Not what I expected. When I visit a new location I usually go with their regular KF milk tea because thats pretty standard. Well I've been to this particular location a couple of times and we just cant get it right. For starters they don't have their signature cups. It's just regular cups with lids and they always say that they ran out of the cups. At one time it wasn't the right level of sugar and the bubbas tasted bland; then another time the drink was watery even after asking for less ice. Staff is nice, location is clean, parking spaces are available but the things that matter (the product) is not it. Their menu doesn't include food either. read more

First time I came here, I didn't know what I was in the mood for. The owner suggested the roasted chestnut milk tea which piqued my interest as I love chestnut. Apparently this flavor is not offered at a lot of other bubble tea places, as I've found out. So it keeps me going back to Kung Fu locations! It was an excellent suggestion and I loved the bits of chestnut in my drink! Make sure to ask for the syrup to be shaken up if you go to other Kung Fu Tea locations, because I learned the hard way. The owner told me the bits settle at the bottom and if the worker doesn't shake the bottle, you don't get the chestnut bits. The owner here is super nice and knows, so I'm partial to going to the Norfolk location. I always get it with less tapioca boba, less ice, and half sweet. My particular experience here was pretty average. I usually get a 50-75% reduced sugar amount and the Taro tea is my usually. Putting a Kung Fu Tea in Ghent was a godsend! This is the perfect pick me up drink place after a hard day's work. I have never came in and gotten a drink that I didn't like. The staff is always very friendly and have the perfect drink recommendations whenever I tell them how I'm feeling and what I'm in the mood for; they have never steered me wrong. During my most recent visit, Mya, who was mad helpful put me onto my new favorite drink, their Oreo Slush with extra crushed Oreos at the bottom. It's between the consistency of a milkshake and a smoothie and I've never quite had a drink like it before anywhere else. It's SO good. I've only been to the Ghent location once, and haven't been able to visit their VB location. But based on the my lone experience Kung Fu Tea is an awesome place. I arrived on a Sunday night and there weren't many people there. I didn't wait long after I decided on my order, and I was in an out within 4 minutes. There were 2 people behind the counter - one person taking orders and the second one making the orders. They both rocked it out and were friendly. I don't get out to Ghent as much as I used to, and when I am in the area it's always after 10p, so I likely won't get out to Kung Fu Tea much. But for the money, their drinks are quality. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a refreshing drink and is in the area and/or willing to hit up Ghent. JV read more

KFT never disappoint! This location in Norfolk is so different from Va Beach. The atmosphere and customers speaks for itself. The Norfolk is more of a chill spot, a place you can have business meetings, and just take it easy. The drinks are equally good as the VB location since you will see familiar faces from VB working in Norfolk, so the drinks are perfected to your liking as usual. For my very first visit at Kung Fu Tea, we decided to go to their Norfolk location. We've heard many good things about Kung Fu Tea so we finally give it a try. We wanted to go to their VA Beach location, but we figured that this Norfolk location is closer to us. We were fascinated on the restaurant's ambiance because it is bright and spacious. Walking inside the restaurant gives it's customers a "coffee shop" feeing. It makes us wants to sit down and stay there while we enjoy our drinks. The staff were very helpful and patient especially with me. I am not a big fan of milk teas so I normally get the "Winter-melon" tea. And lately, I have been having a hard time finding a good boba place that has just good winter-melon tea. With our servers help, she told me that I need to order just the plain winter-melon, no green tea or milk. I was really happy with her suggestion. There was also a little mishap about our order, but she fixed it right away. My winter-melon tea taste really great. The only problem I have is that they need to start serving small appetizers like popcorn chicken. I feel so full just by drinking so I feel like it would be nice to be eating while drinking tea as well. Overall, we are very impressed with our visit at Kung Fu Tea. 2019 was totally the year of boba for me. This summer, I was hooked to the point where I struggled to drive past any boba place without stopping in. I was probably drinking it 2-3x a week for a bit there. Kung Fu Tea is definitely my favorite option in Coastal Virginia. Their menu has enough for every level of boba connoisseur. Including fruit-based drinks if tea isn't your thing. You don't have to get any toppings, but I typically add bubbles to whatever I order. Some of my favorite things to order are- Cocoa Cream Wow Milk Strike- This is heavenly if you're looking for a dessert. It has been too sweet for some of my friends, but I think it is dessert in a cup perfection. Milk Cap- This is a thick, salty-sweet addition to your favorite tea. I like it best with honey tea, but enjoy it with the other options as well. If you are new to boba, I'd keep it simple and just order one of their milk teas to start off with. Perfect amount of caffeine to keep you moving without making you too wired. I suggest just going for the large, I inhale the medium. This location is never as busy as the VB location that I visit more often. This is great for days I'm feeling more adventurous and want to chat with the employees to find a new drink out of my comfort zone. Parking is a bit tricky though so I usually visit this location when I'm already on-foot in the area. read more

