Sushi lunch - Hawaiian and Dancing Eel
    Matt M.

Sat at the bar during lunch and service was fantastic, the bartenders and servers were just happy and upbeat. This place has serious decor, so if you come for a date you should be pleased. I was there for a business lunch and it was good for a meeting. The food was good, not great, but like I said, the ambience and service were great. It was not that the sushi was bad, but there are just much better sushi places in the area. But what about the food Hawaiian Roll - this was tasty, really not what I expected. Dancing Eel - meh, it was okay. Crawfish Roll - another good roll. Alaska Roll - probably the best roll we sampled. Tuna Roll - okay, it was okay. Like I said, it is not that anything was bad, it was just not as good as other locations nearby. It is kind of like the difference in a steak from Golden Corral and Outback Steak House. Service at the bar really was great, she had us laughing and entertained. I wish I asked her for her name, I would have included it in my post.

Service was very good, ambiance with the large Hibachi tables reminded me of the popular Benihana restaurants of years ago. We elected to do the set dinner for two. The portions of the dish were plenty, but the food lacked any flavor or umami taste. The set included salad and a soup with a very little small taste of miso. This restaurant has to just pick up their game and add a little flavoring to make them a good Japanese steak/hibachi restaurant.

Sushi Rock is a GREAT SUSHI restaurant!! I've been there on multiple occasions over the years and they never disappoint!! The sushi dishes are always so fresh and the Chefs are always masters at the Hibachi!! The hot dishes are always SOO delicious! The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is so comfortable and inviting! The wait staff is always helpful and accommodating. I would always recommend Kyodai Sushi Rock for an incredible night out!

In town visiting family and I treated my niece and nephew to dinner. Interesting that this place is called sushi rock, because I found the sushi to be the weakest part of the meal. We got a Philadelphia roll, a bagel roll, grilled tuna roll and an eel roll. The rolls were small and were just okay. Granted I didn't get fancier/raw rolls. Do maybe that would make a difference? We also got veggie tempura, which was fine. The star was the hibachi. I got shrimp and scallops and was impressed with how they tasted. The scallops were huge and flavorful. The veggies were well seared on the hibachi and went well with the sauces. The rice was fine. I wish I could have given a 3 1/2. I would give the hibachi a 4.

Soup was so good I wanted more!

Huge building and huge crowd buts its a Holiday Friday so not too bad as no lines to wait. Service was good and our cook pretty quiet. LOL. The steak was delicious and the chicken dry tonight but I gingered it up and it was doable. The soup was so good.need to take some home! For me it was pretty hot in there..maybe it was all those grills fired up so was glad to get back outside. Had Friday fun with my family and that is what matters. Might order some soup to go??

Went here with my boyfriend and the lady was very nice serving us and we ordered. First, there was a hair in my sushi. When I told the server, instead of taking my whole plate she just told me to put the roll that had hair on it on a separate plate and she would redo it... EW! Second, the sushi did not taste fresh at all! It tasted as if the ingredients were old or something.. third, I was giving a wrong roll which was really expensive that I of course didn't order. The good thing was that the manager did give us 20% off and took off the roll I didn't order, very sweet man but I will not be returning.

I came here to celebrate one of my girlfriend's birthday for lunch, who I haven't seen in a while and this hibachi restaurant was closest to her. On a Saturday for lunch, it wasn't busy. Lots of open hibachi tables and it was quiet. The hostess greeted us when we arrived and walked us to an open hibachi table with family and children. The waitress came by, handed our menus and took our beverage order. When she returned, I ordered the steak (medium rare) and chicken hibachi with fried rice and vegetables and my girlfriend ordered chicken with double rice, no vegetables. For sushi, I got the Rainbow Roll and she ordered the Philadelphia roll (?) - the crabmeat and cream cheese roll. The hibachi chef came out, checked our orders and started to cook. Normally at hibachi grills, the chefs are always entertaining and keeping things up to beat. It appeared he was nonchalant and quiet the whole time when he was cooking. Didn't really interact with us or towards the family with children sitting at the same table either. He didn't do any chef tricks or onion "volcanoes". Just pretty much focused on cooking. It was a bit of a bummer for us, but I guess they are more entertained at night than during the day. Although the chef wasn't entertaining however, his cooking was really good. The fried rice and vegetables were cooked nicely and not too salty. The chicken was great and cooked enough to still keep the meat juice in place. The steak was more medium than medium rare except maybe two pieces. It was still juicy and cooked nicely though. Everything was cooked well and I think that was what made the difference in giving the extra star. He lacked interaction, but his cooking was phenomenal. My girlfriend also experienced and felt the same way. The sushi tasted good and was made well. Overall, my experience during lunch with the chef wasn't that great however, his food was more than satisfactory. I think maybe next time, we'll visit the evening to see if there's a difference in the atmosphere with the staff and chefs - we won't mind giving it another shot.

