I am glad I didn't read any of these reviews before going. I have been back about 6 times and I have loved every single experience. I have heard about Swedish massage but had never had one before. This was my first massage spa and I will keep going here. They are close to home and Shishi always takes good care of me. The hot oil and hot towel are amazing, and I am so impressed that such a small woman can exert such pressure on me. I always leave feeling great and yes, the tip is a bit steep, but to leave here feeling this good is worth it in my opinion. Seeing that I've been here twice in the last 3 days,I'm saddened to have to give this rating. This place is close to where I live, so I wanted nothing more than to like this place. Plus, they're reasonably priced. My first visit was okay. I was able to make an appointment without any problems. I got a 60min foot massage for $20. Uhhh...it was okay. I love the hard pressure but the masseuse had fast movements so there wasn't time for me to really relax and enjoy it. I recommend bringing cash if you want to avoid being charged $2 for a debit/credit card transaction fee or being inconvenienced with their lack of change to break a big bill for tip. I was a bit surprised that it took them 5 mins to get me change for my $20. He gave me two $10s, so I felt obligated to leave him a $10 tip just so I wouldn't have to ask for change again but now for a $10. That's a 50% tip and it wasn't even worth it. Okay, so I figured that was just a minor setback, and I wasn't completely turned off by this place considering how many people were coming and going. That's when I recommended my brothers who were visiting to give it a try. They called to make an appointment the next day for 2hour foot massages for two of them. They were taken into a room and were confused when they were asked to remove "all" of their clothes and that there were no buckets to put their feet in. They still went with it and discovered they were instead getting a table massage. They praised how good the massages were but somehow things got lost in translation because not only did they not get the foot massages they asked for but it was for one hour and not two. Well, my brother thought time just flew by and tipped her $20, but to later realize he only had a one hour massage. My back felt really tight, so this time I decided to give this place another try but do a table massage since my brothers enjoyed theirs the previous day. Well, they decided to go back with me and we agreed on doing 90mins each. I got the same masseuse. Again, great pressure but fast uncontrolled movements so I couldn't relax again. When we were leaving, my brother asked for change for tip and they handed it to the ladies working on them...but to only be ridiculed by the amount they received. Grace looked at him with disgust and proceeded to ask if there was anything wrong with the massage. He said no and that he enjoyed it, but she said the tip was too small because he tipped her $20 for an hour the previous day and today was 90mins for a smaller tip. He was humiliated because it was said in front of other workers who also looked over in disgust. She blatantly asked if he had more money. What? How can you say that? I was even embarrassed because I recommended this place. He then gave more money. Mind you, he tipped more the previous day thinking he had a 2 hour massage. This is very rude!!! 20% for services should be a reasonable tip. My brothers and I frequently get massages and we've tipped others the same amount. Today my cousin and I went here for a cheap 30 min foot massage. My cousin chose to pay with her debit card, therefore there was a 2 dollar charge. Not completely unheard of. But then, after our massages, when my cousin handed her technician a tip the lady had the audacity to first count it in front of myself and the technician who did my massage, but then to complain that it was too small. It's a $15 dollar massage, 15% is only 2.25. She told my cousin that most people tip at least $5. She made my cousin feel awful. I told the technician that she was wrong for her behavior and ensured that my cousin did not give a further tip as she had already tipped 20% on top of having to pay extra due to her form of payment. Wow is all I have to say after this experience. I've been here once before and wasn't blown away the first time I got a massage but it was at a good price. I just left after getting a 90 minute massage for $60 + $2 for credit card use. The massage was okay but incomplete. The masseuse left the room several times and finished 10 minutes early. I didn't have cash on me so I offered a tip from my credit card. She literally watched me write down how much I was going to tip. When writing $10 she rudely told me she deserve more. The ladies at this spot have a very bad habit of fussing over how much tip you leave them. First of all, I understand that it's a laborious job, so I always tip from 25%-50%. Today, I paid before the massage and left and 25% tip because of the previous experience I have already had there. She told me during the massage that I should tip her more than I did at the front desk, and I politely declined and told her that her tip would suffice. Full disclosure, this is my first massage ever in the USA. I'm 50 so I was past due. I stumbled into L Massage after leaving the nearby Sam Ash music store. For the past week, I've had serious neck and shoulder pain to the point of trouble sleeping. I knew I needed help and before leaving the music store, I searched Yelp for help. I found L Massage just down the street. I walked in and noticed a clean inviting business. I'm not good with names but the mature woman behind the counter quickly greeted me and asked me to have a seat. She walked back into one of the rooms and quickly returned to assist me. I told her about my troubles and she recommended a 30 min. massage. Well, although I don't have any previous massage experience by which to compare to, I can report that I was completely satisfied with how the masseuse massaged my back, neck, and other parts of my body. Its nice..It is painful but it's Chinese massage. So it is very different from Western massage. It is much more strenuous and powerful. It is deeply penetrating and goes into the acupuncture points and meridians, activating the Qi and Blood, and promoting circulation to speed the healing process. In short, good massage, shady business practice. My wife and I decided to come here since it is in LG where we live. To their credit, they were able to fit us in quickly without an appointment. I opted for a 60 minute full-body massage while my wife went for the split 60 full-body/ foot massage. They rang us up BEFORE the massages, which we thought was a little strange, and the woman ringing us up casually mentioned something about "including the tip afterward", which we also thought was strange. My full-body massage was good, the masseuse took her time and seemed like she knew what she was doing. Things got awkward when the massage was over, however, and she quickly asked "how would you like to pay for the tip?" I replied that I would just add it to my bill (I paid by credit card). She returned with my bill and asked how much I wanted to leave. I figured 20% was fair and told her $8 (the massage was $40). She then looked insulted and told me that "there was a different charge for using a private room" and that there was a $20 minimum tip for this. I told her that this was not listed anywhere on the price list (it clearly states $40 for full-body), but she continued to repeat the same thing. I finally got tired of arguing and just paid the $20 tip. I don't have a problem leaving someone a well-deserved tip or paying for something that I believe is worth it; however, I feel its poor business practice to demand more money from your customers when you don't tell them about "extra charges" up front. Worst massage. My husband and I went for a 1hr couples full body massage $80 $82 if you pay with card. He had a lady I had a guy. This man burped and sniffled the entire massage. At one point he left the room so he could cough. I tried to relax once he returned he began to dig his elbow in the small of my back where it tickels and you jump. Outside the door another technician walked by and belched so loud. Then they began a conversation between them in vietnamese and then both left the room. My husband and I had discussed how displeased we were with the service. They returned and continued to massage us. They continue their conversation with a few laughs and giggles in between. He did the massage which was a little weird to me since I have never had my feet massaged by a guy before.
