Rainbow crunchy row and yellow tail sashimi that was on the top, great sushi in compton little hole in the wall

Great food and service I recommended it if you are ever in the city of Compton Lynwood or north LBC

    2. Beef Gyoza (6 Pieces)
    Ray M.

During the week they have $5 happy hour appetizer which is a plus and the beef gyoza is perfect. Ordered the Mexican roll and Red Fox roll and it was great too. The chef/owner was quick, friendly, and very accommodating. The waitress was learning but patient. The menu here is very expansive and has a lot of options. Surprisingly great experience. The inside decor is nice and authentic. Now the location isnt the safest. The outside isnt impressive at all. But in the daytime its a welcoming place to go.

This place is a gem! I stopped in for lunch right when they opened and had such a great experience. The restaurant was clean and the staff (just the sushi chef and one server) were incredibly friendly. It happened to be happy hour, and the appetizers were about half off. I ordered the spicy garlic edamame, gyoza, and the chef's special sushi plate -- everything came in generous portions and the sushi was so fresh. I live about 20 minutes away and would absolutely make the trip again and again.

A definite hole in the wall place but the food is excellent. The owner was especially deserving of his award. We'll be back.

    Baked 11. Baby Lobster Roll

Clean and fast service, went on a Thursday around 5pm, food tasted fresh and good customer service. I shared monkey ball and baked lobster roll. Monkey ball was my favorite! Never had mushrooms in this way with crab meat and Philadelphia cheese. Baked lobster was good but for me it had a little too much of the sauce that was used which over powered the sushi. I also got a crunch hand roll, good taste , good size and very filling. Overall good spot! The sushi prices range from $10-20. They also have boats for 3-4 people. Will definitely be back to try other sushi!

    Tako (octopus) with gochujang sauce

I can confidently say that Chef Bruce served me one of the best meals I've had all year. My family and I went to Kumi Ko a few days before Christmas, and we were absolutely blown away by the quality of ingredients and the skillfulness of execution. We did an omakase style meal, where Chef Bruce basically handcrafted a menu showcasing his signature dishes. Each dish was top-notch, highlighting different flavors and sauces and textures. Two of the standout dishes were the seafood udon, which had a warm kick (chili oil I think?) and the tako sashimi which was served with a citrusy gochujang sauce. But regardless of what you order, I genuinely don't think you could go wrong. Next time our family is in LA, we will definitely be back!

I work right around the corner and I just tried Kumi Ko today! Their sushi was really good and tempura was fresh! I also tried their Iced Matcha drink and I would definitely recommend trying this sushi spot here in Compton! There was only one person working so it did take a little longer to get serviced but overall the service and ambiance of the restaurant was amazing! I plan on returning.

What a Gem! This is truly a delicious and cozy Compton spot. Look beyond the area and go try this delicious place . We had Heart attack and creamy Shrimp for appetizers and my partner got a few fresh sushi and I got the baked salmon roll that was super creamy and yummy! The Matcha LATTE WAS very nice

Here is the receipt and it shows the tip he added. We were taking this to go, we were not eating in.

Went to place a large order and who appeared to be the manager/owner was rude and very unapologetic. He also had the audacity to give himself a huge gratuity of over $60 dollars. He also gave us 2 choices take it or leave it. So we left it. He also snatched the receipt from me, but I took a picture before hand.

Coffee Macaroon - it's a perfect way to end the meal!

