Stopped in for a late lunch after a doctors appointment since I'm not normally in the Stone Oak area and glad I did. I get seated right away as the lunch rush was over. I look over the menu and ordered the Triple delight with steamed rice and an egg roll. The order comes out in about ten minutes and is delivered by a robotic food serve on wheels. The waiter comes and actually hands you the plate, but it was fun twist. The egg roll is nice and crispy one the outside and moist on the inside. Very nice crunch when I bit into it. The rice is solid, steamed well and moist. The triple delight is well seasoned with sauce coating the veggies and proteins. The shrimp, beef and chicken were nicely grilled. The restaurant is in a big business park and has plenty of parking. Overall, I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area to try more of the menu. read more

Came here because a friend of mine used to work here many years ago and told me how good it was. Walked in and was greeted by a young lady and sat by the entrance. Ordered the day special (Sunday). Wasn't too impressed. Fried rice came cold and asked the server to re-heat the whole plate. The fried rice tasted old and greasy. Nevertheless, ate a little bit and asked for my check. Food was actually the best I have had from them in awhile. Chicken was cooked so well ! I really come for the chicken fried rice it's my favorite in town also love the cashew chicken. The DOWNFALL today was the service. Took our order after 10 minutes. Asked a question about the menu they did it for me but never told me it was Ok never saw server again till the food robot came. We needed drinks we never got. Also when ready to check out finally flagged down a different server. That would be ok but we saw the 2 servers chatting in the back our entire meal. It's another Daddy-Daughter lunch today. We went to @taipeichineserestaurant in Stone Oak. It was a busy lunch crowd. They had lunch specials for under $15 and Daily Combos. Egg rolls, white or fried rice come with your lunch specials, and iced tea. I had asked Brooklyn if we could get lemonade for Dad for an upcharge but they wouldn't allow the substitution. Dad had the Lemon Chicken and I had the Orange Chicken. We both didn't finish our meal and took it home. The food was delicious but the service was mixed. What was cool was they had this robot server that brought the food to your table! Brooklyn was our server but we didn't see very much of her. Alex, another server, kept refilling my tea. This was my first time eating here. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken because I wanted a dish with chicken and vegetables. Received my order and this is not Kung Pao Chicken that I'm familiar eating. The plate consisted of chicken, peanuts in brown sauce. I sent the plate back and ordered Chicken with Vegetables. My plate had 3 pieces of broccoli, 2 pieces of carrots, 3 pieces of white onion and a handful of mushrooms. I was so disgusted that I asked for a container to go. I ordered the General Chicken "extra spicy," but it had absolutely no flavor or heat. The fried rice was oddly crunchy, which was very disappointing. The egg roll was soft instead of crispy, and the hot and sour soup came with crunchy noodles that were clearly stale. I also ordered a side of chicken fried rice for my mother, and it was just as disappointing. What makes this even more unfortunate is that I used to come to this restaurant years ago and the food was excellent. Unfortunately, it's nothing like it used to be. I normally visited this place two or three times before; everything was pretty normal. But there are a lot of things they NEED to improve. My last visit I had the worst experience about lack of hygiene and food safety (I went by myself). Got their especial lunch of the day (lemon chicken with a side of steamed veggies). The chicken was good, nothing crazy about it; the problem was in the vegetables... first I had some of the veggies and found a shrimp tail and I decided not to make a scene about it (just stopped eating). Then I was kinda moving some of them and found the worst thing ever; a WORM on my salad. I told the waitress to please take away my plate because it was disgusting. Went for lunch. Not crowded. The person finally came to seat us and never spoke a word to us or even a smile, except to follow him. Put the menus on the table & left. We sat down with menus and waited and waited for a waiter to come and at least take a beverage order. Finally came and he did apologize for the wait and was a very cordial person. Ok. Got our soup order ok. Egg drop soup was good but my husbands sweet & sour tasted like what I imagine dish water would taste like. It was awful. We both ordered sweet & sour shrimp with friend rice. Waited & waited to finally receive order. The rice was fine. The shrimp was crispy BUT the sauce was served in a little styrofoam cup!! I've never had a sweet & sour dish served this way. Taipei is one of my favorite restaurants to visit when I go back to my hometown of San Antonio. The food and service are always great. They have daily lunch specials very reasonably priced which includes your choice from a wide selection of entrees, served with an egg roll, fried rice, and iced tea. You should definitely also get the wonton soup, which is excellent, for only $2.79. I love the Triple Delight, but the General Tso's Chicken, Lemon Chicken, Orange Chicken, and many other selections are also very good. read more

We were in the area & decided to try their food. Very reasonable lunch prices. The decor was beautiful Asian pictures & flowers. The robot delivering food is similar to places in Japan but the customer picks up the plates, not a server. I was very disappointed in my chicken & vegetables lunch plate. Very bland, I sprinkled soy sauce on all the food but that was no help. I've eaten at several Chinese restaurants around town & the state, we won't be back. read more

