Great Argentinean restaurant situated in downtown Pleasanton. We came in for dinner as a party of 5 and were able to get seats without needing to wait at 5:30pm on a Sunday night. We were seated in the very cute outdoor patio, there was plenty of shade so even though it was pretty warm out we were pretty comfortable. We shared the BBQ platter which was perfect for 3 meat eaters and my partner had the vegetarian mushroom pasta. The platter was great, the beef especially was perfectly medium rare and was tender thru every bite. The roasted vegetables included in the platter included Brussel sprouts and cauliflower which were also beautifully caramelized. My partner enjoyed her mushroom pasta, the ridges on the pasta absorbed every bit of the delicious white sauce. Happy to come back, I think the patio space makes it perfect for families of all ages. I don't want to be unfair but this place was not good in any aspect. The service was lacking as well as the food in flavor except for the Brussels sprouts which had the most flavor. We came in a little after opening with a reservation. No one is at the host stand when we first arrived so we just waited until someone came up close to 5 minutes. The man who helped us was nice and helpful. Considering it was not busy when we arrived the service made us feel unwelcome no one smiled! When our food arrived no one came to check on us once to ask if everything was ok and to see how everything was tasting or if we needed water. I was a little annoyed when our food first came out because we had ordered two of the short rib sandwiches and for some reason 3 came out and the waitress insisted we ordered 3. We took it and paid for it anyway. I don't think this dish was very good considering the meat was almost mush, it made me think if pulled pork and sloppy Joe made a baby this would be it. The salad came with some mayo type of dressing that wasn't good and the fries were not salted. Out of all the sauces it came with I think the cilantro aioli was the best in flavor. Again the food was just OK at best. There was something to be improved in most dishes. I think salt was needed or at least table salt provided. The beef bolognese needed some red pepper flakes in my opinion. The noodles were slightly overcooked. I think the amount of sauce to noodles was perfect and it was nice and cheesy. The risotto was just ok as well, needed salt maybe more cheese, not much umami flavor considering it was a mushroom risotto. We ordered the empanada trio, the lomo saltado, and the spaghetti carbonara all of which I have nothing special to say except why are we using Gorgonzola in an empanada?! Easily snagged a reservation for the outdoor patio on a Friday at 6pm. Not too crowded when we sat down, but it filled up by 6:30-7. The patio's a nice space, half-covered with fans, so it'll be great through summer. Service was attentive and fast, almost too fast. We ordered 2-3 apps and two entrees, and everything landed at once within 10-15 minutes. No real gap between courses, which meant no chance to actually finish the apps before the entrees showed up. But everything came out lukewarm, which was the main issue. The Brussels sprouts, meatball, and empanadas were all fairly tasty, but the meatball and empanada were room temp, which dulled the flavor. Same story with the entrees, chicken Milanesa and Lomo Saltado, both lukewarm. The Milanesa was thin, easy to eat, and the sauce worked well with it. The fries tasted frozen, not hand-cut, and on the Lomo Saltado the sauce made them soggy fast. Sauce itself ran a bit too salty. Steak in the Lomo Saltado was tender though, and generous on portion. The place is pretty small, but then you walk to the back and there's a large covered patio, and a small uncovered patio. It's very charming with various plants giving the outdoors a garden vibe. Most of the team was late by about 30 minutes for our reservation due to a prior meeting running long. The host was gracious enough to hold our reservation until everyone arrived. We started with some appetizers of Crispy Cauliflower, Habanero Fries, and Empanada Trio. They were all very yummy and were served with various dipping sauces. The empanadas had a nice crispy pastry and flavorful filling. I had the Salmon eggs benedict and really enjoyed it. The salmon was smokey, but the eggs could have been just a tad runnier. We ordered their Brusselsprouts and short rib sandwich to share and the proportions were perfect, just enough food and we didn't leave a morsel behind. We came here for our company holiday dinner, and it was a nice, cozy spot that I would recommend (at least for weekdays). Medium rare indeed was medium rare... so kudos to that! It laid on top of a bed of spinach/onion/mashed potato(?), which I thought was again, nothing spectacular. Not much flavor with the spinach, so I actually opted out of eating it. Everyone else in my party loved their entrees. I also wanted to give kudos to the waitstaff: all were extremely nice, especially our waitress. She was nice and knowledgeable about the menu. When making the reservation, I specifically noted that this was a birthday celebration and selected covered outdoor patio seating through the reservation system. When we arrived on time, we were told there were no tables available in the area your reservation platform had offered us. To make matters worse, after a staff member asked us which available table we preferred, we pointed one out, only for another waiter to immediately give that exact table away to a smaller party while we stood there as a party of