I had a fairly average experience overall with KZ2 moving company, nothing exceptional, but they got the job done. However, something happened during the move that really soured the whole thing for me. While the movers were setting down one of my chairs (a wooden family heirloom) in the new place, the chair was dropped. I heard a loud crack. I immediately asked, "Did that chair break?" and the mover told me no. A few minutes later, I came back and saw that the leg had, in fact, been snapped in half and someone had taped it back together with packing tape, as if I wouldn't notice. The chair would have completely collapsed if someone sat in it without knowing. I brought it up right away and was told I'd get a call from the manager, which I did. He explained that their insurance covers 60 cents per pound for damaged items, which would amount to maybe $11 for this chair. He did say to send an email and maybe we could figure something else out, which I appreciated--but honestly, the bigger issue for me was the lack of honesty. Mistakes happen, but trying to hide it rather than owning up to the damage was incredibly frustrating. This chair has sentimental value to me, and the way it was handled, both physically and in terms of accountability, was disappointing. I can't recommend this company based on that experience. read more

Unfortunately a very expensive, disappointing experience. I booked with KZ2 because I was reassured by Nick and team that the guys would be able to do everything (I was clear that I wanted a full service move - packing, unpacking, placing things in place). I even did a lengthy video call with another member of a team to walk them through our entire condo and the distance the move would take (it was the same complex). They recommended 7 (!) guys to get the full-service move done in one day - which seemed like a lot for a 2 bedroom condo but I was willing to proceed for the convenience of a full service move. Overall, the booking process was pleasant, but that's about the only positive. Unfortunately the move itself was poorly executed. First, I was told the 7 guys would show up in one van - instead they came in 3 cars, and I had to beg my loading dock to let them all park there...this was a bad start. Next, I asked if the guys could please not wear shoes in the house or at least wear booties in the house (we had just gotten it cleaned), but they said it was not possible (later I was told by Nick this could have been accomodated). Most of the guys (more on that later) were professional and to their credit very efficient, however they needed way too much guidance on the back end for unpacking - my poor wife was left overwhelmed with several of the movers constantly asking her where to put stuff. I was reassured when booking that they would be able to use their best judgement to unpack things (we moved into a condo that looked just like our old condo, in the same building!) In the end, we had sooo many boxes left to unpack ourselves, definitely NOT what we paid for. I couldn't understand how SEVEN guys could not fully complete a move of a 2 bedroom condo. Lastly, one of the movers reeked of alcohol - straight unprofessional and alarming as we had a toddler in the house. Another guy peed in the toilet and didn't flush, and they left a bunch of trash in the sink (this is after we bought them lunch). Really disappointing, expensive experience - would avoid these guys at all costs. Sounds like from reviews they used to be great, but clearly service has gone down hill based on recent reviews. To Nick's credit, he offered to send a couple guys after to help unpack, but I wasn't interested in their services again for reasons above. read more

Got KZ2 to help with a 1BR move withinSan Francisco. The team of three was very timely, communicative, helpful and treated all our belongs with care. We'd boxed about 80% of the items ourselves and KZ2 supplied boxes for and helped pack the remainder, along with wrapping and moving furniture. They disassembled and unmounted any furniture that needed that, and reassembled it on arrival. Plus drive time the total came to 7 hours. Moving is always stressful and tiring but KZ2 made it as seamless and easeful as it could've been. Would recommend. read more

I used KZ2 to move from SF to a warehouse in Oakland yesterday. The crew was great--fast, hardworking, and very professional. I was a big fan of the movers and would recommend them. The company and its pricing, not so much. The guys moved all of my stuff in 2 hours and 15 minutes. The drive time to Oakland was just under 30 minutes, and they charged 30 minutes after the move was completed. This additional 30 minutes for the return trip was not clearly in the estimate; it was hidden in a hyperlink in their email. Adding in the trip back, it came to 3 hours and 15 minutes, only 2 hours and 15 minutes of which were active moving. They charged me for a full 4 hours--an additional $169 for FIFTEEN minutes of driving time. It was ridiculous, on top of the $99 truck fee. I would have gladly paid the 15-minute increment, as is standard after the minimum, but the entire $169 was ridiculous. Had to scramble and borrow cash to make it work. 5 stars for labor but 2 for transparency and fairness of pricing. Editing to respond to Nick: I've actually used your service three times! The first was absolutely stellar, so I rebooked. The second time, you sent an inexperienced minor who was still in school and didn't do much. Customer service responded promptly and fairly, adjusting the price for the fact that I was effectively sent 2.5 movers, so I adjusted the review accordingly to four stars. So that was two experiences--one truly stellar and one good AFTER working with CS--so I booked a third time. I booked an early move--which you accepted it without noting as a problem for your team--if you had, I would have just picked a later moving time (and indeed did pick multiple back up times at later times). As I said, the guys were great, and I tipped accordingly. They certainly should have been paid the 2 hours and 15 minutes of moving time and the hour total of transit, plus tip. My issue is with paying for an additional 45 minutes that is neither drive time nor labor and that the policies are hidden in hyperlinks in your estimate. But your response underscores my point--this time, the team was great, and the customer service was not. It's also weird and unprofessional that you're also making up how I smiled and promised a 5 star review--which never happened--though I did thank the team for their hard work. To other folks, I guess I'd say the experience with them may be inconsistent, which is what I've experienced. Sometimes you may have good service and sometimes you may have good movers, but you definitely might not get both. read more

