Wonderful experience at this new restaurant in Livermore. Charming interior. Where we sat was a little niche right inside the front door, a perfect spot for our party of four. My Ruby Drop cocktail was great. All our dishes were flavorful. You could tell the restaurant had a talented chef, as all the dishes were presented well. The patatas had a sauce with a nice kick. The fried calamari was notably great with a cornmeal dusting, nice and crispy. The albondigas were delicious, nice sauce. The croquetas were also very good, nice crispy coating. The chicken paella was good, although it was different than what I'd had before, so maybe I'd never had a real authentic paella before, I don't know. The churros for dessert with the Guittard chocolate dip were fantastic. We definitely needed either more churros or a spoon to dole out more of the chocolate. We ended up using one of our other spoons and cleaned out that little bowl! Excellent meal with a great restaurant atmosphere.

I am one of those people that can cook well so I am VERY picky when I choose to go out and eat. Absolutely incredible food and service and had great music playing! I came here on a work lunch break and was SO happy I did. Highly recommend! They switched out the menu this morning. I got the grilled octopus, arugula salad, jamon croquettes and the potato "marbles".

L Campos is one of our favorites for Spanish Tapas. As a tapas place food comes out as it is ready. So if you like sharing, as we do, this gives you and your guests time to talk and enjoy each other. Sadly, the ordering system doesn't seem to be setup to sequence the food as requested. All in all the, place has nice indoor and outdoor seating in downtown Livermore. There is a new parking structure to help with parking. Next time we will ask server for guidance on appetizers with different flavor profiles so we don't end up with too many things tasting the same. Give them a try.

L Campo: Upscale Vibes with Room for Culinary Improvement! We visited L Campo in downtown Livermore for a Friday lunch. The restaurant is beautifully situated, featuring lovely floral arrangements outside and a very pleasant, upscale atmosphere inside. We had no trouble finding seating, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The Starters Since we were eyeing the paella (which takes about 30 minutes to prep), we kicked things off with some appetizers: * Arugula Salad: This was the highlight of the meal! The goat cheese was fantastic, and the glazed pears added a perfect sweetness. Highly recommended if you want something fresh. * Bread & Butter: The bread arrived warm, though the crust was a bit on the harder side. However, the butter was at a perfect temperature--nice and easy to spread. The Mains For our main courses, we opted for the Chicken Paella and the Lamb Shank. Unfortunately, both dishes fell a bit flat for us: * Chicken Paella: While the presentation was fine, the flavors weren't particularly extraordinary or special. * Lamb Shank: Similar to the paella, it was "just okay." Having tried various Spanish spots across the East Bay, we felt the quality of these specific dishes didn't quite justify the higher price tag. The Verdict: L Campo has the ambiance and the service down perfectly, but the kitchen felt like it might have been having an "off" day during our visit. Given their strong overall ratings, we'd be open to returning to try different menu items, but we'll likely skip the paella and lamb shank next time.

Overall we had a nice dinner at L Campo. We visited on a busy Sunday evening and managed to get the last table outside. The weather was nice so this wasn't too bad. The inside of the restaurant is lovely, but even with the open layout it was quite packed. Our server was Duda, she was very nice and had recommendations for us on the menu. Some of the items we ordered were a hit or miss, hence the 3 stars. -aged jamon iberico was delicious, but 5 slices of meat and only 4 pieces of bread? -fried calamari was too salty -l campo paella - the chicken was good but overall the dish was under flavored and the only vegetable was big chunks of green bell pepper -churros for dessert were quite messy and very small pieces for the price We'd like to give this restaurant another chance in the future because they have a vast menu with more to try, plus the service and ambiance is nice. I hope they can improve on the flavor aspect of the dishes.

