I had to come back and try something different after the comedian Jokoy came and gave this place a stellar review. Apparently he's been here before when he came to perform. I came last year to purchase some pastries. See my last review. This time I came in and I had to get the Halo Halo which always looks good. It was something that I've seen at other Filipino establishments. It was really good. It had ube ice cream, another ice cream, and on the bottom I think coconut and some candy or jelly or some sort. But whatever it was, it was so good. The other thing that I got was the Ube brownie. Now this thing was unique in taste and worth coming back for as it's nothing like your average brownie. It's not hard to see and taste why Bread and Butter was voted the best bakery in 2025 by the Fresno Bee! We ordered the Bahug Bahug (bread pudding with Ube jam) and the Ensaimada bread and both were carb perfection. We especially appreciated that neither was overly sweet. We arrived a few minutes before closing and the owner was incredibly kind and treated us like we were her first customer of the day and she had all the time in the world for us...that is true customer service!! The owner also mentioned that they sell Filipino food on Saturdays, starting at noon. This is a grab and go place, with no seating inside. We hired them for our wedding in Oakhurst. Jam and Mark are amazing, easy to talk to, and make delicious food and desserts. Their appetizers, desserts, and cakes are delicious. I live in the area and enjoy a nice walk on my lunch when the weather is nice. I found this spot and ducked in to see what they had. The lady/owner was exceedingly kind. They don't have a lot of things in stock, but they do feature a lot of ube pastries. Real ube! I picked up some rolls and headed home. I live life with a service dog and this establishment gets 4paws up! No issues. I got home and had to try one of the pastries. It was so good. Not too sweet, and perfectly soft. The prices may seem a little steep at $7 a package..but real ube is notoriously expensive and can be difficult to find. Making these delightful little treats worth it. read more

Stopped by for the first time to try some goodies. There are shelves of various baked goods priced at $7 each or 3 for $20. Got the ube crinkle cookies, pandan crinkle cookies and ube halaya cheese bread. My favorite out of the trio was the ube halaya cheese. It's soft, a nice mix of sweet and savory, and not too sweet. The crinkle cookies were quite big and more on the crunchy side. I do prefer chewy and softer crinkle cookies so these aren't for me but it was fun to try. I would come back to try other goodies and to get more ube halaya cheese. It's a walk in and pick up, no dine in situation. read more

This place is a must stop. The breads are so soft and they smell/taste amazing! I tried the coco bread (coconut). I'm not kidding when I say it was my favorite coconut treat I've ever enjoyed. The texture, the amount of sweetness was perfect. The inside of shop is cozy and the items are perfectly stacked and visible if you want a quick to-go bread. This tiny Filipino bakery has a large, loyal following undoubtedly due to their delicious ube-filled and flavored desserts, including breads, cakes, ice cream, and rice cakes. Ube is a purple yam that is a staple food in the Filipino culture. It has a sweet and nutty taste. The extract and powder are used to make many of their baked breads and pastries. I am particularly fond of ube-flavored desserts like ice cream, mochi, and kakanin (both are types of rice cakes). Prior to my visit here, I have never tried an ube brownie or ube pandesal before and I was excited to try them both. Pandesal is a Filipino bread roll often eaten with sliced cheese or butter. The ube-infused flavoring gives it just the right amount of sweetness that you can enjoy alone as a snack. The ube brownie is also as good as advertised. It is not only sweet but the brownie texture and coco mix brings out the nutty essence of the ube flavor. Other ingredients used to flavor their desserts and baked goods include cheese, chocolate, custard, coconut, pineapple, nuts, and pandan - which is an edible plant that also has a naturally sweet and nutty flavor to it. To be honest, I was not overly impressed with the other flavored desserts here. Personally, I will probably stick to trying the ube breads, brownies, and maybe their cakes and pies whenever they become available. Additionally, they do catering and can make custom cakes and desserts. The service at the counter is excellent. They are all very friendly, and helpful with the orders and any questions you might have, and you can tell they appreciate your business. It is best to come early because many of their baked goods sell out quickly. I recommend calling and placing your orders ahead of time. They also have a fast, convenient online ordering system and take payment via Venmo, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Zelle. Located near the corner of Fresno Street and East Gettysburg Avenue next to a liquor store. I've had Bread and Butter at RP farmers market a year ago and finally the opportunity to go to their store front. Almost hidden it's a small, clean bakery. Arrived just before noon. We were greeted as we entered. Chef Mark was there in back and a sweet lady at the register I've seen before when they are at Farmers Market. I was hoping to try their famous señorita bread but as usual they sold out (have to arrive early next time). They have a deal 3 items for $20. I bought 2 bags of pandesal and one Ensaimada (Jokoy's Fav dessert ;] ). The Ensaimada was delicious, soft and sweet but not overwhelmingly sweet, it was just right. I like to warm it up for 15 seconds where the butter just slightly melts it's THE BEST. I've had their ube pandesal before and it was good this was my first time having their regular pandesal and it was delicious