I got some acrylics done there and showed them a photo reference. With simple little lines on them nothing crazy. The man told me after I waited 30-40 minutes that he couldn't do the design so I just stuck with the colors I chose without the design. It was $30 so wasn't bad. I'm getting pretty fed up with the seeming impossibility of finding a good, consistent nail salon in the Asheville area. WHY IS IT SO HARD. WHY. Soho was ok the first couple of times I visited, though I'm generally not a fan of places that don't sanitize their equipment in those little baggies -- y'know, so you're SURE that the stuff they're using has actually been sanitized. That being said, I had a couple of decent gel polish jobs there. Nothing extraordinary. First one was good, second was ok. My third visit, however, was awful. It took almost an hour and a half for a gel mani. That is a ridiculous amount of time, and I was crawling out of my skin waiting for it to be over. The guy said it was because the bottle of gel polish was new, but that makes no sense to me. So an hour and a half and $31 later (including tip), I left. Fast forward to one day later, and I'm having to use nail glue to keep the sides of the polish in place. Then two days later, the entire polish on one nail came off altogether (see photo). Two days for the gel polish to go AWOL. What a complete and utter waste of $. I hate writing negative reviews, but I felt this one was necessary. I'm not going back for a fix because I dread sitting in that chair for who knows how long -- plus, the other nails are screwed up too, so it's not even worth it. Needless to say, I won't be going back. The search is back on for SOMEPLACE ANYPLACE that can do a good job more than once. Sigh. read more

DO NOT GO HERE, NAIL FUNGUS WARNING! I was in town visiting family two weeks ago, needed to get my nails done and made an appointment here. I had to wait 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time, had a grumpy gentleman do my pedicure and was given an "SNS fill", which surprised me because every other nail salon I've been to does a full new set with SNS. Today, one of my nails popped up and I noticed a dark spot on my nail. I proceeded to remove the rest of them in fear and came to find out I have two fingers with fungus on my nails. Relatively cheap gel mani ($25) - unfortunately mine has a lot of bubbles and inconsistency in the color since the manicurist was rushing to another customer after finishing mine. DO NOT GO HERE. the man in the very last chair is very rude and seems like he doesn't know how to do nails. he made them chunky, then he pushed my cuticle down until it bled. then i confronted him about my crooked nail and he blamed it on me. then he was being very rough while filing my nails and almost ripped my nail off with the filter and it hurt so bad! he painted over my cut cuticle and now it is infected. he blamed me for every mistake and he kept making rude remarks. this man should be fired. People were nice but the guy who did my nails cut me like 5 times at least. 3 times in my thumb, 1 on my pinky, & one on my pointer finger. If I'm paying $38 for my nails I'd rather not be cut a lot. I also wanted glitter & he acted like they had none which I'd gotten glitter at that same place the last time I got my nails done. So I went to get my nails done (something I've never done in Asheville), my roommate and I decide to go to Soho since it was right by our house and had a 4 star review. We get there and we had kinda rude service from the start. This guy tells me to sit down and pick a color so I show him a photo of what I wanted (pretty Pinterest photo). He says he can't do them quite like that but he can do it close. Midway through my manicure he made me pay (rather than paying at the end). I thought that was weird. So... he gets done and this what I got (light pink blobs). My nails were soooo horrible I complained. Well, he did them over and 1: buffed my nail so aggressively my ring finger bled. 2: They still looked like shit...not quite as bad as the first set...but still bad (rose pink). read more

I've been getting my nails done here for about a year and they always turn out perfect, they last longer than any other place I've been and the tech is very very fast. I've brought in examples of things and they even do that well. I happily drive all the way from Henderson county to get my gel here. Love them. read more

I've lived in Leicester for almost six years and Tuesday was the first time I've visited Soho Nail Spa. I don't know that it's been in Leicester as long as I have(?). When I first walked in, there were no other customers and about four of the employees were all sitting in the pedicure chairs with their feet up watching television and playing on their smart phones. I was kind of surprised the owner would allow this to be visible to the customers, but hey, it's not my salon. The girl who did my pedicure was okay. She was gentle (a huge plus as I nave been nicked a few times in nail salons), but perhaps too gentle. She did a beautiful job on my nails, but did not leave my feet as smooth as other salons have. She was also quite intent on selling me a manicure. That's likely because I was their only customer at two o'clock on a Tuesday. I refused her offer several times, explaining that I cannot wear nail polish to work and the manicure would soon be ruined because I peel my nails when I'm anxious; however, I eventually gave in and let her perform this service. I had a manicure (no polish) and a pedicure for $35, which I found reasonable. Where they lost stars from me: 1) If I say I don't want a manicure, I am truly uninterested. Yes you can wear me down, which is I'm sure, the reason she kept insisting. 2) There were no customers, yet the employees were sitting around doing nothing productive when this salon could use a cleaning. It wasn't the type of place I would feel uncomfortable getting a mani/pedi, but it could have been cleaner. read more