This was my first visit, and The Wife's second. We didn't have any mains or paellla, but we're interested in the mushroom and shallot vegetarian option. So we had a few tapas, which is not unusual. I started with a "Smokey and Famous" which is a mezcal powered version of a naked and famous, my favorite cocktail. There was a smoke bubble on top of the glass when it was delivered - fun! For food, we ordered bread and butter, an arugula salad, vegetable croquettes, a Spanish tortilla (which has no tortillas in it, as they helpfully mention when you order). Later we had churrosndor dessert. I could have had another drink from a large choice of whiskys or wines, as well as digestives, but budget was a factor for now. The service was very quick, almost too fast. We arrived before 5 on a Friday evening, and seating was no problem. Very friendly staff. Someone checked with us near the end, either a manager or owner or both, to see if we had any concerns. We did not. L Campo is part of the upscaling of Livermore food options, started by Range Life, and continued by places like Wingen. Older establishments that have skated by need to look over their shoulder at places like this.

We were sat right next to the kitchen at a very intimate table for 2. Even though we were close to the action, it wasn't bothersome. Our server was amazing and checked on us pretty consistently which we appreciated. The little conitos were amazing for an hors d'oeuvre type bite. The other two small plates were not very special: the tostada type dish with the anchovy was just ok and the patatas bravas were soggy cubed potatoes versus fried. We enjoyed our main dish, the Valenciana paella! Our server offered us a few sauce choices and it was tender, rice was al dente, and so flavorful. I loved our cocktails and the CA almond cake was AMAZING!! It was so light and didn't put my tummy in overload. Thanks L Campo!

Was happy to see a more upscale restaurant in Downtown Livermore. I've been here twice and both times it was busy. Host wasn't as welcoming, bartender was great, server was great. They don't take reservations, just walk ins. And they have a lot of tables either. The restaurant however is very cute and chic. Great place to have a cocktail and small bites. Definitely wouldn't recommend coming here hungry. We had to wait over 45 mins to get a table on a Saturday night around 8pm so by the time we sat we were starving. Since it's mainly tapas (small plates), we left hungry still. But the food was good at least. Anchovie toast: 8/10 Calamari: 8/10 Grilled beef: 9/10 Grilled octopus: 10/10 Grilled chorizo: 8/10 Seafood paella: 10/10 I would come back, but on a half full belly.

This restaurant was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious. Our waiter was very helpful and encouraging the music in the background and the ambience was amazing. My wife and I had a great time here. Aske for Eric our waiter!!

My Cousin and I ventured out to downtown Livermore last Thursday and she found this restaurant on Yelp! The service was on point. It's a very nice intimate restaurant. The selections of food are great portions even some items that allow servings for two people. The prices are I would say a little above moderate but well worth the price due to the quality of the food. This is a great place for a date or a ladies night or even a mini family dinner.

