I use yelp quite a bit, but have never felt the need to write a review until today. This was the most unpleasant mani/pedi experience I have ever had in my life anywhere in the country. When I walked in I was told to follow the six year old girl to the back, who then proceeded to fill the tub. (Child labor laws anyone?) she left me there In a spa chair that didn't recline, and was completely worn on the arms and seat cushions. None of the tools were sanitized, there were flies everywhere and everything looked like it was at least ten years old. When the technician finally came back he gave me a manicure that lasted a whopping ten minutes. It was absolutely awful. I also never saw them clean out the bowls or sanitize them either. I had also wanted a manicure, but buffed, no polish. He then asked me If I wanted him to do my cuticles....I'm sorry, but isn't that a normal part of any manicure? I didn't realize that cuticles were optional. I was scared he was going to mess my nails up though and I just wanted to get out, so I told him just to file and buff. He filed both hands in four minutes total, then sanded my nails, put lotion on my hands, and told me to wash off my hands because I was finished. No buffing what so ever. At that point I just wanted to run out of there so bad I didn't even say anything! I was In and out in 20 minutes- not at all what I would call relaxing. I called and made an appointment here... I told them I could come anytime between 4 and 7 but I wasn't sure what time they closed... It was my first time and I found them online. I walked in and they took the drill out to take off my shellac from my previous manicure. I said NO. SO they then filled up a cup and told me to soak my fingers in it. It of course was very powerful stuff and not healthy. No other place has ever had me do that. SO I did and then a few people walked in and they started with manicures on them. I sat there for over 20 minutes. I ended up scraping off my own nail polish. The whole process was rushed and the woman was so rude to me. I would never go back. read more

I have been going to LA Nails for about a year now and I will NOT go anywhere else in town. Lillian and Andy are amazing. Lillian does my nails every two weeks and she always does a great job, never have I had any complaints. I usually call ahead and they can always fit me in. Their customer service is great. They know everyone by name and their prices are so reasonable. I will never go anywhere else!! read more

Went here for the first time today and it was a great experience! Andy did a great job with my nails and was very patient when I couldn't decide on a color. Good conversation and my nails turned out wonderfully. Andy asked questions every step of the way to make sure that I got exactly what I wanted. They even fixed one of my nails after I accidentally chipped it trying to get my car key out. I would definitely recommend this salon and will be going back again! read more

I have been going to Andy for many many years, he is excellent and I would recommend him highly. Clean place, everyone is very nice and friendly. They do except walk in business but I would suggest making an appointment as they are very busy salon. read more

Lilian does great job and always gives me great pedicure. but do avoid the other older lady- i could not tell if i really had pedi/mani done by pro or let my 6 year old do it when i left, all cuticles were rough plus she filed nails too thin even though i asked her not to do it ! and color job was pretty messy, had to go fix it next day by getting real manicure some place else. read more

If you go here ask for Andy he is amazing. My roomate and I have been going to him for acrylics and gels for months and he does a perfect job every time. The place is also VERY clean compared to other nail salons and prices are spot on for the quality. Make sure to make an apointment! read more

I love going to LA Nails.. I've been going for a little over 5 years now and I'm definitely an indecisive person so I'm always switching from acrylic to the gel manicure to who knows! As long as I make an appointment they always honor it and find a way to accommodate my needs no matter how busy they are. I usually go to Andy or Lily (the husband and wife of the salon). They remember my name and speak to me like they care its nice to feel acknowledged instead of ignored like the other nail salons in Portsmouth. (I've been to all of them) read more

I had a really hard time finding a nail place in the area that I liked, and this one was finally the one that I became a repeat customer for. I've only gotten shellac manicures here, but every time they have done a great job, the nails lasted at least 2 weeks. They are very friendly too. They aren't a lavish place, no spa luxury, but great place for a quick manicure that will last. read more

So I decided to get a mani/pedi this week and had been looking forward to soaking my feet all week. I decided to go to LA Nails in Portsmouth, NH, because the reviews seemed pretty fare. I am a recent transplant from Texas and we have tons of nail salons in our big cities, so options are endless. Because of this fact, many shops have to do an amazing job for repeat business. I am use to pedicures that last at a minimum an hour with a 30 minute massage and all for $30. This was not expectation in New England. I expected a very quick pedi with the minimum massage, and that was going to be OK as long as I was able to soak a while before. So I walk into LA Nails today around 1:00 pm and the place was empty with the exception of the employees and one girl who appeared to be about 12 getting her nails painted. No big deal, the less of a crowd the more quiet and relaxing. So immediately I am asked to pick a color, which I have my own, and I ask the kind gentleman there about the difference between the deluxe pedi $45 and the regular $25? The deluxe sounds good, but considering this is my first time there, I wanted to make sure it was something I would want to go back to. I passed on the deluxe and opted for the regular. I get to the back and there were two ladies lounging in the chairs, employees, and they quickly prepared a place for me. I asked as I was taking my shoes off, if I could soak for about 15 minutes before beginning and the younger of the two said that I could soak one foot, while she was working on the other. I explained that I wanted to soak them both at the same time before I started at all, and she proceeded to tell me that they couldn't do that because they had other clients. I said "Really, where? This place looks pretty empty to me.." She said nothing , just stared. So at that point I thought why am I getting resistance from a place that wants my money and me as a customer. There are no other clients and what harm would come to them by allowing me to soak for 15 minutes undisturbed before I begin my much deserved indulgence? I came to the conclusion that they would rather move people through their doors as quick as possible, and didn't want to take the time to make long term customers. So I told apologized to the older lady, who would have been doing my pedi went to the front and explained to the younger girl with the attitude that I would be leaving to find another place. She told me that was my choice and I agreed. I explained to her that as a customer I should be able to soak and if I was going to get that much flack about it then I would take my business elsewhere. Very poor customer service on their part and I truly see that the customer is not what is important to them. At this point I just wanted to get my feet soaked and make them somewhat presentable for summer time sandals, until I could get to Boston. I decided to go to WalMart and try Davi Nails. What an experience. They were friendly and welcoming. When I asked them if I could soak for about 15 minutes before starting, they said no problem. Nancy did my mani/pedi and did an amazing job. For the price of the deluxe $45, I got both my nails and toes done. I only had $15 extra in cash and she got all of it. If I had a $20, she would have gotten that. She was really worth every penny! I will definitely be going back there again soon! read more
