I am a 100% disabled U.S. Navy veteran, and my wife is also my caretaker. Given the circumstances, I called the location, spoke with Tatiana, explained what had happened, and respectfully asked if the cancellation fee could be waived as a one-time courtesy. Unfortunately, I felt Tatiana was rude, insensitive, condescending, and inconsiderate during our conversation. What bothered me most was the lack of empathy or compassion after I explained that we were out of town because of a death in our family. I asked if I could speak with a manager or district manager regarding the cancellation fee, but I was told that no manager or district manager was available for me to speak with. I served my entire U.S. Navy career in the San Diego area, and I am extremely disappointed to have this type of experience with a local business. I wasn't asking for special treatment because I am a veteran. I was asking for some understanding regarding an unexpected death in our family and circumstances beyond our control. This experience left me feeling disrespected and taken advantage of at an already difficult time for my family. Based on how this situation was handled, my wife and I do not plan to return to Massage Envy. I hope management at the Lemon Grove location and Massage Envy corporate review this situation, address the customer service concerns, and reconsider the cancellation fee.
