Playa Bowls makes me happy. Sometimes you're craving something fresh, hearty, healthy, and filling. Playa Bowls hits the mark every single time.

If you love açaí bowls, Playa Bowls is the place to go! I always get one of their custom bowls, but they have other options as well like smoothies and other little snacks! I like that you can pick from different bases like açaí and pitaya! The service was quick and the workers were kind and welcoming. It's a nice spot to catch up with friends with plenty of seating. Definitely recommend if you're in the area, such a cute little place! Can't wait to be back to try their other bowls.

So good!! I got the Beach Bum with vanilla whey and it was super delicious and refreshing. The portion size was perfect, the fruits tasted fresh, and the flavors all went together well. Quick service and plenty of seating inside and outside.

This location is super comfortable and clean with tons of seating. The service is great with a staff member giving you a rundown of different menu options and seasonal specials. I ordered the Lola Green Bowl (kale blend topped with granola, pineapple, mango, coconut flakes, honey) which looked exactly like the image online. I also tried the Sweet Cream Cold Brew for the first time which was was delicious! In my opinion, it's better than New Orleans-style coffee at other places.

So my second smoothie bowl, and I believe that I have reached a consensus. I do not like these bowls, at all. My review is going to be a bit jaded, and I understand that. After having two lackluster blended fruit bowls, I don't understand the appeal. It kind of reminds me of avacado toast. Avacados are good enough, toast is good too. both together are okay, but is it worth 10 bucks? These fruit smoothie bowls remind me a lot of avacado toast. it's decent, and could be good, but the price is kind of insane. The location itself is fine. The people are friendly, the place is well kept and very nice looking. The fruit is fresh, the bowls are presented well. If you really enjoy these types of bowls, then I can see how this would be a good option to get one. For me though, it's incredibly expensive slightly better for you ice cream. I say slightly better because it's half the calories for the same portion of regular ice cream, but still not what I would consider "healthy". Healthier, compared to other things. But not worth the price tag. This particular bowl was the acai power bowl. Banana, peanut butter, granola, and chocolate protein powder, with an acai base. Right off the bat, chocolate flavor was not there. Peanut butter is the same bland affair as the other bowl place I been to. The banana was good, and the granola was crunchy but *shrug* it's granola. The acai base, that was the only flavor the bowl had. It was slightly sweet, slightly creamy, and overpowered everything. There are a lot of strong flavors in this bowl, and the acai destroyed all of them. It was kind of impressive, but also a big letdown. Compared to the other bowl place i've been to, kind of feel that they are similar but the other one gets the edge because the price was slightly less and despite them having a lackluster peanut butter the flavors were still pretty pronounced. Do appreciate that this place avoids using chia seeds though, since I am not a fan of the texture chia seeds give things. They do have it on the menu, but it's not used in everything. I'm probably going to be avoiding these places from here on out. If you like these bowls, then you will find plenty to like at this location. Big selection, helpful staff, and a nice looking spacious location. If you never had a bowl before, it's worth trying once.

This heat today had me saying " I need a Shaky Shaky Shaky " I went nice and early this morning to get my Green Smoothie. Did I drink it right away ?! Noo.. it was perfect after my mid morning Hike I had! It was delicious. My Green Smoothie had Kale, banana, pineapple and coconut milk. There was soo many to choose from ! But , happy with my choice! I couldn't taste any kale which didn't bother me but I know I was getting my veggies in. When I walked in Playa Bowl, I felt I was in A tropical Place , on the island some where. Pineapples everywhere! Decore was cute . Enough but not to much . Chill place to enjoy your smoothie or bowl. Everything was nice and clean too! The menu was huge! They offer so much from Smoothies, to bowls to fresh pressed Juices, coffees and some locations even offer poke bowls! I would love to go back and try the fresh pressed juices ! Everything they offer is healthy, fresh and great for a pick Me up through out the day . Staff was even friendly as well! Thank you CT Yelp for allowing us to try Playa Bowl and giving us our cute little Yelp Goodies!

