My friends and I dropped by this place several weeks ago. We were seated in a private wooden booth which was very cute. We ordered the takoyaki octopus balls, classic omurice combo with demi-glace sauce, tonkatsu omurice combo with curry sauce and the soft shell crab rice burger. The omurice combo came with a choice of lemonade or Thai iced tea. Everything was great, especially the omurice. One of the waitstaff cuts open the omelette and pours the sauce over the omelette. My friends and I took our May 2022 day trip Pac Man Tour to Flushing NYC. We must have hit up around a dozen spots and this one was my personal favorite. We didn't get too much... we only got a few dishes from each places that we really wanted to try. We/I will definitely be returning. We got the squid karrage which we loved. It is a very tiny portion for four people. If we were not going to many other places, we definitely would have ordered a second round. Even the fresh leafy greens they used to garnish was good! It had like a hint of dashi and my friends all thought I was nuts eating that until they each took a leaf to try for themselves. The Omurice with demi glace - this is an absolute MUST HAVE.I am not crazy about eggs/ omlettes. I have never ever gone to a restaurant and ordered an omlette that I finished or enjoyed every bite along the way. Which is why I never get an breakfast/brunch omlette. However, I'm pretty sure I would not have needed my buddies' assistance on this one. This so so good and that demi glace... I can't stop thinking about it. Imagine that gravy on roasted turkey! You get to choose between curry or demi glace. We chose demi, but next time we're on our tour we will get both! You also get choice between Thai ice tea or amazing lemonade . Amazing lemonade (non carbonated) - very unique. It taste like cucumber lemonade, my one friend thinks it taste like mountain dew. I personally liked it. The Thai iced tea was standard Thai iced tea, so it is going to boil down to personal preferences obviously (unique vs standard, acidic vs non acidic, creamy vs refreshing). If you lean towards the cautious side, stick with Thai iced tea. The yuzu white peach soda - winner of the three beverages. Don't forget to treat yourself to helpings of their pickled minced peppers in the tiny ramekins on each table. So delicious with the omurice and gravy. I didn"t think it was spicy since I was eating spoon fulls, but it burnt the crap out of one of my foodie buddies. They labeled it as saurkraut which I don't think they should have, because my burned friend didn't want to have any at first since he didn't like saurkraut which probably initially registered as pickled cabbage. One of our favorite places in Flushings. The omurice was not only Instagram worthy, it was actually good. The soft shell crab was also fantastic. The omurice came out piping hot and the server gently sliced it open, revealing the steamy rice inside. Poured some of that demi glace sauce (black pepper honey?) and lunch was served. The egg was cooked perfectly to a silky smooth texture, rice was devine once mixed with egg & glace sauce. Its a bit different from the tomato flavored omurice we had in Japan. Soft shell crab rice burger was interesting. The crab was huge & was delicious by itself. It was light & crunchy and went well with the creamy sauce. I personally preferred it without the rice burger patty. The takoyaki was good with a slight crispy exterior & creamy inside. Now they have 3 other locations [East village, Bayside, flushing] The east village location is a alot smaller than flushing, flushing location has 2 floors. On their 1st floor they have these private booths for you and your party or you could be seated upstairs. I still haven't gotten a chance to check out the bayside location yet. A few friends and I came here one night and had a really good dinner the place is small and cozy. When we walked in there was a wish wall which immediately caught my attention I got the chance to read some and the gentleman I front allowed me to add my own wish. I was then escorted upstairs to our table, it was a nice sized table we couldn't wait to get started. To begin we ordered some soju the only had apple and strawberry so we got a few bottles of both. The menu was straight to the point what I do wish is that they had a seafood ramen already put together they had pork and shrimp, veggie so I kind of had to put it together I was worried I wouldn't be able to get what I wanted. For appetizer we got 2 orders of shrimp tempura it was crispy and light the sauce it came with was also good. Everyone enjoyed their ramen I ended up getting the veggie and adding shrimp to it. Ramen is hard to come by in Flushing despite its numerous noodle options, which makes Kyuramen a great addition. I tried the half and half with kimchi and tonkotsu. Both were solid. The broths were thick and creamy, although I can't say the flavors melded perfectly for either, but it worked. The pork was excellent - very tender and well seasoned. And most importantly, the noodles were not overcooked. If I had a craving for ramen and didn't want to travel to Manhattan, this would satisfy my craving. But if I were on the hunt for the best ramen in NYC, this would not be the place. Bonus: they brought out the food in ~5 minutes and there was no wait for lunch on a Friday. read more

Besides the double-sided ramens, they have normal bowls, good on the side dishes, and good combos. There are combos for 2 people with 2 bowls of ramens with drinks + desserts!! Evidently, this is not an establishment that strives for good first impressions. I'm used to being greeted by the host when I enter a restaurant--at this location, the person just stared at me, like I was an IRS auditor that had come to shut him down. After an awkward moment of silence, I asked where I could sit to which the person said, "I don't know--anywhere", like I was an unwelcome guest in his home. After that brief and unpleasant exchange, the only words uttered to me were to take my order. No further communication was provided. It's almost like they were being charged $5 for each word spoken to a customer ($10 if it's a polite word). The food arrived in a timely fashion and were it not for the atrocious service, I would rate the restaurant with at least a four star. My impression of the general run of the place was that a manager was absent: the indifferent staff were shouting back and forth at each other and the music would routinely stop abruptly, before some one bothered to reset it several minutes later. At the conclusion of my meal, no bill was provided nor was I given any instruction as to how to settle it; that was left for me to figure out. read more

