My wife and I moved from our 3br 2ba apartment in Alameda into a new house in Alameda and it went smoothly. The team came right on time at 9am. With 3 people, the move took 7 hours (not counting a lunch break for the team). If I could offer advice to anyone looking to move, I'd say go for 4 movers instead of 3. They are not very professional, they just threw all the remotes and power cords for the TVs all over the floor. They broke a wizard wand and a glass lamp shade to a very nice floor lamp, scratches some the furniture, put small holes in the mattress. They quoted 4-5.25hrs took 6.25 and tried charging more than that with a double travel time and plus 159 gas. They got lost, took almost 1 extra hour to turn the truck around multiple times. We were very unhappy with their attitude when we said we weren't paying the extra hour charge they were trying to charge us, wanted a tip on top of it! They purposely broke that lamp shade and left it in front of the house. Only 1 spoke English as well, hard to communicate with them. read more

They were extremely fast in getting everything packed up and loaded. It was a great price and they were very friendly the whole time. We did have a small issue where a cord was ripped off my peloton, I'm sure by accident, I didn't end up noticing until a few days after when I plugged it in and noticed. First,I'll say that it's been more than 2 weeks since I notified the company that they short paid us on insurance and asked for an adjustment. The fact they haven't responded took them to a one star. Now to the issue. When the team picked up our household furniture, we had a special concrete garden bench marked with green tape (treat household item). It was a special piece to us, weighed ~400 lbs (total - 50# for the seat, 150# for the front, and 200# for the rear) - Arriving at our new house, they brought 2 pieces of the bench in, but the 3rd, the rear, largest and heaviest, was not secured to the dolly and was not covered or wrapped, and fell off the ramp breaking into pieces. The team head talked to me, and though the piece cannot be recovered, we agreed together that the weight of the broken piece was 200 pounds, and insurance would pay $120. THEN, COME TIME TO PAY THE BILL - and the boss OVER THE PHONE , decided it was only 100 pounds and was worth $60. That is all the team leader was authorized to allow. I wrote the office a few days later, explained, with photos, and asked for $60. No word. Like most things, when faith is broken with a company, everything became more important. As a secondary issue, their pre-move promise was that floors would be covered properly but instead, on a rainy, muddy day which necessitated them coming through a large street puddle, they didn't have blankets or plastic to cover floors and tracked mud and water onto my floors and rug (the bedroom carpet WAS covered, part by me, part by them). Two weeks later we discovered a broken frame on a large piece of art, and missing screws from our bed's headboard. Altogether, we were prepared for some of the smaller things,but the lack of regard for our garden art - and the refusal to acknowledge that they didn't support their on-site team and pay the agreed-upon $120 - leads me to this one star review. I wish I could have focused on their polite crew (which they were) and their agreeable manner (which it was) and the willingness they had to help me put protective pad on the incoming furniture. Ova movers was recommended to me by a friend. Unfortunately, I will never hire them for their services again. I hired two movers and when I led one of the movers to my apartment, he complained about how the walk to it was far. I'm not sure how a customer is supposed to respond to that comment. Luckily, I was able to shorten the distance via the use of the garage of the location I live. The younger mover wrapped a lot of the items I had and it took him a while. It seemed like most of the moving was done by the other gentleman who was much older. Once everything was moved, the younger guy said it took so long and I responded with yeah, it did. It took them 3 hours to load a 1 bedroom apartment into the truck. Then, he said to me "why didn't you tell us you were moving into a storage unit?" and I was surprised they didn't know. I sent them the address and perhaps it was naive of me to assume they would check to see where I was moving my belongings to. Once we got to the storage unit, it took them an hour to unload and then I paid with a credit card. The young man spoke with his boss on the phone and then told me "my boss asked why did the job take so long?". Once again, as the customer, what are you supposed to respond with? I was surprised it took them so long too. I have no idea what their schedule or day looks like but I was extremely annoyed with the complaints the younger guy said. I also offered to buy them lunch and they said no, they had work to do. Then, I received a text asking for a tip for lunch and I sent one. I tipped them for what I was initially quoted for as I didn't plan for it to be more than that. On Yelp it says they don't charge for the truck or toll but they do and I have it listed on the quote I received. Regardless of my not to great experience dealing with the younger mans lack of professionalism, they still did a good job. Edit: I forgot to mention, they damaged the flooring of the apartment. My belongings were delivered intact and undamaged which was especially nice since my giant flat screen, my XDR monitor,and the delicate furniture from Room and Board all arrived in Palm Springs in the same shape they left San Francisco. While I still have miles of unpacking to do, I can at least sleep in my own bed again. For condo/apartment dwellers in SF, OVA Movers also were extremely careful about security at the building which made my life a lot easier given the many problems the building has had with movers not only just leaving our building open to anyone to wander into South of Market, but also doing damage to the building with their carelessness. We went through Yelp to pick our movers inside SF (0.5 miles move), and based on the majority of reviews and discussions with Valentyn, who is very communicative, we picked Ova. Our experience was anything but great. From the beginning the team that showed up came with some attitude and argued about paying for TV protection, which was included, and then did not cover our floors claiming that they already have scratches. After 2 massive scratches they finally agreed to cover the floors. I just didn't realize we needed to beg for the basic agreement to protect wood floors. The original quote, which included a list of all our items and sizes, was for around 4-5 hours and we ended up at 7.5 hours, which included a lunch break on the middle. I think the business has to give more specific and better estimates, or start visiting the homes in person if they keep missing the estimate (other reviews that seem to be buried in Yelp have the same complaint) To top it off, they just seemed frustrated at drop off when some heavy boxes needed to go upstairs instead of the garage downstairs. So we ended up with our stuff in the wrong location. Finally when we unpacked they had destroyed the side of our mattress. I had wood chips and holes in it. Then the business owner claimed that their insurance covers items for few cents by weight and in a way did not want to file a claim for my mattress (or floors) as I "will only get $40-50 back." So their insurance is quite honestly a scam. Upon payment, which was again much higher than the quote, although we had a horrible experience we understand it was a long day and I gave the team a certain amount of tip and their main guy demanded that I give them more - when I opposed him he asked me to call the owner Valentyn, who insisted that that is not part of their business. Then I got sent the Venmo link from the mover so I can send more tips at a later time. They offered wardrobe boxes that were all broken, they had to tape them to hold few items. Just throw these. And to add a cherry on top, they packed all the wrapping paper and trash on the truck. Once we went inside, they proceeded to fill our trash bins and the Neighbors trash with all these items!! So we had an issue with our neighbor 2 hours after moving to our new spot... Again, the only thing that worked is that they showed up on time and Valentyn was very responsive leading up to the move and during/after. I cannot recommend this business at all read more

