days of burgers and poutine. Located a little bit off Banff Avenue, we found a line of a 3 parties ahead of us, standing outside. Always wary of wait times and a little skeptical about the quality of the fish vs. the novelty of the conveyor belt, I actually came away pretty satisfied with the whole experience! The fish quality is pretty good, the price certainly fair (it came out to $38 USD for two people, less than I would have paid in TX), and the sushi chef is a marvel to watch as he prepares the rolls in the middle of the oval where all the diners are gathered around. You can make requests to him if your preferred roll is not circulating on the train-conveyor belt. The chef and the staff are definitely welcoming and have a sense of humor. This is our second visit here since we came to Banff about 2 years ago. If you are ever in Banff and you are craving for sushi then this is the place - best sushi in town! It's a tiny restaurant just like those fast food conveyor belt sushi places in Tokyo with the counter seats except this one has an electrical train! It's a really fun way to eat sushi. The place is super tiny that seats about 15 people. If you have a big party group, then I would not recommend this place. It can be a bit pricey since it's easy to keep ordering and taking the plates off the train - note plate of 2 pieces of sushi is around $4 to $6 (by colour plates). When you finish, the server will count your plates to total your bill. Be sure to try the California rolls which has real crab meats - very yummy! The white tuna was also very tasty. read more

After several years, I returned to Banff and took in one of my favorite Japanese restaurants, The Sushi House. It still retains its small intimate charm with the familiar sushi train that always enhances your dining experience with its wide selection of choice sushi dishes and for desserts creme brûlée or 5 types of ice cream one of my favorites being black sesame. This time we had mango. Our selections ranged from edamame beans, ginger, tuna and avocado rolls, Ikura (salmon roe on top of sushi rice wrapped around in seaweed, spicy tuna rolls, 2 types of shrimp sushi, spicy octopus and salmon sushi. As usual the place was full and the service was excellent. What I like about the restaurant is that you can put in special requests directly with the sushi makers in front of you. The place is always clean and enhanced by two overhead tv screens with two different sports channels. No news channels to bum you out. Of course, the real fun is picking off your dish directly from the sushi train and not having to wait. The food is always fresh. The hostess is very good at checking in on you. Overall, I am raising my rating for the Sushi House and can hardly wait to return. read more

I came to have sushi at this place thanks to my friend's recommendation. It was actually a fun visit! You seat in a round table where the chef stands in the middle and prepares sushi right in front of you. He prepares a dish and puts the plate in a train that moves around the table. You get a menu so you can identify what's on each plate, or you can also ask the server or the chef. If there is something in the menu that you don't see in the train, you can always ask the chef to prepare it for you. Each plate has its own price according to the color. You'll pay according to the number of dishes you eat, the server will count them for you. This place is very small so you might need to wait and line up for a while. Luckily we didn't have to wait for too long because it was a little cold and we were lining up outside of the restaurant. I'll definitely come back to this place on my next visit to Banff read more

This is probably the coolest sushi place I have ever been too. I love the use of the train that goes around with plates of freshly made sushi. Prices are organized by plate colour. The food was good. I only had a few things. But the prices are reasonable. But most of all, the experIence is so worth it and so relevant to the local area. We visited Sushi House as a suggestion of a friend and OMG now this is my favorite Sushi place ever! Everything about this place is great. When we arrived the place was packed so we had to wait few minutes. Here you have to decide to seat all together or to split the group. Fortunately we got four seat together so it was perfect. The concept of this place is that the chefs cook just in front of you and place the plates with rolls, sashimi or other goodies on top of a train. You will receive a menu so you will be able to identify what is passing in front of you on top of the wagons and decide if that is the roll you want to try. Prices are marked as per color of the plate, you will have to keep all your places so the server can count them at the end of your meal and charge you as per the number and color of plates. The food was really really good, if you prefer low sodium soy sauce, just ask to the server, because is not that popular you will not see it in front f you. you also have the option of order from the menu instead of wait to see if the train will bring what you want. I came here twice during the same visit to Banff as I'm love to this place. If you are looking for a quick meal but tasty and a nice and cool environment this is the place for you. They also have couple of screens in case that's important for you. Bathrooms were clean and well organized. Along with Chaya, Sushi House was another spot in Banff that really crushed expectations for Asian food in this area - I don't understand how they could only have so few reviews, but I'm glad I'm boosting this spot early on before all the other glowing reviews come rolling in. We got here, got seated immediately, picked our food off the train, and ordered a Salmon Cali Roll from the chef. It didn't come immediately, but watching him work made the experience more joyful. The chef balanced all requests with ease. For a shop with just 3 employees (chef, cashier/waitress, and helping hand in the kitchen), they run a tight ship - things just keep rolling along, and people keep showing up to eat. My wife and I stopped in here for lunch on valentines day. The place was busy but there was room for 2 more. The place is small, everyone sits around an oval in the middle of the room. The chef is in the middle working like a mad man putting out small plates of sushi one at a time. The best part is he places them on a train car that continues to circle around and around. I liked the train vs the traditional boats because we are in the Rocky Mountains. I like this place because it is FAST. U sit down and u are eating in seconds. We had 2 beers and left with a respectable bill of $44. The food was delicious and fresh. We got to watch another chef come out with a 30? Pound piece of tuna and cut it up In front of us. Best sushi in banff! The shining star was surprisingly the yam roll (4.25) one of the less expensive choices. The Cali salmon and spicy tuna were also very tasty. What makes this place stand apart is the quality of their sushi rice , and secondly the quality of their fish. The sushi chefs prepare the food in the center of the restaurant before your eyes, as a model train circles the customers, small plates of rolls passing by for you to choose from and take as you please. You can also order rolls on request. The only thing I'd say is that this is not a place to come with a big group of friends like I did... the restaurant is small and more suited to solo or couple diners. I'd estimate there are only 20 or so sears around the train and there are various other customers peppered in that circle so getting seats together would be very unlikely which takes away from the experience. read more

