TL;DR/The Short Version: Cute bakery in Griffintown. Cheese Croissant was legit. Their Chocolate Swiss Bread was good too. The Slightly Longer Version: The name of this bakery, L'Amour du Pain, gives me a chuckle. It translates to The Love of Bread, but since I'm an Anglophone I always think of it as The Love of Pain, lol. Luckily, the pastries here give me joy and not pain. The cheese croissant (croissant au fromage) ($4.25) here is delicious. Very flakey and buttery with nice cheese flavour. I had Chocolate Swiss Bread (Pain Suisse au Chocolat $4.95) here for the first time and also enjoyed it. It's like a long flatter croissant with vanilla custard and chocolate chips inside. If you're craving some carbs on the weekend, you might encounter a bit of a line. I visited Sunday morning before 9am and we were 6 people waiting in line but no worries the line moves quite fast as service is also quite fast. I noticed waiting in front of the store and saw their May monthly specials so I decided to try the apple pastry and that was a real win! Yummy custard, crisply baked apple slices wrapped in a pastry and topped with toasted almond clusters and dusted all over with icing sugar. Loved it!! Tried the chocolatine and on the outside looks huge!! It's actually just air lol (see cross section photo). It was alright. Finally I picked up a spinach quiche. Toasted it up a bit in the oven to warm it up. It's simply made with a good amount of spinach on top. The quiche has a strong spinach flavor and the egg portion was just a bit salty for me. How did I not go to this bakery sooner? It's so close to us but I've been obsessed with another neighborhood spot. Stopped by to pick up some sandwiches and treats to go to a nearby park. I will definitely return to enjoy the space. Lots of natural light and seems like a good space to do some work. Kinda small though so finding a seat might be a problem. Croissant sandwich was great. Also enjoyed their turkey sandwich which was on a softer bread (maybe brioche?) so totally kid friendly. I like how their chocolate croissants actually look like regular croissants, except with alternating cocoa stripes/rings around them. And their latte was great. I love this bakery! It's my favourite, and it's so close to where I live. Everything is just amazing: bread, desserts, sandwiches, etc. I have a few favourites: baguette with sun dried tomatoes, mushroom sandwich and chicken sandwich. Must try items! So happy they're open again! And they are doing a really good job of maintaining the distance between people and following the covid protocols. Only two customers allowed inside at a time. read more

There are lots of bakeries in Montreal and the competition is very high when it comes to good quality of products while maintaining competitive prices. L'Amour du pain opened few months ago in that area, and I would recommend it. I tried all their croissants and my favorite are the almond and chocolatine. In my opinion, a good bakery will make you come back for their croissant nature/plain. This isn't the case. They do not have a proper coffee machine. So don't expect a good fresh coffee. I once tried a tarte au citron, wasn't my favorite. They also sell pizza dough, but you will need to order it ahead of time as quantities are limited. The bakery is located in downtown. They have great and tasty bread with reasonable prices. I would say that their staff was very polite to me even though I don't speak French, they helped me choose and decide on what bread I would take home, so thank to the staff! Love this bakery, we have to stop by every time we visit Montreal. They have so many varieties of breads, desserts, sausages, pâté, spreads, cheeses and sandwiches. Their almonds croissants, chocolate croissants , butter croissants , baguettes, Pate and sandwiches to die for. Crispy but soft inside. We even got so many snacks for our road trip. Delicious! Stopped in for a hot chocolate and pain au chocolat. Everything was fantastic. The hot chocolate wasn't overly sweet, which I enjoyed. I hate when hot chocolate tastes more like sugar than chocolate. The pain au chocolat was perfect and flaky. Yum! read more

Great little spot I happened upon while walking through this up and coming neighborhood. Had a wonderful warmed-up traditional French sandwich paired with an eclair. Lots of baked goods to choose from, so I added a brownie for my plane ride home to Iowa. Coffee on nitro was an added plus for cold-brew fans! read more

The bread is really good and fresh. I've never eaten in there, but the ambiance is great. Only drawback is that the menu is small.
