Kung Fu Tea is a franchised brand with plenty of locations around the US - as well as locations in Australia, Canada, and Vietnam. Admittedly, I'm usually a bit of a snob about chain locations, but the Kung Fu Tea location in Destiny USA is pretty top notch for a chain location. Kung Fu Tea isn't some artisan bubble tea place, so it's good to keep your expectations in check... but their teas are tasty AND you can customize your bubble tea for your tastes (plus, they have special flavors during various seasons). Some places make bubble teas that are way too sweet for me, for example, or they fill them up with ice and leave minimal room for actual tea and boba. Kung Fu Tea's ordering process allows you to customize for those tastes... and I always get my tea orders with less sugar and less ice. Every time I've ordered tea from this location, the taste is just what I'm looking for. Also, this location specifically is exceedingly quick at filling drink orders (which, considering there's a sizable line pretty much 9 times out of 10? Located on the second floor of Destiny USA close to Michael's craft supply store, this bubble tea joint was a must visit over my labor day weekend. All summer I've been getting acquainted with the deliciously sweet, milky and bubbly concoctions but they always been from large franchises. Unfortunately I have not tried these in Asia and can't tell if it's the "real deal", but Kung Fu Tea looked successful judging by the amount of people waiting in line. I got the honey milk tea with pearls and my partner got the coffee milk tea. Service was speedy, drinks were made to our specifications however what disappointed me the most was the lack of flavored milk tea options. Compared to other places, Kung Fu does not offer many fruity variety of their milk teas. I was hoping for exotic flavors like mango or lychee but the menu is limited. I also thought that they were not very generous with the amount of bubbles scooped into my tea and these pearls were too soft. I understand there are cooked in batches throughout the day so it could just be a fluke. It should be noted that all their milk teas are made with non-dairy milk so this can be a plus for anyone with diet restrictions. However, they're still really good, and the fruit teas here are among the best. Especially the lemon black tea which absolutely rocks my world. The Milk Teas that do stand alongside any of the best chains, though, are the Honey Oolong and the Oolong. The Honey Milk Tea is pretty good too. But always get Black Teas, not Green Teas. They're just better. In my opinion anyway. And getting these teas hot can really change the game on a winter's day. It makes the tapioca balls hot too. The Honey Oolong in particular is sensational when hot. This particular location, hidden deep inside the former Carousel Mall (now known as Destiny USA which sounds like a stripper), has really wonderful service - and fast as well, which makes a change from the slow locations in Buffalo and Cleveland. I did not expect to walk by a place like Kung Fu Tea while walking around the Destiny USA mall but I'm sure glad i did! Bubble tea is huge in Toronto and I visit places like this regularly to quench my thirst, however it's not something you see very often in Western New York so I was super duper excited to try this place out. The line was pretty long on Sunday due to people who were visiting the Salt City Comic-Con (I was not one of them) coming for tea. I was extremely thirsty from spending the last few hours out in the heat walking around the zoo so I decided to get a passion fruit slush which is something I had not had in the past. The drinks only took a few minutes to come out and from there it was love at first sip. The passion fruit slush had so much delicious fruity flavour that it made me rather irritated that i had to actually wait for some of it to melt because it was, well, slush. Usually when I'm at a bubble tea place I look for the chocolate option but this place taught me to be an adult and definitely go with something fruity! Overall, Kung Fu Tea is a fantastic addition to the Destiny USA mall! When I pointed this out, they asked me to buy another one and told me all the bubble tea shop in the states sell "non-dietary creamer" when they say "milk tea". I asked the staff before ordering about the difference between matcha milk and matcha milk cap, and he said "it's the same". The line wasn't long on that day. Only two people were line behind me. I ended up threw my matcha milk cap because it taste not good at all. The staff should give better service. If customer asked about your menu then you should be able to explain it well. This is a solid place to get a quick milk tea that will not disappoint. I tried this location after already deciding I do not like bubble tea, so maybe this is just not my thing - take with that what you will. First I am surprised to find this in Syracuse. Either Bubble tea is getting more mainstream or Syracuse is getting more diverse. With a clean environment, fast service, and friendly staff, Kung Fu Tea is the BEST place in Syracuse to get bubble tea. The taste of the tea is not too strong or sweet, so you wouldn't get a bad aftertaste and feel the need to drink water. The MOST important part is that the tapioca​ "bubbles", which has a great texture that is not too soft or soggy. They should be individual​ chewable yet firm bubbles that wouldn't clog the straw. Kung Fu Tea also has a great selection of flavors, from the boring green tea to TARO or pumpkin oolong tea (its basic yet hipster at the same time). I would recommend​ the TARO. The price is also very reasonable. The only con is that you need to drive to destiny and find parking just to get the bubble tea. But if you're already at destiny, stop by for a drink. read more

