For me to file a complaint is so incredibly rare on anything or anyone. I have been going tanning at your salons for almost 20 years an I have never encountered an employee that was so incredibly rude in all that time. For over 10 years, I have been going to your 760 W Waveland Ave · 60613 location as I have lived 1 block from the place. Normally, I am in and out within 20min. 1st encounter with this employee was Thursday August 31, 2023 for a cocktail session when I went during my lunch break which is 1 hour. I got their at 1pm and no one was even there. It took this employee over an hour to get me in. I had never seen anything like that in my life. I kept asking what the issue was and the excuse was that the system is slow and honestly in 10 years i have never seen an employee even remotely take that long, as I don't believe he knows what he doing, as you can check your cameras. This last encounter with him was today 11/16/2023 just now as I got there at around 1:33 and this time it was a bit faster as it took him 25 min to get me in, again no one was there either. On Thursdays, you guys have a special for any level bed with a spray tan starting at level 1 for $25. He told me that level 3 bed is the highest i can go and have been going almost weekly and choosing level 6bed and if choosing level higher for spray tan then 1 there is an upcharge. I decided to drop the bed level issue and proceed with 3 but for spray tan I specifically asked for Malibu Level 2. When going in to the spray tan, I had come up front to confirm level 2 malibu and to ask which room, in which he said yes. As I went into my session, over the announcement it says Clear to my surprise which I did not ask for as I asked for malibu initially and again to confirm malibu level 2 after the laydown was completed. I go upfront to confront him to say I asked malibu and the announcement said clear and I have done malibu many times and what i received was clear and not even sure which level as I can only assume 1. His response to me was to tell me I am rude and incorrect and that he wants to call cops and picked up his phone to call on me and ban me. He even refused to give me his name and was kicking me out and trying to call the cops. I walked out at 2:20 pm, please check your camera. I have never encountered an employee so incredibly rude in all my time and not on 1 occasion but now on 2 occasions same employee. I never bad-review anyone or have issues with anyone there. This employee who started yelling at me for no reason and that I am wrong. needs to be fired an let go. I need management/owner to contact me as I am speechless. Your employees are usually wonderful and i have no words on how rude, and incompetent he is as, coming from as my current job role is a director of customer experience. WOW!!!!!! Since that encounter with him 8/31/2023, initially, i was even going to a different location after that and to run into him again with another ssue. You will lose your customers if you let this employee in his position and he needs to be let go. I need the owner/management to contact me as it's baffling as I did not receive the service I paid for nor have been treated so poorly in my life, and for him to start yelling at me is insane for no reason at all and trying to call the cops. Manager is SUPER rude!!! Did not even say hello when I walked in just stared at me with a straight face and rolled her eyes until I told her my last name and first name on my own. When I walked out I said thank you but no response. I've been to this location 2 times and both times were super unpleasant and made me feel uncomfortable. LA Tan, has a deal for Sunday's for $5 upgrade to any level. I usually go on my days off and I was very upset and disappointed to notice that it was 12:38pm and the sign said open and door was locked. No sign of coming back or that they left to use restroom or nothing, I waited for 30min outside with my sister and still no signs of an employee. Called the Fullerton location and I know they are not associated together but to see what was going on. I didn't want to drive to another LA Tan because this is 5 min my house. I have an event tomorrow and I needed to have a color set for our engagement party. read more

I like this place a lot. You wouldn't think on weekends it would be easy to get a bed but I've never really had any problems. I usually opt for a level 2 bed because the bulbs are newer (from what I'm told) It used to be the case that employees would ask you to buy lotion every single time walked in but I've noticed a big change for the better in this area. read more

