Boba tea makes my world go round and round. King Fu Tea was founded in 2010, in Queens, NY. There are over 350 franchised stores in the U.S. Their process is, picking the most quality tea leaves, brewing it at the correct temperature, and steeping it for the right amount of time. The tea leaves are from Taiwan and it's brewed every 3 hours; the boba is cooked every 2 hours. The strawberry lemonade and orange green tea are made from freshly squeezed juices. On this visit at the WeHa location, I was walking by and had to pop in. I ordered the small milk tea with grass jelly and normal sweetness. I loved everything about the drink. They had so many flavors to choose from, I was having analysis paralysis. There were signs to download the Kung Fu Tea app for discounts. There were plenty of seating and the place looked clean. Fun fact, whenever I get my hair done in the area, I visit kung fu as a Takeaway treat on my way back home. I tried several of their bubble teas and I think I've perfected my order. I usually opt between some sort of Matcha or green tea of sorts, but I absolutely love their Boba and nata jelly. But my absolute favorite is the milk cap - it's a must for me.. that salty sweet combo is everything. If you are a fan of that savory combo, I highly recommend you give it a try. read more

Fairly consistent in quality, cleanliness, and service when you come to KFT in West Hartford. Someone is always welcoming you in and wishing you a happy day when you leave, which is always appreciated. When I am around the West Hartford and need a Boba Fix, Kung fu tea is my go to! The staff is always friendly and patient. The place is always clean. My go to is taro milk tea and it's always made correctly. The boba tapioca balls alwsy soft and chewy. There was one day I wanted something different and ask the cashier for suggestion. she suggested the rosehip lemonade and it just want I wanted. It's finally nice to get Kung Fu Tea nearby not having to go to Boston or NY to get some! The ordering process was quick and easy but there was a bit of a wait to get our drinks because they only have 3 shakers and it was quite but at the time. Because the store is still new I couldn't find their location through the app and I couldn't get the rewards and promotions. Hopefully that'll register soon. The store is nicely decorated and service was pretty quick. Easy to read menu which plenty of drinks to choose from. Drinks are easy to customize as well. So I have been a Kung Fu Tea fanatic for around 10 years. There weren't any locations close to me so I always had to get it in big cities and college towns. Recently, during my graduate studies at UConn we got a Whale Tea (see my review on that) and I love it but was wondering how much my Kung fu tea love was wavering since I haven't had it in nearly 2 years. Finally, I was able to try this new(ish?) location in West Hartford! Here is my unabridged opinion: -Kung Fu tea is 100%, no questions asked, absolute reigning champ of the best milk tea in all the land. It's always on point. Immaculate. Amazing. The Kung Fu milk tea is where it's at. I haven't had it in so long and forgot how pure the flavor was. I will be getting it every time I'm in WeHa. -The boba is...good. It's not the best. It's better than a lot I've had but not the best. I still think Whale Tea boba reigns supreme (see my review of their Storrs location). Moving forward, I think I will get just a classic KF tea without the boba. The tea is amazing enough on its own, it's doesn't need the boba. I will definitely be returning to this and other Kung Fu tea locations! read more

If you look at the Kung Fu Tea app, you'll see I've been ordering from KFT since college. When I heard they were opening (finally) in CT and in West Hartford specifically, I knew I'd end up here a lot. My go to is the honey oolong milk tea with boba. Appreciate they can adjust to less sweet and less ice since that's exactly how I like it. My husbands go to's are lychee punch with Crystal boba and the mango green tea with Crystal boba. There's always something new to try and a promotional cup to make things fun. Whether it was the minions and currently (June 2023) it's Pokémon Go, there's always something going on to add to the experience. By downloading the app there's plenty of rewards to collect and deals that can be happening without us knowing. Love Kung Fu tea no matter where I go and happy it's here in West Hartford! read more

