This place opened only 3 weeks ago but I've been here twice. I've loved bubble tea for such a long time and was SO excited to hear it was coming to Arlington. My favorite are the taro tea and the kung fu milk tea (keeping it simple), although I do have a soft spot for the almond milk tea as well. I love that you can decide how much boba you would like (30%, 50% etc.) as well as how much ice. This is my new favorite place! read more

A KFT that serves FOOD?! Sign me up! This Kung Fu Tea is right off of the main drag in Clarendon, small and sweet. Drinks are up to the Kung Fu Tea standard I've come to expect, and it's a pleasant surprise that they offer some noms as well. My coffee milk tea with boba and pudding was just as I wanted it, no complaints at all! They also didn't bat an eye at my large-ish group of friends all coming in close to closing time (though they did tell us we needed to grab our drinks and skidaddle.) KFT always hits the spot. I visited the Clarendon location for the first time yesterday and it did not disappoint. I ordered a milk green tea and was happy that I was able to adjust the sweetness and ice levels of my drink. If you want to chill there with your drink/food there's a section with about 5-6 tables where you can easily find a seat. I would say my only qualm was that the digital menu switches from screen to screen so quickly that you can't properly read the menu if you don't immediately know what you want to order. I had to resort to a paper menu. Despite that, I'll probably be visiting again soon! read more

New opening. PayPal machine was down again. Long line because their machine just went down and they stoooed taking orders while the manager was on phone troubleshooting. I had been to shops where if there machine is down, the cashier continue processing order with cash rather than have everyone wait. Line got very long in the meantime, almost as long as the lines in their Annandale location. The taro green milk tea was way too sweet even though we asked for no added sugar. Other places out less taro powder, and I think they forgot and added sugar to ours. The green milk tea was OK but I think I prefer their oolong milk or black milk. Green tea and milk doesn't pair as well together. Very limited seating, fewer chairs than all their other locations in the area (Georgetown, Annandale, Rockville). The good thing is that the location is great in Clarendon which is a street away from Trader Joe's and the metro. read more

This place is new and definitely feels like it-- the space is clean and modern. They also have free wifi if you're trying to sit and do some work. Their selection of drinks and toppings is pretty good, and they allow you to customize the sweetness of your drink which I really liked! I was really craving a coffee slush, but unfortunately they said they couldn't make any coffee drinks today :( I ended up ordering a half sweet strawberry slush with bubbles. I really liked the boba but the slush was still SO sweet. It was still good but next time I'll probably order my drink even less sweet and hopefully they'll have coffee! read more

So. Glad. Bubble. Tea. Finally. Came. To. Clarendon!! I stopped by for the soft opening and got a large almond milk green tea with aloe and regular ice and sugar. I couldn't adjust the sweetness cause it was already a part of the syrup.. which is odd cause I've never been told that before. Regardless the tea was pretty good, tasted slightly toasted which was interesting but I liked it! I can't wait to try their other regular teas. The delivery guy didn't have the oolong tea so I called Kung Fu Tea. I thought it would be an easy call - Kung Fu Tea would give me a refund or a voucher for future use. No. I waited on the phone for about 10 minutes for them to find a solution, which is that their manager would contact me the next day. So I left them my name, phone number, and email. Love Kung Fu Tea! My favorite drinks are the taro slush and the yogurt grapefruit with grape popping bubble, both less sugar. This location is pretty good. They have a bunch of new employees who are clearly still learning but overall a good location. The seasoned staff is much better at making drinks with the correct sugar and ice level ordered, also faster with them at the helm. I will go back for sure. read more