Tonight I decided to head down to your tanning salon where I knew I'd have plenty of time to fit a 10 minute tan in. However, when I got to the already locked door a little after 5:30pm, a young woman unlocked the door to peak her head out to tell me you have new hours. Well first of all, your website says you're open until 6pm on Sunday. 2. It's January 13th, so you should be open. Even if those rules which she was instructing me were true, the salon should still be open. I was perplexed because I walked 30 minutes to get there. Then I realized, no. I'm a loyal customer. I have $150 to spend at LA Tan, and now the closest one to me doesn't even want my business. Or you really need to be aware that your staff is closing early. When I went back to take the picture, your employee tried to backtrack and say she could start the spray tan machine up, after the fact she already told me the systems were down, and even started to get attitude. LA tan and I have 4 more tans then our business relationship is over. Today I was finally able to meet the new Not so friendly manager. (There was talk among the staff about her.) Some needs to remind her she's working in the customer service industry. She is replaceable. Nevertheless, my recommendation is go around the corner to Halstead Tan. I changed over a year or so ago when LA Tan had great deals and the staff was actually glad to see you, not ready to scold you! DO NOT GO HERE! 1 star was too many in this scenario. The girl at the front desk was less than helpful and seemed to be annoyed that she had to do her job. I came in hoping to do the cocktail (bed tan and spray tan). The bed was disgusting and dirty, I didn't even fully lay down. And as for the spray tan, well this is where things took a turn for the worst. She told me they didn't have any caps to cover my hair and suggested I use one of the ones in the garbage can that people before me had used. She ended up giving me a plastic bag from the back room. There was spray tan residue all over the floor and rug and clearly neither had been cleaned in a while. As I step into the machine I notice someone's old used sticker stuck to the bottom of the machine. EW! Needless to say I will never be back to this location and am calling tomorrow to get a full refund. read more

Some situations require a tan. Okay, that statement is as fake as the tan! But, $10 Mystic Tan Mondays? Just too difficult to ignore. You'll get better results with a manual 'designer' application but for $10? It's a steal. Just make sure to slather your feet and cuticles with the barrier lotion. I'm talking an obscene amount, or else you'll end up with uber-bronzed feet. After you exit the spray tan booth, rub yourself vigorously with a towel. Don't worry, you won't interfere with your blossoming tan. I didn't see baby wipes here, but they're the best for going over your fingernails, toenails and cuticles. I always bring a travel pack of 'em! I didn't get any instructions so please heed my advice! Again, it's not perfection but it is only $10 and should last a full 3-4 days before gracefully fading out. read more

Sigh. I really wish this location was better because it's the closest one to my apartment. I've been going there for over a year just for the sheer convenience, but it's awful. I've never had problems with the beds working, but it's the attitude of the staff that makes this location truly off putting. I don't know if I missed some memo that stated that working at LA Tan was some huge badge of honor, because I can't seem to understand why these staff members feel that their pompous attitudes are warranted. The worst offender is the blonde girl with the facial piercing who works the front desk. She is often very reluctant to give me advice on new products and if I question anything she says I'm greeted with a not so discreet eye roll. Admittedly, I don't work in sales, but I consider being pleasant to a customer who has money to spend to be relative common sense. I usually use that 10 minutes in the booth to relax and unwind over the day. I definitely don't come to be aggravated and insulted by the staff. Probably the rudest staff I have ever dealt with. Girls with attitude who would rather be chatting with their friends in the lobby than dealing with customers. Your at work...not social hour at the local bar. As soon as I finished the ridiculously overpriced package (that was sold to me under false pretenses) that I purchased for inferior beds...I mean bad beds that I don't think they change out. Never ever get a spray/mystic tan here. I had been going to Palm Beach tan and they were fantastic, just pricy. I heard LA tan was 4 for $44, so I tried it yesterday. FIRST, the girl had NO idea what she was doing. She set me up (so I got ready in the room, put on the shower cap, etc.) and the machine didn't work. I called for help at the door but nobody came, so I had to get dressed again and go out to find her. She apologized and turned it on. I made certain to ask her to do the clear mist (not the one with bronzer). She said they only had one and it was clear. Well, after getting sprayed, I was covered in brown goopy stuff. After wiping off, I still ruined a pair of pants and a shirt. This morning, I am streaky everywhere and it looks like a spray-tan accident you would see in a movie. I don't think they are using the real Mystic Tan product they claim to be using. I called this morning to inquire about how to get a refund, and their mailbox is full! What retail location lets their mailbox get full? I am appalled! read more

