If there were a restaurant that I could and would eat at everyday a Mongolian grill would be it. Fresh ingredients in a sauce made my me and cooked right in front of me. Hot and fresh ingredients the quality that I choose and best of all, if I want more all I have to do is get up, get a fresh plate and cook up more. The only bummer is that I can't box up my left overs and take it home. The service, well, I have no complaints. She was attentive and friendly while we were eating, BUT I did have to go find her when it was time to go. And the ambiance, it wasn't anything special. Just suitable for any size group, like me and my daughter. Or the family group of 10+ just across the room. Everyone had plenty of room. All was good and well, so here's my beef... Cleanliness!! I don't know how I feel about this place. I used to frequent it in the past as a younger person who eats a lot! I visited recently and I could say the experience is still fun! The service is very friendly. You can eat until you drop! But... the quality of ingredients is not good! I had to sit and fish the good bits and pieces of carrots. It looks old! Almost black! If you've eaten at Gengis Grill, this place is exactly like it but its buffet style food. Service is okay. It wasnt a busy day so the server was just trying to keep busy by coming over to my table and making sure everything was going good. They do offer appetizers and desserts. We went at a pretty busy time but the line moved quickly. The food was great and we liked all of our options for making our bowls.

Huhot is a rare franchise that I wished people knew more about. Although San Antonio used to have two, the og remains as the 2nd one was quickly shut down. It seems they have decided to put all there eggs in the one location on Dezavala. They have updated in inside and feels more open. Throughout the years this place has had ups and downs with its quality. Watering down the sauce to not putting out some because it wasn't used as much. After the updates and closer of the 2nd location they have got their act together here as it reminds to be the only Huhot in Texas. The only thing is that it's really up to you to make a good dish. I guess I'm just that good at making my dish that I think this is a 5 star place I am only giving it a 4 because I can no longer take advantage of all you can eat which makes it a bit pricey now a days. read more

This experience was a lot of chill fun! I haven't been to a Mongolian grill in a little over a decade and forgotten how exactly these restaurants work, but our server was great and explained the process to our group and checked in on us often throughout our meal. The restaurant was pretty big and smelled delicious since the food is prepped in front of you and the grill is constantly full, and the Mongolian style murals on the wall were super dynamic and neat. Hu Hot is all you can eat and has a TON of protein, veggie, spice, and sauce options to choose from to make the dish or dishes that are best for you. I ended up stuffing a whole bunch of ingredients into my bowl (I'll list everything at the end of this review so you can get an idea of everything they have) and added about five scoops total of different sauces to my dish. The server recommend six to eight scoops, but I was a little skeptical and added one less because it just seemed like a lot. Five scoops was actually perfect for me, and the funny and unique names for all of the sauces had my group laughing. The line for this self-serve, buffet style process was pretty fast despite the amount of people there, and the cooks were super fast grilling up all of our meals. I noticed that a few customers had two bowls that they had cooked together, a really nice option if there are too many choices to choose from or you're just wanting something more substantial, but my group each ended up cooking a single bowl each and were stuffed full as the bowls are all pretty big. I will be honest, I'm not sure how bad cross contamination for those with allergies is since everything is prepared on the same round grill. They sprayed some solution on and quickly washed each cooking space off after each dish was prepped, but I am not sure what that solution was and felt I might mention this in case anyone with a food allergy reads this. I also ended up with a couple of ingredients that I did not add from neighboring cooking meals. This didn't really bother me, again, just adding this on the off chance this helps someone. I'd definitely love to go back to try another crazy combination. I'd give Hu Hot a 4.5, my fiancé gives it a 5 for nostalgia and experience, and the two people we dined with give it a 4 and 5. I remember coming here years ago and really thought it was excellent. The sauce bar used to have recipes so you could make a certain recipe by adding labels of different sauces whether hot, spicy etc. today the name plaques are worn that you can't read the name of the sauce so you have to wing it. The rice was hard and crunchy, I can tell it's not old because I can see the huge rice cooker from where I sit. I let the waitress know and she told me she checked another cooker and it was the same.. crunchy. Maybe it was an off day for them. With all of the sauces that they have to offer, you could go hundreds of visits before getting the same exact combination. The servers are very diligent on making sure that you have all the things that you need and keeping your table clear of dirty dishes. The seating is very comfortable and open now since they remodeled it over a year ago. My husband and I went there today at 1:14pm and we paid for (2) Grill Meals, Unsweet Ice Tea, Lemonade, and we were to receive a military discount. But, the bad part came after we couldn't finish our food and we were told by "Giselle M" that this restaurant didn't have to-go containers for the unfinished food we wanted to take home. Giselle M indicated that we had to pay for another plate or two to take them to-go. So, we were charged $34.06 for the first meal and drinks, and then were charged again at $15.14 for us to take them to go. We