Went to this place to study and have some relaxation in their vibrant couches, and signed up for their promotional emails (which I normally don't do, but am in LOVE with their mocha coffee too). They are eco-friendly, have great cafe music, outdoor patio seating, 15% student discounts in summer and $5 birthday coupons! What more can you ask for? Coffee and latte were good but the breakfast sandwiches were fully inedible. Got a bacon egg and cheese on everything bagel and an egg and cheese on everything bagel with avocado (upcharge). When you spend extra for avocado you expect it to be an actual avocado, but we got home and sadly discovered it's a thin spread of guacamole on the bagel. I ordered two iced lattes for $15 and they didn't even turn on the espresso machine. Instead they poured some drip into into my cup and filled the rest with milk. To add onto this the place is covered in cobwebs and dust. And the worst part is the bacon that they fry right next to the register and coffee. Really more three and a half stars. A true locally owned second wave cafe - coffee roasted on the darker side with no roasting company's label prominently displayed anywhere, the milk steamed inconsistently and loudly, armchairs for people to relax in. Most of the crowd when I go is the Laptop Zombie sort. The service is not friendly, but prompt. The big downside is that if you spend more than fifteen minutes here you will probably leave smelling like food. It seems like a fine local place for business people to meet clients or colleagues and for commuters to grab coffee. I have tried hanging out here to read a few times but would personally not spend more than thirty minutes here. I would recommend coming here over going to Starbucks for sure. read more

I've been trying to be nice during all this and give a little bit after three tries in a week I gotta find a new place. First off it's stoneham not Boston so over $6 for a large ice is insane especially when they are using the pump syrup for flavoring. Each time this week I asked for just a little less ice then usual and just a splash of skim milk. I'm not sure if that bothered them or just don't care because each time I watched and ended up getting a good amount of ice and about half of the cup was skim. Six freaking dollars for about 10oz of skim milk and extra syrup plus ice with little to no coffee. It's not about the money it's about getting coffee if I wanted all syrup, milk and ice is just go to dunks and save. This is a solid little cafe. I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't speak to that, but I came for lunch and a place to get some work down while I was visiting from out of town and it served my needs well. The menu didn't wow me, but the food I ordered was pretty good. You can turn any sandwich into a salad so I had the Veggie as a salad. Sometimes I find portobello mushrooms can be boring but these had a good flavor (maybe they were marinated in something?). It was a solid salad. I had an iced tea and a cookie as well. Good but nothing to go out of your way for. That said, it's a great space to work or hang out for a while. They had a cute patio for days with nice weather. In addition to several tables with two seats each, there was bar height seating along the front window and two well-loved wingback chairs for a cozier seating arrangement. On my visit on a weekday afternoon, I was able to snag a table near a wall outlet for my laptop. Connecting to the wifi was easy. Despite there being a pretty steady stream of customers, it never felt super crowded (the tables are nicely spaced). There's also a parking lot in back with a rear entrance, which is really convenient if parallel parking is not your thing. Very cute cozy cafe in Stoneham. Location is good and parking was easy. Coffer was decent, but the chocolate chip muffin which I had along with my coffee was really nothing to write home about. Too sweet and too much flavoring! It left a very bad taste in my mouth after the first bite. The seating area is done very nice. What they had here that I've not seen anywhere else was the copier machine. To allow you to make a copy from your laptop. The bathroom was very nice and clean. But what's up with the dark bathroom? I've been to Kushala sip a few times now after reading a recommendation for it on the Melrose facebook group. I'm so happy to have another coffee option nearby. I really enjoy a good cup of coffee and Kushala has not disappointed. So far, I've tried iced coffee, a mocha latte with soy milk, and a skinny vanilla latte with almond milk. All have been great. Kushala has quite a few tables both inside and outside. I've preferred the inside because the air conditioning has been SO nice with the hot weather here, and they have free wifi so I can sit there and do some work. I have nothing bad to say at all about Kushala, the only thing I'd like to see more of is comfy seating (more cushy chairs) and some small tables next to the 2 comfy charis up front (when I'm sitting there with my laptop and I put my coffee on the coffee table, it's a bit far to reach for with my laptop on my lap). read more