and soft. My tita would bring us pandesal from San Diego when she comes and visits but now we don't have to wait for pandesal when Bread and Butter is local and they make it just as delicious. It was soft as is but I enjoy them slightly toasted with butter and I would dip it in hot chocolate or coffee (simple and delicious breakfast). Highly recommend this place if you've never tired. I was craving anything UBE and found this cute lil bakery on Yelp. When I arrived, I thought it was closed because there were metal bars behind the door then I realized it was for security measures when the bakery is closed. Let me tell you, this tiny mom & pop shop didn't disappoint. Too bad I didn't get the name of the Filipina lady who works there, possibly the owner, but she pretty much showed and described every single pastry with UBE. She felt bad that I couldn't talk or ask much because I lost my voice from the heat or something. I'm from Hermosa Beach and it's a long drive home. I had to stop every now and then to have a break and I did make sure the UBE delights are within reach. But who am I kidding? I was munching on them the whole time I was driving. I bought the UBE brownies, cookies, and I forgot the name of the last one. They were all delicious and the UBE flavor was heavenly. Thank you Bread & Butter for the wonderful experience! I heard about this place and was so excited to try it! I arrived after 5pm on a Sunday but hours on Yelp are wrong. They close at 3pm on weekends (not 6). Still, I was greeted warmly since they were still there finishing up. I was at a loss as to what to try. Everything looked so good. I decided on the seniorita bread (though they were out of the ube), ensaimada (apparently Jo Koy's favorite), pan de coco and the ube halaya cheese. I haven't been able to try everything yet but the ube cheese bread is my favorite so far. The breads are all so fresh and perfectly moist. So much more to try next time! I will be back to visit with my new friends Jamie and Lynn soon. As a side note, it was a bit difficult to find in the dark as Waze was taking us down an alley that seemed wrong...but it's right. We purchased pandesal for my parents coffee and freshly baked señorita bread that's still warm! Tried the señorita bread in the car, and had to get back down to get another container! Lol The location is a little hard to find. It is located behind Legends Smoke Shop and right next to Sammy Quick Mini Mart. There is parking right in front of Bread and Butter. Bread and butter is usually at the farmers market in Clovis, but they opened up a shop and their customers are super excited! Coming in, they have shelves to the left with their baked goods. To the right, they have a small area set up with tables for seating. Their fresh baked pastries are up front in the display. Right above, they had warm señorita bread. Bread and Butter is a Pilipino bakery in Fresno, and it is very good. My sister in Fresno introduced it to me and said they opened the bakery a few months ago, and previously they were made in his kitchen and sold at farmer's markets, and many continue to buy at the bakery. Senorita Bread (aka Spanish bread) is their signature dish, and it is a roll that is like a cross between pandesal (like a dinner roll) and ensaymada (sweet bread w/butter), and it has butter and sugar. You can also get it with ube, a purple yam that has recently become very popular. I like Senorita Bread from other places like the Bay Area's Star Bread, which is very good, too. Chef Mark's version is sticky and sweeter. If you have a sweet tooth, this is great, but if not, then it would be too much, and it depends on what you enjoy. Pilipino sweets are lacking compared to other cuisines, but hats off to Chef Mark Sanchez, who elevates Pilipino sweet bread. People throw tantrums like Yelper Lee L. when they run out of their signature bread. Come on, everything has a limited supply, and sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes you don't. If I were Yelper Lily Y., who is unforgiving of her reviews of other businesses, I would've been kinder to small businesses and taken the exchange since stuff like that happens. Businesses do their best to remedy situations, but nothing holds customers accountable. It was my first time at the their shop. I was on that side of town. The place is a bit hidden. I was greeted the moment I entered. Met the owners, nice couple. I got the Señorita, OMG it was so delicious, it was recommended by them. I also got the cheese sticks and pandesal. Can't leave without the pandesal. I was hoping to try their chocolate crinkles but they didn't have it that day. Next time I'll get some ube bread. All their bread is soft and delicious. I've tried others items from when my sister orders from them, all delicious. It didn't disappoint. It's nice that they also sell items at other Asian market. I can check the one close to my house the next time I have bread cravings. It's so nice to have a Filipino bakery in town and share all the breads I grew up eating as a child with my 7year old son. I used to buy from Bread & Butter at Farmer's Markets, but I'm so happy to see that they have a location now! A small bakery, but so many options! It wasn't busy so we were helped right away and the man helping us (didn't have a nametag so I don't know who) was super friendly, patient, and gave us great suggestions. It is great to have Señoritas available in Fresno. We got some Christmas Eve and the were sooo good. They keep well. You have to buy them in a prepackaged amount. Our family is not as big as it used to be so it took us a few days to get through them. We have family in Vallejo. There are a few bakeries up there where you can buy them in any quantity. The Señoritas here are a different shape than we're used to, but flavor was right on point. Can't wait to try their other options. Spanish bread is next on the list. Very nice people here.
