I ordered Green tea, Steamed Pork Buns, Wonton soup, and Sizzling Steak with white rice. The Green tea came right away and it was a single cup. I had to order tea again to get a refill. The Wonton soup was served and it literally had no flavor. I opened a couple of the wontons and there was in fact a small piece of pork inside, but it had ZERO flavor, no taste whatsoever. The broth it was served in, had not a hint of pork. I asked the server about the flavor and she said she would have to ask the cook, but they never got back to me and they didn't offer to take it off my bill. I do not consider this good service. The Steamed Pork Buns were served and again there was no pork flavor. I broke it half and handed it to my girlfriend and she tasted it, no flavor. We even tried to eat the pork in the bun separately and it had no taste of pork. I wondered if it was actually pork. The last item was Sizzling Steak with peppers and onions. The steak was tough and very chewy and again there was no flavor. I could taste the onion and peppers, but the steak had no flavor. I don't think I have ever had such a bad experience in an Asian restaurant. The pictures I shared are different than the menu, the pork buns I shared are the actual. The menu shows 4 buns. The white rice was a very small serving, my girlfriend said they didn't provide enough rice. If you have eaten here and enjoyed your meal, post a review. I personally would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I give one star only because the Kung Pao Chicken was very good. Everything else was not worth what I was charged. The service was mid, our server was rude and had an overall negative aura the whole time we were there, it felt like she was mad that we were there. They really need to work on being a waitress and having communication skills that actually makes an eating experience worth it and actually making the customers feel comfortable. I've enjoyed Miya very much in the past. I had mixed opinions on my recent visit. First, the good- they had excellent service! All items - which were a lot mind you, came out shockingly fast. I enjoyed my appetizer cheese wontons, soup, and sashimi. My tea was tasty as well. Everyone in my party enjoyed their sushi rolls a lot. I still enjoy that they have dessert as we always enjoy the green tea ice cream and oranges (fresh fruit). My hesitation to recommend- the floor was awfully dirty throughout the entire restaurant. Very slippery. It felt like there was a layer of film that had been there for a while and whatever cleaner/ method of cleaning was being used just did not help. In the bathroom I also noticed some trash under the sink that seemed to have been there for a long time and there was lots of soap on the floor. It just could use a little care. But I understand that keeping up with all of this is not an easy task. The other drawback I noticed was the spicy tuna (which to my mistake I picked rolls that had this in each of them) didn't really even resemble fish. It was ground up to a pate and very red which just didn't seem natural to me. Not a fan but I did eat my rolls out of necessity. I'll just make a mental note not to get that in the future. Bumping this review down one star because we went back a few times, and both times, things listed on the menu were "not available." It is probably not a coincidence that the things unavailable are the more expensive items (such as clam). One time is like "ok, this is a popular item and it is out" but 2 times in a row and it seems apparent they are limiting that item. So Option B, Romaine Lettuce in Oyster Sauce was my next option; was also told not available. Third time has to be the charm, I went with Eggplant in Garlic Sauce. Man, what a game "mind blown" changer. Most of time, in most Asian Restaurants, eggplant dishes normally are just sautéed then added into special sauces. The taste is similar and predictable. The Eggplant dish at Miya Sushi, it looks like the Eggplant is lightly battered, fried and added onto the sauce. The result is nothing but deliciousnessnessness. I've been going here for at least six years now. I tell & take EVERYONE to this place! I'm very picky with my sushi places but not only are you supporting a local business but they also, genuinely have incredible food. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive. I've come in on days where I've been down in the dumps and they've given me little phoenixes or flowers on my sushi plates. They also have a little robot that comes out sometimes to serve you your food! It might not be the most grand place but it's cozy & I belief that's what truly matters in life. Today's birthday celebration for a friend turned out very good as we found this place by accident! The vegetarian sushi was somewhat limited but the kitchen entree was great. Very much enjoyed the freshness of the food. We had two servers both of which were attentive for the most part. I will say I did take a little bit longer than I had hoped for the refill on the ice tea but when I told him I wanted extra ginger they were spot on. You can never have enough ginger. I am a sushi connoisseur and could barely get down this sushi. I ordered for pick-up because when I went on their website, it said pick-up only although I saw here on Yelp that they do AYCE. I spent $26 on 2 tuna rolls, 2 avocado rolls and a small wonton soup. Knowing that they do AYCE, I'm surprised that the cost was so high when you can do AYCE for 14.99? When walking into the restaurant itself, there were 2 doors on each side with no proper signage to tell you where to pick-up. There were only 4 customers in the building which made me feel weird because at other AYCE sushi places- they are packed during lunch... that should have been my first red flag. I did ask the gentleman who helped me if there was soy sauce and wasabi in the bag and he seemed bothered by me double checking. When opening the actual bag, there was 2 soy sauces that had barely any in each and there was only a small amount of wasabi in the tuna roll tray. The wonton soup was absolutely awful-- the wonton itself was rubbery and the meat inside tasted off and came to me lukewarm not even hot... I didn't finish it. The avocado roll was probably the best of the 3 things I ordered but I think it's hard to mess up a vegetable roll. Some of the avocado was brown and should have been cut out but they