They are as close to criminal as one can get without being criminally prosecuted. The experience of their one call close approach using electronic eavesdropping while in a prospective customer's home without ever telling you that they are recording nor gaining consent to capture the sales conversation. They admitted to electronically storing and transmitting data to third parties to attempt to bully and enforce invalid agreements. Their electronic surveillance is abhorrent, in our opinion. You are reading this correctly. The Kurtis Kitchen salesperson that you invite into your home is recording you without your consent. They don't even inform you that they are recording. They start recording as they approach the house. They leave recording devices in your home. In our case the salesperson's iPad was left in our home as they repeatedly go out to their vehicle for samples. They listen to you conversing from their connected smartphone while not present. They also transmit to non-local people to evaluate the sales call. They store the data and absolutely will attempt to refute valid legal claims through use of illegal recording. In our case they lost in arbitration. We had to hire an attorney to fight against their own wrongly written agreement. We had to fight them on their terms in arbitration, as agreed in their contract. In our opinion Kurtis Kitchen are as corrupt of a company as it gets without being criminally prosecuted. We hope the State of Michigan reads this and chooses to protect the homeowners of metro Detroit from a predatory sales process, with questionable at best business practices. read more

We had agree to a kitchen update. The following day we discovered that the product that was offered by Kurtis would not work in our sitution and we emailed/phone and provided sign documents to cancel. This was done within the three day law in Michigan. It has been over 10 days and there is no sign of a refund in progress. Contacting the vendor by phone has been fruitless. It was a HORRIBLE experience. They made multiple mistakes. Kitchen took 2-2.5 months for refacing. Kitchen was completed in end of March beginning of April. There is still glue everywhere the molding is coming apart. The stone work was a disaster with glue again everywhere. We are having it remodeled at the same price now with custom cabinets whole slab of stone which I was told they couldn't do, instead of it being chopped up and not adding all the parts despite being out 7 times. I would NEVER RECOMMEND this disaster of a company. If I could star none I would. read more

When I called to schedule an appointment for someone to come out & look at my kitchen cabinets to determine if refacing was an option everything was moving along nicely until I said I lived in DETROIT. After 11 years in our house, we decided to remodel our kitchen. We met with Robert in June and construction was scheduled to start in October. Due to some scheduling snafus, miscommunication and incorrect measurements, the job didn't get completed until Saturday, December 10th but Kim in the scheduling office and Robert were easy to work with and they constantly stayed in touch with us during the process. As with any home remodel project, it was a frustrating and long process but working with the two of them made it a smoother transition and we are thrilled with the end result! read more

saleswoman charged us for a built in bench in our new walk in shower. Then the construction crew said we couldn't have the built in bench and that we'd have to go with a fold down seat. Kurtis said they'd credit us $350. Then I decided I really didn't like or want that fold down seat. Still a measly $350 off a $12,000 shower after the saleswoman said the fold down seat cost $700! To top it off, we couldn't figure out how to use the shower head. We had no booklets or instructions. We really do like the shower. I love the walls and I believe it was constructed well. I just feel the company could have been more accommodating. So hire at your own risk! read more

My project lasted over 6 months and communication from the company was very poor. They never delivered or installed on time. Numerous follow up visits were required to fix problems with quality of hardware installation and finish imperfections. Ordered products were omitted and had to be reordered. I had to telephone the installation department 3-4 times informing them of issues requiring follow up as they did not listen or make notes to the project requiring attention. While the employees were polite, they were incompetent. I requested a discount as compensation for the aggravations, however, was flat out denied. Stay away from this company! read more

Started the kitchen demo and remodel long time ago with Kurtis Kitcken finally starting project. They do great work but there shipping and warehouse operation sucks. I paid $1200 for this granite sink that they shipped from their location. Thus Farr this is the only glitch, Kurtis kitchen this is strike one. Their rep mislead us on kitchen start time by 5weeks.. Installation guys were great but 2 doors came damaged 2 drawers didn't come at all and lazysusan didn't fit . I can't recommend them. Eventually the kitchen was mostly finished. Unfortunately many missteps along the way (forgot to complete crown molding, forgot to order tile, didn't get enough tile, no shows for work scheduled -just to name a few). I had to follow up to get things done and it still took over 4 months (cabinet painting, backsplash, sink, countertops). read more