Came here for lunch one time and was pretty happy with the food but not the service. The waiter was certainly not friendly and wasn't engaging. Asked for our order and that was it. I would prefer he asked, if this is our first time, suggestions on what's popular or even how are we doing today. Nonetheless, the food was good. Their fried rice was tasty and well-seasoned. It wasn't bland and the portions were appropriate. It was an open kitchen so you could hear the food sizzle and commotions of a normal busy kitchen. The decor was lackluster didn't care for it. I would probably only do lunch here if I was supposed to return. The highlight was the robot bringing the food to the table. For the price of lunch specials and in general, it was surprisingly very good. The calamari we ordered was on point.m, esp the salad dressing that was on the spinach salad it came with. I was super duper pleasantly surprised. My 2 year old even gobbled it up. They were quick, waiting about 3 minutes to get my order taken and about 10 minutes for the food to come out. It is delivered by a robot cat too, which was an unique experience. Really appreciated that experience It had about 4 other groups in there for a Saturday lunch so it wasn't busy but well worth a visit. I will return for sure. read more

I just had the worse restaurant experience in years. I went for lunch and the nice greeter sat me down. I had questions and she explained them. I asked who my waitress was and she told me. The waitress never came to me. So after 10 minutes the hostess said she could take my order. I ordered and receive part of my order. The waitress still would not even greet me. I flagged down the hostess and asked her for the rest of my order and some WATER, 20 minutes later. I ate my food. More people arrived, the waitress served everyone before me and began severing everyone after me. Never checked on me once. Once I was done with my meal about 45 minutes later she asked if she could do anything for me. I asked for the bill and a to go box. She gave two couples around me their bills and to go boxes and finally gave me my to go box. She then did not give me my check for another 10 minutes. In the meantime served food to two couples who arrived after me and drinks to two other couples who just arrived. She served all 10 other tables but me. I asked her when she finally brough the bill why she did not serve me and she walked away. I told the manager what happened and she YELLED across the restaurant that I was no longer welcome in the restaurant. Again, while I was paying my bill at the front desk the waitress/manager yelled across the restaurant that I was no longer welcome there! I will never go back. I had even asked about the family special because I was thinking about getting that this weekend. Management should NEVER have an employee like that. Also I just called back and the management backed the employee and stated that I had a different server assigned to me. And when I stated that THAT server never took my order either, they did not care. No server every heled me except for the greeter. Then the manager came on the phone and said "don't you have anything else to do in your life?" HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE place. Never go there. read more

I've eaten at Taipei a few times and the food is okay. I recently called in an to-go order on a Monday night, and I have to say the service was terrible. The 3 ladies I spoke to all claimed to managers, but I'm not sure this was true. All three were very rude. They said they were very busy and that I was wasting their time. Even though the food is okay, the service is so bad that it's not worth another visit. I actually know a couple of other people who have had a similar experience. Pathetic service. Placed an order for kung pao chicken and sweet and sour plus 3 egg rolls for pick up. Drive back home and open the bag and it has no sweet and sour sauce in it and only a single egg roll. When I call to make complaint they expect me to drive back out and pick it up with ZERO compensation. Now I get to drive double and come home to cold food. It has been a few years I have eaten at Taipei. I originally would eat at their 1 st location in Castle Hills. Later started coming to their Stone Oak location. Since I moved to the Texas Hill Country haven't been here. Came from the airport today and decided to stop, for I loved their Shrimp in Fruit sauce. My partner got the Beef with Green Peppers. Upon sitting we got a sticky table. We moved tables and were told no matter how many times the table is cleaned it is always sticky. That it was the varnish. Well, time to sand and revarnish or retire the table. Fruit sauce was not the same. Not as tasty and use to come with grapes and cherries. Now it has strips of Honey dew melon which had no taste. The Beef and Green peppers had 1 piece of green pepper and several onions. The beef was tender but the sauce lacked flavor. I have to wonder if the original owners sold. This was a pretty popular place, but not anymore. I will not be returning. read more

I was very disappointed. I am a huge fan of Orange beef. I will usually order this whenever a place has it on their menu. I am accustomed to orange beef being very thin slices of meat, tossed in cornstarch, fried and tossed in a sweet orange peel flavored sauce. That is not how they prepare it here. I received 6 THICK pieces of meat (at least 1" thick x 3" long) in a mushy breading and sweet sauce. The flavor was ok but the pieces of meat were tough to cut through and I did not find the soggy breading appealing at all. I tried reheating in the over but it didn't help. Next, the General Tso's Chicken. Again, the chunks are much larger than what am accustomed to from any other place and the breading on these was excessive. The taste is OK but the thick breading and big pieces of meat ruin it for me Lastly, the crab Rangoon's just seem like they have cream cheese in them and the sauce served with them is gross, for Lack of a better word. It seems like high fructose corn syrup sauce that has been colored orange with food coloring. The spicy edamame was very good. I wish that was the only thing I had ordered. Overall, I dislike how the food is prepared here and will not go back unless they completely change how they prepare the entrees. read more