didn't want to waste our food and I see now that they give us a bowl of rice on the side so that we would have to leave our food there. This is a wrong type of business with throwing away food after someone who can't eat so much and would love to take their food home and maybe have it later during the day. Also, the two cooks who grills and cooks the food after it's composed by the customer, do NOT speak English at all. We had to get Giselle M to translate it to them as my husband is allergic to "ONIONS", and my mix had onions on it and my husbands' didn't have any onions. We had to tell Giselle M that my husband is allergic to onions and that it needed to be cooked separately so my husband wouldn't get an allergic reaction. It's not good to not have at least one or two english speaking cooks also during the cook time. We even asked a cleaner or the person cleaning the restaurant to translate and he didn't speak spanish so, they called Giselle M to translate it to the cooks. They looked at me funny when I needed my husbands' needs to be done correctly to avoid an allergic reaction. So, we're not happy and will not be going back to this restaurant again as we had to pay for a plastic container (which we were told they didn't have to begin with) and we had to pay can extra "$6.99" per plastic to-go container just to take our foods homes. This is wrong as people have to pay money to get their mongolian foods made and when someone makes them to their perfect mix, and if they can't take it home after they are full from part of the meal, they should be able to take it home without being charged again for an extra plate and/or container. If this is the case with these restaurants, then they shouldn't give out rice to mix with the perfect mixture that we as customers make and maybe to take it home for a night-time dinner. We shouldn't have to pay for an extra plate just to take our leftover foods home. We loved our mixtures and we wanted to take them home but, we had to pay for two other plates to take them home. That was an expensive "TO-GO" container. A BAD experience from a restaurant isn't a good way to go back to a restaurant and hopefully the experience changes. This came to a wrong way of having your customers not be able to take their food home when they can't finish their food. This is so NOT PROFESSIONAL!!! We've gone to other Mongolian Grills in texas and when we wanted to take our remaining foods home, we didn't have this ordeal with purchasing another plate just to take it home. We wanted to try this restaurant as we've seen it from the "Frontage Road" on the I-10 Freeway and I think we won't be going back to this location again. First experiences with restaurants should great and a customer shouldn't have to pay for another plate or two to just take their food home. If they told us this when we first arrived, then maybe we would have changed our mind or made a little less food. There should also be atleast 1 english speaking cook so if there is a customer that doesn't speak spanish, like us can have our foods cooked correctly. I even gave the cooks a tip as they did make our foods taste good and fully cooked. But, we don't have to find a few waitresses to just to translate it to the cooks with a husband and/or customer who has a food allergy to have it cooked separately to avoid a food allergy. However, I will say that the sauce ratios need to be increased-particularly if you're going to follow their recipes. My first time I used their ratios/recipes to the letter but didn't taste much. I went back and added a lot more than they called for, then added more and I got some flavor. We visited HuHot on a Sunday around lunch time. It was busy, but everything moved quick. It was not mall food court Mongolian, which was nice. We were seated and had a server for drinks. This restaurant is all you can eat, with no to go boxes. You walk through a buffet set up of raw ingredients with one or two small bowls. The first section is meats, then fruits and vegetables, followed by sauces. You should get more sauce than you think and combine as many as you want. Everything is labeled well and the sauces all have heat levels listed. Next, you go into line at the grill. The cooks are really well organized and get you through quick. They clean the grill often, but I would be hesitant if I had food allergies or didn't eat meat. After the grill, there is a small condiment area with nuts, sriracha, soy sauce etc. The restaurant is in a large, busy shopping center. We found parking without any interest. I came at lunch when I knew they wouldn't be busy bc I like to set myself up for success lol I was expecting a really cheap, effortless atmosphere, but I actually think the relatively dark/moody ambiance and art painted on the wall leveled it up a bit to the point it could be for family, friends, or even a casual date night. Axel greeted me as soon as I got seated, let me know their best appetizers, and how the restaurant worked. He was attentive, kind, and courteous. There were a reasonable amount of options out, and the sauces were more complex than what I'm used to. For example, instead of just ginger sauce or pineapple juice, it would be a group of flavors that pair well together blended together in a sauce to take the guess work out of which sauces complement each other well- I consider this a huge win. They also have a QR code for recipe/sauce ideas at the table. I just picked a ton of sauces based on heat level and the description, I'm pretty adventurous and like a ton of flavor in my food. I lost count of how many ladles of sauce I added, two here, one or two there, but it probably totaled to about 12 scoops. My food was juicy and packed with flavor, the fried noodles being my favorite part. I got one big plate and was full and completely satisfied. It was great and their recipes make sauce picking a bit easier. When we arrived it was a bit slow so we didn't have to wait in line for the cooking station, but by the second bowl it was getting crowded and their entire cooking station was packed and there was a wait line.