I purchase service to reface cabinets, replace counters, and sink. Fist of all, I am happy with the installers. Esp Shawn who was our first. For some reason he left the company and I then had several different installers. The salesman Robert was good. My issue was with communication, delays, rescheduling days and then changing after I had already rearranged my work schedule. The project took several months to complete due to inaccurate or missing supplies. I think I would have ended up with as good a result but less cost if I went with an independent contractor. I contacted Home Solutions by Kurtis at 313-509-3424 (on Merrimack Road in Livonia) from an ad in the Free Press about remodeling a basement kitchenette behind a playroom bar. I was told they did not work on this kind of project. Then I received a call back saying that they would do it and we set up an appointment to have someone come out. Then another call saying they did not do this kind of project and we cancelled. Then more phone calls to see how they could help. This same employee left water dripping under our sink causing more damage. Kurtis did not give us license number or insurance information when we asked. After our experience, we are highly suspect as to whether their employees are licensed tradesmen. Very poor customer service. Look elsewhere. read more

We had our kitchen cabinets refaced with new doors. Although the workmanship was very good, Kurtis were not able to complete the job on time because of incorrect and missing orders. The reschedule date was not kept. One item out the five replacement parts was below "quality" and parts were lost. Kurtis refused to install the 4 doors and trim replacement parts that were delivered. There has been no reply to phone calls about the second reschedule date. read more

I recently had a new countertop, sink, faucet and garbage disposal replaced in my kitchen. Shelly in the sales office was extremely helpful in assisting me with the design and especially in helping me find a sink. She was very thorough in explaining all the details and answering all my questions. The delivery and installation staff were very accommodating in working around my schedule and both delivery and installers were right on schedule as promised. George did a magnificent job on installation. I was concerned about possible damage to painted walls due to the tight fit of the new counter, but George got the old counter out and the new one in without even the slightest scratch. Post-installation clean-up was great. This was certainly not one of Kurtis' large or more expensive projects, but they made me feel like a very valued customer and took personal care of my project from beginning to end. I could not be more pleased with the final results. I have told everyone what a great job they did and would encourage anyone with a project of any size to let Kurtis do it! read more

Working with the Kurtis Company has been a seven month project. It began July 27, 2017, and ended February 13, 2018. After our first meetings of selecting and a home visit for measuring, we left our project in Kurtis' hands and were told that our project would begin toward the end of October. Around the middle of October, realizing we hadn't heard from Kurtis about the exact start date, we called to check on that. To our amazement we were told that our project would begin the first week of January. What? We had already contacted our tile man who would follow after the installation of our cabinets and countertops. He was to begin the middle of November. The whole process was to be done before Christmas for the incoming family arriving for the holidays. Our compromise was that the tear-out of our existing cabinets and counters would begin December 4 (obviously, the tile man would have to wait until after Christmas). December 5 the new cabinets were installed which we were very disappointed in because of the quality and the workmanship. On December 6 the granite was installed. The measurements were that were taken originally were incorrect. Consequently the back splashes would have to be torn out and later reinstalled. December 14-- the mirrors went up and plumbing completed. Final payment expected. Didn't happen. It wasn't until February 13 (almost 7 months after we started with Kurtis) that after much discussion, many calls and lots of e-mails that corrections and final payment was made. Unhappily. Our biggest mistake, not returning to the company that had done our other bathrooms two years ago. The quality was superior, target dates were met and workmanship was outstanding. No punch list was needed with them. Considering a 2year inflation rate, the cost wasn't that much of a differential and we got superior cabinets and quartz countertops instead of granite. After 35 years in the same house we finally remodeled our kitchen with the help of Kurtis Kitchens. The almost finished kitchen is wonderful to cook in! Getting to this point was a challenge though. First our salesman ordered the wrong countertop for us, and was furious with us for not wanting it. And now that the cupboards have been in the kitchen for less than six months the doors and shelves are warping! We've called multiple times to ask for replacements, and only after calling the cabinet maker and several weeks were weable to replace the warped cupboards. Sadly we're still waiting for a replacement shelf. I cannot recommend Kurtis Kitchens to anyone. read more

