I've been coming to Kung Fu Tea Doraville for the longest time, even after I moved. It's just the one place I can really rely on and it's a mandatory stop whenever I visit GA...ALWAYS! Usually my orders are these: Kung Fu Milk Tea (which is black tea), with boba and/or pudding, The Oreo wow, and now, the Milk cap black tea. Coffee Milk Tea with pudding The Smore slush If I want something refreshing: Strawberry lemonade green tea with mango popping Mango Slush with mango jelly (sometimes mango popping) Passion Fruit Green Tea with Aloe Jelly or Herbal Strawberry Yogurt with mango popping or aloe jelly Their boba is the best on Buford Hwy and no one can change my mind about it! It has always been consistent every time I order and almost always fresh- especially their Wow boba, so sweet and better than any brown sugar other tea shops have- I'm talking about basic boba shops on the same road: Tan-cha, Cuckoo's, or Tea Leaf and Creamery, etc. Those other places, their boba are most times hard to chew on- sometimes over or under cooked or not fresh. And almost always, lack sweetness! The employees are patient and always helpful answering my questions (especially Allison). If a drink doesn't look right to me, there's no hesitation on a quick fix, as long as it's reasonable and possible! The employees always do their best to ensure your orders are correct- and yes, sometimes that does take a while...but let's appreciate what they do and that they do their best during these hard times (Covid)! At the moment, they do require masks, and provide hand sanitizer next to the register. Which helps me feel a little better about being in a small space. Came here with my sisters for an after-dinner treat. I'm honestly not a huge bubble tea fan, so I figured I'd just get tea w/ no special toppings or milk ( I got me an Oolong iced tea, not too bad). It is located in a tight plaza that shares it's parking lot to the famous El Rey Taco and So Kong Dong Duk, so just be aware of that. Decor is cute inside and plenty of seating. The guy at the cashier though was super awkward and rushed us with the ordering. I don't think that was his intentions, but sometimes it's better to greet the customer with a smile and perhaps a, "did you have any questions with the menu?" vs. a blank stare that makes me feel like you're just staring into my soul. Kung Fu Tea is a bubble tea shop that opened December 2013 on Buford Highway ITP (inside the perimeter) across the street from Pinetree Plaza. It took over the old Royal Foot Spa space (Royal Foot Spa moved to the shopping center next door), next to So Kong Dong. It's sandwiched between Taqueria El Rey Del Taco and Milano Bakery & Cafe. Kung Fu Tea is a popular bubble tea chain from New York and this is its first Georgia location. It opened in the middle of a 1.8-mile stretch of Buford Highway that has been growing in bubble tea options. From north to south, this little stretch includes White Windmill, Kung Fu Tea, Milano, Honey Bits, Sweet Hut, and Quickly. It doesn't include the restaurants that serve this stuff too. Unlike the other bakeries and cafes, Kung Fu Tea serves beverages only. No food or baked goods. The old foot massage space has been renovated and the new space is simple, modern-looking with a white-black-red color scheme, and clean. Two large, bright Kung Fu Tea signs are mounted on either side of the exterior storefront. Inside, big glass windows give wide-open views of the small shopping center parking lot and Buford Highway. The windows are treated with a semi-reflective film that allows customers some measure of privacy. Kung Fu Tea is comparable to Quickly (Buford Highway location) in terms of seating capacity. White Windmill, Honey Bits, and Sweet Hut are bigger. Kung Fu Tea has 5 tables and enough seating for roughly 20 folks, tops. These include one couch, a coffee table, and a high top table. There is no outdoor seating. I think these guys are a worthy competitor in the Atlanta bubble tea fray. In general, I've found their teas to be more milky and slightly less sweet when compared to their adversaries. More milk, less tea, which isn't necessarily a bad thing to me, but it could bother some tea aficionados. The bubbles (tapioca pearls) are outstanding and rival that of Quickly and Sweet Hut in terms of freshness and quality. You can tell the bubbles are made fresh as they're soft and appetizingly chewy. Sweet too. Teas come in two sizes: medium ($2.50 to $4.00) and large ($3.50 to $5.00). Toppings are extra (50 cents each). This means Kung Fu Tea comes out more expensive than the competition. In addition, when it comes to milk tea flavors, there isn't as much selection as the other guys. However, the menu is still pretty respectable with many fruit-flavored teas, coffee and coffee-based beverages, and slushes. Like some other bubble tea shops, you can customize the levels of ice and sweetness in your tea. Aside from tapioca, toppings include herbal jelly (grass jelly), nata jelly (translucent multicolored jelly), red bean, and mung bean. The herbal jelly is served in big chunks. When the jelly is fresh, it's super soft like the tapioca, but even softer. It's also slippery, squishy, and breaks apart easily