Kyoto Sushi is our favorite sushi restaurant in Ventura county!! The warm and friendly service, the authentic and fresh flavors of everything...It's almost therapeutic. Odd to say perhaps but this is true for my friend and I. Everything is consistent; Food quality - always fresh in flavor restaurant, customer service is consistently wonderful. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers. The ambiance is inviting, perfect for an enjoyable meal and there's always great music playing. Plus it's always clean. Now, for the best part: the food. The cuisine is authentic and absolutely delicious. We order different sushi rolls and each one is a work of art--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Even the basic rolls...not art but outstanding flavor and quality. If you like RAMEN....please try the seafood ramen here. My goodness, it's so good. I cannot recommend Kyoto Sushi enough. If you're in Ventura and craving authentic Japanese food in a clean, welcoming environment with incredible service, this is the place to go. We will definitely be back!!

Amazing food, super fresh and delicious! Everything has great flavor. Everything I've tried from here has been amazing. Highly recommend!

This sushi place is fire. The food is sooo good, 10/10 recommend.

The food at this sushi place is honestly so good. Every time I come here, the flavors are fresh, the rolls are perfect, and everything tastes way better than most places I've tried. I really recommend it if you're craving sushi or just want something delicious and satisfying. The service is great, the vibe is nice, and the whole experience just makes you want to come back again. It's one of those spots where you take one bite and immediately know you made the right choice. If you haven't tried it yet, you definitely should -- it's sooo good.

We were welcome as we entered the restaurant and seated right away. The restaurant is very clean and small. The menu has lots to choose from. The food was very delicious. I believe we just found a new favorite. We will be back.

The ambiance was very calm, warm, and friendly. The service was great! Our waitress was really sweet. The chef gave us 2 complimentary Gyoza, and they were absolutely, without a doubt, the best gyoza I've ever had. The crisp was insane, and the flavor was bursting! A wonderful surprise. We also got hot tea, which was and always is great and starts the meal off. I ordered a miso soup as I always like to see how good their soup is, it kinda sets the tone of the meal for me. It had tons of flavor, and felt like a hug to my stomach. My spouse ordered the Red Blossom Roll, she loved the roll and said it was very balanced with the salmon and tuna, and it had really good flavor, it was very fresh. Simple and delicious. I ordered the Las Vegas roll and really enjoyed it as well. The fry wasn't too heavy, and it didn't feel overly filling, it was the perfect balance of sweet, crunchy, salty, savory. We then shared the Calliand Roll, that was special! I have never tried anything like it. Sweet, but delicious, that melted cream cheese was just divine! We just moved to town and were starting our sushi spot search, but I don't feel we need to search anymore. It was 10/10 for us, we will be back, and often! Check them out if you're in the neighborhood, it's a small but mighty place!

Fried Gyoza and delicious hot tea! Check out that little kettle and that tea cup! Love it!

I've been here twice and I really love it. Their hot tea is delicious! It's like that gunpowder green tea - the flavor is POW! Delicious. I also love their Korean Ramen. It's pure comfort food. Their fried gyoza is perfect! For me it's little things... that make this place 5 stars. The music is great. Big speaker near the door that plays a great mix of music. Custom, not a radio station but a nice play list. The bathrooms are clean. The tables are roomy and seats are comfortable. Customer service is the best! The food is ALWAYS tasty! Lots of regular customers that always return! Ambience is great. Cozy, friendly, you feel welcomed. I really feel happy here. Definitely need that in our rush-rush world of fast food chains. It was raining.... The music was romantic and lovely. Definitely needed this little retreat in my life today. Thank you Shawn (or is it Sean?) for your great cooking and great service! Just love Kyoto Sushi!

No. But you get a lot of food.

Do they still offer all you can eat? If so, how much is it?

I've always known about Sumo's super popular HHours. Went for my first visit, and the space is…read moremodern and bright. Feels very contemporary and not like a darker wood ambiance of more traditional Japanese sushi places. This place must generate most of their business from their super packed HH. Once 5pm hit, it got noticeably busier, and by 530pm- fully packed. Sumo is maybe one of the few places that allows takeout of their HH items because they know how crowded they get. That is generous of them. I think their prices are among the most affordable for HH sushi around this area and everything was fresh. I am not picky sushi rolls person, but I would guess their sushi quality is average, made for mass consumption and general public, not for people who really want Japan level top grade sushi/ sashimi. Service: it all depends. Most of the servers are college aged young women. So a lot of them huddle and talk during busy HH time while they constantly scan the busy entrance for new diners. It can take awhile for someone to actually come take your order; we were lucky our server was pretty sweet natured. But in general I don't get the vibe that most of the servers are very focused about their jobs. But with busy HH, warm and friendly service isn't a priority. We're here for the HH deals and fresh affordable sushi. For these points, Sumo delivers. The ambiance: modern and bright, not my first choice. I prefer more low key settings. I think if I came to eat solo, eating at the sushi bar would be a pleasant experience, if I came before 5pm rush.