Kurtis Kitchen & Bath did a remodel on our kitchen. While the designer did a super job, there were a couple of measurements that were off even though the project manager was supposed to double check. One major discovery was AFTER we received our stove, it was discovered that our garbage/recycling cabinet and the drawer above could not be opened. The counter top and backsplash were already installed by this time, so they wound up ordering us a smaller cabinet and had to rebuild the cabinet from the inside. The other issue was our refrigerator not fitting completely under the cabinets and they had to cut notches out to get the hinges to slide all the way back in. The subcontractor, while really nice, was not overly good at getting things repaired and would put us off saying it would get done. The drywall job was a whole other story and was done poorly. The communication between Kurtis Kitchen, the subcontractor, and us was pretty much sub par and there times we took off from work that we didn't need to do and lost vacation time as well as pay. One hand did not know what the other was doing, resulting in two HVAC people and two plumbers. Plumber utilized by subcontractor was a buffoon and when installing the water line to our new refrigerator, he went to test the water dispenser located on inside of refrigerator by pushing the button, letting the water run out, onto shelf, down freezer drawer and onto floor, closing the door and walking away and didn't even offer to wipe up the water on the floor. When he returned a few days later to install the gas line for the stove (because he was not told about having to do that previously), we wound up coming home to our house FILLED with gas. He told another contractor we had there for other work that he couldn't even smell if there was a gas leak. Luckily, by day's end the smell was out of the house. Flooring people were another issue - they used Riemer Floors (do not recommend this place) and their subcontractor did not want to install vents on the floor and was finally told to do so, but threw our old vents on our front lawn and not in dumpster and proceeded to lose one set of screws to one of the new vents. We had Riemer back two additional times to fix the trim pieces and they still are not really correct. According to one of the Riemer employees, this flooring subcontractor is on the passive aggressive side. No kidding. One other thing (which is not uncommon with contractors) was the time stretched out to twice what they told us (5-6 weeks turned into 11 weeks). Overall, the kitchen is beautiful, but I cannot honestly say I would overall recommend Kurtis Kitchen UNLESS they send their own people and not a subcontractor to do the work. We had one employee to do a bit of drywall repair and three other employees to get cabinet issues taken care of and they did a great job. Most of the people were genuinely nice and pleasant to deal with, but they also blow sunshine and tell you what you want to hear and that things will be taken care of and then you have to keep on them to do it and some of it gets done but some of it doesn't. read more

This company led my mother to believe that a design consultation was free, then later called her on the phone to explain that they were charging her 500 dollars as a deposit for cabinetry work that she never agreed nor signed to have done. Thus, the "job" (that she never agreed to) was "cancelled," and she was told that she could use the deposit as credit toward future work. *I know what you're thinking... this is very unusual language and practice for any business. As my mother didn't want to make any fuss about it, I didn't find out about this until years later, and no dispute--other than calling Kurtis--was made. She resorted to finding some use of the "credit," but simply could not find anything that she needs. Fast forward a few years... My uncle loses his wife 3 weeks after finding out she is sick. He decides to remodel parts of his house and kitchen as a way of moving on. Kurtis would not let my mom use her credit towards my uncle's purchase, even after we explained how we were misled AND how my uncle had recently suffered, citing that she can only use the credit toward "her home." After studying the situation further and talking with them myself, I conclude that this a misleading, inflexible, uncaring company, and I want to make sure that everyone knows how my mother has been treated. read more

Worst company I could have ever done business with. I hired Kurtis Kitchen and Bath Livonia location to remodel my kitchen in December 2019 and they were still fixing things in June. First off they write up a quote, then get a $1000.00 non refundable deposit from you. They then do a walk through of your house, take a trip with you to the granite and tile shop and write another quote that's thousands more than the original and this does not include any extra add on. You can either accept the new increased cost or forfeit your thousand dollar deposit. Once the job started the first issue was they cracked the granite which caused delays. The cabinet installers missed numerous days, dented my brand new refrigerator, hooked up the refrigerator water line incorrectly and I woke up Christmas Day with the brand new kitchen floor and basement flooded. They busted the wall in the adjoining room plastered it and refused to paint it or pay a portion to have someone else paint it. The sink completely detached from the granite countertop. They threw thinset on my grass and the side of my house. They had to come out and have someone sand the thinset off the house and put down grass seed down. After spending well over twenty thousand dollars I am not happy with this company. I tried to work with them and they could care less about making things right. Beware of this company! read more

This is the worst company ever! NO NOT USE THEM! They have a very poor quality of workmanship, which they think is totally acceptable. They provide damaged products, also try to change prices on you after contact is signed. The owners try to get you to accept their damaged products. After a year of working on a kitchen project it was never complete, I have cabinet doors that have damage and chipped paint. The wall boxes are also damaged. I had work done at my home in 2002. I live in Ann Arbor. Was not happy with the work at the time as finishes were not up to my standards. Walls had waves as well as ceiling. Paid another contractor to re work the drywalls and Celine to get thing correct. Currently -- 2016-/I am installing a deck and my current contractors needed to raise the French doors as they were installed improperly by Kurtis. After removing the doors there was dry rot on the rim joist as well as sub floor and around the opening. Had a lifetime warranty-- didn't honor it. There are many places to go, get references and check work! read more

The quality of the cabinetry was not in line with the price paid - 1/2 inch particle board construction with plastic veneer. Additionally the veneer had a distinct horizontal pattern which was not applied to the cabinets in a consistent manner (none of the doors had the veneer pattern lined up and on some parts of the cabinets the veneer pattern was installed vertically.) The only goal of Kurtis Kitchen's appears to be to make money with little emphasis on providing quality kitchen designs or cabinetry. I would not recommend the cabinets sold by this firm. read more

