Our last night in PR and we wanted to try something different, fun and hopefully catch the sunset at this roof top restaurant. There were plenty of outdoor tables and some had lounge seating which was unusual. The city lights were twinkling as the sunset occurred. A slight breeze was welcoming for us patrons. Normally a reservation is recommended however we were able to get an open slot without reservations. 4 Stars - Staff. Our server was friendly, professional and easy to talk with. She made some recommendations on the food options. After the items were ordered we waited for at least 15-20 minutes for the appetizers (Sakana (Small Dishes)). Then another 30 minutes for the Main Dishes (Robatta Kanji (Main). Due to open concept kitchen and the limited space, the chefs were busy and efficient cooking and plating the dishes. We weren't bothered as much as other patrons because we were enjoying the experience and our libations. The eating establishment is considered an Asian Fusion restaurant. They use local ingredients and infuse the items with a Japanese and Caribbean twist, so don't expect normal noodles or rice dishes. You need to expand your palate and you won't be disappointed. Food: 3.75 -4.5 Stars We ordered three small dishes (Sakana). 4 Stars - Kumo Sliders (2 qty). The Wagyu Sliders had caramelized onions, house kewpie mayo and arugula. They were juicy and meaty. The Argula lettuce has a peppery taste and onions were sweet. 3.75 Stars - Salmon Okonomiyaki House smoked salmon over a whole wheat tortilla with spicy mayo, feta cheese, black sesame seed, truffle oil, honey and micro cilantro. - the thinly sliced salmon was presently beautifully on the plate and the truffle oil and honey danced on your taste buds. The micro cilantro has a slight lemony taste so if you don't like cilantro avoid this dish. 4.5 Stars - Kumo Salad Arugula, orange segment, candied cashews, carrot zuma, feta cheese, with yuzu vinaigrette. The salad was refreshing, had a peppery taste, crunchy from the cashews and the Yuzu dressing was light, slightly sweet and tartly. My wife would have eaten the bowls of it. 3.75 Stars - One skewer (Robatiyaki) - I ordered the grilled shrimp skewer. It consist on One skewer with two large whole shrimps on it. Yakitori Prawns Gremolata and char lemon slice. The shrimp were tender, juicy and had a slight lemon taste to it. It would have had a higher rating if they presented TWO skewers instead of One for the price you pay. 3.75 Stars - one Main (Robatta Kanji) dish. Korobuta Pork Belly Sauteed garlic broccolini, black pig pork belly in pork glaze. The side was pan seared Broccolini w stems. The pork belly was charred then pan seared and glazed with the sauce. It was tendered, had a slight Umami taste w a hint of soy sauce. The broccolini needed to be cooked for another 2-3 minutes. The steams were undercooked but the head was Al dente'. Ambiance was nice but the music was a little bit too loud when having a conversation. Love the Puerto Rican / Caribbean Disco Genre but I couldn't concentrate with the conversation. My head kept "bobbing" to the music. We both laugh cuz' we caught each other doing it. Would we come back? Yes, to try other food items. If you are starving you might want to order their skirt Steak layered Ají panca cream and pickled onions. Also add a side too. All items are a la carte. read more

Alex and Kenneth are the stars of the show at the bar!! They have perfected their craft in making martinis and meetings any/all expectations of the customer! The food was phenomenal and the drinks that Alex made just complimented every bite!! The ambiance is vibrant and the fresh breeze from the ocean is amazing! My only recommendation would be to play more local artists. I flew here for the RAUW Alejandro concert and would prefer to hear reggaeton instead of house music. I think it's important to recognize that there are still people coming to the island to enjoy the culture and music! Cheers to Alex and Kenneth for an amazing experience! One of our favorite parts of our Puerto Rico trip! This review will be a conglomerate of our multiple visits so pictures are a little out of order. That's how good Kumo Rooftop is!! The staff is very friendly and we were met with smiles by everyone. The views are unmatched and something you have to experience for yourself. The food and drinks are to die for! Hands down, that Picanha Wagyu is the best steak I have ever put in my mouth. Cooked to a perfect medium, it was incredibly tender and seasoned just right. We rotated through their side options as we kept coming back and everything paired perfectly with the beef. The Chef's Choice Dumplings also change depending on the day. We ended up trying an order of the dumplings with beef and they were incredible. The sauce is what dreams are made of! The bartenders also blow it out of the park. Every drink I had was super refreshing and mixed well. They carry a very extensive list of wines, sake, beer, cocktails, and mocktails! I cannot say enough good things. If there is one place you should do date night in Puerto Rico, it's this one. read more