I came here once for their reverse happy hour…read more Everyone who assisted my friend and I were nice and helpful. Main reason I am giving Sumo a 2 star. I ordered their seaweed salad and their rose roll. It was okay. Nothing mind blowing, but I did get food poisoning from it. It was the only thing I had ate which is how I know it was from this. I know some of my friends enjoy coming here, but I will not be coming again.

It's a clean, contemporary space, though there isn't much else to say about the décor; it does its job without drawing too much attention to itself. The real surprise was the food. I saw that they had Yukejeon on their menu and I had to get it. I have been craving it ever since I got back from Korea and it was as if I never left. I recommend you give it a try. Also, since this was my first time I wanted to try something else and the worker, Judy was extremely helpful. She told me all the popular items that people have been ordering lately and I've decided to go with the Soy Garlic Fried Chicken. I'm so glad she recommended it because it was one of the best Korean fried chicken I've had in a long time. Now the inside of the restaurant itself is another great factor. Has a nice modern interior design with a nice shade of yellow. Exceptionally clean and had great Korean music playing. Overall, from walking in to leaving, one of the best services Ive had in a while. If you live in the area of Ventura, I highly recommend you go check this spot out. I'd give this spot more than five stars if I could!

There are multiple Teppan stations on one side of the restaurant and the other side is set up for sushi dining. We arrived 15 minutes before they opened and started seating. We were seated very promptly at 4:30 by a very friendly hostess. We were surprised to see the restaurant at least in the Tappan area full by 5 o'clock. That's always a good sign. You want to eat at a busy restaurant. The Teppanyaki menu has you choose your proteins, steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops, lobster, fish. Then It starts with soup, we ordered both the onion and the miso to try both. Our consensus was the miso was better. The miso must be traditional as that is what we have always been served at other Teppanese restaurants. Next is a little green salad with the house dressing. I swear the miso soup and the house salad seem to be the same in every Teppanese restaurant. Then the show begins. We all chose the upgrade to fried rice then the grilled vegetables each entre comes with three grilled shrimp. It's an appetizer. Always keep in mind with Teppanese they grill and put these things on your plate one at a time. Do not wait for everything to be cooked before starting or the rice and the vegetables are going to be cold by the time you get your protein. They brought the birthday girl a nice chocolate sundae with a candle and took a picture that they delivered to us. All in all a fantastic evening. Thank you to all the staff at O-sabi

The ambiance is nice, and the customer service has always been friendly. We went on Valentine's Day, so it was understandably busy. The hostess seemed a bit stressed and quoted us a 1-1.5 hour wait encouraging us it's pretty late, but we were seated in about 20 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise. The reason do 3 stars is that our soup bowls had dried food on the outside, which was a bit off-putting. Cleanliness is important, and that detail took away from the experience. Overall, we would still come back and give it another try.

I have no idea how I have missed reviewing this spot…read more We go to and work at the California Strawberry Festival every year coming from Mesa, AZ. It used to be in Oxnard, and we had a tradition of a group of us going out on the Saturday night of the two-day festival. It then moved to Ventura so it could use the county fairgrounds and be a larger gathering of people at the annual event. Since it moved, we decided to find a new place to eat. Originally, we picked out about three different places, from Yelp, of course. Drove to the first two and they were crowded with limited to no parking. So, we all ended up at Sushi Fresh and have not looked back. Great staff inside. Greeted and felt welcome from the start, we now look forward to returning and seeing the same smiling faces each visit. You know it is a terrific place when the staff does not have high turnover. The food is fantastic. The sushi rolls, edamame, etc. are wonderful but the best part is how many items they have that are not sushi, in case you come in with a group of diverse eaters. Personally, I go for the dinner box - pick any two entrees and it comes with rice, soup, salad, and your choices. I usually get a teriyaki chicken and a sesame chicken, but this time went with the teriyaki and a Mexican Roll. Loved it. Already looking forward to our next visit, next year.