The staff here is close to terrible. Almost every time I go in, it's the same girl who I'm sure means well but has the customer service skills of a napkin. They are constantly on the phone with friends, and not overly helpful. I never received the "upgrade credit" that I was supposed to after unfreezing my account. And there are never towels in the "cleaned" rooms. Also probably 80% of the time I go, at least one of the face lamps are out. Update: I've been going out of my way to go to the better LA tan down on Broadway because this place is so horrific. The girl there asked if I would like to use the "upgrade credit" that I had been complaining about at the other store. The counter staff are nice and great to greet you; however, this place is a scam by management. I froze my membership in Dec. 2009, but they kept debiting my credit card each month until I noticed it in spring 2010. Phone calls with staff showed the "freeze" was in their computer correctly but they had a billing issue they would correct and credit. Never happened. I personally went there this summer and was told the manager Angie would look into it. Three months later.. no credit for the six months of debits, no reply from Angie (although I hear from a clerk that Angie had a great vacation in Florida in August) and no apology! read more

Throughout the year I have seen this establishment go through more managers than I can count, all with the same complaint of the owner. Some not even lasting two weeks in the position... however tonight the woman was unpleased that I walked in after 9 and she was not friendly at all. I can't get a callback from corporate to take care of the three months worth of charges that I didn't use their facility. L.A. Tan on Waveland does not think about their customer or clientele. I had a tanning membership with L.A.Tan and due to their management have decided to cancel. The membership was charged in full before the global pandemic shut-down, and therefore not being able to use the service charged. Upon reopening, I was charged again for the full amount of the membership without a notice of reopening. When asking for a refund of membership charged and to cancel membership; I was told they had to ask the manager. When contacting the manager and corporate, I was told that the manager/owner does not do refunds and that I could cancel. With the way they have handled the situation, I will not be returning. This behavior shows the greed that is displayed in management and not the appreciation for the clientele. I would not recommend. read more

LA Tan Waveland is an exemplary example of bad customer service. Possibly the worst experience I've had in any business. What happened to us potentially borders on theft or fraud. This place is a train wreck. When I walked in, I shared with the receptionist (who was more appropriately dressed for Excalibur than well... really any public place during daylight hours) that I just needed a few quick tans to even out my skin tone for an upcoming wedding. I look around and see that no pricing information is published anywhere. The receptionist then tells me that I need their super deluxe triple platinum package (or some such nonsense) for the low, low price of $150. Admittedly, it's been a few years since my last visit to a tanning salon, but last I remembered, you could get a month of unlimited tanning for $20. I tell the girl, again, that I am looking for the most basic, inexpensive package they have. She suggests another package for $120. I push back again. She suggests another package for $85. At this point I'm pretty pissed and I tell her I would like to know what is the absolute, least amount of money I can possibly spend on a tanning package is and she comes back with a $50 package. So to recap, no prices published anywhere. Initial quote $150. Final offer $50. After we've decided on a package she starts pushing her tanning lotions on me. I tell her I'm not interested. She begins berating me about how I how I am only getting half the value of my tanning session without using a tanning accelerant. I kindly point out to her that I have extremely fair skin and am not interested in accelerating anything. She then huffs and puffs and says "Well, if you want your skin to dry up and peel and get all wrinkly, I guess that's up to you." Thank you for that. Still not interested in your lotions. Let's move on. She asks how long I would like to go in for. I ask what is the minimum amount of time I can go in for and still get some color. She says, "The most you can go in for is 10 minutes." I say, "thank you" and again remind her that I am asking what the least - which is the opposite of most - amount of time she would recommend. We settle on a number. I get my tan. I will not be tanning here again. And if I were you, I wouldn't either. -They don't publish their prices in the store or online -Their staff is incredibly rude -Their equipment is old -And I am fairly confident their idea of sanitizing a room is different than mine read more

I bought some sort of package and when I have returned to use it I found that the bed were all busy or I could pay "extra" for some otherbed or they were closed for remodeling or the line and wiat was too long. Went yesterday and was determined to wait since I had purchased a package. Girl at desk informed me that my "tanning dollars" had expired. No one ever made it clear to me that the package would expire. I just found that this place was very difficult and tried to keep getting more money out of you.
