Such a lovely coffee shop! Today I stopped by for an iced caffe latte with whole milk. I really enjoyed my beverage and sit-in experience here. The drink itself was creamy and rich in flavor- it wasn't too strong but it wasn't watered down, either, so it was just perfect. The cashier/barista was so kind, cheery, and attentive. The ambience of the place felt very Cambridge/Somerville-esque to me- they had small plants and cacti adorning the windowsill, tables by the window, and colorful seats for customers to lounge on. I loved the abundance of natural lighting, too. It complemented the shop's spacious interior very nicely. The mere existence of this place is astounding and a testament to how far Stoneham has come. Growing up down the street from here in the 90's, we certainly did not have a cool place to hang out like Kushala. Not that the likes of us would have been welcomed. No one would have been able to afford the mocha and we'd probably be kicked out quickly. But now, yes, this is a nice coffee shop and I was pleasantly surprised. I like the bar seating by the window and there's a few square tables with metal chairs. They could definitely use more seats with cushions. the only two armchairs, yellow and aqua, while once new and gorgeous, is long covered with unsightly coffee stains and dirt smudges generally. Maybe consider getting an armchair cover that can be laundered. read more

Fantastic addition to this underserved gem of a community. I have often thought Stoneham is the perfect town and many times considered purchasing our family home there when we were looking. Only the down town always had so few hip gems to offer. Well - that has changed in a big way. I just recently had to make the trip downtown for something after a few years away and I'm pleasantly surprised by all the newer choices of shops and rejuvenation in the town. I.T really is a lovely town. Kushala would be a gem in ANY town. This Food Service Management professional is picky - so I'm no easy critic. The place is spotless which speaks volumes in my book. The coffee and drink menu is varied and wonderful and the accompanying pastries are delicious. Our coffee came out beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. Service was friendly and timely. The staff was even observant enough to change the music to suit the genre of the patrons sitting. Very comfortable atmosphere. The staff explained to me that Kushala means happiness in Hindi. Been there a couple times. Coffee is decent and so is the chai. Staff is friendly. Not much street parking but finding a spot is easy. Only complaint are the prices. Very expensive $$$ for basic coffee and tea (Regular chai latte with oat milk set me back $7). Better places out there to get coffee in my opinion. read more

Now i moved away to Randolph in 2017, ever time goes back to take care of my rental house in stoneham, i still go there...they offer great coffee...they not only used plexiglass panel for inside seating, also used it for outdoor seating...really conform to the covid 19 guideline..it is a great business and coffee...highly recommend to anyone! read more

Kushala Sip is another little gem in Stoneham. I usually get iced coffee here (which is good, but very strong), but the few hot drinks I've gotten have also been well-made and tasty. There is food, but I typically stick with coffee only because I find it to be a bit overpriced for the small portion sizes. The main draw of Kushala Sip for me is that it's a great place to get some work done - it's cozy yet spacious and never too crowded if you want to set up at a table for a few hours. My friend got a sandwich and I got a mocha. The coffee was hot and good but they were busy and I think training a new staff member. My friend said his sandwich was dry but it must not have been terrible since he ate the whole thing. The staff members were friendly but you could tell they were a little frazzled by the rush of people. This cafe is an absolute gem in Stoneham. Every time I order from Kushala my order comes out over the top amazing. The staff and owner put so much time and effort in to make my order come out delicious each time. I honestly wish I could give more than a five star rating. Attributing factors to this rave review besides always witnessing my own personal orders as above and beyond: 1. I have never not seen the owner sitting at a table nearby. She is dedicated to having an in-person presence which is highly appreciated and commendable as a customer. 2. Over the past two years, my parents have come to visit every other month and when they do they always pick up lunch. They are a bit picky but since day one of trying out Kushala, they have always picked up food from there - we all love it so much! Pretty disappointed... service was absolutely nothing special and prices are way too high in relation to the quality. Around $6 for a BEC on an English muffin. If I'd known it was going to be a scraggly reheated egg patty and slab of American cheese, I would've just gone to Dunkin' Donuts and gotten two for less money. The drink itself is okay, but drowned out by too much syrup, so who knows if the coffee itself is quality or not. read more

I moved to Stoneham a couple of weeks ago from one of the great coffee cities around here (Somerville), so I was really hoping Kushala would be great. So far I've had mostly good experiences. I've only tried the cold brew and usually it's really strong and flavorful (which I like). I went in today though, and it sincerely tasted like coffee flavored water because the barista didn't put enough of the concentrate in. I kind of knew by just taking a look that it would taste watered down. If I knew that and the barista didn't, that's a bit of a problem. If I judged Kushala solely on my coffee today, I legitimately may not have come back. At any rate, every other time has been great. I tried a breakfast sandwich also which was servicable - certainly nothing special, especially since it's premade. I would probably LOOOVE this place if they started offering breakfast sandwiches and bagels, but until then it does the trick for coffee (usually). read more

The long awaited local coffee shop in Stoneham has arrived! And what a nice addition to town it is. I have already visited several times and I am definitely telling friends about it. The décor is industrial chic. The space is roomy. There's a nice view of the Common and there is outdoor seating as well. Regardless of the location and the décor, I would not go back if the coffee was sub par. Kushala Sip scores points for having excellent coffee and nice choices for espresso drinks and tea. I am so excited that Stoneham has finally gotten a place to grab a coffee! At last- and what a good-looking coffee shop it is, too. The decor is super cool with wood and corrugated metal accents, exposed ceilings and funky lighting. I had a delicious iced latte and my friend really enjoyed her iced green tea and mini quiche. The seating was comfortable and the vibe was welcoming. Business was brisk and it made me feel good that our town has such a nice shop. Yay, community! Came in here very early and it was pouring. I was the only one in there for a while. Seemed like a nice place. Had the Kushala Coffee and it was really good. Pastry was good as well. Very friendly and it was a nice place to hang out for a while and try to hide from the rain. Would come back and get coffee again and maybe try something different. read more

What a shame! I work locally and thought I found that perfect place to have my ice coffee with expresso shot on my way to work. I have frequented Kushala over the past several months because of their coffee, and great service. I am a supporter of small businesses but I will not be back. This morning, I decided to have a breakfast sandwich with my delicious ice coffee. Five minutes go by, 10 minutes go by, and I realize they are filling a huge order. I waited another couple of minutes and went up to the person that took my order. I said I had to go, asked for my money back for the $5.25 breakfast sandwich. She was quit annoyed, didn't even try to explain the circumstances of the large orders they were filling. She just back away from the register, and told someone "he wants his money back" and walked away as I try to explain my circumstances as I had to go. It's a shame the owner which I always see there on her computer didn't witness it, but employees would never give such a negative experience to a customer when they around. I walked out without my money because its easier just to walk a way and not go back. Yes, there are two sides to every story but you decide if a great cup of coffee is worth what I experienced this morning. read more

I wish I knew what everyone is raving about. I went here after reading the reviews and what a disappointment. I ordered an Iced Mocha and and Iced Irish cream coffee and the Iced Mocha didn't taste like either coffee or chocolate and the Irish cream looked like milk with no coffee in it whatsoever. I also ordered 2 (very small) ginger cookies which were good (the only saving Grace of this whole visit) but they were so small and to me spending almost $20 for 2 iced coffees and 2 very small cookies is a bit ridiculous to make matter worse the girl who waited on me wasn't very pleasant at all. I had the pleasure of stopping by after my visit to the hospital nearby. It was my first time in the area and wanted something different than Dunkin's. I passed the restaurant looking for it then turned around and found it. I got inside and noticed it is nice and cozy. Also social distancing seats which is impressive.
