We ordered takeout from here and it was good, I've been wanting to try it for a while. We got the salmon sensation roll, the Harbor roll, both came with delicious sauces. The spicy tuna poke bowl, it was $20 and I did feel like the portion size was worth it! Very filling. We stopped in at Lucky Sushi and Ramen and overall had a good experience. The food was fresh, though a little on the bland side. I ordered the poke bowl--nothing too exciting flavor-wise, but the ingredients were definitely fresh and well-prepared. My husband had the miso ramen, which he felt was bland as well. He had asked for no egg, but it came with egg anyway. That said, the staff was really friendly and worked hard to take care of everyone. There were only two servers handling a packed restaurant, so things were understandably busy, but they still managed to be kind and attentive. Not the most flavorful meal we've ever had, but the quality ingredients and great service made it worth the visit. Came here for dinner it was nice quiet and fast service. Sushi was good but not life changing. There bento box is good it feeds 2 kids perfectly! If in the area again we would give another try! Also as a plus if you have cash they give 3.5% discount which is also a nice little touch. read more

The sushi at Lucky was oh soo good, I don't have a single complaint about it. The entrees took a little bit of a wait but okay, understandable. The ramen was really good to me, I think the broth was a strong flavor which I didn't expect for a miso base broth. I enjoyed it but it's not my favorite ramen. I also think both of the main meals didn't have much meat to them which felt like an important part of the bibimbap and the ramen, especially since the bibimbap had no egg. Overall, it was pretty good I would say, I ate that ramen up, the sushi was fantastic, and the wasabi presentation won me over. read more

Not fancy at all but you sit at a table and there is service, though it was a bit slow, she was very nice and smiling. The booths are comfortable Sushi is about the accessories. We did not get Ginger and wasabi until we asked. We had Sweet shrimp which is usually served with a tempura ridding sauce. We never got that so I didn't really enjoy it. The sushi was fresh; the scallop was amazing. The ramen looked fabulous and we will return for that. I think it's a bit over priced for the experience. Paper napkins, not much ambience. We did order things that are on the high end. Toro, Sweet Shrimp. Baby octopus, uni, and scallop. It adds up All this being said we will give them another chance. This is a great spot to enjoy a variety of Sushi and Ramen. Their SALMON CARPACCIO which is avocado ,salmon roe, micro green, with ponzu yuzu sauce is delicious. Their HALIBUT CARPACCIO with red onion, yuzu ponzu, yuzu paste, cilantro is also another great choice. A very popular place! Promptly and warmly greeted by the lone, energetic hostess/server for the entire restaurant. She did great, but I can't imagine what happens when it gets busy. For starters, I tried the Salmon Carpaccio. Not bad. The salmon and roe flavors were not overpowered by the yuzu marinade. My sushi of choice was The Fire Cracker. Nice kick to it, for sure, but not too much. A lot of these combo rolls all start to taste the same. That's the only thing that set it apart. I noticed they do a lot of sushi orders here, which explains why service is on the slow side. The two sushi preps are not enough to keep up, IMO. I have to say, in my neighborhood, Japanese restaurants do not charge for hot green tea (or rice for that matter.) But, perhaps that is a dying tradition reserved to Japantowns. I came here for an event and when taking about this restaurant it made want to go back so I did. I'm happy to say the food was consistent from when I came before. Every plate that came to the table was presented beautifully. And the flavors were just as good as they looked. We started we the gyoza,so crunchy and delicious, and the Salmon collar, the Salmon was one of the juices succulent pieces of Salmon I've had. I really wanted to like this place, but it was really disappointing. Staff is very nice. Appetizers were good. We ordered 3 rolls and all were a miss. I feel like they're trying to do unique twists on each roll and menu item, but you really need to master the basics before trying to get creative. The biggest issue for me was the sauces on the rolls, texture, and the assembly of them. Salmon sensation was meh. Harbor roll has a weird floral plumb sauce. I was also skeptical when I saw the sushi chef was not Japanese. I am so glad they proved me wrong! The server was so courteous and attentive. The sushi here is super fresh! I started with an order of crispy rice that did not disappoint. The jalapeño was super spicy but it was the best crispy rice I've had in Ventura! For the main, I had the pink lady roll. Didn't realize there was no rice when I ordered it, but I didn't miss it due to how large the roll is. My wife had an event here and said I had to come. I'm happy to have a solid Ramen place to go to Thayer close to our home. It was a really cold day so the Ramen was perfectly hot, The sushi was fresh, it was a great meal. We got pot stickers for an app and they had the best crunch. Went here on a Friday morning, and I was pleased to have a good booth. I ordered the Cucumber Salad, which was pickled with thin cucumber slices and was really good, the Crispy Tuna Rice, which was good but borderline not bitesize(which is good), and the Yellowtail Jalapeños Roll, which had a tang and came with lots of spicy tuna which I liked. Unfortunately went for the usual good food and service however we had a terrible experience. We sat near the TV which was loud. We asked the server if she could mute the sound but she didn't want to and asked us to move away. We decided to leave instead. This is the first time we had seen the TV and it felt as if we were at a sports bar and not a sushi restaurant. The ambiance needs to meet the quality of the food and this time it did not. The management needs to decide what is best for the customers. Guess if they feel having a TV is important for their business then they just lost a customer that spends roughly $80-$100 per visit. read more
