I tried the float, cryo and sauna combo on a discount first time deal and didn't feel the benefits. The float water felt slimey and was irritating to my skin. I got out before the session was supposed to conclude. I also tried a 90 minute full body massage and wasn't impressed. There's no verbal communication before the massage starts, instead you fill out a chart for the body resembling what chiropractors use. The therapist was clearly trained in some sort of massage and responded to requests for less pressure but didn't check in with me as they usually do. He didn't have a plan and did some things unilaterally instead of on both sides. I was face down for 65 out of 90 minutes and only turned over at my request. He neglected most body areas except the back and arms. They have an odd sign in the massage rooms stating to alert the front desk within 10 minutes if you're not happy with your therapist. Never seen that before and has to be because people frequently aren't delighted by what they're experiencing. Won't be returning. read more

My husband and I got a couples massage. On Valentines day. You'd think it would be the worst day to get a massage, that the therapists would be tired...But both of the therapists were excellent. We came out relaxed and giddy. What a great experience. I wish I knew the names of our therapists but I believe both were Chinese. They had excellent knowledge of the body and how to release tension. Just phenomenal. The only downside was much pressure to 'add on' various things from the front desk. But I don't blame them. It's tough running a business. I bet add-ons are a great way to increase sales. The scrubbing was not satisfactory, and the sanitary conditions were terrible. The scrubbing bed was dangerous to get on or off. Don't bother with the hair massage and mask; they charge $20, but you're better off washing your hair and doing a mask at home. The front desk didn't understand that we wanted to scrub together. She made one appointment for both of us, but we had to wait for each person to finish scrubbing individually. My friend and I visited in October for my birthday and booked body scrubs with back-to-back time slots (12 PM and 1 PM). A few days prior, we called to ask if we could go in together, and we were told that would be fine. However, this information was clearly not communicated to the front desk staff the day of our appointment. We arrived on time for the first slot and were brought in together as planned. While we were getting ready, staff rushed into the room, saying they were running late for their next client -- even though one of us was the next scheduled customer. We were told to hurry up while undressing, which was uncomfortable and stressful. What was meant to be a relaxing birthday experience ended up feeling rushed and unpleasant, as though we were a burden. I couldn't help but wonder if our age played a role in how we were treated. To make matters worse, the same materials were used on both of us during the scrub. This resulted in my face being scratched and caused me to develop dermatitis afterward. I took that to mean if you have never been to the spa you would get an intro price but that's only if you buy their $99/yearly fee. And they are so slick to add an extra $5 service charge. I scheduled two 90-minute appointments for 3:00 PM. Shortly before arrival, I received a call informing me that both therapists were running late, and the new start time would be 3:15 PM. I arrived at 3:10 PM, but the therapists were not available until 3:36 PM. I was taken to an outdoor massage area that was dimly lit and had an unpleasant odor. Despite that, I was hopeful and looking forward to the session. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but relaxing. Employees were speaking loudly on the phone and laughing, someone nearby took a FaceTime call, and there was a TV or radio playing. The noise completely disrupted the atmosphere. While Kevin, my therapist, was kind and did a good job technically, he did not speak or understand English, which made communication difficult. I kept asking if we were almost done, but he couldn't respond. After the massage, I went to the front desk to pay and inquired if my friend had arrived. I was told she never showed up and didn't call. I immediately called her in front of the receptionist, and she explained that while trying to find parking, someone had attempted to assault her. The receptionist could clearly hear our conversation, but showed no empathy or concern. Instead, she stated that there would be a 50% cancellation fee--charged as if the session were still 90 minutes. I was honestly shocked. This was supposed to be my friend's first visit to KUME. Thankfully, she didn't go through with it, because the level of service was unacceptable. Nel (I may have the name wrong), the woman who initially checked me in, was extremely rude, passive-aggressive, and dismissive. She lacked both basic listening skills and empathy. The charge is not the issue! It's the experience during the massage, lack of customer service, accountability, and business etiquette. I've gotten services here over the last 7 years. I came in today for a Korean body scrub because there was a 35% off deal. The entire service lasted less than 40 minutes start to finish including the sauna portion. I have had the scrub in the past and I came out feeling like I had a new skin and was legit a few shades lighter. This time though, it seems like shrinkflation has stuck again. The lady barely moved my limbs, didn't get my inner thighs, didn't get my armpits, barely scrubbed my elbows, and my feet are essentially untouched. I recall my face getting gently exfoliated in the past and that didn't happen. I told the people at the front desk that I felt like I needed to go home and do it all myself and they didn't even ask me what was wrong with the service or how it could have been better. If I could put it at zero I would, I just came from here today with my boyfriend and we had the most disgusting experience. The lady masseuse who massaged my boyfriend gave him a leg massage that was a little too close for comfort.. She kept gracing the tip of his (in the least weird way possible) member, I'm upset he waited till we left to say something to me or I would have a had a word. He also left with a sty in his left eye. I wish I knew the name of his masseuse. My massage wasn't the greatest, I