We were invited to a belated birthday dinner. We looked forward to a wonderful Spanish meal of Tapas and Paella. L Campo does not take reservations and seating is first come, first served. We were seated outside. At first, I was concerned that it might get cold because I didn't see any heaters and I had left my jacket in my car. We lucked out because the weather held and there was no wind. Menus were presented and we were asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. We got the bubbly stuff and one of us ordered a Coke. We verified with our server, Duda, that one Tapa and two Entrees would be the right amount of food. Heirloom Tomato Toast - 3 - It was fine, but we were comparing it to a Tomate con Pan that we had had in London a couple of years ago. That one was made with toasted homemade bread, rubbed with fresh garlic, then rubbed with ripe tomatoes imported from Barcelona and drizzled with olive oil. Patatas Bravas - 2 - In a Chinese restaurant, one can expect differences in flavors and textures from dishes with the same name because of regional ingredients. There's no reason for this to be different in Spanish food. I prefer "dry" potatoes served with an Aioli and/or a Bravas Sauce. This one was too wet with Bravas Sauce and the Aioli Sauce was only served after we were asked if we wanted it. 12+ Month Jamon Serrano - 5 - Perfectly yummy. 24+ Month Jamon Iberico - 5 - Even yummier. We had experienced both meats in Barcelona but our hosts had not. I asked if we could possibly order a split plate and pay the difference but alas it was not possible because these items were portioned in advance. These Jamons come from different breeds of pigs raised on different diets. Compared side by side, you can choose your preference based on flavor and texture. Baked Cauliflower with Romesco Sauce - 4 - Was good. There are so many variations that I can't decide what style of Romesco Sauce I prefer. I think that next time, I'll order the sauce on the side so I can decide how much to use. 48-Hour Beef Short Ribs - 5 - I'm not sure that Beef served without the bone can technically be called a Short Rib even if it's the meat from between the bones. However, the beef is delicious. Even more delicious is the broth and Spanish Beans that come along in the pan. Be sure to order Bread and Butter to go with it. The Bread will also come with Olive Oil but it's really not needed. Spread some of the soft butter on the bread and then spoon some sauce and a bean onto the bread. You can even add a shred or two of the beef if you want to go crazy. Seafood Paella - 5 - Although the rice was lacking the Socarrat that we were expecting, the flavor of the rice was phenomenal. When we placed the order, we were asked how we wanted the rice, I said crispy. Duda offered Crispy or Extra Crispy. I then asked for Extra Crispy. When done correctly, the rice cooks to the bottom of the pan and provides an extra bit of texture and flavor without being burned. What was served barely stuck to the pan. Zero Socarrat. Very disappointing, especially since we had been asked how we wanted it. Churros - 4 - Two of us ordered Churros for dessert. They were out of Milk Chocolate so we both got the "Dark" Chocolate. The flavor of the Churros was good. These were skinny Churros, and I prefer fat Churros because there's more of the soft center, which the Chocolate Sauce seems to adhere to better. In Barcelona, the Dark Chocolate Sauce was much darker and substantially thicker, almost like a chocolate pudding. If you tipped the container, it would move slowly like lava. Cheese Flan with Housemade Jam (Covserve?) and Cream - 4 - Good flavors. Baked Rice Pudding - 4 - I found it interesting to have a rice pudding that didn't seem to be made up of grains of rice. I looked it up online and discovered that rice pudding sometimes doesn't even contain rice although some may grind the rice into powder before cooking for a smoother texture. This is a new concept for me and I'm going to have to try it again. Flavor wise, it was good.

Fun spot for a girls night out or date night! Arrived on a Saturday just after 7, and were lucky to snag two bar stools as a couple was just leaving. Otherwise, if you're not feeling as lucky it seemed like you definitely should either make a reservation or plan ahead for a bit of a wait. Seating is limited, but that adds to the ambiance of your experience! Tables in the back of the restaurant overlook the kitchen. Tables closer to the front overlook First St. Either way, there isn't a bad seat in the house. My friend and I ordered four tapas and one paella, it was enough to feed a party twice our size and the bill came to $150 (we also each had one drink). Tapas: Peppers: I would skip. No flavor. Meatballs: Must order! Huge amount of meatballs (I believe there were ten); I wish you could do a half order! Coquettes: If you only order one tapas, this must be it! DELICIOUS. Bravas: I have had better elsewhere, but it isn't bad! Chicken paella: I wouldn't come back for the paella as I've had better elsewhere, but it is good! I wish it was crispier with strong seasoning, but the amount of cilantro was a little... much... and maybe the distracted from the seasoning. The winner of the night: the cocktails are DELICIOUS. The spicy margarita is legitimately a jalapeño infused tequila, and it's SPICY without needing a spicy rim. Love!!

Great dishes and great environment. My partner and I came on a Sunday and were seated at the bar, we loved the drinks and all the dishes we tried. Will be back.

