I came across L'Chayim Delicatessen during a trip this Summer and it was the perfect place to do work. When you first arrive: The inside of the restaurant is spacious and could easily accommodate smaller parties of 4 (or less). They have a lot of local art throughout the back of the restaurant. It really adds character to the restaurant. The few times I visited they were playing a lot of 2000s music which made the visit even more fun. Service: The few times I visited the staff was extremely friendly. They had no problem customizing one of the popular sandwiches to include an additional ingredient. Food: The sandwich was jam packed with deli meat. I could barely finish the sandwich because it was so think. The ingredients tasted fresh. I was easily able to get two meals from my order. I also was able to split a lox bagel with my husband in a later visit. It was jam packed with salmon so I wasn't left hungry after just half a sandwich. The lox bagel was flavorful and tasted fresh. Overall: I enjoyed my visit to L'Chayim Delicatessen especially for breakfast. The food is simple and tastes fresh. I could easily see myself visiting again in the future. read more

A small little Jewish Deli in downtown Frankfort. A very basic deli operation with like 10 tables. I ordered the Goyim sandwich on White bread. I was told they were out of prosciutto, would I be okay with Salami, eww No. The Goyim is a Ham sandwich with prosciutto, dill havarti cheese, tomato and lettuce with honey mustard. I told them just ham then since they were out of prosciutto. I got it and sat down and it was on 7 grain bread. The sandwich was good, it would have been much better on the proper bread and with prosciutto. The honey mustard is awesome! There was a lot of ham at least and the dill havarti cheese was very good. The service was okay, but the kid taking orders shouldn't be. He's not a detail oriented person. Overall a 3 1/2 star review. However I'll give the benefit of doubt and round up to 4. Would I return? We love L'Chayim Delicatessen! Everytime we come to Frankfort, we make build in time to grab some bagel sandwiches from here. Their sandwiches always have a generous serving of meat, cheese, and veggies and we often can eat it for two meals. You just have to get there early enough or else they will sell out of bagels or items. They also serve our favorite Great Lakes chips and their cookies are fabulous. read more

I'd never been to Frankfurt, we are Northern Michigan summer visitors, so we wanted to check out this lakeside town. After some time on the beautiful beaches, we made our way to town to find a bite. The reviews for this Deli were good so we stopped in. Hungry as I was, I'm glad I ordered just a half sandwich, it was enormous! The Tripoli sandwich came with salami and turkey on rye and with provolone, it was a tough first bite! But well worth it. Great ingredients make for a great sandwich. They won my heart with a great homemade chocolate chip walnut cookie. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside it was perfect! Such a great surprise I bought a second to go! read more

Somehow one of the few places that was open on bike check-in day that we thought would have a limited wait and we also wanted to eat lightly. Ordered our sandwich, told it would be a 20 minute wait, can I have the cookie please? We then walked down to the beach and enjoyed the watching the waves come in on that lovely blue water. Came back and collected our sandwich and ate on the way back to our car and jet up to Traverse City. Ohhhhhh so gooooood! Stopped in Frankfort for the night on our way to the UP, and ate here for breakfast. I had a plain bagel with scrambled egg, lox, and cream cheese. Hubs had a Reuben with no Russian dressing. Both were *amazing*. Mine was rich, the lox were smooth, I only wish I had added capers. The Reuben got rave reviews from hubs, big enough to save the other half and have it for lunch later. The person accidentally put Russian dressing on it, but noticed it and promptly made another. The store itself is no nonsense, plenty of space inside but it's clear that resources go to making excellent food. That's just fine with me! If we are back in Frankfort, we will definitely be returning. read more

They make a tasty sandwich and what makes places like this special is that they're local and family owned gems. Super cute spot. However, the way they run the operation has got to be the most inefficient nightmare I've witnessed in a while. You order, wait in line for the food to be prepped, eat, and then you get the treat of waiting in line for a second time in order to pay. We waited for about 25 minutes for 2 sandwiches. It was fine and I was understanding as it was around the lunch hour and this is a small town. But what I didn't understand was when the girl took my order, I was given a ticket and asked to wait for my sandwich. I tried to pay from the girl running the register (not the same girl that took my order. No. They have someone to take orders only and someone to take payment only. Neither person makes sandwiches) but I was told we pay after because they're too busy to take payment. THIS MAKES NO SENSE. A few people who ordered after us got their food first, so things are a bit disorganized there. Sandwiches were delicious. Then I had to wait in line for another 5 minutes to pay. There are multiple signs in the shop reminding people to pay. I HAVE AN IDEA!!!!!!!!!!! LET PEOPLE PAY WHEN THEY ORDER AND YOU CAN TAKE DOWN THE SIGNS. OMG! I handed the girl my slip, she had to dig through a pile of carbon copies to match the original and then take my payment. Will I go back? Probably, yes. Went to Beaulah for breakfast items and then to Frankfort for sandwiches. The service people were not friendly and super slow. I'm sad because I hope this is not the new norm for the business. Best bagels I've had since being in NJ! The cream cheese is clearly not "low fat" and simply delectable on both my everything bagel with lox & cream cheese as well as my cinnamon raisin bagel I had the next day. In speaking with friends, they had the curry chicken salad and I'm upset with myself that I didn't get some to go for an easy lunch. The sandwiches look amazing. The food was incredible! Sometimes the coffee at a place like this can be weak or taste burnt, but even the coffee was great. The food came out quickly and was totally satisfying. Stopped by for lunch. I pre ordered it and it was ready when I arrived. I ordered the Reuben sandwich. I live in a large city with lots of Jewish deli, so the sandwich didn't quite live up to what I get around my area, but it was not bad for a small beach town in northern Michigan. I would recommend it. Also, was able to get 2 cinnamon sugar bagels, plain bagels, and roasted Turkey for sandwiches later. Awesome spot for some Jewish deli fix in a very small town. I ordered lunch from the Frankfort location. The sandwich and soup were very good. I liked how they had a variety of veggies in the minestrone. My only complaint, and it is a big one, is the fact that the staff did not wear any gloves when they were preparing the food. This is highly unsanitary, before and especially during this pandemic. Because of this I will not order from here again, if I do it will just be for coffee or soup. I hope they read these reviews and start wearing gloves- what a shame to lose business because of a necessary and sanitary issue! read more

Went in to pick up bagels for breakfast and ended up waiting a very long time because the cashier never handed off to the counter staff. After someone coming in after got their order the cashier did notice we were still waiting for our bag of bagels and corrected things. However, there was no apology for the delay. I cannot say enough good things about L'Chayim Deli. I have been eating there since they first opened. This last Sat, several of my friend and I rode our motorcycles up from Grand Haven and were fairy cold(frozen). We arrived just before closing, yet the owner saw us and said come on in, you hungry and cold. He setup and provided the best sandwiched(Pastrami on Rye!!) and Matza soup anyone can ask for.