six. One male waiter, approximately in his 40s with slicked-back hair, was consistently rude, dismissive, sharp in tone, and visibly uninterested in helping our table. His behavior affected our entire party and made us feel unwelcome. Management should seriously address his service etiquette and overall conduct toward guests. The most disappointing part was the complete lack of acknowledgment of my wife's birthday. Throughout dinner, we watched several other tables celebrating birthdays receive desserts and recognition from staff, while our table received absolutely nothing despite the restaurant being informed ahead of time. For appetizers, we started off with the trio of empanadas, the brussels sprouts, the french fries, and the cauliflower. The brussels sprouts and cauliflower come with a sauce on top, so would just be mindful in case you're looking for a truly healthy veggie option. The empanadas were fantastic. The cheese empanada had bleu cheese inside, which gave it a little bit of unique flavoring. For my entrée, I ordered the black ink pasta, which comes with a red marinara sauce. Usually, I am not a huge fan of marinara sauce, but the entire dish was absolutely amazing. I would eat it every day if I could, it also comes with a sizable portion of seafood, including scallops, shrimp, and mussels. My husband and I love this place and have been several times. The trick here is to be choosy with what you order. We've learned to stick with their pastas and anything Argentinian: empanadas are especially delicious, and their Carbonara is my favorite. Their burger, for example, feels like a costco pattie but I'm not too surprised as it is not a burger restaurant. Service is a bit slow, but not every time- we've had some great service maybe half the time. During our last visit, we had a waitress who almost completely ignored us until we were done with our food, despite checking on the tables next to us but avoiding eye contact or a quick check in. Had dinner reservations for a party of 6 and had to push the time back by 45 minutes the day before due to a work meeting. Changing the reservation online was easy and convenient. We arrived on time and was seated in the outdoor area instead of the covered patio as requested. Not a big deal, as they have heaters. The adult beverages were brought out but I had to inquire about 2 beverages for my children that had not been served even after we had eaten appetizers. At one point when I tried to flag down our waiter, I could not gain his attention as he walked by quickly with his back turned to my table so I had to flag down another employee to make a request. They were fairly busy and it appeared our waiter was very busy or not as attentive to us. When we ordered dessert to share, we were given extra spoons but I had to flag him down for extra plates. When I asked for to go boxes, we were given boxes but no bag for 3 boxes until we were getting up. When the bill came, I did not get an itemized receipt and had to get up to find him in order to confirm gratuity was included. My previous experiences here were good so I am not sure if this was a one off. Overall food quality and quantity was good. I would give them a solid 4. Service was 3. Items ordered: Rose sangria x2- Delicious refreshing drink with bits of fruit and good ratio of ingredients Hibiscus Vanilla Damme- Another great drink that was not overly sweet Brussel sprouts- perfectly done and seasoned Cauliflower appetizer- another solid dish with great texture and flavor Empanada trio- Light and not too much dough. Flavorful filling and sauces Meatball appetizer- paired well with tangy marinara sauce. My meatball was a little tough. Chicken Milanesa- Kiddo really enjoyed this dish and loved the fries Spaghetti Carbonara- Cheesy goodness for my cheese lover kid Tagliatelle shrimp x2- A good flavorful dish Golden cauliflower- My friend really enjoyed this dish Mar Y Tierra (Surf n turf)- 2 shrimp skewers, chorizo, and some steak cooked medium. Came with chimichurri and another sauce and plenty of veggies (brussel sprouts, cauliflower, potatoes, shishito peppers) and was enough to feed 2! Tiramisu- This was def a smaller portion compared to the last time I dined here but it was just as good as before. Brownie- def a treat and it must have been good since kiddo finished it The restaurant has a neat vibe, outdoor and limited indoor dining, and a cute seating area out front. Came in on sunday for dinner as we had resy credit and it wasn't too busy but slowly got busier. It's a cute place with indoor and outdoor seating. The hostess and server were very friendly- no complaints on the service. We ordered a couple of drinks which were all really good. For entrees we got the lomo saltaldo and chicken milanese. I enjoyed the lomo saltaldo as the meat was cooked well, but the dish overall was just too salty due to the salt on the fries and the oyster sauce. The chicken milanese was pretty good as well- it wasnt dry, but we wished it was crispier. Overall solid experience! read more

Loved this place! The atmosphere was great, and the staff made the experience even better. They did such a sweet gesture for my birthday with a special dessert -- really appreciated that thoughtful touch! We tried a few dishes and enjoyed everything. The Brussels sprouts were perfectly cooked -- not too oily and full of flavor. The salad was fresh, the garlic fries were delicious, and the veggie pasta was spot on. The bruschetta was another highlight -- crisp and fresh with great flavor. Overall, a wonderful dining experience at Brava.