Gave Mom a few options: Japanese, Vietnamese or Italian food for lunch?…read more She went for Japanese. "I haven't had Japanese curry in awhile." Great choice, because like her, been a minute since I've had that, too! We were about 20 minutes away, so I jumped on the Yelp waitlist (just to make sure we were seated ASAP since we were hangry!) Luckily, plenty of tables open when we arrived so we were seated immediately. I got the chance to look at their menu beforehand so I had an idea what I wanted. Mom went for what her palate desired. While waiting, we noticed their "Buy a beer, sake or soju, get a secret menu item for free" sign. (Mondays to Thursdays only.) We were curious, so, why not. It's a nicely decorated restaurant, almost as if we were transported somewhere in Japan for a meal. (I've never been, but I imagine the decor is close.) Didn't notice any clutter or mess. Floors were clean. Always a plus! CORN TEMPURA: This was the secret menu that went with the beer. Honestly, I am not a fan of corn kernels, but tried it anyway. Flavor of the batter was tasty enough to overcome that corn essence, so it worked out well for me. (I'm sure corn fans would disagree.) I only took two small bites, though, because the corn flavor started coming through more than I preferred. But not bad for a freebie! SOFT SHELLED CRABS: Deep fried, a must-have whenever I see it on the menu. Made to order HOT, batter was thin enough so it doesn't overwhelm the crabs' overall flavor. This was PERFECT. It didn't need the dip, it was great as it was. Great crisp, great flavor, RECOMMENDING. SPANISH MACKEREL: Also a must-have whenever I see it on a Japanese restaurant's menu. Good salt and vinegar level with a very tiny hint of sweet. Fish was fresh. Another good starter and palate cleanser. BENTO BOX LUNCH: I chose the pork cutlet with 2 sides: calamari and shrimp with vegetable tempura and although it already came with katsu sauce, I too, asked for a side of curry sauce (for a teenee upcharge.) I was a bit overwhelmed when my box arrived since I didn't account for the soup and the salad that went with it - it was a ton of food! Salad was fresh with good amount of Japanese dressing. Miso soup was hot and seasoned perfect. Tempura shrimp (2pcs) was a bit undercooked, but not raw, still delicious. Tempura vege was perfect. Rice was warm and fluffy. They gave a generous amount of calamari that I thought they messed up and gave us a full order vs. a side. Not only is it a lot, it's delicious. Good crisp, good chew, great flavor. I loved loved LOVED my bento box! Mom also enjoyed her brewski and her pork cutlet curry. As mentioned earlier, they are generous with their servings so we had plenty of leftovers for a second meal. (I ended up sharing it with Hubbers who enjoyed it as well.) FOOD: 5. We liked everything. SERVICE: 5. Jasmine was perfect - friendly, service with a smile, she was available when needed even after it got crowded. She was efficient with her time and made sure she gave every table the attention it required and deserved. VALUE: 5. Quality and quantity. More than worth it! PARKING: Private lot shared with others. Not an issue when we came through on mid-week lunch rush. OVERALL: 5. They are popular - most of the tables were occupied by the time we left. Good for them. Hubbers liked our takeout so much and said I should take him there sometime. The answer to that, of course, is a definite: YES. Looking forward to that second visit.

Like this place!…read more Service is normal, sushi is good, environment is great. Umami roll - very good. Mango Night Roll - even better! I've gotten this a few times and love it. Pico and mango on top is a great flavor. Comes w miso soup and salad which makes it a great deal. The environment is decorated adorably, there met the Japanese theme. Price is fair compared to other sushi restaurants in the area, not over $20 mostly which I appreciate. Will go back !

Cozy spot for incredible sushi!…read more I tried Golden Eye Snapper for the first time ever, and it might be one of my new favorites! The lightly torched skin gives each bite a nice, firm textural contrast against the delicate, tender meat. The yuzu garnish puts it over the top! My other favorites are Striped Jack and Hokkaido Scallop. My friend, who doesn't really like eating fish, loves their Double S Roll (tempura shrimp & fried scallops.) The service has been mostly wonderful. We did run into one hiccup when we found some hard, jagged black chunks in the Double S Roll that we couldn't eat. They looked and felt like metal or charred debris, but the staff insisted they were black sesame seeds. Otherwise, the staff has been upbeat and super friendly. If you're looking for your next unforgettable bite, do yourself a favor and order the Golden Eye Snapper!

They have a parking lot, which is a plus for this area because street parking is challenging. I ordered the Negi Toro Hand roll, Spicy Scallop Roll, and TNT Roll. The hand roll was elegant, fresh, and delicious. I loved the seaweed. The Spicy Scallop was my favorite because of the quality ingredients and value. It was definitely spicy. The TNT Roll was amazing, but I had to remove the Jalapeño due to it kicking my ass. I'll definitely return because I had an exciting experience.

Clean and chill conveyer belt above Tokyo Central…read more Our favorites: Jack Mackerel*** - with ginger and scallions. It was surprisingly so good!!! With the skilled cut and flavor combination, it tastes like straight up cold butter which felt illegal. Not fishy at all. Just butter wow Salmon**- simple and delicious. We liked the fresh better than seared today. Scallops*- fresh and sweet! From Japan Seared Black cod*- so soft and buttery. Tastes special. Yum! Side note: their spicy mayo is really good. I'm getting sesame oil notes on it which really amps up the flavor! Seared Mackerel - not as buttery as the jack variety, firm and fishier Red Shrimp - fresh and tasty, but the texture was firm, maybe I'll try a different variety next time Matcha Mont Blanc - Nutty, creamy, and mild, much more chestnut taste than matcha.