The bartenders and staff were joyful, attentive, and just fun to watch. The drinks looked amazing and there was a great vibe. The big negative is we spent about $80 including tip for four drinks. This is a year late review but still deserves to be posted! Kumo offers small plates but is good for date night or group night out. Rooftop shows the view of isla verde beach & the rest of the city. It was beautiful and such a great experience. We did wish the plates were bigger but the food really made up for it, everything we ordered was delicious. read more

Fantastic experience and can't wait to go back! Food and ambiance were both amazing, and our server Sasha was great! Top dishes were the hamachi tartare, miso soup, dumplings, and whole chicken. Hands down the favorite dish of the night was the tartare, it was soooo yummy. The chicken came in at a close second, it had a delicious sticky glaze and was tender and moist! There were only two dishes that we found a bit lack luster compared to everything else--surprisingly the duck even though the fried rice was really good, and the mushroom skewer. Cool place. Very pretty. On a rooftop. However, sitting by the window, we got drenched and had to move when suddenly it started pouring rain. We wanted to try a bunch of things. Too many things. His favorite: steak tartare on crispy rice (which they did for me gluten-free, thank you so much). My favorite: the mushroom skewers. Really nice. The asparagus wasn't trimmed properly, so was a little hard to eat, with not much flavor. The miso chicken was cooked well and juicy, but I couldn't taste the miso and asked for more sauce. The waiter was really, really awesome. That was the best part of the night. They were really good with my food restrictions (gluten free and dairy free). read more

Showed up ar 430 for a 5 o'clock reservation to have a drink at the bar before dinner and they would not serve us. We were there Saturday at 4 o'clock and sat at the bar for a drink. Others were there as well. We went elsewhere for dinner. We've been there serveral times over the past 5 years and this is the first time we were turned away. I'd just have to say for most items for what it is, just overpriced & not my favorite option for dining or a nice rooftop bar. FANTASTIC RESTAURANT! It was our last night in Puerto Rico and we were SO HAPPY that we decided to eat here. The rooftop is very romantic and breezy but also fun and has a nightclub vibe. Our server Yael delivered superb service that you would expect from a high end restaurant. He explained the menu very thoroughly and made some excellent suggestions. (He even switched out our napkin coasters when they had too much condensation from underneath the water glass...it's the details that count.) I ended up ordering the Palta & Hamashi Tiradito and my husband ordered the Picanha Wagyu. Both were muy buena! Overall, it was super worth the visit, excellent service and high quality food selection. I highly recommend this restaurant to others. Absolutely amazing food, service, vibes, and view! This rooftop restaurant is right on the beach and comes with phenomenal views. We sat at a table right by the edge so we were really able to take the view in. Not to mention they also had a live DJ playing absolute bangers all evening. Be advised it can get windy up there, so keep track of your valuables. I would definitely advise on making a reservation beforehand and requesting a table by the edge to maximize your experience on this rooftop. To start off we ordered the King Peggo and Palta Hamachi Tartare. The King Peggo tasted amazing and my friend said the same about the Tartare. I then ordered the Ceviche - absolutely amazing. Everything in the dish complemented each other so well. We then ordered the Steak Skewers, Shishito Peppers, and Brussel Sprouts. Everything here tasted amazing and would definitely recommend trying and sharing as many foods as you can. I also ordered a cocktail for the rooftop vibes. This is the perfect spot for a date night or dinner post beach lounging (which is what we did)! If / when I go back to Puerto Rico I will 100% be coming back to Kumo Rooftop. read more