Meh. Disappointing. I was SUPER careful (stayed til way after the polish was dry, did almost nothing with my feet all day) and still had a chip by 7pm the same day as my mediocre pedicure. And reasonably priced. The salon got busy while I was there, but everything moved along well. (And the staff maintained keeping customers happy.) Friendly staff. Very clean salon. However I was disappointed with my nail technician. I got a gel manicure and she used too much nail polish on my nails which resulted in very lumpy looking nails, not smooth at all. Maybe you will have a different experience. I went because the ratings were higher than other salons surrounding the area of our resort. This place is awesome!!! After having a pretty gruff, unfriendly, and no-nonsense pedicure back in the autumn in Asheville, I wanted to treat myself to a good one. This place did not disappoint. I sprung for the deluxe pedi, as a birthday treat to myself, and it was 100% the best pedicure I've ever had. A nice soak and the typical nail treatment followed by a lavender sugar scrub, a lavender clay treatment, a nice (many) hot towel wrap, and a surreal leg massage with hot oily stones while my feet were receiving a paraffin treatment. The icing on the cake was the complimentary glass of wine! Plus this place is right next to the Noble Cider tasting room. Reasonably priced for what you receive - this was utterly relaxing and lasted about an hour and a half! read more

Probably one of the best manicures I've had in a while. I was the only one in my group not to get a gel manicure and I always scratch or chip it before I get out of the salon, but it's been almost a full week (which included setting up for and being a bridesmaid in a wedding) and it's only just starting to slightly chip. The staff were really nice and accommodating and took a 7 person wedding party early in the morning. Everyone was helpful, joked around, and made us feel welcome and excited for the big day. I went here to spend the afternoon with my daughters before going on a cruise. I got my toes done and a eyebrow wax. The waxing hurt so bad worse eyebrow wax pain ever. Well to say the least she waxed to low on sensitive skin leaving me with abrasions. And we won't even talk about the horrible nail chipping on my daughters nails the VERY next day. I have been a customer of Soho Nail Spa for over 7 months. I feel that I am a good customer, not picky, no complaining and I tip very well (over 20%). Whoever the young lady is in the first chair needs a lesson in customer service. As a customer for 7 months I feel when I walk in there should be some familiarity from the staff. The last 6 visits I have been pushed from chair to chair but today was the last straw. I was a walk in as usual. I totally understand if there are others with appointments they take precedence. I walked in and was "greeted" if you want to call it that by the young lady who was sitting in the waiting area playing on her phone. I stated that I needed a fill and she sat me in her chair. Then a lady came in (walk in also) for a wax, she took her back and waxed her, then another walk in came in and she started on her pedicure, a 3rd walk in came in at this point I asked how much longer and decided enough was enough. 3 walkins that arrived AFTER me that were attended to. As I started to get up little miss attitude yelled at me to sit down. NEVER EVER again will I go here nor will I refer anyone else to this salon as I have in the past. CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! You should try it. Lose your attitudes towards your customers and try not to be so rude. read more

My first visit there. I felt very unwelcome. One older gentleman kept staring at me in a very strange way that made me uncomfortable. You can tell the regulars and how they are treated differently but what if you never give new clients the chance to become "regulars"? The pricing is very reasonable. My manicure was very fast and I am happy with it. However, I saw not one thing being sanitized! I was cut on one of my fingers while having my nails filed. It started to get infected the next morning but I put a strong prescription antibiotic cream on it and stopped it quickly. It's very close and convenient but the fact that it is very unsanitary will keep me from returning. (And no WAY would I ever get a pedicure there!) No one washed their hands between clients (it was like musical chairs in there) and none of the equipment was sanitized nor were new files used. I don't know how a salon is allowed to operate like this! I wanted a nice relaxing experience and instead I was filled with anxiety the whole time I was there. read more

Well, I did it. I was treated to a nice spa by my wife. Guys, return your...ahems...to your lady folk and grin. Enjoy a wonderful treatment after a hard day at work by having a nice Asian Woman or Man take care of your feet and message your legs. Oh and if you didn't know. The Chairs you sit in rub your back and neck. So what I suggest is go help your friend move apartments or houses and then go get one. This place is great. I would go back. Because Soho Nail Spa is convenient, I've given it a second and a third try, hoping that I could find a reason to go back. And, in all fairness, they did do a decent job once. But only once. I made an appointment today for a manicure. A simple, clear polish manicure, nothing fancy. A man, who I assume was the owner, called me over right on time and hand signaled where I should go - to a sullen, unfriendly guy who indicated - again a hand signal - that I should sit down. Said "what polish" and proceeded to cut and polish my nails. No smile, no attempt at conversation. He went through the manicure routine - and used a pair of cuticle clippers he picked up out of a drawer. Ten minutes later he hand-gestured me over to the drying table. I sat for awhile and then walked out. No thank you or goodbye from any of the unhappy looking employees except the same man who had greeted me. My manicure is slightly tilted and my cuticles are pretty much just where they were when I walked in. That may be a good thing, given the condition of the clippers he used. I did see that the woman next to me seemed to have fun with her manicurist and I noticed another man spending a lot of time on what I assume was a professional pedicure. Maybe it depends on who you end up with. My advice to Soho, which I won't try again, is to educate the employees in basic customer service: a hello, a smile would help. And to wash up a bit..both themselves and their clothes. read more