I introduced her to KFT while I was out here visiting her in April 2018, and she knows how much I enjoy their longan jujube tea so when she went to pick me up from the airport on Thursday, August 29th, she made sure to bring me a drink to surprise me. Sadly, she added boba to both of our orders & I'm not a big fan of boba so I couldn't fully enjoy it & ended up tossing it about half way through. Shhh! Don't tell her! I don't want to hurt her feelings. She ended up bringing us back on Saturday, August 31st after lunch & I got the same drink again. Sadly, this time the drink didn't have much flavor compared to the usual so I told her I was pretty disappointed, but she told me that it's normally good so I gave them a third chance to prove me proof. We came back again on Monday, September 2nd, around 1:45 PM & I told the young girl who took my order about the drink not tasting as good when I had it the other day & she told me that she'll be sure to make it the way I like it. Surprise! Surprise! Third time really is a charm! She made the drinks exactly the way I liked them. My girlfriend came back again on Tuesday, September 3rd, to order some more drinks for us before she dropped me back off at the airport. I think I got my KFT fill this trip! I'm addicted. Ok so, my kids begged me to come. So naturally I got off my couch and drove here expecting to be irritated with the taste of bland boba pearls! OMG I WAS WRONG! I swear they soak the pearls in honey or something cuz they were the best I have ever had. I typically tell them to go light because they are so nasty BUT not these The Oreo wow and honey oolong tea were my favs. My son got a mango slush and loved it but I was there for the tea, please! Lol The Oreo wow I believe had hot fudge in the bottom and Oreo pieces through out, but miraculously the Oreo never got soggy. Was it the hot fudge keeping it this way? Was it magic? I'll never know. The honey oolong I could drink all day it was just the right amount of sweetness. Very refreshing. Read good reviews about this place when I was at a nearby venue so decided to check it out because... Well... Boba is life. Got there at a good time since there wasn't a line in front of me. Ended up getting a taro black milk tea, because I judge most places on how good they are by tasting their taro. Husband ended up getting a honey oolong tea with fig jelly. My taro didn't taste like taro. It was like nothing I've tasted before. I'm not sure how to describe it since I've had taro made from powders before and ones made with fresh taro, and this tasted like neither. I can't describe the flavour, but I know I wasn't the biggest fan. Even then, it still tasted better than the honey oolong with fig jelly. The oolong was super strong, I could barely taste the honey and the fig jelly didn't have much flavour to it at all. My husband normally finishes everything, and even he didn't want this. Sadly, I ended up throwing it away. Ive found it hard to find a good Boba place in the HR area, but I'll keep searching. Until then, sadly... Another disappointment for me. read more

If you're from Ny, or other places that have massive choices of bubble tea, sorry to disappoint you, they are not as good as some other bubble tea shops like Gong Cha or Coco. However, for people who live near this area and rarely travel to other places and can get good bubble tea, congratulations! This is by far the best place in this area where you can get bubble tea or other tea. I had the bubble milk black tea, 30% sweet and less Ice. Finally there's a place than actually made my drink less sweet (I'm so picky when it comes to the sweetness of my drinks). The teas taste great! They have their own type of tea that they use as their base for most of the drinks. They have a wide variety from slushies to hot coffees and teas. You can build your own and even control the amount of sugar and ice in your drink. They have different types of boba and flavours of jelly. There is something for everyone on the menu. My husband really appreciates the fact that they have more traditional Asian flavours as well, such as taro, red bean and mung bean. I quite like the grapefruit yogurt which they haven't had lately. The only thing that could really take this place to the next level is the use of real fresh fruit. Its has quite pop music in the background and its a nice place to just chill out, study or read a book. The staff is always smiling and cheerful with a good knowledge of the menu. I've loved KFT since they were just in NYC and was super happy to hear they were opening up a Norfolk location. The menu is pretty standard so no qualms for taste or tea quality. Two glaring issues though. 1) My issue for this particular KFT is that the service is always SO slow. And it's not even as poppin' as other KFTs can be. Every time I've been here, it takes 5 minutes to get acknowledged even if there's no line at the register and longer than usual for me to get my order. 2) If your store hours say you're closing at 8:30 and the doors are closed at 8:15, maybe turn off the neon light that says open? There was someone working inside who saw me before I got to the door, didn't say or motion anything to me, and just stared blankly at me as I reached for a locked door. Like y tho? Has KFT taken away so much of your soul that you can't muster basic courtesy? Rude! SIGH. Hope my next few experiences are better. This new KFT is a hidden gem in Ghent! Not too many people know about their opening yet, so it's the perfect time to grab drinks without a super long line. I got the mango green tea with nata jelly, a perfect summer drink when you want something lighter than milk tea. Happy to know there is now a KFT closeby whether I'm at home or work! I was able to visit their new location on my lunch break. I arrived just as they opened, and there was only one other customer. So I was relieved that there was no line, as you'd usually expect from the VB location. The location is brand new, so it was nice and clean. Decorated more on the modern side, with a New York theme. Oh, and another plus- their AC works waaay better. There were only 2 people on staff, both were friendly and helpful. I saw that they have other flavors not available at VB but since I only had a few minutes to spare on my lunch break, I went for one of my usuals- the Caribbean Breeze. This time, instead of the nata jelly, I added the aloe instead. Much better with the aloe, and the drink itself tasted just as good as the first time I had it at VB. Kung Fu Tea never disappoints! This was my first time visiting this location. With so many choices and options, I was grateful that the cashier helped me choose a wonderful "Cappuccino" boba tea. To be honest I usually hate cinnamon, but their "Cappuccino" boba tea was incredible, with tons of cinnamon on top! I ordered it 0% sweet and it was just the right amount of sweet.
