The ribs were delicious and there were baked scallops in a clam shell with garlic vermicelli noodles, I probably ate seven of those! They were so delicious. Unfortunately the issue I had was with the teenage girl who sat us and took our drink order. She had so much attitude from the minute we walked in. I don't remember her name. The restaurant charged my card three times while I was there. There is no way my bill would've been $240 for two people. Price is a high (Double of other Chinese buffet), but the food was good and freash. Definitely want to go try the dinner buffet. They said there were more options of seafood at dinner. My favorite Asian buffet! Everything is fresh and sanitary which is important to me in a buffet. I don't have to worry about food poisoning from the seafood. Kumi is a definite upgrade from the Chinese buffet restaurant that was at that location previously. We delayed trying it because of its emphasis on sushi. We just don't care for any type of Sushi and they do have alot of it. But they have all of the standard Asian food offerings too, along with a much improved dessert bar. They have totally remodeled the place and it looks good. We went on a Sunday so the weekday buffet might not be as robust but it was fantastic. They have many things on the buffet that I had never seen before. I like the adventure of trying new things as long as it isn't raw fish. Their buffet had some very interesting-looking items, along with BBQ ribs and wings. They had a couple of fruits I'd never heard of along with papaya and the standard fresh pineapple, grapes, strawberries and watermelon. The salads had more variety too. They had the biggest monster shrimp I've ever seen and lots of crab legs. Did I mention the desserts? There were 2 fresh, moist cakes and a cheesecake along with pudding, ice cream and much, much more! The price was more than we expected, probably higher because it was the weekend buffet. For 2 buffets and iced tea, it cost $62.98 plus tip. Service was great and we enjoyed it tremendously. Was super excited to try this place because it's an all you can eat and I usually go for seafood every time. I filled my plate with seafood and they were so good! But I'm giving them 4 stars because my husband got a bunch of meat and I remember mozzarella sticks and he mentioned that some things were not made/cooked right. The place is decorated nicely, but I feel like the tables and chairs were so close together and of course it gets packed in there. It was really busy the day we decided to go. Just wanted to advise folks on my experience. (Everyone's experience is different!) Recently visited Kumi, and I will never return. It was $30 per person and $2.99 for a beverage. Came out to $66 for two of us. The seafood selection was ok but the other food items such as steak, chicken, pork and sides were far below average. Although there was a vast variety, everything seemingly tasted the same. "Dish-watery" is the best way to describe the taste of the food. I will say the dessert was the best thing offered. Unfortunately, I believe this buffet gave me moderate food poisoning - leading me to urgent care the following morning. The food was terrible, I feel terrible. But the staff was beyond welcoming and friendly. Maybe it was a bad night for them or just a loss for me. read more

If you are into Chinese buffet places, this would be the place you would like to go to. We walked in and it was very clean, very organized and looked delicious from our perspective. I must caution you that the prices here are pretty steep for a Chinese buffet at $28 per person. we did however enjoy all the food that they had and we did come in on a Friday evening. The sushi bar is well stacked and has all kinds of sushi plus all kinds of soups. The staff is very attentive to make sure you have your drinks topped off and they clean up plates pretty quickly. It was an ok experience. The snow crab was way over cooked. Every single one had shredded meat. You should be able to just pull out the meat in one piece. Nice selection on the buffet but sadly many dishes were mislabeled. Not paying attention to detail on the part of the staff. When it was time to pay our bill was incorrect and we pointed it out to the person and explained. 2 tickets: ticket 1 was for 2 lunches and 2 drinks with a senior discount for 1 drink/meal on it. The 2nd ticket was 2 lunches and 1 drink. They managed to apply the discount to the 2nd ticket. Server took the tickets back to make the corrections with the credit card for the second ticket. Came back with the same exact tickets but had charged the card for 2 meals and 2 drinks. The jerk just switched the tickets instead of correcting it. Dumb server played really stupid like it was rocket science she didn't understand and said the "manager" changed them. I call bs! Lazy! I am really disgusted with that level of ineptitude! I was really looking forward to trying this place, but it wasn't as great as everyone hyped it up to be. Service: we were seated promptly and our waitress was super friendly! There was an issue with our bill and she took care of it without a problem. Food: I was most looking forward to the crab legs and they really were not great at all. You could tell that they were not fresh and the cold option was not that cold. A lot of the hot food options were lukewarm at best. Sushi was surprisingly great though! The kimchi, cucumber salad, and seaweed salad was also awesome. Self serve ice cream was great for the kiddos. Preface: I'm not a shellfish kind of person. Kumi has a lot of that to offer and I tried none of it. I sat down and ordered a Tea to drink. I tried several items from their lunch buffet. Awful. Every sauce was just sugar. Egg rolls were the frozen ones and were not cooked long enough...soft and doughy. I didn't quite make it through a plate of food, and I tried a couple other items hoping for a different result. No luck. The plates were all crusty with food debris as well. I went through 4-5 each time and finally found 1 that was almost clean. Service was friendly and competent. Then, the bill came...I expected the usual buffet pricing, $13.99 or $15.99 with the drink or something. It was $19.99 for dirty plates and sugar sauce chicken. The tea was not included, so the bill was just under $25. Lesson learned, never again. read more