requested a light massage and the lady patted my whole body pretty much the whole time. After the sauna my friend and i turned on the water for literally 60 seconds, mostly to wet the hand towel to then wipe my body off with, didn't even sit under the water. I have been interested in trying a Korean style scrub, and when the Groupon appeared I immediately purchased it. Making the appointment was a breeze, I called the shop, selected the date and time and received a confirmation text the day I booked as well as a reminder the day before the service. Parking can be challenging. The shop is on Grand Ave. with only metered street parking. You can try your luck and look in the neighborhoods but most of that fills up quickly. The front space is very bright and filled with numerous trinkets. I arrived about 10 minutes early to check-in then had a cup of tea while I browsed through the abundance of merchandise. I quickly realized this is a very popular place, while waiting 3 other individuals checked in after me. I believe Tam completed my service. She led me down the hallway to a mid-size room and provided me a basket for my clothes. My experience began with 15 minutes in the infrared sauna, I think it could hold two people max and it heated up quickly. I was then led to the table where several rounds of scrubbing, cleansing and buckets of warm water doused over me. I enhance the service with the coconut salt scrub and it felt amazing. I think oil was also applied because when I took my final rinse it was quite an effort to clean everything off and I still had a light sheen atop my body. I was going to get a body scrub at another location for $90 and then saw the Groupon for Kume and decided to give it a try! It did not disappoint. At traditional Korean spas you can be in a big shower room with other people getting body scrubs. It's an effective process, but definitely not relaxing. I also don't really care to use the spa amenities at those big spas. At Kume, you have nice private room with a private sauna. That was perfect for me. The woman who did my scrub was very nice. She ensured i was comfortable throughout the process and I was so grateful for that. The one thing I really missed was my head and hair wash. Typically it's included at other Korean spas, but here it's not and that was disappointing. Even when paying full price (not Groupon), it is still an additional (and significant) charge. As others mentioned, there is also a weird $5 fee -- why not just up your prices $5? Overall, for the Groupon price I'd give it 5 stars, but if I had to pay full price it would be 4. read more

As a new client I booked with a receptionist who was very nice on the phone but didn't bother to ask me if I preferred a male or female therapist for my scrub and massage. Even though no one asked me (and how would I know to ask). it was my first time there and every other spa I've ever gone to automatically puts you with same gender therapists. Finally they agreed to reschedule the massage another day without a charge but they were so rude and gaslighty that I literally started crying! Not a good start to my spa experience. It is nowhere close to a Korean scrub- you are in an infrared sauna for like 15 Min and barely start to sweat when the person comes and puts your naked ass on a cold table and starts the "scrub" which isn't much different from just doing a sugar scrub in your own shower. I got the coconut add on which I have no idea what it was or why I paid extra for it. Then they have you shower off the coconut oil at the end and rush you out of the room. Self Care Saturday. I needed some time to relax and focus on me. I came here for a coconut scrub with collagen face mask and shampoo and scalp massage. Wow, it was incredible! I made reservations a day before and they were quick to accommodate. Upon arriving I was greeted and asked to wait until the they were ready, I arrived about 15 minutes early. The waiting area was beautiful, they offered water and tea. The person who took care of me was Tam, be sure to ask for her. She was great! First I stripped down to my swimsuit, you can go fully nude if you're comfortable, and spent 10 minutes in an infrared sauna. For those who have never had a Korean scrub, it's one of the best feelings ever. I laid down on the table and she proceeded to scrub my body, and then rinse. "Rinse" meaning that she pours warm water on you as you are laying. It sounds odd, but I promise it's great. After scrubbing, I had the face mask and the scalp massage. It was great. Came here with a Groupon for Korean style scrub--something I've been wanting to try for years but have always been too shy to try in a "real" Korean spa. Was very excited about the red light sauna as it's something I've been wanting to try despite my overall dislike for regular saunas. I was surprised to learn that I could bring my phone, and it appeared there were speakers inside the sauna (which didn't play anything--what a waste of an opportunity). I even tried finding a Bluetooth I could connect to! Lol. But overall it was very relaxing and I felt my muscles relax after the sauna. Could the sauna have been pre-heated earlier so that the temperature would've been warmer when I went in? Yes. Could I have stayed longer so that the temperature could've risen above 104F? Yes. But oh well. The scrub was an interesting experience as I wasn't sure how traditional it was going to be. It's a fully nude situation with warm water being splashed on regularly to upkeep your body temperature. This bathroom is not well-insulated so I did think it got pretty chilly even with the sauna experience first. They use a scrub glove that I think is softer than the one I have at home xD the lady asks how heavy handed you want her to be, and I said bring it on! She was considerate and some parts made me ticklish but overall I think she did a good job. My only issue with this experience is the products they use. The glove was not as natural as the glove scrub/loofahs I use at home. The soap was the big bottle "all inclusive" soaps which dries my skin so even though they added a "milk" after the scrub, it was rinsed off at I ended up feeling really dry. They also do not have any body oil or lotion for you to use afterwards, which is odd to me given how they sell all these products, you'd think they'd let you sample some of it...? But no. I got a combination foot massage and then after that