Let's see, what can I say that hasn't already been said...nothing. It's amazing. Get the falafel wrap, spicy, to go and take it to Place des Vosges and eat it in the park. You can eat here late night as well - grab a table and order one of the plates. We got the shawarma and falafel plates and both were great. The plates were big and super filling. This is the 53rd and 6th halal cart of Paris. If you don't know what I'm talking about, make your way to the next review. White sauce: the sauce has a more sophisticated tahini flavor, but the halal guys white sauce is notoriously addictive and wins out here. Red sauce: mild and complex, this is hands down better than the unnecessarily spicy halal guys red. Meat: leave the falafel for vegetarians and tourists... If you want a real meal you're going for the meat option. The only meat option is the lamb/Turkey mix. The meat is sliced thinly and seasoned with something resembling curry. However, the ratio is heavy on the turkey to the detriment of the sandwich. Halal guys win again with more generous lamb options and a stronger seasoning. Veggies: more interesting and flavorful than the halal guys iceberg lettuce. Platter vs. pita: The pita sandwich has a flaw: the sauce is applied at the top and cannot be easily distributed to the rest of the sandwich. The platter enables much better control of sauce distribution, and we all know the sauce is very important. Conclusion: l'as du falafel has higher quality ingredients all around, but falls short of its potential due to two key flaws. (1) The lamb to Turkey ratio is too heavy on the turkey, which leads to a dryer less flavorful sandwich. (2) The sauce is applied to the top of the pita sandwich and therefore does not get distributed to the entirety of the sandwich as is possible with a platter. The best fallafel I have ever had in my entire life. Seriously, life changing street food. The take out window moves really quickly, so don't be scared. They turn out a fallafel every 15 seconds so no worries. The line to actually get seated seemed like not a great idea, and besides, this was easy walk and eat food. This whole neighborhood has about 5 fallafel places, and this was the ONLY one with a constant line at least a dozen deep at all times. Additionally, this appears to be the only kosher spot as well, as they were closed the following few days for a holiday and the sabbath. Great fallafel balls, not too big or dry, the cabbage and veggies were super fresh - I suggest getting the spicy version which has a spoonful of chili paste on top. As a side note, I did get hungry for fallafel again on a Friday night (we were staying in the Marais nearby) and did get a competitors offering and while it was ok, it just was not as good as L'As du Fallafel. I am missing a lot of things from our trip to France and this place is super high up on the list. You should go there. read more

I'd like to think growing up in Queens, NY I had a refined taste for this quick street food and didn't think straying from tradition would work. Well this spot is not your average falafel and it is way above average in perfection. There are two lines in front of the store, one for dine-in and takeout. Both lines were huge but the takeout line moved fairly quickly and a employee was taking orders and payment while you waited. The day we were there their credit card machine was on the fritz so cash is still king here. We waited and listened to the conversation behind us and as tourists asked for the recommendation, every time the Falafel was the winner. You give the paid slip to the front counter and add if you'd like spicy or not. I'd definitely go with the spicy because it's not overwhelming sauce and there isn't much of it. I was handed the largest falafel ever with a fork jammed in. This falafel had cabbage, tahini, cucumbers, eggplant, CHEESE, and of course their famous falafels. The falafels were worth the hype, with the crispy outside and softness inside. The flavors all blended very well and it was extremely filling. 2 falafels and a water bottle cost 15 euros. As we walked and ate every corner we saw people doing the same. There isn't any seating around so we just walked back to our hotel with the falafels in our hands. I would highly recommend stopping by here if in the area or even going out of your way.
