It's packed with flavor and always hits the spot. Don't skip the ice cream! DORP always has great rotating flavors, but the Ube was a 10/10 for me. I've heard great things about this place so I had to check it out for myself. I'm just disappointed I waited so long! The food was amazing, so flavorful and left me wanting more (even though I was stuffed). I ordered the Tony Porker which is made with their Penang curry. This is the spicier of their three curries, but nothing overpowering. I also tried my husband's Brisket Smoke Show, which is made with the green curry, and was surprised at how juicy the brisket was. The place was fairly quiet on a Saturday afternoon. Lots of tables, very clean, and plenty of parking. Had seen this place (OG location) on Texas Eats and also saw that they also were James Beard nominees...so when we were in the area- it was a must try and it did not disappoint! We started with a couple of beers and their curry queso and chips. The curry queso had such a delicious flavor and a profile that intensified with each chew and came to a velvety "crescendo" as you swallow- absolutely wonderful! Made the beer go down nicely. My wife and I then got the Brisket Smoke Show curry bowl to split and it was amazing! First, the brisket was top notch! Since it was just "the protein" in a green curry dish, I did not anticipate getting truly quality brisket- but damn...this brisket rivaled the best that I've had anywhere. The green curry was absolutely delicious and melded so nicely with the savory flavor of the brisket. While this is an order-at-the-counter model place, the young lady taking orders at the counter was so sweet and attentive. When we went to the counter a 3rd time to order a couple of meals for take out for our kids (chicken curry and pulled pork sandwich), I mentioned how much we enjoyed our experience. On this days food adventure, I was at the airport I remembered that there is a restaurant that I've wanting to try. The restaurant in question is: "Curry Boy BBQ". The establishment is in a strip mall, so plenty of parking is available, upon entering you can see a good amount of seating, the place has a welcoming atmosphere from the layout with the TVs on the wall to the people there, also you notice the menu on the side of the wall including personal menus. As you are choosing your meal, you can choose a fountain drink or a canned drink. Now that you've chosen your meal you are warmly greeted by the hostess who will take your order. They are very kind and super helpful in answering any questions that you might have. The food is brought to your table when done. After all that, now the food, I chose the "Brisket Smoke Show"; any words I say about this dish will not bring justice to this plate. The brisket was cooked to perfection, tender juicy abundant of flavors, the brisket came accompanied by rice and vegetables. The sky looked gray so we decided to stay close to home. We hadn't been to @curryboysbbq Stone Oak in a while and went for dinner tonight. We tried the Thai Green Salad and added smoked chicken. Yum! I have to say what keeps me from giving 5 stars, is 1) like the current trend, they expect a tip for simply ringing you up and bringing your food to you. What am I tipping for?? Keeping the pink spirit alive, the shop is trimmed in pink, and has a line of glass cases filled with dolls, books, and western decor. The menus are easy to find, and the staff is super sweet. I picked up one of my ol' faithfuls: The Tony Porker. I don't know if it's because we dined inside, but the servings are ginormous compared to when I have them delivered! Everything else though is perfectly consistent, down to the two baby carrots and two slices of potatoes in the curry bowl. My sister ordered the Thai Green Salad (with smoked chicken) and my brother in law had the Good Luck Cluck. We all left very full and satisfied! But wait, there's more! They also recently started selling Dorp Creamery ice cream in Ube and Thai Tea flavors! I ordered an Ube ice cream and it was delightfully sweet and earthy. My sister's only critique was if the salad had edamame in it, it would have been perfect. No critiques from my brother in law or me, though. In fact, my BIL got a side of the chili oil and he absolutely loved it. I'm not sure which location is closer to me - they're both a good distance, but regardless, Curry Boys is always worth the trip. If you like Texas and Thai fusion, you need to try them. They are a match made in heaven. What blows my mind is that it's not just Texas BBQ, it's GREAT Texas BBQ. The meat is smokey and flavorful, and it pairs beautifully with the curries. The explosion of flavor unraveled secrets of the universe. The warm embrace of the curry soothed childhood trauma (I really wanted that bike). The smoky boldness of the barbecue reminded me of the strength that was dormant inside these old bones - ok this is getting weird. The food was amazing. The service was really good. And the location is fantastic because this area doesn't have a lot of fast-casual lunch spots so I can dip in between appointments, grab a hearty meal, and get back to it. We started going when it was still in the original tiny pink place. I think we've tried pretty much everything but our go to is still the Good Luck Cluck. It's really hard to beat the flavor! Everything is cooked perfectly. Staff is absolutely fabulous and the food comes out fast! Each bowl usually will be enough for three meals for us. Try everything though. The curry queso and chips were alright to me, the chips were too salty and the queso did not taste like anything special. For dessert we got the flan solo.
