Our server was extremely attentive. He even gave us wet naps to clean our hands prior to eating. Here's what we ordered to eat.. Appetizers: I love the Takoyaki Octopus Balls! They have a good amount of octopus and and flour! The Steamed Pork Bao Buns are very neat because they actually stamped their name on the bun, but it lacked flavor. Entree: The husband and I both opted for the Kyushu Tonkotsu Shio Ramen with black garlic. The ramen noodle was extremely good and just right, not too firm or soggy. It stayed at the right texture even after drenched in the soup for a long period of time!!! The ramen broth was not bad at all, very flavorful. The whole ramen combination was perfect! We went out on a Friday night and used the Yelp waitlist to save our spot, which made things really easy! They had outdoor seating but we sat inside. The ambiance is great and everything looks really great! However, I'm gonna have to give this place another shot. The Kaarage chicken ended up hurting all our stomachs and the ramen was pretty looking but it was just average if I'm being honest (I have ramen OFTEN so I've had better but I've had worse. Decently a few ramen places opened up. This is a Japanese style, but a popular Taiwanese franchise. They opened on Sept 24th of 2019 in Flushing, so roughly about 2 months. FYI: This location consists of 2 floors, on the first floor, there's 10 people seating available by the open kitchen noodle bar, and theres 3 little private booths on the left hand side to the back that's seats 4 or 5 people with a tight squeeze each. And the 2nd floor, according to the host (aka Manager), he stated that they can accommodate 20-30 people. (Pmeade see photos for reference) They take reservations and any big parties of 8 people or more, please call them 2 days prior. I was told that they are willing to accept cards for 8 people parties, for my non-cash carriers. Yay! There's two staff cooking by the open noodle bar and two servers running the floor, besides the host and some staff hidden in the kitchen. The staff was friendly, accommodating and informative when facing a ton of questions. I was a little disappointed that they were out of the Japanese cherry blossom jelly, since the shipment wont be here for another two weeks from Japan. But I'll be back to try more items write an update later on. Con/pet peeves: There's no clothing rack for the winter jackets to be hung or placed properly. And the biggest dismay was that there's no proper labeling for the dishes that are spicy on their menu pages; ex: steam pork bun, and miso ramen. Pro: They offer free wifi, and theres USB and regular plug-in outlets around the bar seating area for people with their dying phones and electronic gadgets lol. And when you check-in on Yelp there's a free thai iced tea or matcha pudding offer! They take all credit cards with no minimum required. And my personal favorite, they have a spacious(first fl) and very clean unisex bathroom on each floor. The staff speaks sufficient amount of english to not struggle during the entire dining process, and they do speak Chinese...since they are located in a very Asian community. I got to meet the owner of this establishment, who was mostly hiding in the back, cooking. Food: The interior is simple and inviting, I personally loved the giant paper lantern by the entrance and their wall full of written plaques next to it, very Japanese shrine/temple experience like. Their specality from the menu is their two types of garlic broths, consisting of black and regular white garlic. Then it's the two types of noodles, wavy and straight ramen. I'm a big broth loving person and the shio ramen was like a sweet garlic broth that caught me by surprise but it was good, its quality soup. The miso was spicy and I was thinking regular miso paste, so that set my mouth ablaze lol. I liked the straight noodles abit more than the wavy one, since I got to try both today. The popcorn chicken looked pretty plain but it was nice and tender on the inside. Their steamed pork bun, you can tell it was hooked for hours because it literally melts in your mouth like butter in heat. Everyone hypes up kyuramen and I can honestly see why. The booths are really cute and the interior is modern yet traditional? The vibes are very nice. And I love the fact that you can order on your own, at the comfort of your own table on an ipad. But the food. The ramen isn't bad. But its definitely more a Chinese style ramen. It is on the saltier side which is just not my preference for the broth. Objectively, its not bad. Just not my style. If you're looking for more of a Japanese style ramen, this is not the place. While the ramen here is passable, the omurice on the other hand, is just terrible. I just cannot imagine someone genuinely enjoying it. The eggs are bland, the rice underneath is bland, the demi glaze sauce is absolutely terrible and somehow also manages to be bland--everything about the omurice is just not up to par. The Katsu on top is good. The thai tea is also good. The desserts taste like nothing or are also mediocre. Serivce, mediocre. Ordered ramen pickup so I could eat it outside in the cold park night. I assumed they put ramen soup and noodles all ready to eat after just pouring like every single noodle spot I ordered pick up from. They just put all the cold ingredients and noodles separately and I had to have boiling water to eat it...I had nowhere outside the park to get water. The husband