Kung fu tea is not a bad boba shop by any means, and their drinks are still pretty enjoy and relatively affordable/priced normally compared to other shops I've been to. However, I much prefer boba businesses which use more natural ingredients in their drink recipes and fresh fruits, and some of the drinks from KFT are heavily infused with dyes and other synthetic ingredients (which isn't abnormal, but like I said before, I just prefer boba companies which use naturally sourced and authentic fruit ingredients in their teas opposed to chemical flavorings). Furthermore, the quality of the boba pearls themselves are pretty inconsistent, as sometimes they are exactly the correct firmness that I like in my drinks, but then at other times (and this has occurred on several occasions), some or many of the pearls themselves are severely undercooked and are overly firm, almost tough and difficult to chew. Overall, I do enjoy visiting Kung fu tea because their drinks are not poor by any means, but I do tend to gravitate towards other shops in the area which I deem to be of higher quality for the same or similar price point. read more

I don't know if this place really deserves 5 stars, but I have a boba addiction, and quite frankly this place is my supplier so it gets 5 stars. This Kung Fu Tea is nestled amongst a street of restaurants directly across from the Clarendon Metro. It is in a great walkable location, and is open until 10 PM which is great if you're thirsty late at night. The interior is really nice with huge TVs displaying menus of how choosing your tea, sweetness level, and toppings work which was especially helpful the first time I went to the restaurant. The menu is so full of options from teas, punches, slushes, and yogurt combos and honestly everything I've tried so far has been good! Additionally, not only does this location have tea, but they also have Poke bowls. I appreciate the great variety that this store offers. Only con is that the tea can be quite pricey. A large tea including tip and toppings can run you as much as $7 which to me is kind of ludicrous. read more

Dropped by after having dinner in the area. For a sudden boba craving, this place would do the trick, but I would make the trek further into Fairfax County for better bubble tea options. I got the Oolong Milk Tea with Boba. The drink was a little too milky and plain for my tastes - perhaps I shouldn't have lowered the sugar level to 70%. The boba itself was nicely sweetened, which was pretty good, though it was a bit stickier and harder in texture than I prefer. For the person who gave this a two-star, shame on you! It's a soft opening for a reason and they are still working out kinks. Chill out. I came here with no cash on hand, but we didn't fret since going to an ATM to get cash is not a big deal if you are a true boba lover!! I was so excited to come here on day four of opening since it was a 15 minute walk from work, so I brought my coworker with me. We had a nice chat with the owner and talking about the difficulties it was to work with the county laws and getting the place set up, which took longer than expected. Opening up a new business is hard enough without having to deal with difficult customers, so please come here with an open mind. That's the point of a soft opening is to work out all these kinks and issues, so yes for now, it's CASH only so come ready. I'll be doing that tomorrow until the CC machine is ready. Oh Kung fu tea how you fuel my bubble tea addiction. I'm already a kung fu tea addict but was incredibly excited to hear a shop was opening up in Clarendon. No really, I literally jumped for joy. If you haven't had Kung Fu tea now it's milk tea but extremely customizable. I love this because friends with dietary restrictions (lactose intolerant or keto) can easily modify their orders and still enjoy the delicious taste that is bubble tea. This kung fu tea has all the flavors as other locations, and seemed to have a few more I haven't seen at some other locations. Initially they were having some opening issues with the credit card reader, but it seems to be resolved now. I'm sure to become a frequent visitor and hope this location sticks around! read more

I am a big fan of Kung Fu Tea, having said this, this franchise store in Clarendon is the worst. Of the 3 times we have been, they have been slow, even when we are the only customers. Ok, so if they are slow at least make the tea as ordered? Nope they cant and when it is their mistake they argue about it and lie and try to say it was the correct order. Point, Lychee Black Tea uses black tea so it should be brown not pale yellow. The server/cashier was rude the whole time as well. She needs to take a class in customer service. Kung fu tea is incredible! I ordered the Thai milk tea without bubbles and finished it in about half the time i expected to because it was so delicious. You can also tell that they have a loyal following, as most of the people there with us were obviously repeat customers. The interior was fun and bright, and they had pictures of customers on the wall that kept our attention while waiting for our drinks. The staff was lovely and super helpful for first time customers, which made it much less intimidating to ask questions. The two downsides - my friend got a matcha drink with bubbles and although she loved the taste, she said they went a bit overboard with the bubbles. I suppose this is personal preference, but definitely something to watch out for. Second, it's a bit pricey, my drink cost $4 for a medium (which i would guess is about 16oz and also included ice). Overall you can definitely expect me back at Kung fu tea again! read more

