This is genuinely hands down one of the best ice cream places I've been to. The quality is so fresh! If you're in Harvard Square on a warm day, this is the perfect place to stop and have a sweet treat. Morroco Mint Tea Sorbet: The first bite was a bit strange, but it got better and better with each bite... The mint was cool but not overpowering, with a subtle tea fragrance, perfect for summer. Go here!! Got a small mint chocolate chip ice cream and loved it. Took it for a walk right down to the esplanade and was wonderful. The staff here are really so sweet and made the ice cream that much better! I didn't realize ice cream could be gluten free, but they have a lot of more common options like chocolate available as gluten free so that's nice if that's something you're looking for. read more

I have been craving an affogato since I was in Göteborg, so it was such a relief to see that they had it. They poured the espresso into the cup before handing it to you, and it came in a paper cup and plastic fork. Not very reminiscent of the European style but the taste was satisfactory. read more

Fantastic little stop on our wandering/walking tour of Cambridge. Such a lovely area the Harvard Square is. Lots of activity from locals, students, and tourists. I could never get any of my kids interested in Harvard, so I never got the official tour. This was my chance, LOL. Well, no school tour, boo... Inside this ice cream shop is like a mixture of punk rock vibe, pink, black, and lovely sweet treats. I kind of like it. It's not like most ice cream shops in the south that I am used to seeing. ANYWHO! I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM! That's my motto basically so let's get it in me. If you pair that ice cream desire with a shot or two of expresso, things really start to look up! Behind the counter folks were ok. No real superstars to speak of. This is a great option for ice cream in the Harvard Square area. My girlfriend and I stopped here on a cold winter day (true Bostonians) and each ordered a small peanut butter sundae. We subbed chocolate ice cream for vanilla ice cream, and it was great. It had peanut butter sauce and hot fudge. The guy behind the counter really hooked us up! I couldn't even finish my ice cream! J.P. licks is (I think) unique to Massachusetts. Their menu includes ice cream, shakes, coffee, and many other options. They have some unique flavors (e.g. Celtics Pride), while also having their own take on classic flavors for their ice cream. I got the coffee cookies 'n cream and I think it's probably one of the better coffee-related ice creams I've tried. The coffee flavor is rich without being overpowering. The ice cream melts in your mouth and is just the right amount of creaminess. I also got a FroJo, and I think if you like your coffee sweet this is a great option for you! The coffee notes carry throughout, but are a bit overwhelmed by whatever else they add to the drink. I liked that they also had cow-related products for sale, such as cow-shaped bowls and mugs. Conveniently locared in Harvard Square, J.P Licks is steps away from Harvard University! With a large variety of flavors for ice cream, yogurt, and sundaes, there's something for everyone. Service was quick, efficient, and includes samples. We got the black raspberry and coffee cookies and cream. Unexpectedly, the mixture worked. Ok this was a bit of a hectic spot. First off it's like a hundred degrees inside, no idea why. It's so hot you have to get your ice cream to go. There were two employees behind the counter. Both trying to rush because of the long line which I appreciate. One was nice and the other one was rude and unfriendly. Ice cream was pretty good. read more

I was debating between mint cookies and cream and cookie dough. Service: It's ice cream, so it's fast (obviously). Came in at a slow time of the day so I can't speak on service during busy hours which a lot of the reviews here do however, the employees were great when we were there. We got to sample flavors (there was 5 of us) and they were really attentive. I just wanted a little something sweet after lunch and they had the perfect mini cup size. When visiting Boston we were told that JP Licks is a must go for ice cream and I'm so glad we went (twice!). They are also a coffeeshop but it seems like most of the clientele are there for the ice cream. They have a bunch of fun flavors that you don't see everywhere, so it's great to be able to branch out and try something new. They even have seasonal and rotational flavors that were all delicious as well. Great place to stop and eat, or you can take your ice cream to go. This location is located right in Davis square and is a 2 minute walk from the T station. read more

I always stop for a desert ice cream when eating around Harvard Square. Always get cone and void quick location, employees always helpful. , pleasant. The special gingerbread ice cream this visit was exceptionally good. My pet peeve at all the JP licks locations is the sugar cone with the glued on paper wrapper... Nothing more annoying to peeling ofc pieces and the lady piece sticks to cone... now do I need to eat the cone with the paper glued to its won't peel off or dump cone after eating glued on paper area ? I can't be only person annoyed by now as many visits... same issue... Get a new vendor for cones, tell vendor to change glue to non stick, use cones without paper and employee use a plastic glue if handling cone is issue needing this paper attached? Must be a better cone? Might be cheaper too without the paper read more

Other cons were that it's VERY expensive ( ~$9 for a small cup of ice cream), and the line was long, it took 20 min to get our ice cream. A Harvard Square establishment that has been around 30 years. It gets lots of touristy traffic here, so seating is hard to come by. While I always enjoy the fro-yo here, I would not be able to afford to be its frequent customer here. You are mostly paying for Cambridge's ridiculous real estate price. But they get enough traffic to stay open, which is good. Sometimes the line can get long, but you go through it fairly quickly. Study the menu before you jump in line. They do allow you to sample some flavors, which is a plus. Also, no credit card minimum. read more

I gave them my name and the employee gestured to a hot latte. It obviously wasn't my order so I asked again if there was an order for Deborah and again, the employee rather impatiently insisted that the latte was mine. I had to clarify my name again before they finally took a look at a bagel that had been sitting right in front of them. They didn't even apologize and said something about someone else taking my strawberry lemonade before finally making me my drink. My drink was good but my sandwich was lukewarm. Weird interaction that left a bad taste. I've never had a strong reason to come back to Diesel but I now have a reason to stay away.

There was no notification before my order was filled, no opportunity to choose a replacement, and no explanation until after I opened the order. The most frustrating part is that my wife specifically wanted Raspberry Chip, which was only available in the $27 quart size. I would never have purchased a quart if that flavor had been available in a pint. To make matters worse, I didn't receive Raspberry Chip at all, making the purchase completely pointless. When I called the store, the young woman I spoke with said it wasn't their fault because they hadn't received the flavors in their shipment. While I understand inventory shortages happen, that is not the customer's responsibility. Good customer service means contacting the customer before substituting items or offering a refund--not sending completely different products without approval. I politely asked to speak with a manager or owner, but was told neither was available. Instead, I was instructed to find an email address on the company's website if I wanted help. That is not an acceptable way to handle a customer complaint. Running out of inventory is understandable. Failing to communicate, making unauthorized substitutions, providing no management support, and leaving the customer to chase down a resolution is not. This experience fell well below what I would expect, and unless the company makes this right, I cannot recommend ordering from this location.
