We tried this food truck at Gazebo Gardens. What a cute set-up. Now for Naynay's truck review- I…read moredon't know if I was spoiled or what, but I grew up eating Filipino food at friends' houses and it was so much better than this. Naynay's lumpia were nice and crispy but just didn't have that delicious flavor I remember. The sweet chili sauce was good and it helped with the so-so flavor. Where I was really disappointed was the pancit. Yucky. :( It didn't have the right vegetables and waaay too much cilantro on top. I tried putting the soy sauce mixture on top but that didn't even help. The worst part was that we waited a really long time for our food. Numbers were called out of order and other people waiting for their food were looking around to see if others were waiting too. My husband ordered first at Naynay's and then went over to another truck to order Korean tacos. The tacos were ready super fast and we were trying to eat all the food together but while waiting for Naynay's the tacos started getting cold so we ended up eating them and even then we still waited quite a while before our food from Naynay's was done. Overall, just not a good experience with Naynay's, which is sad because they're the whole reason I wanted to go check out the food truck night.

The location has shrunk in size, but they've upgraded their options and have some pre-packaged snacks and treats--including pints of Magnolia ice cream. The garlic rice, pancit, adobo (chicken or pork), and lumpia are still the same and delicious. I am a little sad that there is usually only one variety of sinigang soup at a time...usually the fish, which is my least favorite, because you may end up with the head (including eyeballs)-which I know some love, but I'm really not a fan. My favorite is the pork or shrimp, which I believe have superior flavor. Just as with everywhere else, prices have skyrocketed, reducing our ability to frequent Jowli's. Still, when we get food-to-go, this is a place that we prefer to support. I'm glad it has survived over a decade-Fresno is better with Jowli's here.

You can also really tell he cares about the quality of the food he puts out and wants to make sure that his customers are given the best. I went with my mom to try it out near Reclaimed Mt. Goods in Madera. My mom is from the Philippines and often misses home food. I got the sisig fries, and my mom got the IDK plate. They let us sub out the pork lumpia for an extra vegetable lumpia, which was nice. My mom loved the food and said it tasted like hers. I agreed with hers after taking a bite. My sisig fries were loaded and very filling--I only ended up eating half the box. I love the attention to detail--the fried egg, the mayo, the furikake, and the calamansi--everything was perfect together. The food truck itself is covered in stickers and also has fruit juices and Filipino snacks that we enjoyed seeing. I love the decorations/designs on the truck as well. After we finished that, we got some halo-halo, and it was also great. My mom especially liked the homemade ube leche flan. Everything was fantastic, and I will definitely be returning.