But, my constant boba slurping usually takes a hiatus during the winter months when the ice-cold tea just doesn't seem appropriate for the season. Enter Kung Fu Boba - where, (get ready, friends) - you can order it HOT! At first I was skeptical; what would Boba taste like warm? They already have the consistency of a slug, what happens if you place them in boiling liquid? Let me tell you, friend - Amazingness. Amazingness happens when you put them in hot liquid. I still remember the first time I ordered a Hot Green (Jasmine) Honey Milk Tea with Boba at a Kung Fu Tea in Charlottesville, VA. It was the most amazing thing I have ever tasted. Soul warming. The tea was delicious - it didn't taste fake or artificial like previous boba teas I have tried at other establishments. There was a hint of honey, the drink was super creamy, and the boba - goodness, the Boba. They were far from the lackluster gelatinous orbs I was fearing. They were slightly sweetened and super delicious. So much so, that I returned each of the three nights I was visiting Charlottesville for more! No joke. The force was that strong. Since that initial journey, I've become addicted, and try to hit up a Kung Fu Tea whenever I am traveling. I have since branched out to try other teas: Almond is good - very complex with spicy notes and a more robust flavor; coconut tastes more like young coconut vs. sweet coconut normally found in candy; Taro is rich and buttery (emphasis on the rich part!). But, I always end up going back to my old standard honey green. I've also tried getting the regular teas without milk additive, but find they are too strong for me...I need a little somethin-somethin' to mellow it out. All that being said - I admit, my first time ordering at Kung Fu Tea was a little intimidating! There is a giant menu, with many options. Take your time! If it's your first time, keep it simple and stick with milk teas. Also, be warned, these drinks are made very sweet - so if you're like me and you try to avoid sugar overload, make sure to adjust your sweetness (I routinely get mine 50% sweetness level, including the honey beverages). There are other options for customizations available from oreo add-ins to whipped topping. If you are getting a cold beverage, I would recommend less ice. Today I was the first in where there was no one and ordered then right after I order a line build up about 10 more people. I was very dissatisfied with the service. I came by during my school lunch break wanting a strawberry milk slush subbed with water instead (i order with sub water all the time in dc). The guy taking my order (forgot to get his name) told me "I'm not able to sub milk with water". I responded "i do this at the location in dc all the time, i have a dairy allergy why can't i sub it here?" He responded "I'm sorry I'm unable to do that, we aren't allowed." I responded can I speak with a manager please on this he said "the manager isn't here" and then stared at me. So i responded "ok" and walked out. I didn't appreciate this kind of service at all. Especially after experiencing a better quality of service at the DC location. When i made this request in the past it was never a problem. I think this kid just didn't feel like making my drink. I love this place. I find any excuse to get off at the Clarendon metro stop so I can come here. I live in DC and there are just no good boba shops in DC proper, except in Georgetown where there is another Kung Fu Tea but it is super inconvenient to get there. Kung Fu Tea just does their milk tea right and their boba is always cooked to perfect tenderness and has the sweet honey taste. They just always make quality boba, and have a bunch of different flavors and combos for whatever you are feeling. My favorite is the iced taro milk tea with boba, 50% sweet, and it never disappoints. Great convenient location, good quality boba! read more

Nice convenient location, but they only had 2 people working, at peak hour, with over 20 people waiting. Ordered at 6:36 p.m. and they did not start on my order until 6:52 p.m. I did not leave with my order until 7:02 p.m. I literally could have brought a pillow here and taken a 30 minute nap while my order was being made. Whoever owns this franchise needs to wake up and hire more people. All of the other KFTs I have been to, there are at least 4 to 5 people up front. read more

This KFT needs to borrow someone from the Tysons location to train their staff. They ran out of milk powder so they can't make any milk based drinks. They had to remake my drink three times and they still couldn't get it right. Six bucks down the drain because the third remake was way too sweet and nowhere near the 30% sweetness I requested. The second remake they forgot the bubbles and herbal jelly. The staff are nice and I just didn't have the heart to return the drink for a 4th time. Hopefully they'll get their act together soon but even then I'll probably stay away since parking is impossible to find. read more

Ordered Oolong milk tea 30% sugar. The taste is strange. It's like milk with cinnamon flavored oolong syrup. The candied bubble makes it too sweet even though I chose less sugar, perhaps because of the lack of tea flavor. I don't believe they used real brewed tea or oolong of good quality. It's ok as a bubble milk drink. But go to other places if you want authentic Taiwan milk tea. The store in Tysons does a much better job. read more

Finally, Kung Fu Tea is in town. This place looks really clean and mordern. I love their bubbles because it's always chewy and sweet, unlike other bubble tea places which bubbles are sometimes hard. It's a little difficult to find a seat at night when they get busy, but you can always find a seat during the daytime. Its located at Clarendon Metro next to some restaurants and bar.