I am seriously addicted to Kung Fu Tea's Oreo Wow Milk Tea. Oreo pieces with warm boba... YUM!!! I crave it every weekend and could probably drink it for the rest of my life and never get sick of it. I have a soy allergy and a lactose intolerance, so I am THRILLED that Kung Fu Tea has their "Milkstrike" collection with Lactaid and WOW bubbles. Their menu is huge and offers every option you could want. The staff at the West Hartford location are super friendly. They always offer their favorite suggestions and are patient as we struggle to make our decision. Their cafe is small, but clean and offers plenty of seating along the wall. I really love bubble tea, and had high hopes for Kung Fu Tea. Unfortunately, this place was just okay. The menu seemed to have a lot going on - I wish the drinks had better descriptions of exactly what they were. I played it safe and ordered the Thai Milk Tea with boba and a milk cap. The drink wasn't terrible, but the flavor just didn't do it for me - I think the milk cap was the worst part...it was too salty for my liking. I did think the overall atmosphere of the shop was fun - the machines that shake the drinks was entertaining since I've never seen it before and the staff was friendly. I went here to buy gift cards for my cousins. I looked online and it stated that if you purchase a gift card online, it's only for merchandise bought online. To go to the store to get gift cards to purchase items from the store. I don't live anywhere near there, so finally got there to buy them and I was told that they don't have gift cards. The website says they have gift cards. What store doesn't sell gift cards? King Fu Tea opened just a few weeks ago in West Hartford and I've been wanting to try them. I've visited one of their other location in New York previously, but honestly couldn't remember how I liked it. The store is very crisp and inviting inside, there are a few high tops for sitting inside, or some outdoor tables. There is a lot to choose from on the menu, milk teas, and fruit teas, and other teas that might have ice cream as the base. They also had a special promotion for their grand opening. Buy one get one free on select teas. This ended up being very complicated, and cost the same as not using the promotion. I was very confused. I got the Winter Melon tea with tapioca. It was very refreshing and sweet. They were pretty generous with their serving of tapioca. I continued chewing on the tapioca long after the tea was gone. This is a nice place to get your bubble tea, I can't see myself going here too often because of how sugary these things are. Their pricing system is also a bit sneaky. read more

The wait is finally over!!!!! I am so happy to have a place to get amazing bubble tea. If you know me you would know that I love bubble tea before most places or people even knew about what bubble. This was my first time visiting Kung Fu Tea. They have an extensive menu that includes classic teas, milk teas, milk strikes, punches, slushes, and espressos. They also offer a huge variety of toppings like popping bubbles, jelly, bean, pudding, and milk caps, with so many choices and combinations that are available you can make the drink of your dreams. It was also very cool to watch the teas being prepared. Went with a large taro milk tea with boba, no ice, and light sugar. It was very good. The service was also super speedy and the store was super clean and spacious. I've been here at least 4 times by now, but unfortunately it's always a hit or miss. There is no consistency in the drinks. My 1st order ever, I tried an Oreo wow and honey milk tea, & both drinks were way too milky. The 2nd time though it was great! The 3rd time, I ordered online, and there was no bubbles in my Oreo wow. The person behind the counter said I have to specify if I want to add bubbles... This made no sense as the description says it comes with bubbles. The most recent disappointment was was yesterday 8/20. Late evening, I ordered the same pick up order. I ordered 5 Oreo wow, and per earlier suggestion, paid 65 cents EXTRA each for bubbles. When I went to pick up the order, the lady behind the counter said I didn't need to include bubbles in the order, as the order already comes with bubbles. So I basically paid extra. I told her that previously they had told me otherwise..welp Anyway, I took my first sip of the drink and the boba was UNPLEASANTLY HARD. I thought it was an Oreo, but more sips and the boba was plain hard. I thought it was just my order, but nope, my whole family experienced the same. Across all 5 of our Oreo Wow drinks, there was a mixture of hard and soft boba. That is not the usual standard for Kung Fu bubbles. I've had bubbles from many good places both in NY and CT, and know what a fresh and soft/chewy bubble should taste like. I called the store the same night to complain. I spoke to the manager Anna and explained the situation. She put me on hold to go try the boba and said there nothing was wrong with it. Only after I initiated with asking what they can do for me next time, Anna offered to come by if i am around (which wouldn't work, as I don't live near WeHa and had already driven off by the time I had my drink). Anna said she would not allow her employees to give free drinks another time. I told her I have a email account associated with my name etc. which I normally order from. Anna was cordial over the phone and the staff in general is friendly, but I'm still really disappointed. The order was around $35 and there was no alternative offer from Anna besides coming back that day. As other Yelp reviews have pointed out, the bubbles here are not the best. If you still decide to go here, I would highly recommend to try your drink at the location when you receive, so you can let them know on spot if anything is wrong with your drink. read more

I highly recommend the Oreo WOW. There's so many drinks on the menu it's hard to know where to start. The WOW drink is made with non-dairy milk and their own Kung Fu tea boba. Tasty tea. Great service. Super staff! A family member dropped a tea as we were walking out the store. The staff remade a replacement at no charge. Our kid was really happy! This was also on the fourth of July. I have been waiting to try this place and made it a point to include it in my plans on Saturday! Went after dinner and there was a line to the door so with a sad heart I decided to try somewhere else. Still avoiding closed spaces and crowds if I can due to COVID. The line was completely gone! Their menu is pretty self explanatory and laid out in steps for you to plan your order. My husband got a Thai tea, regular across the board and I got a taro w/black tea, 70% sugar, regular ice, and a milk cap. The milk cap is froth that's sort of sweet and salty at the same time. Made my taro SO CREAMY! The boba were just enough sweet and tender but not mushy. The only thing was at first they forgot to add my milk cap and I had to ask them for it; which meant they had to redo the drink but they were very nice about it. The inside was somewhat unclean. Seeing as it was a busy Saturday night it was understandable, but they did have a lot of people working so maybe they could try harder on that.