This is a chain boba shop located upstairs in Destiny USA mall. It is the best boba tea place in Syracuse. They have some seating inside and do not sell snacks (like popcorn chicken or fish balls) the way other boba shops might. The only snack I saw was Pocki. I downloaded their phone app so I could get my first drink for free (basically). With the app, you get $4 toward your first drink, free drink on your birthday, and a free drink every 12th drink. The app lets you add a credit card so you just have to scan the QR code on the phone when you come next time. I got a small/regular sized oolong milk tea with grass jelly and it cost $4.05 (so I just paid 4 cents). They don't ask you if you want to adjust sweetness/ice so I was worried that my tea would be too sweet. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it was perfectly sweetened (I am the type of person that likes tea either not sweetened at all or only sweetened a tiny bit)! They have a wall with Polaroid pictures as decoration. For those that do not like tea or do not want caffeine, they have juices/smoothies as well and no-tea "milk teas" like taro milk tea. Under seasonal flavors they had a pumpkin drink. I am not sure if this flavor is up all-year because pumpkin doesn't seem like much of a summer thing. I tried the grapefruit yogurt drink, no ice, lightly sweetened and thought it was great. They use Yakult yogurt to make it. I also tried the winter melon green milk tea with light ice and less syrup. It had a nice bittersweet flavor and was very yummy. I like that you can choose no sweetness, 30% or regular. You can also choose the ice level. They call their coconut pineapple jelly nata (or something?). They call their grass jelly "herbal jelly." I like that each drink is shaken in the shaking machine so it leaves a foamy top. I ordered a large special bubble tea, carribean breeze which con sisted of guava, papaya, and pineapple, and requested the tapioca bubbles. Very delicious and well made. Only four stars though because it took a few minutes longer than necessary considering one drink that was ordered was spilled putting into a cup. also the bubbles need a but more draining from the liquid they sit in which is evident on bottom of cup. I ordered one boba tea. There was only one person in line before me, and one person after me. About 4 minutes after I ordered a group of 6 people came, and then a line started. I watched the person before me (#9) get their order, I was number 10. Then #11 got their order. And then #12 (the group of 6) and I watched more people and groups get their orders while I stood and waited. They even told #16 that they were out of what he ordered and asked if he wanted to order something else, so he did, and he and the person he was with both got his order. I asked the woman making the drinks If my order was done (it was just a orange green tea with boba) and she gave me a look and told me I had to wait to be called. After that she and the people behind the counters acted fake apoplectic saying "We can make it now! Are you sure? " That is what pissed me off the most. I didn't even ask for a refund because my friends were waiting for almost half an hour and we live an hour and a half away and needed to get going. I live in a small city so the closest boba place we have is this one and it's not often we make an hour and a half one way trip to do something. I paid for something I never got, and I left a cash tip. They tried to say they "gave my drink away" but the person before me got a slushy and the guy after me got a taro drink. So I highly doubt it. They just didn't make it/forgot to make it. But at the very least, the woman at the register knew I got one simple drink and watched 10 groups of 15+ people come and go while I was stood there waiting. Honestly it was just pretty shitty. I was in the mall and I happened to spot the Kung Fu Tea, I literally ran across the mall to get Bubble Tea. Service was quick, price was reasonable. The bubble to tea ratio was perfection! The best Boba joint in Syracuse. There is no close competitor. Unique tea house is a close second, however there's a distinct difference between Unique tea house and Kung Fu tea. The black tea flavor is much stronger here, and that is the weakness that most boba tea places struggle with. It is very difficult to steep black tea to the point of high concentration and not let it be too diluted when mixed with ice and condensed milk or half-and-half.
