Fish was fresh and everything was packaged neatly. I didn't think it could get much better than that but was I wrong! We dined in yesterday to watch the game, sat at the sushi bar. We were seated promptly. All staff was kind and attentive. We ordered 4 rolls and spicy edamame. Each roll was delicious and what a difference it made it have the sauces added by the sushi chefs. We loved the spicy rolls. They even have kraft beer from Japan outside of Asahi and Sapporo. We had a great experience at Kuu and can't wait to return.

So the sushi came first and we finished our food and the Yakisoba and chicken teriyaki is still not here. We had 4 different servers come asking for things and orders and one of them asked if we got the bill when we hadn't even gotten our food. Not to mention when we asked for straws. It was thrown on the table which is also unacceptable. Finally the hot food came and we decided we wanted more raw sushi and here comes another 25 minutes and still nothing. When the bill came and I saw we were charged for gratuity, I didn't like that because first of all, service was horrible, we didn't get to enjoy the meal together we kept looking to see if our food is coming. Then cherry on top, you would think the owner would try to make it better. No, it was even worse. Yea because you were taking seats. I said there is a kid in stroller and another kid who can't eat sushi. If you have kids, don't bring them because they'll charge you for the seat! I think the rice was not tasty in either roll. The jasmine tea was my favorite type with blooming jasmine flowers. The service was excellent. There are also large tables, so it's good for families and groups. The parking lot is in front of the restaurant.

After some time, the owner came to our table and told us that another customer's order had somehow been charged to my credit card. She said she would cancel the transaction and asked us to place the order again. Naturally, I was concerned and asked for an explanation of how another customer's order could be charged to my card. Unfortunately, she repeatedly said she didn't know and offered no explanation or reassurance. Her attitude was dismissive and surprisingly unconcerned about what could have been a serious payment system issue. Because I was uncomfortable with the situation and the lack of transparency, I decided to cancel my order and leave. She simply said "OK" and showed little interest in addressing my concerns. Whether this was a system error or not, customers deserve a clear explanation when their credit card is involved in an unexpected transaction. The poor customer service and lack of concern left a very negative impression. I would be extremely cautious about using a credit card here in the future.

It used to be in Oxnard, and we had a tradition of a group of us going out on the Saturday night of the two-day festival. It then moved to Ventura so it could use the county fairgrounds and be a larger gathering of people at the annual event. Since it moved, we decided to find a new place to eat. Originally, we picked out about three different places, from Yelp, of course. Drove to the first two and they were crowded with limited to no parking. So, we all ended up at Sushi Fresh and have not looked back. Great staff inside. Greeted and felt welcome from the start, we now look forward to returning and seeing the same smiling faces each visit. You know it is a terrific place when the staff does not have high turnover. The food is fantastic. The sushi rolls, edamame, etc. are wonderful but the best part is how many items they have that are not sushi, in case you come in with a group of diverse eaters. Personally, I go for the dinner box - pick any two entrees and it comes with rice, soup, salad, and your choices. I usually get a teriyaki chicken and a sesame chicken, but this time went with the teriyaki and a Mexican Roll. Loved it. Already looking forward to our next visit, next year. Highly recommend this place to friends and family year-round even though we get in just once a year. Totally worth it.

He made other suggestions and we decided on three rolls (Crazy, Dragon, Snow) and they were all good. I really enjoyed the eel sauce on the Crazy(?) roll and I believe the Dragon roll was very close to the Tiger rolls I have been ordering. Again I have no idea what I am doing so I may have mixed up the names of the rolls. The place was very clean and cold which was very pleasant and relaxing. The host/server was also very attentive and nice. We already have plans to return and try more rolls. Hopefully, I'll see some of you there.