Came to The Hangar for an early Mother's Day dinner with the family (we celebrate Saturday instead…read moreof Sunday) and this was hands down one of the WORST restaurant experiences we've ever had. First off, this is NOT on the staff working. We genuinely felt bad for them. Management thought it was a good idea to schedule ONE bartender and ONE server on a packed Saturday night. The entire place was chaotic, customers were visibly irritated, TVs throughout the restaurant stopped working, and the poor employees were drowning trying to keep up. The stress was palpable that made the experience stressful and not enjoyable. Absolute management failure. At one point I used their self-pour beer wall and poured myself half a Modelo only for it to come out warm I was able to find another beer that was actually cold... but still charged for the warm one. The food was somehow even worse. We ordered the barbacoa nachos, wedge salad, and a kids burger with fries. The kids burger was the only edible thing. The wedge salad was drowning in ranch like someone emptied the whole bottle on it. Tomatoes tasted old and gross. Then came the nachos... tiny portion, bland chips, barely any cheese, no mango salsa like the menu claimed, and the "barbacoa" -- if you could even call it that -- was tough, fatty, and completely inedible. $74 later for one appetizer, one salad, one kids meal, and 1 1/2 beers. We only tipped because we felt bad for the server. We will NEVER be back. Thanks for ruining our Mother's Day dinner.

A Decent Downtown Spot with Great Salmon but Slow Service…read more We came to Maple Street Eatery, located at the end of the street in charming downtown Livermore, for lunch around 12:30 on a Saturday. It was very busy, and we had to wait approximately 20 minutes to get a table. Once seated, it took our server another 10 minutes just to come over and take our order. They were clearly low on staff, but to their credit, the staff members were definitely friendly despite the rush. The food quality varied quite a bit across our table: The highlight of the meal was the Blackened Atlantic Wild Salmon, which my wife ordered. It was served over Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and roasted seasonal organic vegetables, all topped with a lemon, butter, caper, and white wine sauce. This dish was an absolute 5/5--perfectly executed. I ordered the 14 oz New York Steak with scalloped potatoes and charred organic seasonal vegetables, topped with cowboy butter. I asked for it medium-well and really enjoyed the steak, giving it a solid 4/5. My friend ordered Mama's Crispy Tacos (two chicken and one potato), which came with cotija, lettuce, avocado, crema, and pico de gallo, served alongside a spicy green salsa and pinto bean smash. They rated this a good 4/5. On the flip side, my friend also tried the Grilled Baja Prawn Tacos. Served on flour tortillas over a bed of mixed greens with pineapple salsa and chipotle sauce, this dish really lacked flavor and was a disappointing 2/5. We also started with the Seasonal Mixed Greens salad, which came with green apple slices, candied pecans, seasonal berries, and a white balsamic vinaigrette on the side. This was just okay, landing at a 3/5. Overall, Maple Street Eatery is a decent place for brunch or lunch. If the service becomes more efficient and a few of the food items are improved to match the quality of the salmon and steak, we would definitely make this a regular spot to visit.

I am so excited that this place exists, and so embarrassed that I didn't know about it sooner…read more Rosetta coffee is a great place, but four nights a week, it turns into a themed full bar. The Wife and I have been there for a couple of Flapper Fridays, which is speakeasy night. Some drinks of that ilk can be too sweet for me, since the original speakeasies were using fruit juice or whatever to mask the awful booze they had available. But you can also order off menu. The first time we went, I ordered a carrot cake that was fantastic. The second time, we ordered bites, including a pizza flatbread, golden potatoes with different accompaniments, and of course another cheesecake. The Wife was able to order cocktails and beautifully served tea! Service was excellent, as they were very accommodating, and could recommend items easily based on our discussion. Can't wait to go back for Sinatra Saturday!

Yes, I got here on a Saturday with no reservations. I definitely understood having to wait under those circumstances and I was okay with that. I was told it would be 20 minutes. What I want to focus on is that we were the next group to be seated. There was only two of us. Another group with 4 people walked in about 15 min later after us with no reservations but they were seated almost immediately. The hostess did not acknowledge us nor said anything. Awhile after that I counted 3 different groups leaving - a tota of 8 people. We waited patiently and kept waiting thinking we would be seated. 20 minutes slowly pass by, then another 5, then another 5.. I looked over and saw two tables completely empty. I was literally outside the door after about 45inutes and my phone buzzed. Come to find out that they had 3 open tables available the entire time. The decor is tiki themed along with the drinks however the music playing in the background was jazz. Not sure how that fits the theme. Also, the drinks averaged about $20 and small bites and desserts ranged from $13-$20. I'm torn about wanting to return here.
