    Matcha taro swirl cone
    Liz N.

Love the matcha taro swirl. It's just enough caffeine for me. I tried the level 5 matcha and was very bitter. Level three and lower were good for someone like me with low tolerance to caffeine but loves matcha. Service was quick. If you need a lid ask for it in to go container, the lady didn't want to put it in a to go container for me when I asked for a lid since they don't have lids otherwise. Nice interior limited seating, it's on Newbury st to better to walk over after taking the t.

A cute little cafe with not much seating that focuses on matcha and hojicha drinks and ice cream. I like that the matcha gelato comes in different strengths. Level 4 was definitely strong and earthy. My favorite was the hojicha soft serve. The hojicha latte and matcha parfait with warabimochi were also quite good and not too sweet. It is pricey here but the serving sizes are pretty generous for the parfait/soft serves.

Walking by never tried this spot before but did see it on socials. I like the concept, it's like Maiko but more options. Now i will be back to try their gelato matcha (and i believe they had an ube flavor too). 5 levels of potency for the matcha. Now the matcha warobi parfait was bomb. Lots of layers, toasted sesame mochi. It was enjoyable. My matcha strawberry frappe, now don't get me wrong maybe it's the style of frappe they do but i was expecting more creamy foamy style drink. It was very watery ice slushy style, which took away most of the matcha flavor. Strawberry sauce on the bottom wasn't overly sweet so that's good! Will try again probably another parfait and a latte next time, with a cone and gelato! Service was fine, staff was pretty quick and nice.

Mizu Matcha was a quick stop for dessert, and while the staff seemed a bit aloof, the service itself was reasonably fast. There is seating both indoors and in a small outdoor area, which is nice if you want to linger for a bit. I know matcha is the star of the show here, but I opted for the black sesame gelato and it was fantastic. Rich and flavorful without being overly sweet, it struck the perfect balance and made for a great dessert.

I saw a lot of people outside this shop so decided to give it a try. Seems pretty standard in terms of matcha stores, but the difference here is you can choose the strength of matcha you want. I didn't order the ice cream, but was decently pleased with my drink and the quality of the matcha. Would come back to try out some of their ice cream.

Mizu Matcha is a must-go for matcha lovers! It's very similar to Matcha Cafe Maiko BUT they offer different strength levels of matcha for their ice creams. They have 5 strengths, with level 1 being the sweetest & level 5 being the strongest + most bitter. I believe the strengths only apply for their matcha gelato. I liked that the have other options to choose from if you're not feeling gelato or ice cream! They have matcha lattes, coffee, Hojicha, black sesame, and floats! Today was our first time visiting & we went with the Strawberry Matcha Frappe and the Matcha Warobi Mochi Parfait. I ordered ahead of time, through ChowBus for pickup & it was ready by the time we arrived! The strawberry matcha frappe was more-so just a slushy. We were expecting it to be more creamy, rather than ice w/ a hint of matcha with strawberry jam. I know the drink looks too green to just have a "hint of matcha" but that's really all it tasted like. So, this was just all right. Likely won't get this one again but will try their iced latte version next time. Now, the Matcha Warobi Mochi Parfait is what I personally got & I loved it! It was A LOT of ice cream, OMG. This one came with sesame mochi, matcha jelly, red bean, & rice crispies. Perfect strength and bitterness for the ice cream & I think without the toppings, it would've been super hard for me to finish this LOL. Not because the ice cream wasn't good (it was exquisite!), but it was just a lot more ice cream than I expected & the toppings kept it interesting. Would I come back again? Likely. Would I get the same order? Probably not. Loved the parfait! It was too much for me to finish, though I did end up finishing it hehe. Will opt to try a scoop of gelato next time. The matcha strawberry frappe is a no, for me. Overall, I was pretty happy with the parfait & would visit again to explore their menu a bit more!

Finally got around to trying out this spot. Inside, it's pretty small and not really ideal spend time in there. We ordered from the kiosk and didn't realize we could sample the levels before ordering. I got a 3 scoop gelato and a parfait and the total was pretty pricey for just 2 items. The matcha levels really did surprise me. The level 5 was super strong and bitter. Very grassy tasting. And even the level 3 was also really matcha forward as a warning to those who aren't used to matcha bitterness. Parfait was good and generous with the matcha soft serve. Overall a great addition to the area!