Firstly, I used to go to this place when it was across the street as just plain ole' sushi rock. I didn't even know that they moved and expanded! Nice spot (old Smoky Bones maybe?) by the mall, very large inside with countless grills. I did notice it slightly smelled of something odd when walking inside, but the aroma soon took over from the grills. We waited a short five minutes before being sat. The place is very loud as a warning ... louder than other hibachi places. I ordered the filet and shrimp, and it was very good. You definitely will not leave hungry. I like their shrimp (yum yum) sauce here because it is not as sweet as others in the area.

I love going to sushi restaurants, so I was excited to get a good meal and some sake at Kyodai with my two friends. Pros: Sushi was fresh. Good music rocks through the place. My tempura scallops were delicious. The waitress was mannerly and friendly. Prices were moderate. Cons: Table was sticky. The waitress was not so efficient (forgot the rice; sake came out 25 mins. after we ordered it). I am pretty sure I won't return. Not worth it.

The rolls I ordered were just low quality. Like I was eating store bought sushi. Don't think I will come here again. It was sub par. Service was fine. I ordered Green tea, Steamed Pork Buns, Wonton soup, and Sizzling Steak with white rice. The Green tea came right away and it was a single cup. I had to order tea again to get a refill. The Wonton soup was served and it literally had no flavor. I opened a couple of the wontons and there was in fact a small piece of pork inside, but it had ZERO flavor, no taste whatsoever. The broth it was served in, had not a hint of pork. I asked the server about the flavor and she said she would have to ask the cook, but they never got back to me and they didn't offer to take it off my bill. I do not consider this good service. The Steamed Pork Buns were served and again there was no pork flavor. I broke it half and handed it to my girlfriend and she tasted it, no flavor. We even tried to eat the pork in the bun separately and it had no taste of pork. I wondered if it was actually pork. The last item was Sizzling Steak with peppers and onions. The steak was tough and very chewy and again there was no flavor. I could taste the onion and peppers, but the steak had no flavor. I don't think I have ever had such a bad experience in an Asian restaurant. The pictures I shared are different than the menu, the pork buns I shared are the actual. The menu shows 4 buns. The white rice was a very small serving, my girlfriend said they didn't provide enough rice. If you have eaten here and enjoyed your meal, post a review. I personally would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I give one star only because the Kung Pao Chicken was very good. Everything else was not worth what I was charged. I would also confirm what another customer posted about the seat covering in the booths. Note: I have not tried any of the sushi, or anything except what I wrote in my review. I forgot to take a photo of the Wonton soup.

I know I'm probably not gonna be popular with my opinions, but they are in fact my opinions in my feeling about what I had today. Food--4/10. If you know me, I hate to leave less than stellar reviews for places. But I was very unimpressed by the food here today. Almost everything was bland and locked flavor. The gyoza was over fried, the hibachi items were cooked well but lacking all seasoning, the mango rock roll tasted like nothing, and the spicy shrimp tempura roll had neither flavor nor spice. The only decent role was the sweet potato roll. I'll also say even the wasabi had no kick. I literally took the entire dollop and put it on a roll just to try to get some flavor from it. Also for the tempura items, they don't bring you any kind of Ponzu or dipping sauce. All you get is the regular Yum Yum sauce or soy sauce. I left my review at a four out of ten because all of the food items were prepared for the most part aesthetically, pleasing, visually and fully cooked pour the parts that were cooked. Service--7/10. The staff here was definitely amiable. I wouldn't say they were very friendly. They kind of addressed everything very mechanically. Even the food when it's brought out multiple orders are brought out by one person, and they dropped them at various tables without saying a word. I did not get a refill of my drink for the first time until the end of my meal. Atmosphere--9/10. This is one of the few times I have not taken a picture of the interior of a restaurant to share the atmosphere. Usually, I avoid taking pictures when there's a good amount of people around because I feel like I'm invading their time with their meal and companions. So all I can really say about this location is it is generally pleasing. It's it's clean. I'll be a bit crowded with the tables. The location is in a strip mall in Mandarin and parking is a little weird. The parking spots are very close though. All know it was an OK visit for the price. I feel like in my personal opinion there is much better sushi out there for only a couple dollars more per person for the buffet. But based on the crowds, they're even today it's obviously a popular location. It just was not my idea of good sushi.