My wife and I went to Kutis Kitchen because of the decent rating they had on BBB. So we made an appointment to come in and talk with a young sales guy about two baths we wanted remodeled. The sales guy(A.K.) was friendly enough and very eager to work with us. We met with the sales guy a couple of more times, he quoted us a price that was way too high about $28k for 2 small baths. I have done remodeling before myself and we are avid reviewers of the DIY home network channel, so we knew the price was too high. But we wanted the work done within a month. We figured we could do some of the work ourselves and cut some of the cost. So, we put a down payment of $1K(non-refundable), as a good faith deposit to continue going forward, FRIST mistake. That's when things went downhill fast. I figured if I am paying for a service I want to know exactly what I am paying for, so I told the young salesman to itemize the work and material for the project. We already picked out the fixtures(which was way too pricey, I found the same fixtures on the internet less then half the cost!) and we wanted a rough estimate on everything else, so I could do some of the work myself. Suddenly the friendly young salesman was not so friendly and NOT so eager to help us with our project. Week after week I would call or email this guy about getting this project done, it was like pulling teeth. About 3 months later and we knew this guy was wasting our time. He just wanted to meet his sale quota, the sales quota to sign us up for the $1000.00(which in the sales contact states, it is for the design work if you do not get any work done). BOTTOM LINE: Kitus Kitchen is a schema. It is way over priced for what you get. Our sales guy(A.K. watch out for this guy) was looking to fill his quota and sign us up. They are good for ideas and that is about it. If you are considering Kutis Kitchen and they are asking for a down payment, go the other way and run! You can get free design work at IKEA. If you had in the process of working with these guys get and itemized list of service before you PAYMENT anything! You will see your sales person come up with excuses and not so eager to help you with your project. read more

We worked with Kurtis in Livonia. Unfortunately things did not go smoothly, while the end product was good the process was filled with problems. We hired "professionals" thinking that they would manage the project and follow the plan, I ended up being my own project manager. A little over a year ago, we had our 2 entire bathrooms demolished and then redone by Kurtis. The tile work was done masterfully by Andre and the plumbing was completed well too. The glass shower was poorly done by a man employed by Livonia Mirror and Glass. He had to come back several times to rectify the problems while the owner of the company was not helpful making the job right. An entire wall mirror (which also came from Livonia Glass) was installed and appeared to be first quality but after the job was completed I noticed that it had a "circus mirror" effect when a person stands away from it . When I called Kurtis to report it, they were uncertain about what I meant so I asked them to have the owner from Livonia Glass observe it himself. When he came he said very little, he would not tell me what he could do to make it right. After he left I called Kurtis and the owner said the imperfection is within the standards allowed. He refused to do anything about it so I called Kurtis and after several attempts to resolved the problem, they often did not return my telephone calls and they too refused to make a monetary refund or perform a complete mirror replacement. Buyer beware...it appears when a person expects and pays for first-quality work and materials, Kurtis may not make it happen. read more

NEGATIVE: I originally placed an order for two bathroom vanities and countertop on 6/17/17. I was told it would take about four weeks. When I did receive it on 7/29/17, one of the cabinets(vanity) was severely damaged. I returned it immediately and was told by Melissa that a new cabinet would be ordered. On 8/1/17, I received a call stating the cabinet had arrived and I could pick it up. I refused to accept it because there was no way a special order shipping in from another state (Texas?) could have been made and shipped over a weekend. On 8/14/17 Kurtis delivered to my home my "new" vanity. As I was out of town I had my son go to my house and look at the cabinet which was delivered. He told me, along with sending me pictures, that the cabinet was not a new one. They had glued together the broken cabinet and put a "Putty like" substance over the damaged veneer side. Also the drawer glides were clearly broken. I called Kurtis and spoke with (Jareesha?) and finally the salesperson Melissa who told me their people repaired it better than new. She also added that the store started a policy about the time I made my order in which any items delivered defective would be repaired by their in-house crew. When I asked her if she looked at the cabinet she replied "...that bad?..." and then told me a new cabinet would be ordered. I told her that is what I expected because I paid for new, not repaired and that is what I expected to receive. Melissa also called me on 9/4/17 to tell me the cabinet had been put on a special rush. I called back because I had not received my cabinet and on 9/19/17 I received a call from Melissa stating that she was off sick and apologized for the issues I was having. She again told me that the cabinet has been again reordered. The replacement vanity finally arrived today 10/10/17. a six week project now taking over sixteen weeks. read more