strategically placed the sushi so the "bad" part wasn't visible from the top. Tuna rolls are my preference and while they had a good fish to rice ratio, it was still nearly inedible. I only ate a couple pieces of each and felt sick to my stomach. Stopped in last night for dinner of AYCE sushi and other Asian fusion dishes. My wife was a little apprehensive about returning bc last time she felt it was a little warm and there were small gnats flying around. Well I am happy to report that when we went this time the dining room was cool and there were no gnats. We were seated immediately in a spacious booth and provided with the papers to order (you get one for hot food and one for sushi but you can order as many times as you like). Although we were seated around other patrons we were able to talk to each other in a normal voice as opposed to other AYCE sushi places where I have to scream at my wife or talk over other patrons to have a conversation. I ordered clear soup to start which had mushroom and other filings it was hot and delicious. My wife ordered wonton soup but liked my clear soup so much she ordered her own later in the meal. We also ordered lumpia, egg rolls and shrimp tempura. All were well cooked and still warm like they just came out of the fryer. I ordered teriyaki veggies but they never arrived. I was so full from the sushi that I forgot about them until I got home. We also ordered several sushi rolls, all were well prepared and came in 8 pieces as opposed to 4 or 5 that you get at most places. My fave was a shrimp tempura roll with spicy tuna and eel sauce. Staff was attentive but there were times that the water glasses ran low or empty. They also have carry out. Found this ayce sushi spot from yelp and it's fairly positive reviews. To my shock this was the worst sushi experience I have ever had. My experience was abysmal at best. The restaurant itself is very dirty. The floors need a thorough scrubbing, the booths are covered in old moving blankets, and the restaurant smells of mildewed rags/mops. I was seated at a booth with a view of the kitchen, and it was clearly unkempt and caked with grease. The cooks and servers were coughing and blowing their noses frequently and not washing their hands before handling food or interacting with customers. After watching this I was unsure if I felt comfortable eating here. I ended up ordering and the sushi did come out quickly and the portion size was generous, but this is where the positives started and ended. I have not had sushi before that is almost inedible. It's my favorite food and typically I happily clear my plate. The fish was warm and fishy smelling- not fresh at all. It had a mealy texture and it almost didn't even taste like fish. The rice was stale and hard but also wasn't sushi rice. The nori used was soggy and had a putrid fish smell. I am Japanese and know what each staple ingredient should taste like. I ended up just paying for the rolls and leaving without eating much because I knew I would likely have food poisoning if I continued and the taste was horrible. You couldn't pay me to finish my plate. The service is fine, but they stand by the register and watch you eat which is awkward and uncomfortable. Buyer beware. Skip and go somewhere else! I've been here a couple times- was going to leave a 4 or 5 star review after our most recent trip as my general experience has been good (not great, but not too expensive either) AYCE sushi with decent service. Although our most recent trip the price bumped up to $25/person. However, the most recent time my wife and I went I tried the yakitori (chicken skewer) appetizer. It would have been fine (again, not great, just okay) but I bit into it and the entire center was RAW. I pointed it out to the server and she basically said "oh, sorry" and took the plate away/didn't mention it again (no offer of a discount, follow up apology, etc). The casual response to them serving me totally raw chicken makes me wonder if it happens more often than I'd like to think, and improper food preparation particularly worries me at a sushi restaurant. The cilantro complements it well for the spice. The quality of the fish is fresh! My wife and I were invited for a dinner and we were told to meet at this place and of course I had to check it on yelp. So it is an 'a la carte and a buffet type of Japanese restaurant. First of, the place is not too big and it has the usual Japanese or Asian decor from the lights down to the frames on the wall. Looks clean and well lit. I have been in other sushi buffet and this one has almost the same menu and mechanics: order from kitchen and sushi bar and no left (waste) over or you'll pay for it. In the past when I visited Jax, I had only ever gone to Fuji Sushi. However, my friends told me about Miya Sushi this time. After tying it, I have to say, I'm pretty impressed by the quality. While the price is probably like $2 more expensive than Fuji, the quality of the sashimi and rolls are much better here. Thick slices of salmon, tuna, escolar along with generous sized sushi rolls. The fish was fresh with no weird fishy smell or strange aftertaste. Just clean good tasting sashimi slices. The kitchen items were pretty solid as well. The spicy wontons had a nice kick to them from the chili oil while the fried rice was nice and fluffy with good amount of seasoning. This has become one of my go-to sushi restaurants. I've been here 3 times now and every time I've come the food and service have been consistent. For $22, the variety and quality you get in their AYCE menu is pretty solid! I'm a big eater so finding an affordable but good quality sushi restaurant that doesn't throw me off from any weird fishy taste is a steal for me. The only problem I've had so far is that their avocado is either a hit or miss. The staff do wear masks and are pretty laid back near the sushi bar but they do notice enough to come around to refill our drinks and pick up the next order sheets. My friends and I usually go on the weekdays and it's not crowded at all (sometimes it's just us and maybe 2 other booth full) which we prefer especially now with Covid-19. The nigiri was much more fresh, and the slices were noticeably larger, and the special rolls had a great blend of flavor. The kitchen items were pretty standard, like miso soup and shumai, and the quality was comparable to the same items at other Asian restaurants.