with the suck of a straw (reminiscent of custard). The nata jelly is served in small cubes. The beans have a much different texture compared to the tapioca and jellies. They aren't smooth, but instead more "rough" and pasty. The mung bean topping, in particular, is sort of ground up into several small uneven pieces (smaller than the tapioca). It tastes good though, especially if you like having these sweet beans for dessert or snack (popular among Chinese). Your topping selection can influence the flavor of your tea. For example, if you order bubbles, the sweetness of the bubbles will make your tea sweeter. If you order herbal jelly, the flavor of the jelly will permeate into your tea. The more mild the tea flavor, the more susceptible the flavor is. The Kung Fu Milk Tea, a classic milk tea made with black tea, is solid. One tea that stands out to me is the Wow Milk Tea. It's actually a lactose-free milk tea, but I can't taste a difference. It may be my favorite tea here. I have no idea what's in it because the menu doesn't say except for it contains "special blends of home-made bubbles and lactose-free milk." If anything, it tastes like sweetened milk. Delicious sweetened milk. I wouldn't go lower than half-sweet on this "tea." The White Gourd Green Tea flavor reminds me of a Chinese tea my mom used to make when I got sick. It has a distinct taste. White Gourd is the same thing as winter melon fruit, which is used in Chinese soups, snacks, and drinks. It's sweet and can leave an aftertaste. If you're looking for a good non-milk tea, this one isn't bad. Try it if you've never had winter melon tea before. Service is good. I like how the girls wear cute shirts resembling traditional Chinese blouses. There's a neat machine behind the counter that shakes and mixes the drinks. It's fun to watch. Credit card minimum is $5. I think it's a tie w/ Sweet Hut but w/ each visit, Kung Fu might be winning. The bubble teas here are slightly more expensive and they charge an extra $.50 for bubbles (Sweet Hut is $2.75 incl. bubbles). I've gotten the Kung Fu Milk Tea ($3 + $.50) also known as Black Milk Tea and it was delicious, creamy and perfect. Next time I'd ask for less ice though. I've also had the Taro Slush ($4.25, no bubbles) and it was awesome. My friends loved their Oolong Milk Tea. Their Hot Tea only comes in large size - I prefer small or medium. I got the large hot Kung Fu Milk Tea for $4 + extra $.50 for bubbles. Wasn't crazy about their hot tea ... but kudos for having a hot beverage lid w/ large hole handy for sucking up the bubbles thru the large straws. Overall great option for bubble tea. This Kung Fu Tea always manages to disappoint me. The boba is so tough and hard to chew, especially if you stop by during a weekday. It doesn't seem like they make a fresh batch often, and they don't toss out the boba either if it has stayed out for too long. Its honestly disgusting to eat. They make their boba so sweet, it just tastes like overly sweetened honey instead of a nice brown sugar taste. Even though I got my drink at 50% sugar, it still tasted extremely sweet. You can barely taste the tea flavor because of how weak the tea base is. Also, if you come here don't expect to get your drinks topped off. 1/4 of my drink was empty and only looked like it was full because of the foam. Having worked at a boba shop before, you're expected to pour in a way so the customer gets as much drink as possible. The workers here don't seem to care and pour carelessly. The foam from mixing the drink ends up in most of your cup. Kung Fu Tea is always one of my priority stops when I am near Buford highway. As other reviews have mentioned, the parking at this location can be quite a nightmare due to the small size of the lot. Other than the parking lot issues, I really like this location. Pre-COVID it was always clean and very efficient with getting drink orders out. They have adapted fairly well to the pandemic and have modified their layout to allow for less contact while ordering and not have in-store dining. They also have an app that you can put your order in to allow for contactless ordering. They have such a HUGE variety of menu items that each allow for customization. I am not very into dairy, so I usually go passion fruit green tea with less ice (yes, you can dictate how much ice you want!) and less sugar...and of course add in boba. While I myself am a creature of habit, they have so many options on their menu that you can honestly try something new every single time you go in. read more

