I was walking around the riverwalk, and wanted to have a coffee. So stopped by this place. They only had la colombe coffee can. But that was a good strong coffee. I also went for a 2 scoop gelato. Nutella was my favorite flavor. Pineapple was my other flavor. That was good as well.

I was glad to see a gelato spot on the riverwalk. We got chocolate and coffee flavors. Chocolate was great and coffee didn't have much coffee flavor unfortunately

This gelato place is located conveniently on the riverfront and has some outdoor seating that is relatively empty. The flavors taste realistically like fruit, but the texture is super strange. It's super airy and doesn't really taste like gelato at all. We got the Pineapple and Peach. The flavor was good but really didn't vibe with the texture. It's $7 for two scoops, and they smash both scoops into half of a cup flat. Doesn't look like a lot, but is enough to share between two people. The flavors themselves are pretty limited though, it's like either fruit or basic chocolate/mint. Also doesn't serve any tap water - they said they're not allowed to, which is super strange.

Very delicious Gelato and the Riverwalk is such a fun place to be. I only wish they had a seating area open in front the day I was there but there are many other spaces to sit available along the river. Prices are high but not exorbitant given the location. Will def be back!

Strategically placed outside a splash pad where my children were playing and it was a hot day, so couldn't resist the temptation. But Sweet Home Gelato also delivered the goods. Awesome gelato that was creamy and refreshing flavors. My blackberry and mango were fabulous.

It's overpriced gelato. For the price I expect better, larger amounts, or at least more or unique flavor options. This was from last summer. While it's wonderful to have this option right on the River Walk and makes it more attractive to tourists strolling by and exploring the city, it is too expensive.

Strolling around the river walk, came upon this hidden little desert bar. My friends and I got just what we were looking to satisfy aft our sweet tooth.

Walking along Riverwalk & stopped for something sweet. Had chocolate and cookies & cream gelato with side of root beer. It was tasty stop on a warm day along the river in Chicago. Must be a new place since they had zero reviews.

As my girlfriends and I were kayaking, we could smell the sweet aroma of the gelato on the river! On our way back towards Michigan Avenue, we decided to stop and grab gelato. When we were arriving to the stand, the line in front seemed pretty long, but is fast moving! The small is a pretty reasonable size and if you get a large you can try two different flavors, which is exactly what I did! I ended up ordering the salted caramel and s'more, and both were phenomenal! I happened to come across this place by chance and will definitely be returning! Cashier and server were very sweet!

Nice addition to the Riverwalk, especially the water fountain out front that kids love to splash in. It does rob space from the possible seating area, but maybe they put seats out when it's not so hot. Not going to lie, the prices here are really high for gelato, even for my touristy neighborhood. You can save more money by going to Eataly or Amorino, but then you're eating inside an air-conditioned building and not right beside the water. Didn't mind throwing in a couple of bucks for a tip since these young folks were working outside in brutally hot conditions with just a fan. Still, the flavors were very refreshing, not sticky or cloying. Had the strawberry and the mango. Both delicious. Perfect balance between milky and icy. They didn't have a huge selection of flavors--maybe one dozen flavors total--but what a lifesaver from the heat. Welcome to the Riverwalk, Sweet Home Gelato!

The breakfast burrito is 100% worth the hype. Such buttery fluffy soft eggs w a ton of cheese & the most flavorful sauces (my personal fave was the red sauce)! This thing is massive - I had half and saved the other half for later. The pastries were 10/10 no notes. Very fresh, perfect textures, not overly sweet. The tineka was a flavor bomb! The bread was phenomenal. There's some type of sweet n slightly spicy chutney(?) that really gave it a pop of flavor. The slaw that comes w it was amazing as well. The carrot cake was so moist, perfectly spiced, and the right amount of sweet. Critique: while the baked French feta was good, I think this is the most overpriced dish for what is essentially a small block of feta with some sourdough and a couple pieces of olives and cucumbers. Also, the sourdough was kinda too hard and crunchy for my liking. This is the only dish I don't recommend.

I thought this was to die for - the pasta Yai Yai is a speciality here, and the ingredient list (brown butter, feta, and cinnamon) was intriguing. the pasta was perfectly al dente, long and thick pieces of bucatini. my dining companion loved this dish and was shocked how well the ingredients went together. I thought it was tasty but I could not get a real blend of the flavors, more just tasted "ok cinnamon" and "ok feta" separately, not much of a blend. - the Bavette steak could have been cut with a spoon. the most tender cut of beef in a sweet and sour balsamic sauce. the vegetables, cauliflower and broccoli, were cooked in different seasoning than the steak, providing for more complexity. the slivers of grapes brought out the sweetness of the balsamic.

As a big Top Chef fan, I have a running list of some of the restaurants owned by the "cheftestants"…read moreand judges that I want to check out, so I decided to make a reservation at Monteverde for a belated anniversary dinner while in town recently. Executive chef Bailey Sullivan was on Season 22 of Top Chef and the co-owner also competed in one of the earlier seasons. Nate and I arrived a bit before our 9 pm reservation but were seated by our scheduled time. The restaurant was super busy and very loud! We were quite close to the tables next to us, so if you're looking for a quiet, intimate dining experience, this probably isn't it. We ordered the heirloom tomato salad, sweet corn chitarra pasta, a side of wilted escarole, and the chocolate tart for dessert. We also got a complimentary mozzarella shooter as an anniversary treat, which was incredible. The food was delicious, but my favorite dish was definitely the heirloom tomato salad, with seasonally fresh tomatoes, peaches, mint pistachio pesto, and stracciatella. It was so flavorful and bright and I could eat this every day. It was a good portion to split between the two of us, but I'd probably order this just for myself if I came back and it was on the menu (it was that good). The pasta was a nice balance of savory and sweet from the fresh corn, and I loved the texture of the bronze die extruded pasta. Service was great, with waters being refilled promptly and empty plates removed quickly. I loved this meal, and would recommend to anyone who likes delicious pasta in a lively, bustling environment.

My husband got a chocolate chip cookie sundae, served in a big glass bowl. There are also shakes, malts, phosphates and other treats to choose from on their menu, as well as a case of homemade candies. The place isn't big and is rather crowded so we got an "eat and get out" vibe from the staff, which made me feel rushed (and who wants to hurry through ice cream?) Overall, though, Margie's has clearly been a Chicago favorite for a long time for a reason. Check them out.

They only have a couple of kid's items, but my friend requested buttered noodles for her kid rather than the cheesy noodles. I got the hibiscus drink and lavender lemonade, both non-alcoholic, and they were very good. My little one especially liked the hibiscus. And we ordered the appetizer of whipped ricotta and honey; my daughter liked this more than anything else we ordered. We didn't have dessert at the restaurant, but ordered to go. The pot of gold was really good. There were little "gold nuggets" on it and that was my daughter's favorite part; good thing since I didn't realize it had a layer with Bailey's in it. It was very rich, and the cauldron was really thick chocolate (and actually was a struggle to get into, a bit!). The restaurant is small but it didn't feel crowded. They had such a huge selection of pastries and cakes that it was honestly hard to choose. I ended up getting the cake shaped like a cherry because it looked so interesting. We also ordered the breakfast burrito, which came with a small side salad. It was fine, but not the standout for me. If I came back, which I would, I would probably stick to the pastries and coffee and try more of their baked goods instead. Service was amazing. The ambience was adorable.