He apologized for the previous job and reiterated that it was not the standard for their company. Oscar was so kind, helpful, and understanding. He brought a third guy for the job and only had me pay for two to make up for the first move. They were also able to fulfill a last-minute request of mine to pick up a few boxes from another location before arriving at our final destination. Oscar and his guys were clean, quick, and efficient--a stark difference from the first go around. They made our move-in completely painless. I used them for a second move last month. It wasn't terrible, but I absolutely would not use them again. 1) My previous move included packing. This move included packing. It is the primary reason I hire movers. They showed up without packing materials. They claimed my intake form didn't include a request for packing. That would have never happened - again, it was the entire reason I was hiring them. The problem came in that they didn't say anything until I noticed that whole rooms, like the bathroom, weren't being touched hours in. I got pissed and starting packing my-fucking-self, and that is when they said something. Why wouldn't you communicate that in the beginning? Insanity. I'm not giving one star because once we did discuss, they offered to go get packing materials and try to make it right. But it was already taking too long. I wanted them to do as much as they could and just be done with it. 2) Because they didn't pack everything, I spent hours afterwards finishing the packing. Me and my back were pissed. Especially after paying all that money. 3) I downsized from a three bedroom to a one bedroom. My initial move was from a two bedroom with an elevator (so additional waiting). Why did it take the same amount of time or money to pack up and move a one bedroom? No discount for fucking up the move too and not communicating about no packing materials until hours in? Diabolical. Did I still tip? Of course. I don't know how much of the hourly rate the movers actually get, and they still did the labor; I tip for my peace of mind that I'm not participating in exploitation. 4) They also took the power cords off two of the 3 TVs. I didn't notice because I had only dealt with the TV WITH the cords still attached. That is unheard of. No movers do that. They wrap the cords and tape them to the TV. That's what the movers did during the last job, and what every previous moving company has done. So I paid to have TVs mounted that couldn't be turned on. I reached out to them and they came over to make it right. 5) Although I was pissed about everything, I appreciated that they made it right. So I decided not to update my review... until I finished unpacking my bedroom and realized they damaged my very expensive fucking nightstand. It wobbles like I've never seen any furniture wobble. The rage I feel cannot be described. Literally with a tight chest and shortened breath I'm so fucking pissed. I'm done with these people. I'll pay more for white glove service because I've already paid for this shit with actual dollars, inconvenience, wasted time, and rage which is probably aging me right now. read more

They took over 2x times longer then quoted, then had the nerve to explain how tipping works and ask for a 20% tip on the insanely long time they took. Never again. My last move was with California Movers and they cost less and took half the time, with one less mover. Insane. read more

Just an update and tip to anyone moving & you are having your items moved by professional movers. KZ2 was still great but I hadn't realized that there was a rule about making claims if anything was damaged in the move. Tip: check all items for damage BEFORE final receipt is signed and the movers leave. I had not gotten around to setting up my home office until today (1/30, my moves was in 1/15). I discovered that one of my computer monitors was damaged in the move but since I didn't check it out before I signed the final receipt it was too late to make a claim. I had never used professional movers before but in the future if I do, I'll know better. read more

This review is seven months overdue. And since I was a repeat customer, you can add another 11 months to that. Both moves went smoothly. The crews worked hard and efficiently. They were pleasant and friendly, and were careful with my possessions. Since you are giving them all the information they will have about the quantity of possessions they will be moving, it's pretty important that you spend some time making sure you are on the same page with the estimate. I didn't do that, and it took longer and cost more than I anticipated. Live and learn. The first move I self-packed. Nothing was damaged. The second move, I was offered free labor and materials. Of course that sounded good. If you accept that offer, you may want to supply your own materials or have a very in-depth conversation about who provides what, and in what condition. I had some angst about the packing process, and unfortunately, although only one thing got broken, it was my favorite Dansk serving bowl. But here's where they stand out. They didn't just blow me off because insurance would have only paid something nuts like 60 cents. The crew leader went online and found a replacement in new condition and had it shipped to me. I was totally impressed that he did that, even though they were having a slow period around the holidays. So even though this review was slow in the making, I'm not gonna blow these guys off. They have my recommendation for hard and careful work, and general demeanor...and for making the extra effort to make sure I was happy at the end of the day. read more

I moved in April and hired KZ2 for my move. They did a fantastic job and had excellent customer service from beginning to end. I called them to ask a few questions and Nick was able to answer all of them. I was worried about my cream colored couch getting dirty during the move and Nick explained how they wrap furniture to protect it. The day of the move, Oscar was the team lead and was very professional and friendly. He and his team worked efficiently and with care. I sent out a quote for movers and received a very quick and detailed response from KZ2. Had a couple follow-up questions and received an immediate response, which really sealed the deal for me. They confirmed the day before, as well as before and upon arrival. Communication is huge for me and you don't usually get the greatest from movers in my experience, until now. Day of, they were really efficient and wrapped even all of my furniture and loose items I had/boxes I couldn't close. That was a huge help and made me feel so much more secure knowing things like my wood coffee table wouldn't be getting scratched in transit. They disassembled and assembled my bed in two minutes, uncovered my mattress and put it on the bed, extra wrapped my mirrors and followed direction flawlessly. We had a hardworking team of two men, Oscar and Norman. Took them 7 hours to get our stuff (mostly boxes of books as I am a teacher as well as Lego and kid stuff . 2 dressers . The complicated IKEA beds were already taken apart but they had to take everything down the third floor on a hot humid day. We had lunch together ( my son made sure no pork in their lunch) and they only took two 5 minute breaks. I would hire them again. read more