When I get an açaí or a chia seed bowl I like to think it's a healthier choice then other possible breakfast options. I like going to Playa Bowls, they have a variety of bowls to choose from. The West Hartford location is very colorful and beach inspired. They have a couple rotating baskets you could sit on. They also have a few seats outside. There are people who spend a while here, working on their computers. Most recently I got their Chia Tella Chia Pudding. First, I really enjoy chia pudding. When I make it myself, it isn't thick, it's runny and a fail. Chia pudding as a base is rich in protein and fiber. Now what will go on it? Mine was packed with fresh strawberries, banana, granola, plenty of chunky coconut flakes and Nutella. Hmm.. after all that is it still a healthy breakfast? But it sure was very filling and delicious! My friend got the coconut bowl called Coco Craze. Personally I think it's much too sweet. Hers had a creamy coconut base with coconut milk, topped with banana, pineapple, granola, mango, coconut chunks and honey. She really enjoyed it. The bowls are a nice generous size. If it's a breakfast I have one on my own, if it's a snack I'll share it with a friend. I loved the combo of my toppings, they're sweet and a great balance for a morning pick up. I never feel like I ate too much. The price for the bowls ranges $9 - $12. My bowl was $9.00, if you'd like other toppings added, it's an additional .75 cents for each topping. I enjoy coming to Playa Bowls and getting a chia seed bowl. They also offer smoothies, juices and coffee. I have one small criticism. I wish their trash cans were the stepping kind. Instead you have to pick up the lid by hand to dispose of your trash. Touching trash cans should be avoided. I know they're more aesthetic, metal and fit the beach vibe, but for the everyone's well being, we shouldn't have to pick up lids to open trash cans.

First time customer and this place is great! The inside is fun and colorful. Also, the cashier was kind and helpful. I got the Aloha with a wheatgrass add on and it did not disappoint! Still sweet and healthy! I can't wait to try more

I have stopped into another Playa Bowls in New Jersey around my sister's house and was excited to see one open up in my backyard. Continuing with the same beach/summer layout as the one in New Jersey, you'll forget that you are drinking a cold smoothie in the winter time. There was ample seating for large groups but also a few chairs by the fireplace for a more intimate gathering. You'll be jamming out to the end style music while chatting and eating. I needed something to sip on at work so opted for a smoothie instead of their bowls. I can imagine the bowls are the same as the ones in New Jersey, so I'll enjoy them next time. The smoothie was light and refreshing, didn't fill me up but was still filling and wasn't just filler foods. I have enjoyed their take on Açaí. I had the Açaí Energy smoothie which is a nice change up from the typical ingredients that I find at other smoothie locations. I'll have to bring my sister here and really have a conversation about Playa Bowl

Acai Energy Smoothies and Orange Power Smoothie
    Margarita S.

We were in Whole Foods when we were craving a smoothie. We checked our google maps to find this location within walking distance. After we purchased some stuff at the Whole Foods, we walked over (a nice stroll) and placed our orders for the Acai smoothie and the Orange smoothie. They were extremely busy and they made our order incorrectly (we paid for the 20oz açaí and got 16oz). They quickly remade the 20oz smoothie and then offered us to keep the 16oz one since they'd have to get rid of it anyways. Really sweet of them to offer the smaller size to us complimentary! Both the açaí and the orange were delicious and the shop was clean and lively!

    Nutella Acai Bowl
    Rachel S.

First time trying this place and they did not disappoint! I tried the Nutella açaí bowl and it was delicious. Strawberries, bananas, açaí, granola, Nutella, topped with fresh coconut. Ingredients were fresh and everything was made to order. They had a variety of smoothie and bowl options and the price was fair for the quality. I also thought it was a chill atmosphere. Inside I felt like I was in California and for a moment felt like I wasn't in CT anymore till I stepped back outside of course. (They also have wifi) I like that they had a board explaining what certain foods were good for in regards to your health. It teaches people and makes them aware of what they are putting in their body. They also have an app where you can collect points and earn rewards. I mean who doesn't like a good deal! I plan on spreading the word and will definitely be back to try some other great options on the menu.

    Dolce Smoothie
    Brianna S.