So, I wouldn't be having any top secret conversations there. Service: Serviceable. A professional young man who answered all our questions, but was not annoyingly over friendly. One minor issue: My dining partner's meal was brought to him 5-10 minutes before I received my meal. I told him to go ahead and eat so that his food wouldn't get cold. Food: Quite good. Thankfully not over-salted like so much restaurant food these days. Also, very generous portions. My combo platter's fish, shrimp, and wings were fried to perfection and nicely seasoned. The accompanying sauces were tasty. My companion had fried rice, which I sampled. Also delicious. While the plates are generous, the drinks are not. I ordered a margarita. I received a tiny glass that appeared to hold about an 8-oz (one cup) serving. Also, I couldn't taste the alcohol, but did feel the effects. I don't know what kind of liquor was used. It was "interestingly" sweet. I've had quite a few margaritas in my time. This one was unique in a not particularly good way. Overall, the folks at Kumi did a fine job. San Antonio finally has a Chinese buffet with all you can eat crab legs again! It's a little pricey, but if you like crab legs it's your only option to get them buffet style. It's always pretty packed for dinner. Prices are significantly lower for lunch. Is it worth it? Only if you like crab legs. They will bring sushi to your table if you order it. read more

Not the greatest experience. We arrived at 11 and saw multiple people walking in, but they said they didn't open til 11:30, so we waited. They don't have their hours posted anywhere (online nor on their doors). There was a long, uncontrolled line once 11:30 hit. There's no labels of what's being served at the buffet. It was packed at Kumi's the Saturday we went! They got us seated pretty quickly (30 min or so) for the amount of people that were waiting to be seated. The table and chairs weren't as clean as I would like however, we just dusted the food particles off as the staff was just trying to hurry and turn over tables for the next guest. Our waiter was very attentive and never let our drinks go empty. My favorite was the steamed crab legs as they don't have a minimum of how much you can eat, love that, and the personal sushi you can order at the table (included with the buffet.) The mini tiramisu's I could eat all day everyday. I thought there was a decent selection of the regular items placed out at buffets and to me this place taste better than Lin's buffet. Once again we went to the Kumi buffet, this time for our Christmas meal. It was GREAT just like before. The selection of seafood was amazing along with the other dishes you would expect in a Chinese buffet and some that were unusual but good! I pretty much stuck to the shellfish and oysters both raw and cooked but my 101 year old mother tried a little bit of everything and enjoyed it all. She loved the little fried crabs and she and I both enjoyed the miso soup which was mild and very delicious. My gf had a piece of steak that she said was a bit dry but she did enjoy the brisket. The service was top notch with the waiter whisking away our used plates when we were through with each one. He also kept our drinks filled. The restaurant was busy but not overcrowded so that was nice. I'm glad people are enjoying coming here as much as we do. I hope this restaurant does well for years to come! JUST DON'T GO. All in All it was bad food, bad service, and a horrible price for one adult and one kid to be charged $45.00 for a Chinese buffet lunch. Thought we'd give it a try since we used to like going to China Harbor. We waited 10 minutes to be seated, with no line and 30+ tables open. The floor was so slippery around the tables, I had to hold on to chairs to keep from falling. Maybe they used Soapstone for the floors? Our server asked for our sushi order but never brought it. He also got our drink order incorrect twice...kept bringing us diet versions of what we ordered. The crab legs were slimy and under cooked, the cheese rangoons were liquidy cheese inside, and the chicken dishes were overly breaded. The busboy completely cleared our table of everything twice...even our drinks, silverware, and the various dipping sauces we had retrieved. So we'd have to flag down our server just to get utensils and drinks again and go back and re-serve all the sauces we had just gotten. If I hadn't caught it, we would have been charged the dinner buffet prices when it was only 1:30....so double check your check! RIPOFF! read more