They recommended the milk tea with bubbles on the bottom and I said "that will be fine". It was hot outside and I wanted something cold and this a perfect soothing drink. The milk tea was awesomely delicious as I have never tasted a cold drink so good. Wow. I got the large size but I wish it came "bigger". It has ice cubes in it and the black bubbles are at the bottom. The drink comes with a straw that is bigger than most normal straws so that the black bubbles will come up through the straw. Also, they place a cover over the top of the drink that is glued to the cup. You use one end of the straw that is sharp to pop this cover. Then, you can enjoy the drink. Found our way here after a late night movie when figured our group would be better off chatting inside on some couches than hanging around the movie theater parking lot. So we did a quick Yelp search to see what was open and ended up here at Kung Fu Tea! I love bubble tea and was excited to check this place out, but a little weary because I recently have started to cut dairy and sugar out of my diet. And isn't this what tastes so good in bubble tea? WRONG. This place taught me that you don't need dairy or sugar for delicious drinks. I ordered the taro milk tea with bubbles which is my go-to drink, but with almond milk and no sugar. Expecting bitterness or blandness, I punctured the top with that typically wide bubble tea straw and sipped--and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't bland or bitter but smooth, flavorful and light. The bubbles added the perfect flavor mix as they seemed to have a slight touch of rose water which made it sweet but not over the top. The bubbles were so consistent and the perfect texture of not-too-chewy and naturally-sweet. The inside was cute with contemporary designs, though small, the service was friendly and they were playing Keys and Krates during our visit. Felt very homey! I was really blown away that they have so many options for people with dairy allergies and also people trying to cut back on sugar. If you look into it, dairy and sugar are just not good for our bodies, and this place totally respects that which is cool. This Kung Fu Tea is quick and provides great customer service. I feel like the #1 factor of the quality of a bubble tea place is their boba, and this location always has fresh boba. They're always warm, perfectly sweet, and perfectly chewy. It's never too hard or never too soft. They have NEVER gotten my order wrong, and I've gone here probably 100 times. This is the original KFT in my opinion, and they have the best quality. Also, even when they're busy the line isn't terrible long. The workers do a great job of making the line go by fast. The only downside to this location is the Parking. There's a tiny lot that she's share with two other restaurants and a couple of businesses. There is almost never any parking, but that's not really the businesses's fault. They do have an app that you can order ahead on, which is perfect for this case! No parking? I love coming back to KF tea for the lychee punch or any other fruity tea (under the Punch menu) You can definitely taste the tea. I LOVE this place, but the parking lot and layout make me take a star away. I know there's not much that can be done other than moving/remodeling, but it makes visiting this awesome place a challenge and should be noted. I love bubble tea, and Kung Fu has literally every iteration you can imagine. You can even customize the amount of sweetness in your drink! The drink quality is fantastic. You can see them making them right in front of you, and they work as quickly as they possibly can. Parking is fairly easy when it's slow. However, around dinner time it gets busy and sometimes you can't find parking because the parking lot is so small. Some days I get lucky but other days I have to park somewhere else and walk over. It's pretty small inside as well so when it gets busy it's packed. Sometimes the line goes out to the door. I like studying here though because their internet is pretty fast. Their seats are a bit uncomfortable though and there isn't enough outlet. I think kft's bubble tea is probably the best in Atlanta. My favorite is probably the oolong milk tea with pudding. It's not too sweet and the pudding really balances it out. I also like the lychee green tea. I wish they serve food here also like their Duluth location but they don't. read more

One of the 3 main boba tea heavy hitters on this road. I like this place a lot because it's consistent. They always have perfect boba pearls and their black milk tea is really good. Not once have they failed me as far as taste. That's my baseline for a good boba place: Black or Taro Milk Tea with boba and egg custard. I like how you can personalize a lot about your drink. It's slightly more expensive than the other places if you like toppings. Marginally though. This place is always packed with Emory students and families. The line is usually long and the parking is terrible. I hate trying to come here when it's busy. It's in a plaza with a lot of other busy places with a small parking lot. Sometimes I have to park in the plaza next to it. Atmosphere-wise, it's kind of sterile. A lot of people would probably appreciate it because of that. It's really clean and bright white. I don't really understand how my friends get studying done here, but this was their go-to spot for a short stint. The seats aren't particularly comfortable and it's usually a lot of people there. Maybe because I work on the computer when I study. The bright lights kill my eyes especially if you're working on graphics. I am REALLY picky when it comes to atmosphere for study spots. One other downside is that they don't serve food/snacks. Sweet Hut and Quickly do. Overall, drinks are ALWAYS great. Some of my other favorite boba places really suck at consistency- so major points to KFT. read more