Brand new matcha spot on Newbury Street! I came here with my girlfriend over the weekend to try it out and it was very busy. There was a line going outside and inside was super packed. It took us a while to get inside but once we did, we used the tablet to put our order in. Some people were ordering at the counter so that helped get people in and out. It took about 5 minutes to get our orders since there were several people in front of us. I got a matcha latte with strawberry and it tasted great! Though I wish it was mixed better but I guess that's something I could have done once I got the drink. I'll definitely come back to try their blended drinks and their ice cream. My only problem with this place is how busy it was. Of course that comes with being so new but I feel like they could have removed the seating area to make this more of an in and out type of place. There were just way too many people here at the time but hopefully that slows down in the next couple of months. Regardless, I highly recommend trying Mizu Matcha out! It's worth the wait!

I didn't necessarily have high expectations for this place, but I was really let down. Walking into the matcha spot, it's very bright and clean. There's a kiosk that you can order at but because it's my first time, I wanted to try their gelato before buying. For one scoop and a cone, it was nearly $10. The gelato scoop was also tiny and couldn't even be seen under the cone (see photo). They didn't notify me that a cone was also an additional charge. The gelato itself was a good flavor but was very very thick--not quite like real gelato. Overall, I was disappointed and wouldn't recommend this spot for their gelato. (Maybe their drinks are better?)

I had the soft serve and it was amazing! It was busy and hot inside since it was kinda small. Its a lot better than buying ben and jerry

Double gelato (hojicha and level 3 matcha)

My partner and I got a matcha chocolate latte and double gelato (hojicha and level 3 matcha) - TASTE: 4/5 - we tried the level 2 (sweeter) and level 3 (hit the spot) before committing. Didn't taste the chocolate in my drink, but the matcha was still on point, along w the hojicha ice cream PRICE: 3/5 - total came to $18, uf! SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - satisfied us for a sweet treat, but heads up that the ice cream scoops are small SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at 2pm on a Sunday, and it was busy as expected. Skipped the self-service kiosk line, ordered at the register, and it was ready in 10min ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - tight space, w maybe 5 seats, and minimal decor PARKING: 4/5 - got a metered street spot on Columbus Ave and walked over

Double Gelato (Matcha level 3 and Black Sesame)
    Nikki N.

I saw Mizu Matcha go viral on social media (specifically TikTok) so I decided to check it out before meeting a friend for dinner. It was slammed Monday afternoon so staff members were advising customers to use the self-serve kiosk ordering machine (mind you there's only one machine) and they were missing some menu options despite not having been sold out of the swirl matcha soft serve which was what I came for but settled for the double gelato scooping and honestly it was super disappointing, a little under $10 for skimpy scoops. Save your money, I'll be sticking to Kyo Matcha in Brookline.

Black sesame, Taro, Matcha Level 3
    Alex L.

Really strong flavors which I loved. Had ice cream and tried some levels of matcha. It seems like the general consensus is that level 3 is a perfect subtle sweetness and level 4 is good if you like a bit more bitterness. Black sesame also is good, and taro was flavorful but a bit too sweet in comparison. Would definitely come again! Kinda pricey since it's on Newbury though.

My previous favorite was Amorino, but I think this place is a step above. The texture of the ice cream was superb--exquisitely smooth and creamy, yet not as sticky as Amorino. Coconut: Coconut ice cream in the U.S. is always legendary, but this was the pinnacle of the legendary. The aroma of coconut and milk was the richest I've ever tasted, and it felt very natural, with just the right amount of sweetness. Naked Yogurt: Similar in design to Amorino's Yogurt & 0% Fat Yogurt, both were pure, rich, and unsweetened yogurt, but this one had a more intense milky flavor. Espresso Mascarpone: The signature flavor. The bittersweet aroma of espresso was distinct yet mellow, but the presence of mascarpone cheese is limited. Very refreshing. Other flavors: Pistachio had a rich pistachio flavor and was a safe choice; Tiramisu and Dulce de Leche were both a bit too sweet. From this perspective, Amorino seems to offer a more well-rounded experience, but I still prefer the surprising quality of this place. The sorbets were all decorated with fruit, making them especially beautiful. If you try too many samples, the staff might get a little annoyed. I was reminded after trying the fourth flavor, so I reluctantly stopped.
