I was desperate to find a place that would be willing to fix the patchy orange mess that it turned into. I called Ruby 6 in the hope that I could make an appointment. Lisa Harrington gave me a call and generously offered to have me come in immediately. After taking a good look at my hair, she explained to me exactly what she had in mind to fix the mess I created for myself. I had previously been turned down at another Salon who said it was a lost cause. Lisa got to work and the result exceeded my expectations. I was ready to have someone fix it as much as they could and expected a result that wouldn't be perfect but would be at least be a little better than what it had become. Lisa's work turned out AMAZING. She is the friendliest person and I could tell she knew what she was doing. My hair is now completely fixed and feels healthier than it had been. My hair is a bit of a challenge to work with for multiple reasons, and Lisa is the only colorist who has ever made me feel confident that she knows what she's talking about and knows how to troubleshoot complicated situations. I've been seeing her this year during Covid, and feel completely confident that she's following all of the guidelines to keep customers safe -- the salon is clean and well-kept, there's plenty of space for people to maintain their distance from each other, and appointments are staggered to keep too many people from being in the salon at the same time.

My hair isn't easy to work with, and many stylists in the past have failed to meet my expectations as a result. I came in knowing what lightness and tone I wanted (Goldwell, beige pearl/beige ash). Instead of telling me that she couldn't get me that light in one sitting (which is what I expected to hear since it's the response I usually get with someone new to my hair), Arielle said let's do it and started working on my hair after the consultation. Arielle absolutely nailed it and gave me even more than what I was looking for - my confidence back! I didn't add a blowout to my service as I knew my salon visits were always very long (5 hours on average) and I wasn't planning on doing anything but roll around on my couch for the rest of the day. She wanted to give me one anyway - probably because my hair just looked too good not to style and photograph! I've since moved after my first visit with Arielle. If I were still local, I would 100% continue to see Arielle. Since seeing her, I've never been fully satisfied with my balayage at other salons and with different stylists. Very unhappy and the bangs are choppy the left side doesn't match the right side and it was $21 + $5 tip. there was no technique in the haircut it was just a choppy angle cut, she originally wanted it shorter but after seeing the results she thought it was best to keep it long so avoid any more mistakes. some pieces are way longer/ shorter than other pieces lesson learned do not go to a new stylist to get bang trim, although its just bang trim, it still requires technique and skills.

The salon is centrally located, cute, clean, and friendly. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age or style. The other stylists seem super talented and leave looking amazing and happy. BUT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT CARLY. Carly is like a haircutting Angel. not only is she one of the most talented and dedicated stylists and colorists I've ever been to, but she is just truly a delight to be around. I look forward to our appointments like I look forward to happy hour with an old friend. She is warm, communicative, interesting, and I always leave feeling amazing. I mean she was great at cutting ,perming, sewing, you name it she was great at it! The problem with Sabrina is that she is unreliable, a bit confrontational, and she is the slowest working stylist that my friends and I have ever come across. Sabrina takes years to do your hair, she is never on time for appointments and if you are lucky enough that she is already at the salon for your appointment, be prepared for your whole day to be taken up with her talking on the phone, texting ,eating, taking her sweet time to finish your hair. I mean she really works slow, and this is from years of experience, and I know about 10 people that once went to Sabrina but all of them stopped because she lacked professionalism. In addition to that she chooses to go up and down on prices whenever she pleases. One week you could pay $85 and the next week you will pay $100 , for the exact hair style, and she just decides it whenever she pleases. Sabrina is a great stylist and I would never take that away from her but she is not worth the money and time being that there are a million other great stylist in that salon and in new york that don't take forever to do your hair and won't go up and down on prices just because they feel like it.
