    Pork belly adobo
    Ryan V.

About time we got more Filipino food in Boston! As a Filipino-American I'm really happy and proud to see this. More importantly the food is delicious! I've tried nearly everything on the menu. Pork belly adobo. Bicol express chicken wings. Bangus fish buns. Pancit noodles. Shrimp and chips with vinegar. Each dish features "authentic" Filipino flavors, the kind that remind me of my mom's cooking. At the same time it's presented in a modern and accessible way, something that I can order at a brewery and pair with a beer. (I was pleasantly surprised that the sour-tartness of Filipino food went very well with the sours at Lamplighter and Channel Marker Brewing) I'm looking to more Kuya's Cooking pop-ups at my local breweries -- and more Filipino food in Boston!

Let the garlic rice with crispy garlic bits and pork belly adobo soak up all that beer you're drinking for a guaranteed good time at your local brewery. Yes, Kuya's Cooking is so good that we stalk them on Instagram and follow them around the brewery pop ups they do around Boston. The pork belly is always glistening with sauce, incredibly tender, well seasoned and balanced with a beautiful acidity to cut through the richness. The garlic rice is fragrant and savory, soaking up the sauces from the pork belly. Hard to only order one serving! Also, who knew I needed shrimp chips instead of pretzels to snack on with beer? Brilliant.

    Pork belly adobo

Very tasty Filipino food with a great story! Kuya's Cooking gives a personal and creative twist to Filipino cuisine which makes every bite an exciting and delicious experience. My personal favorite is their pork belly adobo which melts in your mouth with just the right amount of sodium level and adobo's signature tanginess. Tofu adobo is also a great vegan option. The service of the pop-up at Lamplighter was friendly and fast. The serving size was generous and paired well with various kinds of beers. Highly recommend!

Celebrated Lunar New Year dinner at Myers & Chang! While owners Joanne Chang and Christopher Myers…read morewere away in Asia, the staff did a good job "holding down the fort". Staff was very knowledgeable about each entree, and provided information about how entrees were cooked and served. They also had a "halvsies" menu of half-size portions (ideal portions for one or two diners). Started with the Mama Chang Pork Dumplings, which were excellent, and the cauliflower appetizer (a little spicy, but very good). Liked the udon noodles with chicken and bok choy, although a little less red chili pepper would have suited my tastes better (good for those who like a bit of zing to their food). The lettuce wrap chicken was well worth the 20-minute wait. Finished with the lemon ginger mousse, which was very light. The fortune cookie on the mousse was fresh and crisp, so good that some thought it might have been baked at Joanne Chang's Flour Cafe and Bakery. The finish was extra nice, with a red lucky envelope with chocolates accompanying the check, an orange at each table (signs for good fortune in the New Year), and red decorations hanging in the restaurant to create a festive setting. Good choice for the start of the New Lunar Year of the Fire Horse!

First time here tonight and had a great experience! A friend had won a gift certificate to this…read morerestaurant at an auction and invited us to go to dinner. The interior is very cool, cozy, and the cool red paint design on the glass windows makes it all feel very charming and comfortable. We did have a bit of a wait for our table despite having reservations. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share between the 4 of us - scallion pancake, bourbon chicken wings, spicy salmon rolls, pork belly buns, sliced beef, eggplant, hot n sour soup, golden potato and lemongrass soup. I think my favorite of those was the eggplant dish - perfectly cooked and flavorful with ginger and soy. Wings were good too. The soups were nice I liked the hot n sour one. The lemongrass soup was a creamy one quite tasty but also quite filling and rich. For entrees, we ordered the roasted soy glazed salmon, the Indonesian fried rice, bok choy and surf and turf noodles. Everything was good. We were all so full and also had leftovers. But decided to order dessert too - everyone loved the vanilla bean ice cream (the menu described it as a parfait) with orange granita - really generous too - 3 scoops of ice cream and the orange sorbet which was more granular than a sorbet more like very finely crushed ice. Very refreshing! The banana caramel crème brûlée was really good too - nice and creamy. The lemon ginger mousse was very creamy but I thought had a bit too much of ginger. I think the deserts were hands down everyone's favorite part of the meal despite everyone pretty much denying they wanted any! Service was very friendly by our server Julie who was delightful! Lovely young lady. Overall great experience!!

We had reservations for 7:30, and when we got there, the place was decently busy - a few empty…read moretables here and there - so we were seated immediately. We ordered quickly after perusing the (rather short) menu, most of which was either small plates and cocktails . Our first plate was the hainan chicken arancini. I really liked the contrast in textures between the crispy exterior and the tender chicken and rice mix on the inside. Overall flavour was not bad, too, but I'm not sure that it was exactly good enough to merit the price point of $18. Next was the Xi'an street noodles, which was probably my favourite dish of the meal. The noodles were very well cooked - chewy but not too soft - and I loved the sauce, with the gentle peanut aroma on top of the various spices they used. One comment was that the chilli crisp, which was tasty, was very lacking (in amount) and as a consequence the dish was really not spicy at all. Finally we had the chilli crisp buffalo chicken. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the chicken was boneless (I was expecting something more like chicken wings), which made for very clean eating :) The buffalo sauce was nice (and perhaps a bit spicier than the aforementioned chilli crisp) and the chicken itself was very rich and juicy. Portion size was quite large too and overall I was very happy with this plate. For drinks we ordered the Jaded, which was a fun matcha-themed cocktail (even the marshmallow was matcha-flavoured) and a (spirit-free) cranberry limeade, which was surprisingly refreshing and sweet. Overall a yummy meal, but definitely very expensive. I would be interested to try some more of their cocktails, which seem very creative, but I'm not sure if I would be keen to come again primarily for the food. (To be fair, though, this is often the modus operandi of these restaurants that specialise in small plates and drinks )

Great Cocktails, Average Food. I hovered between 3 and 4…read morestars here - ultimately deciding on 3 because while this is a great place to hang and grab drinks, the food is disappointing. Everyone was friendly and attentive but the food took a while to come out and it was just average. The best thing was the curry noodles and even those were a little bland. Also it was fairly expensive so I expected bigger portions or at least better flavor. Drinks on the other hand were delicious!