a full body massage on a Groupon. At the time. I didn't hate this message. I told someone about the massage later and I worried about the overall experience. I always ask for a woman and I got one so I didn't feel suspicious at the time. She rubbed my buttocks a lot. She massaged my inner thighs, and the same person said that they never do that with him so I began to feel like it was inappropriate. Also, she used the same movements over and over and over and never got to rest of my body. There were times when she stopped rubbing my feet and just when I would move she would start up again. I also wrote on the pre-massage questionnaire that I wanted a light massage and she hurt my lower back pressing down to hard with her forearm. I told her to go lighter and I don't know if she understood because she still pressed too hard again. When I opened my eyes little during the foot massage, she was staring at me instead of my feet which isn't a crime but overall, the whole thing felt weird because someone else said, "are you kidding?" I found a Groupon here for a Korean Body Scrub. Scheduling an appointment via email was easy as they were very responsive. They require a credit card number to book and have a 24-hour cancelation policy. Leading up to the appointment, I received several reminders. Note that they charge a $5 service fee in addition to the cost of any service (waived if you pay cash, which you can't do with a Groupon). I found street parking right out front ($2/hour) on a Saturday afternoon. I arrived 10 minutes early and the person who was going to do my scrub was ready to go. They offered me water and tea and I had the chance to use the restroom. I was brought to the treatment room where there is a scrubbing table and a small dry sauna room. Don't forget to bring a hair tie if you have long hair! I removed my jewelry and I sat in the sauna for about 15 minutes before the lady came back in and the scrubbing started. I felt very comfortable considering this is done nude. They use Dr. Bronner's tea tree castille soap and if you want the coconut scrub add-on, it's an additional $15. I opted not to do the add-on but the lady was kind enough to put some on my hands, feet, and back so that I could try it. The scrubbing was mild and lasted about 15 minutes. After a thorough rinsing, I was offered a clean towel and got dressed. My overall impression of the facility was good - customer service was decent and it was clean. I would not do their body scrub again as I didn't feel like it was anything special that I couldn't do on my own. I was expecting a much more intense/ prolonged scrubbing. While the lady was really gentle (despite how harsh the exfoliating gel was), I'm not sure I'd do the treatment again since I have sensitive skin. In hindsight, I'd also opt for the coconut scrub instead of the sheet mask. I saw the sheet mask they used and it was not collagen as advertised and was annoyed by that. The lady also pressed on my eyes a bit hard (I'm guessing to take off any eye makeup? Or what I'm not sure) - and it was really uncomfortable and I was really concerned with how hard she pressed. Since my appointment was running late, they added aromatherapy on free of charge. Massage overall was good, but not traditional (he did my back but not really my legs, and not really my front). Very disappointing. I used to be loyal customer years ago before the pandemic and have not been back for years and years. I decided to give it a try and booked an appointment. The day before the appointment they called telling me that I needed to call them back to confirm. Already I don't like this because I don't have time to call people back. You can send a text if you need someone to confirm. When I called back 30 min after they had left their message they said that they had no record of my appointment. I will not be going back. I've been here many years ago when it first opened, but didn't care for it. Overpriced and mediocre massages. Today, I went in to try it again, thinking after all these years, they've expanded to several locations, surely they must be better. Nope. When I called for my appointment, I asked how much of the 1-hour massage was the feet vs. another body part. I was told 5 minutes would be neck and arms, and the rest would be feet, with a little calves thrown in. What I got was 35 minutes of "massage" on my neck and arms. I paid extra for a foot salt scrub. What I got was an excruciating rubbing of salt on my calves, with very little salt scrubbing on the actual feet (where people actually need it!). The "massage" on my feet was mediocre. A little bit of rubbing around the ankle. A quick swipe here or there of the middle of the foot. And far too long pressing on the toes of the left foot (but not the right foot for some reason). The massage pace was fast - as if the masseuse was in a race. So much for being relaxing. The masseuse was wearing air pods, so perhaps he wasn't focused on what he was doing? He also kept sniffling, and wasn't wearing a mask. Being in flu/RSV/COVID season, this made me concerned. When I checked out, I let the receptionist know how poor the treatment was, how much time was spent on my feet, and that the salt scrub caused me pain. The response I got was to put this masseuse on a "not preferred" list. I ended up paying $90 for a 1-hour foot "massage" that left me in pain with torn up calves. See photos to see the damage. FWIW, you'll have to pay $5 extra to pay with a credit card, and even if you have bad service you'll be asked if you want to tip. It's a great spa, they're just always booked and do literally nothing to attempt to find you a time to come in.

I never write reviews, but this one really bothered me and I had to get it off my chest - My experience at Kume was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a massage spa - first of all, I asked for a deep tissue massage and they didn't even do a deep tissue...they just focused on only the hot stones. Then the massage was combined with a "sauna" experience and boy was it ever an experience to never do again...it was a joke and very confusing...you have to go outside, in your robe, into another space, where the "sauna" was one of those saunas for your home for one person, not two ppl! The showers look like prison showers so we didn't bother with it. Never ever will we go back and that was our first time at Kume! I want my money back... read more