I always get two specific teas and would highly recommend them if you're unsure of what to get: 1) passion fruit green tea - 50% sweet, light ice, bubbles 2) kung fu tea (black milk tea) - 50% sweet, light ice, bubbles, pudding, grass jelly #1 is very refreshing because it's real tea (no milk) on ice -- get a large! #2 is a perfect dessert drink, but very filling, so get a medium (or large if you can be gluttonous like me). Teas take about 5-10 minutes to receive. Prices are pretty steep once you add everything, so expect to pay about $4-5 each. It's a weekly thing for me, but totally more worth it than a Starbucks drink. read more

Used to be great, my go-to spot for bubble tea. I used to be so loyal to them that I have a black-belt status on the app (the highest loyalty status). But now every time I go or order, they ALWAYS get my order wrong. Something is always wrong: either I get the wrong drink flavour, or the wrong topping or no toppings at all (which sucks, given that I have to pay extra for toppings). Literally the past five times I've gone, I've been given the wrong order. I'm totally happy to substitute my order or toppings with something else if what I've ordered is out of stock or for any other reason, but to not even be informed of that and be given something I don't want is kind of unprofessional. Kung Fu Tea is the most common chain in the DMV area from my experience, and that's because it's good. You have a large variety of choices. Good flavors and none that are too weird. Quick and consistent drinks as well. And the layouts of most locations are simple but not plain. I've been to this location once after visiting Hanabi Ramen close by, and it matched my typical expectations for Kung Fu Tea. The space wasn't made as much as a "chill spot" as some other KFT, but the design of the place was more appealing to me personally. All in all, this place gave me what I needed, and did it well. I am a big fan of Kung Fu Tea and have been to my fair share of locations all over the country. I really like this one especially for its convenience in location but also for its service. First off, this KFT has the typical menu you'd find at a KFT but also some new items. For those that are not familiar with KFT, they offer a wide array of options for milk teas. My favorites are the taro green milk tea and the peach oolong tea. They also have the typical thai tea and fruit slushies. They also have lactose free options and some hot drinks which are nice for the colder months. They give you the option to have no ice or light ice, as well as less sugar. Especially when it's cold outside, I just ask for no ice. The service at this location is great! They are very friendly and helpful when you cannot decide on what you want. They also are very quick with getting you your drinks. They have tables inside which are perfect for studying or meeting up with friends or lounging after eating too much at a nearby restaurant. I often went here to study and the staff was very nice about letting me stay for a long time. The location is really great too. It is right by the Clarendon metro stop and is very convenient. You can also find food spots nearby. All in all, I am a frequent visitor of this KFT spot and you should be too! read more

I absolutely love that I've discovered Kung Fu Tea, I never want to be without it! I've visited their locations in Arlington, Falls Church and in Clarendon (which is essentially Arlington too), and have to say that the service and quality of beverages is consistent at all of the locations I've been to so far. I love the Lychee Punch & my other go to would be the Mango Slush. There are so many toppings and add-ins that you can do to make your drink to order. Price is decent for what you're getting, the stores are always clean, and there is ample seating and WiFi. Such a cute little hip place for millennials to hang out and get some work done. I have been looking for a place that specializes in bubble tea and I found Kung Fu Tea as I was walking in the heat. The drinks were so refreshing and there were so many different flavors to choose from. My boyfriend tried the honey lemonade and it was amazing. You could really taste the honey, however the drink wasn't too sweet, which is great. I got the strawberry lemonade green tea bubble tea and I was a little disappointed because it was too sweet and you couldn't really taste the green tea. The bubble on the tea are the best that I've ever had. The place was very clean, artistic, and minimalist. The staff were very friendly.