Instead of being dishonest why not just own up to your mistake and retain a loyal customer? I will never order from here again. What I enjoyed most of Kyuramen were their delightful desserts of "Mango Pudding with Red Bean" and "Japanese Cherry Blossom Jelly". Smooth and jiggly fun with each bite. As for dinner, al dente was the ramen in our bowls yet no depth was there to their broth; and, with their "omurice", absolutely mind blowing was the presentation, eggs beautifully cooked, but very salty was the curry sauce. All in all, with the promptness of being seated with our reservation, the coziness of our tatami-style room, and, the efficient and fast service on this busy Saturday night, I will come again! Solid ramen spot in the city, although I have had better miso ramen elsewhere. The service is good here and everything came out quick, almost too quickly! I got the miso ramen and added corn, and we shared the kara age. The Kara age had a great seasoning over it, I wish i knew what it was! We also got the pork belly buns which were pretty good. They came with spicy mayo sauce and it complemented the sweetness of the pork belly piece well. The ramen was a bit bland however, and based on other reviews, i expected more since I had this place bookmarked for so long... The pork chashu was also nothing to rave about. I would consider this an "Upscale ramen shop" but priced no more than any other ramen shop. The menu variety is HUGE, and yet the quality remains great. They served food SOO fast - literally coming out within minutes. Top notch service and food presentation. I have been to Japan and love how respectful people are and felt the same with staff here. They have private booths seating and each table had hand sanitizers and tissues (not napkins but tissues!). For decoration, they have a ema wall and an inside cute fake tree. Octopus Balls - Fantastic. Loved the presentation and the flavor. Served piping hot and the sauce was great. Fried Oysters - Being fried it had a mussel texture not slimy but with a little lemon and sauce these were wonderful. Soft Shell Crab Rice Burger - Rice patties held their form well but not overly hard rice, and the crab was a fairly decent size. Was solid and enjoyed it but not fantastic - still worth a try Sapporo Miso Ramen - For a ramen shop you'd expect their ramen to be their best items, but I found it to be their weakest. The half egg and noodles were great but the broth was not very flavorful. I wish there was more than one piece of chashu and the whole item wasn't a huge portion. Also their spice levels are very strong (mild had a decent kick) - but it definitely drowned out a lot of the flavor which I felt was lacking in the first place. Matcha & Mango Crepe Cakes - Both are wonderful. They are made with many layers - a mix of crepe and cream, both not overpowering in sweetness. $10 a slice is pricy but definitely very good. Food: 4.5/5 Great desserts and appetizers, entrees were decent Service: 5/5 - Top tier Ambience: 5/5 Cute Japanesque setting TLDR: *1 free thai tea/pudding if you check in on yelp ** Would definitely come back. Came on Saturday around noon, the service was terrible. Starting from waiting to place order which took at least 20 min. Rang the bell multiple times. Then waiting for the food took another 20-30 min. We asked the waiter for the ramen and they said something was still being cooked. Now, for the ramen, my friend and I both ordered the Mega Ramen ( photo included ). Both disappointed, big bowl with little ramen and was not same. My friend had a decent pork cha-su and in my bowl the pork cha-su was just the fatty part. Ok and then when checking out, it also took forever. We had to call multiple times for the staff to come to our table , thinking now feels that the bell on the wall did not work at all. Even the table across from us was getting impatient. It was surely not busy also, the place was empty and no customers were waiting. Not rush hour. We are regular customers of Kyuramen, and been to multiple locations but this time the experience was really disappointing . We will not be back to this location anymore. read more

This place is so freakin' adorable. Love the setup, it's charming & clean. I ordered the Kimchi Ramen & while I enjoyed everything in there my favorite part was the noodles- slightly wavy & just the perfect texture. My sake came in the cutest little panda cup! My bf had the Thai iced tea - shockingly wasn't overly sweet & I was very surprised that I actually liked it. I usually hate Thai iced tea haha. Weirdly enough I'm craving it now...probably because I'm super hungover but that's another story. I shall let the pictures do the talking but I am 100% coming back here to try more things from their menu. Service was also great, they were nice & attentive. Yay!! One of my favorite ramen places! Their food is so tasty! I've been ordering from here since before the pandemic. I made a reservation online and came in person with my friends. After the pandemic started, I haven't paid an in person visit yet but I've ordered delivery. When it comes to ordering delivery/take out, their ramen and broth comes in a paper container, in separate compartments. Which is great because you don't have to worry about your ramen being too soggy if you don't eat it right away. I usually order the Combination B, which includes 2 ramens, popcorn chicken, matcha pudding and Japanese cherry blossom dessert. I used to order on UberEats prior to their app coming out, but now that their app came out, it's a lot more convenient to order from.