TLDR; broke our marble table before loading, offered us $34 reimbursement! Mixed experience, but major issues with damage handling. The movers broke our $400 marble table while packing inside our apartment (before even loading it into the truck). When asking for a refund, the movers assured me that Valentyn would make a reasonable offer for our reimbursement. Later that day he told me their insurance only offers $0.60 per pound of the item's weight - offering us $34 for our broke table. Please beware of this insurance policy! I hired OVA Movers with one goal in mind: a stress-free move where my items would be packed AND unpacked. What I got was the complete opposite. Before booking, they blew up my phone with texts to earn my business. Now that I need to reach them? Complete silence. No response to my calls whatsoever. When the moving staff arrived, the unprofessionalism started immediately. They complained the entire time that the job required more people and that they were not adequately staffed for it. To make matters worse, they showed up without enough packing supplies -- and had the audacity to use OUR personal paper towels and toilet paper to pack our belongings. I'm sorry, what? They started at 3:00 PM and didn't finish until 11:30 PM nearly 9 hours and not a single item was unpacked. That was part of the service I paid for. I sent pictures of everything to the owner in advance so there would be no surprises. There is absolutely no excuse for this level of disorganization and unprofessionalism. I hired movers so I wouldn't have to deal with the stress of moving. OVA Movers added to it every step of the way. I would not recommend them to anyone. I used OVA Moving last week and it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with any service provider. ever. The movers were reckless and hostile--throwing my things around, leaving items behind without telling me, and screaming at me during a temper tantrum. When I got back to the house, I found they had broken part of my fence and said nothing. What really disturbed me, though, was how they treated my religious items. I had placed my Torah and a Hebrew book on top of my bags. Later, I found them on the floor with other things thrown on top, crumpled and mishandled. Whether it was ignorance or antisemitism, the message was loud and clear: they had no respect for me or my faith. When I called the manager to report it, he refused to take any accountability and called me a liar. Absolutely disgraceful from start to finish and I was forced to leave behind items that were very precious to me. Avoid this company unless you're okay with damaged property, missing items, and being treated like garbage in your own home. read more

Foreman Taras and his crew of 3 people did an amazing job! They moved stuff from 2 apartments and 2 storage units into a house across the Bay. They disassembled all big furniture, packed everything carefully into a 26 ft truck and then reassembled everything at the destination. The move took 13.5 hr. The crew had only one break for 18 minutes to have lunch that I provided to them. The company charges fair price and provides great service! My recommendation is to prepack any fragile stuff like glasses and plates yourself to speed up the move and reduce the risk of them braking. read more

I used OVA at the beginning of May to move some contents of my home, including large appliances (my refrigerator, range, washer and dryer) because they said they specialize in moving appliances. They dropped my refrigerator door on the pavement and while in transit due to improper loading, something bashed in the back of the refrigerator breaking the water pump and requiring me to pay for an expensive repair. They also dropped my office chair while loading it into their van, breaking it and costing me $160.00 for a new one. When I called them about it they were very uncooperative and reluctantly said they would file a claim with their insurance company. I sent them receipts for the refrigerator repair as well as the office chair replacement but they never filed the claim and stopped answering my calls and emails. I filed a dispute with my bank but they wouldn't intervene so I now plan to sue them and I will also be contacting Channel 7 On Your Side's consumer advocate reporter. Hopefully the bad publicity will convince them to pay for the damage they caused. Essential items--including our cooking utensils and knives--were left behind, which directly contradicts your statement that the kitchen packing was completed. Second, your claim that everything was confirmed on-site is not accurate. I was physically present in the apartment the entire time, in the bedroom, and was never consulted or asked to confirm that everything had been packed or that the job was complete. The crew left for the storage unit without checking in with me at all. Additionally, your crew arrived approximately three hours late, which created a time constraint to reach the storage facility before closing. As a result, they rushed to leave and proceeded to the storage unit without proper confirmation from me. We only left afterward because we were still going through the apartment and discovering items that had been left behind. Third, while my husband was present, he was not acting as a professional moving coordinator and relied on your crew's expertise to ensure nothing was missed. It is the responsibility of a professional moving company to ensure that agreed-upon areas--especially the kitchen--are fully packed and that the customer is properly consulted before concluding the job. Fourth, regarding the storage unit--proceeding without either of us present was your company's decision. You acknowledged this violates protocol, yet chose to move forward anyway. That decision cannot now be used to shift responsibility onto us. Additionally, your statement about being responsive does not reflect our experience after the move. When we reached out regarding missing items and the storage keys, communication stopped. Messages were read but not answered, and the keys were never returned as promised.