and I made a rare trip out to Flushing to run errands and I picked this restaurant after searching through Yelp days prior. It looked promising with great reviews. We came here at 11am as soon as they opened. We were the first customers of the day. We were seated in a private booth on the main level. We were given menus and offered a choice of hot tea or water. For the appetizers we chose both the takoyaki and ike geso kara-age (fried squid). I ordered the CP#1 (black and white couple) and my husband ordered the CP#2 (spicy couple). I love the idea of two types of ramen in a divided bowl - you can sample two ramens as well as being 'gram worthy. We also had the matcha pudding with red bean to end the meal (courtesy of a Yelp check-in). - Takoyaki: Loved it. I'm a huge fan of takoyaki in general and honestly I'm not quite sure it can be messed up. There were plenty of octopus in these little nuggets of heaven. I sopped up the sauce with the balls. Magical. - Ike Geso Kara-age: I really enjoyed this as well. It has just the right amount of sea taste. The splash of lemon helped bring this dish up a notch. Fried nicely. - CP#1: The pork was succulent with the right amount of fat. I feel like it would've been better if it had a nice sear to it. Also the broth came lukewarm so eating a char siu at room temperature seems weird. Honestly I didn't know which flavor was which but I do know that I care for neither. It lacked depth. I actually had leftovers and I'm normally a pig and finish everything in front of me. That says a lot. - CP#2: Husband thought his ramen was meh. Sapporo miso tasted strangely like mala. And the other was just the spicy tonkatsu which was alright... - Matcha pudding with red bean: Beautiful, simple presentation. I enjoyed this despite being explosively full. I love the subtle sweetness of the red beans. I thought serving the pudding with milk was genius. The appetizers are DELICIOUS here. Unfortunately the ramen left much to be desired. Service was good and the private booths are so cute... I almost felt like I was in Japan. At the end of the meal I went to the restroom and honestly I was SO GROSSED OUT. There was dried blood on the floor in front of the toilet (which could be hard to see because the floor is dark) and it was also along the sink (white marble top) as well. Freaked me the hell out. After I washed my hands I threw away the paper towel and saw tons of bloody tissues inside the garbage can. It traumatized me and just ruined the whole experience to a different level. I told the waitress when I got the check because I don't want any other customers to see that. I see a lot of blood with what I do for a living, but seeing it in the bathroom and letting my mind wander as to where it came from made me sick. The waitress went to go clean it as soon as I told her and was very apologetic. Honestly I'm not sure if it's their fault but then again I'm pretty sure I'm one of the first people in that bathroom for the day so maybe they need to do a better job cleaning overnight? I liked that their toilet paper is the thicker, plush ones though. Haha. Kyuramen is located in the heart of flushing. You'll have trouble finding this place. It's a nice place that sells ramen and other Japanese dishes. The food taste great and the environment is nice. They have plenty of booths for seating as well as an upstairs for more tables. They even have outdoor seating as well. As for the food: Tokyo Tonkatsu Shouyu (4/5): there's nothing special about this place but it definitely doesn't taste bad. This can come with a white and black garlic flavor. I preferred the black garlic one as it has a bolder flavor. The meat that they give varies in size when I went. I got barely any meat while those I went with got close to what is shown on photos. Filling but not heavy. Tonkatsu Omurice (5/5): the presentation is great! And it tastes just as great! Very hearty and flavorful with the gravy and fried rice underneath. The Tonkatsu was also lightly breaded which was a nice texture to pair with the rest of the dish. Okonomiyaki (5/5): very good choice for an appetizer. Perfect blend of ingredients and very creamy. I came here with my sister because I was craving Spicy Miso Ramen and with all the great reviews that this place has, I thought my cravings would be satisfied. I love the interior design of this place and love how you have your own private space if you choose to sit at a table. The inside of the restaurant gives off a vibe of being in a restaurant in Japan. There is plenty of space to sit at as there is an upstairs seating area as well. Upon check in, you can get a free thai iced tea or a matcha pudding with red bean. I chose the matcha pudding and the fresh milk that comes with it compliments the dessert very well. For the appetizer, we ordered popcorn chicken and had nothing to complain about. The main entree, on the other hand, is where my disappointment comes from. The Spicy Miso Ramen that I had contained such a strong seaweed flavor that it just completely overwhelmed the entire dish. There were also schezuan peppercorns added to it as well to make the ramen dish "spicy". It really disappointed me when I tried my first bite because I thought there would be an authentic flavor. If you are want authentic Japamese ramen, this is not it. I also tried the Brown Sugar Matcha Latte and it was way too sweet! Not even the bubble teas I order at the regular sugar level would taste this