Stopped by Playa Bowls as part of a Yelp Elite event and was very impressed. When you walk it it feels like you are transported into a beautiful underwater oasis. They have a huge menu of smoothies, bowls, juices, and other goodies. Everything was reasonably priced and looked delicious. I went with a dolce smoothie and my bestie got a pacific bowl. Both were really good and came out quickly! Only downside in my opinion is that it is located in Blue Back square so you either need to get luck and get metered parking or pay to park in the garage. Looking forward to their Glastonbury location opening as there is tons of parking. Thank you for having us!

Since I knew I would be waiting, I politely asked if I could use the restroom. I was told no. I initially assumed there had been a misunderstanding, so I explained that I wasn't a random passerby looking for a public restroom. I was there to pick up an active DoorDash order and would be waiting while they finished preparing it. Unlike employees who have a workplace with designated break areas and restroom access, delivery drivers spend their entire workday on the road. We don't have a home base to return to between orders. Because of that, we often rely on the basic courtesy of restaurants and businesses we partner with while conducting pickups and deliveries. Most businesses understand this and treat drivers respectfully. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. What happened next was what bothered me most. Rather than simply explaining their policy and treating me with basic courtesy, the employees largely stopped engaging with me altogether. They avoided eye contact, ignored my attempts to communicate, and acted as though I wasn't standing there. It was an incredibly dehumanizing experience. After waiting several more minutes, I said, "I could have been done by now." The only response I received was, "It's not for the public." I again explained that I was there for an active pickup and was waiting on an order that still wasn't ready. Once again, I was met with silence. To be clear, I completely understand that businesses located on busy commercial streets cannot allow every random person who walks in off the street to use their restroom. That's not what this situation was. I was there performing a service directly connected to their business. DoorDash drivers are part of the fulfillment process that allows restaurants to participate in DoorDash, reach additional customers, and generate revenue from delivery orders. I wasn't asking for special treatment--just the basic courtesy of using the restroom while waiting on an order that they were still preparing. What makes this even more frustrating is that if the order had been ready when I arrived, I would have already been gone. The only reason I was standing there waiting was because of the restaurant's delay. At that point, I decided to unassign myself from the order, even though it was a high-paying delivery. If a business is unwilling to show basic respect to the drivers helping deliver its orders, then it can find someone else to complete those deliveries. I will also be reporting this experience to DoorDash so they are aware of how drivers are being treated at this location. To fellow Dashers: I strongly encourage you to decline orders from this establishment and spend your time supporting businesses that treat delivery drivers with professionalism and basic human dignity. To potential customers: please consider whether this is the kind of business you want to support. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, including the people helping get your food to your door.

The visits started out pretty good as we were a group of 12 coming into their establishment to start their day and we were their first clients. To walk in we expressed that we understood that only one person was working and that the timing may be a little bit slower due to the fact that she was the only one there. We put our orders in and slowly started seeing other clients of theirs come in the door and place orders. We could tell that some may have been online but let's remember that we walked in as they were opening. We waited an hour and 35 minutes to get paninis and smoothies and started noticing the people that had come in behind us and online orders were getting their food before us. We went to the front counter to ask, "Why are people getting their orders before us?" and we expressed that it was because they placed their orders online and that online orders had their own process. We were unable to accept this as we were their first clients of the day. We waited an hour and a half and people behind us and all non-orders were receiving their food before us. This was not just about the customer service and speed at which we received our order. We ordered a banana and peanut butter panini and two apple and cheese paninis, of which the bread was dry. There were barely any ingredients on the sandwich and it just did not taste good at all. This may be my first time saying I do not recommend a restaurant but this time I must say it. I can say the establishment was clean. It's an open kitchen where you can see the restaurant. They had games for kids to play and the ingredients seem to be fresh. I just spoke with the owner and got a better understanding of what happened. While I won't adjust what was said I will say the due to the fresh ingredients, situational challenges and promptness of reply of the owner, I will adjust my review as to not hurt this local small business. The owner was courteous, understanding and apologetic. She gave a detailed answer as to what happened and how they plan to improve.

However, it was a challenge when she also told me they weren't making milkshakes that day. She said, "No. We're not doing those," and proceeded to roll her eyes again. It's not about what you say--it's about HOW you say it. Additionally, the service took a long time.