So happy to see a restaurant like this finally opened in the area! Kumo is an upscale asian fusion restaurant located on the rooftop of a hotel on the beach with fantastic views. This place isnt just ambiance though, as the food and drinks were also exquisite. The gin cocktail with peppercorn and tonic was very refreshing yet strong (one will do you good ). To start I ordered a salmon crispy rice which was incredibly tasty. The only downside was it had a bit too much sauce (the rice cake was drenched in it). For my entree I really went for it and tried the whole chicken (I was a party of one). It was so delicious! Well cooked, not too dry, the sauce was delicious, and it paired very nicely with the couscous that was made with spices used in indian cuisine + dried fruits. By the way, I make it through half of the chicken, but finished the accompanying couscous Overall, I really enjoyed this meal and am so excited to visit to try more of the menu. This meal was incredible. From the rooftop view of the Atlantic from Isla Verde beach to the welcoming service to the delectable meal - it was all perfect. My friend and I shared a salmon with crispy rice and an octopus ceviche. Then she had the noodles with beef and I had the meat delicious duck leg over fried rice. During my trip to San Juan, I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant, to my surprise it wasn't on Yelp. The restaurant on the Yelp app had a different name and has been closed for a while. However I asked the staff to provided me more detail information to suggest the changes to Yelp and I was able to experience how easy is to help local businesses. This rooftop bar is a gem, the bar is conveniently located in Isla Verde. The views of the Beach are breathtaking. The decor is elegant and beautiful. My party and I had cocktails and we had a really wonderful time. The food menu at the bar offers an Asian fusion cuisine, meat, seafood and small dishes but we were craving for some local food. We ended up having only cocktails. We tried a signature cocktail named Mulata, outstanding combination and great presentation. This cocktail had añejo rum, black tea, ginger beer, lime and a very delicate hint of lavender. It was very refreshing and the flavor had the perfect balance. This restaurant is truly beautiful. However, when we arrived we got water but I asked for a straw from our server, Crystal. She never came back with the straw; actually, she passed us by multiple times and hardly checked up on us. I asked about the dumplings because it said to ask your server and she had an attitude with us. When we got our food, we were delighted. We decided to get the dumplings, Japanese Skewers (steak) plus a side of sushi rice, and Anticucho Plate. She came back to ask us about desserts, in which we specifically asked for the pear budin, and she even asked if we wanted the matcha ice cream, in which we said no. Dined here tonight and the service is terrible despite the pleasant ambience I read a lot about Kumo and was excited to drive out of our way to experience it ourselves. First of all, this week there is a big festival in San Juan. Traffic is bad. We were 15 late to our reservation. When we arrived the horrendous person at the front desk said "your reservations been cancelled; you're only allowed a 15 minute grace period and I gave your seats away"... my jaw dropped. unreal. We spoke to the manager Camilla who was an absolute star. She got us seated at a beautiful table and was kind. Our waiter was very nice. We ordered the crispy rice app and wagyu with 3 sides for a main. They told us they don't have wagyu "they can't find it" so they are serving NY Strip and charged us $5 more.. even though it's on their menu.... can't make this up. We received the sushi appetizers which was good (nothing you couldn't get at Catch in NY) but the main course was following right behind it... We thought it was so strange but the food was taking some time so we just went with it.. 5 minutes later the waiter who brought the main course returned and said sorry I had the wrong table.... OMG. We had already started eating one of the sides so he left that... when our waiter came over we asked since they made the error if we could change one of our sides to something else for when our food comes out all together hot. The waiter came back and said if we want something different they'd charge us more because even though the brought a side out by mistake 30 minutes before we had dinner that was expected to be part of our "meal". I'm sorry I've been to a lot of restaurants and this is by far worse service that any fast food restaurant. The whole experience was really just comical embarrassing and not worth the time. Disappointing for something we were hopeful for. We should have known during that first interaction with the host. Downfall from there. We should have left when we had a chance. Also don't get the pumpkin side it was a big halve of cold mush with no flavor. Total letdown after the chefs menu at 1919. read more

Come for the view stay for the food. We ate at a few places in PR while visiting this week and this was the best food we had. The dumplings were great and the steak was perfect. Add to that the nice view and it's a great experience all around. My only advice is it can be a little warm up there during the hottest part of the day, maybe wait til dusk and watch the sunset. read more