sweet. The whole thing literally tasted like brown sugar and I had to dilute it with a lot of hot tea as my sister nor I could drink it. We couldn't even taste the matcha at all. Not sure if I would come back here as I cannot consider this place an authentic Japanese ramen place. I finally had an opportunity to go back and try the Omurice. It was pretty good but not delicious like I imagined. I imagined the demi-glace being so much richer but it wasn't bad and the eggs were so light and fluffy. I'm just not really into fried rice. I ordered the soft shell crab burger and my husband ordered the fried chicken burger. The rice patty buns were interesting and I like the way it was stamped but not stiff enough to hold up to the burger. It was a mess, way too much dressing that drowned out the flavors of the softshell crab and chicken and too much rice, I only ate half a "bun". There is so much hype about this place and in my opinion, it's pretty good but a little over-hyped. My friend and I came here back in January and we sat in their outdoor dining area, which was nice! They had little wooden boards on which people could write a message on and then hang them up along the walls of the rooms. You're pretty much in your own private space because each of the rooms are separated and closed off with a sliding door. The only con about the seating was that it was hard to get the staff's attention because of how busy it was when we went. We got the Combination B to share, which includes: popcorn chicken, Kyushu Tonkatsu Shio Ramen, Miso Ramen, Japanese Cherry Blossom Jelly, and Matcha Pudding with Red Bean. The ramen was good, similar to standard ramen you get at restaurants. However, the popcorn chicken was a little too salty for us and overcooked. Also, we weren't huge fans of the desserts because the texture was weird and the cherry blossom jelly tasted like perfume - but we did prefer the matcha pudding over the cherry blossom jelly. The price wasn't bad for a shared combo. As for drinks, we checked in on Yelp to both get a free Thai Iced Tea each. Their Thai iced tea was refreshing, sweet, and a perfect drink to pair with ramen. I felt like this was a nice place to go to just to experience their pretty outdoor seating area and maybe as a late night meal after going out for drinks, but I personally wouldn't go a second time. We were both impressed with the soup, as well as the food. The tender pork chashu melts in your mouth a bit while the large amount of corn and seaweed complemented the broth and the meat. The bamboo shoots, normally a fine choice, left pieces stuck in my front teeth for some reason. The content of some of the ramens is exactly the same, except for the soup base. It's one bun & one thai tea for the combo if that's not obvious. I wished the braised pork in the pork bun was cooked longer so that it can melt in your mouth but it's decent. Easily one of the best ramen spots in the flushing area! My friend and I ordered the Combo set which came with 2 ramen of your choice (according to the server) but we kept it as the one listed. The Sapparo one tasted a lot better and had a little kick to it. The set also came with an appetizer and 2 desserts. If you didn't know omurice is basically an omelet made with fried rice and thin scrabbled eggs. This was my first time having it and I was pleasantly surprised by it. The textures were perfect and who knew a scrambled egg could taste so good. It was thin, but fluffy! The glace sauce added a creamy component and went great with the fried rice. Didn't get a picture of what it looked like underneath the egg because I was hungry and too excited to try it out. I really savored each bite I had! If you haven't tried it before I'd recommend it! The side of miso soup was alright. I'm a big soup person even when it's the side, but I wasn't impressed by it. It was lacking some flavor and fell short. A few months back, I had a very disappointing take out experience here - my omurice came with no demi glace sauce, and my pork bao and Thai iced tea were missing. However, I decided to give kyuramen another try after a few friends convinced me with their good reviews. We ordered a pork tonkotsu omurice combo with the Demi glace sauce, Kyushu tonkotsu shio ramen combo (comes with a Thai iced tea and pork bao), and a popcorn chicken to share between two people. Don't forget to check in on Yelp for a free Thai iced tea or matcha pudding! The omurice fell a bit flat for me - having the egg cut and the demi glace poured in front of you is fun, but the dish itself did not have any WOW flavors for me. I'm glad we decided to add the tonkotsu because it was crispy and still moist, which helped redeem the dish a bit. The popcorn chicken was very well seasoned and the ramen had the bounciest egg noodles, both dishes being the highlight of our meal. Corn is usually extra cost in ramen so the fact that many of their ramens come with lots of corn is a thumbs up! Another thing I appreciated was that both the appetizers and main dishes came out around the same time so I was able to take my snaps and dig in while everything was still piping hot. At the end of the meal I was staring at my friends glass and saw a red lipstick stain on the rim. I asked her if she drank it and she said no. Then I looked at mine and there's was another lipstick stain!! And the whole glass was just cloudy. I looked at the table next to us who just left and all the glasses were dirty cloudy.