We eat here every day when we're In banff!! We love the convenience of it, and very neat to watch the chefs prepare the food right in front of you. Everything tastes fresh and the rice is perfect, I hate the thick, tasteless rice at chain sushi places. I came here after visiting Mount Sulphur because my friend and I were craving sushi. It's in a nice location- many other restaurants and shops in the area. It's right in the centre of Downtown Banff. Seating is bar-style, with the chefs in the middle making the sushi. There is a train that goes around and depending on what colour plate you pick up, that determines the price. The staff were very nice and would always ask if we wanted anything made to order. It's also a nice spot to come on your own, which I noticed a few people were there solo. When it comes to Japanese restaurants, you just can't beat these smaller shops like this one where there's only 3 people working. The sushi train concept is usually just a gimmick but with this one they actually have a toy train on a track pulling flat carts where they should it the sushi plate on. Much cooler than the typical conveyor belt style trains. The sushi chef was always asking everyone if they wanted anything in particular and would make us fresh plates upon request even if there already were existing pieces on the train. The scallop was surprising not counted as the most expensive. I couldn't get enough of the scallops! Will definitely come again next time I'm here! Highly recommended. read more

Chou Chou le petit train. Conveyor belt sushi restaurant also known as sushi train per my Aussie friends. In this restaurant, the term sushi train is literally being applied. A small train circuit is being used to go around with all sorts of sushi. Very amusing and cute at the same time. Spots are very limited and can easily get crowded. Didn't expect much food wise, but everything we got was delicious. The pork dumplings were amazingly good, nice fried crust on the outside, moist and not chewey at all. Edamame were good. The eel wasn't overly sweet. Lastly the tuna and salmon tasted so fresh. How fresh you ask; let's just say I didn't need no sauce to hide the fishy taste. If sushi is on your mind, come and check out Sushi House. Trust me, I underestimated the place and would definitely return when I do visit Banff. My kids were craving sushi and was intrigued by the conveyor belt sushi train. We walked in on a monday night around 8pm with a party of 5 and were seated right away. Maybe 20-25 seats around the bar and thats it. Was at about 70% capacity during our meal. Ambiance: Very low key. Now booth, just counter. Very simple decor. There is an actual train on a track in which the sushi is loaded on. Not great for large parties. Service: Great. There is a girl that gets your drink orders and handles the check. Two sushi chefs and 1 guy in the back. They will make you whatever sushi you need and it comes out pretty fast. Seems like most of the people were ordering directly from them, but they tried to keep the train full. Food: Not an extensive menu. They only offer 4-6 rolls. There are a few non sushi items. Not a lot of exotic fishes. Price ranges from $5-8 a plate. We opted for mostly the $8. Loved the fatty salmon and tuna. The yellowtail was just ok. We stuck mostly to nigri. They didn't have uni. I'd never been to a sushi train restaurant and really wanted to try it. It is a small restaurant and had heard it was popular so we got there fairly early. The sushi chef said we'd have to wait about 5-10 mins. As soon as a spot opened up we started eating immediately. The train concept was fun and both the server and chef were very nice. The chef asked us multiple times if we wanted something else added to the menu. He was quick and added different selections consistently. I loved the scallop rolls and eel the best.
