I came across this optometry from my insurance page and I'm really glad I did! I usually go to big optometry (L*nscraft*rs) but that day they rejected me for being 12 minutes late to my eye exam appointment (their late policy is 10 minutes). Anywho I was scrambling to find another optometry because that was the only off day from my child that I had. Found this place and they happened to have an opening that day. This place is not big but they were so efficient!!! I walked in and before I even uttered a word they already greeted me and started the form process. Mind you it was my first time there but I already felt so welcomed. I was in an out of the eye exam literally within 20 minutes and extra 10 minutes for ordering and payment. THIRTY MINUTES and I'm out of the door! I really appreciate the swiftness and the friendliness. As long as I live in the Bay Area this will be my go to optometry from now on!!! read more

I have been visiting here for a few years and purchased many good pairs of glasses and sunglasses, and did my eye check here. Their doctors and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They got a really good selection of inventory within. I got some luck with good and fitted Prada and Gucci eyewear. Their lenses are really nice too. My eye checks here have always been pleasant. I called LV optometry hoping I can get an appointment in the next few days and the receptionist was SO FRIENDLY. She worked her magic and I was actually able to get seen on the same day! I was recommended by a friend to come here and am so glad I listened! This was probably the best experience I've ever had visiting an optometrist. When making an appointment, I gave them a call and was immediately greeted by Victoria over the phone - she took down some quick new patient details and told me they had availability the following day. I also had a lot of questions regarding what my new insurance provider covered and what they didn't, and Victoria was incredibly patient and thorough with me. On the day of my appointment, Kelly helped me sign in and fill out the relevant paperwork. I had so many questions regarding the exam and services; Kelly was really kind and patient with me as well. She answered all of my questions and walked me through everything. Kelly even helped me order a few boxes of contacts with my new prescription which I was able to take home immediately after the appointment. For my exam, I expressed to Victoria that I did not feel like my previous glasses prescription was accurate. After hearing my concern, she spent a lot of time ensuring that my new prescription was accurate and fit my needs. She even walked me through the pros and cons of Ortho K and Lasik, which are two procedures that have been on my mind. Finally got my eyes checked and upgrading my eyeglasses. I really had a wonderful experience from this LV Optical, from securing an appointment and all through out the process from eye testing/diagnostics to fittingnof my eyeglasses and contacts....the people there are so helpful and efficient. The only reason why I did not give them 5-stars was because of their limited selection for eyeglasses/frames. I hope they would offer more frame options (styles and designer brands) and update some of the styles that they offer. read more

LV Optometry used to be good but not anymore. I've been to the shop for a number of years for eye examination and bought glasses and sunglasses from them over the years. However, their latest prescribed eye glasses left much to be desired. Went in for the yearly eye exam. The sister doing the exam came back from lunch late, rushed through the exam, and moved on to the next customer. I was ushered to buy the glasses frame with the other sister. Ok, fine. I supposed they're professional and could get thing done quickly. I ordered one pair of glasses. My left and right eyes had uneven degrees of myopia and needed different adjustment for the lenses to compensate each other. When I came in to pick up the new glasses they prescribed for me, I immediately found one lens to be blurry. I let one of the sisters know. She asked the other one, came back saying there's the correct prescription, that I would get used to it after wearing for a while. I went outside into the car looking around far and near. The uneven blurs still bothered me. I went back inside the shop to told them that I thought it would bother my driving. I intended for them to check the glasses and sent it back to add half or one notch if needed, but they insisted it's the correct prescription and wearing it for a while would get used to it. I got the feeling that they were annoyed with the potential rework. Well, I didn't like rework neither. Anyway, I tried like they suggested to "get used" to it but it never work. COVID time and I didn't bother to go back. The expensive glasses ended up in the shelf. These days it seems they're just happy to push glasses sales more than anything else. read more

Recently I noticed my vision getting blurry at night and in bad lighting. Unfortunately for me, 90% of my life seems to revolve around places with bad lighting whether it's at work or at the gym or at most restaurants. In order to prevent any further potential wrinkles around my eyes from squinting, I decided to go find some glasses to help me out. The options in San Mateo are highly rated, but a little limited too (closed Mondays, limited selection of frames, etc.). To make my choice I looked at not only the Yelp ratings, but also things like hours and accessibility. There's a place near me that serves frozen yogurt in addition to optometry services, but that seems a little gimmicky, right? I called up L V Optometry and made an appointment based on the stellar reviews. Victoria answered the phone and set a date for me the very next day and also checked my insurance coverage over the phone to make sure I was covered. L V is in a small strip mall with some Chinese restaurants and a Yumi yogurt (guess I can't get away from froyo! lol!). The store is small, but very well organized with a great selection of frames. Dr. Lily and Dr. Victoria are sisters and two of the nicest people you could possibly imagine! They're very patient and professional and talked me through all the costs and procedures they were going to perform during my checkup. I never felt like I was being rushed and I learned a lot about the various processes as each part of the checkup progressed. After a battery of tests (everything from vision tests to glaucoma and high resolution pictures to determine the health of the eyes), we determined that my eyes weren't nearly as bad as I thought they were (apart from some astigmatism that's related to earlier RK), so Dr. Lily gave me two different prescriptions for reading glasses and something to wear in the evenings while I'm driving. Again, I wasn't sold up on anything or pressured into anything. They gave me all the information I could possibly need and together we came up with the solution that would best fit my needs. I ended up going with just some glasses for driving at night. They should be pretty cool since Dr. Victoria looked up a photo of "This American Life's" Ira Glass (my idea of cool glasses) and then we looked for some comparable frames. I cannot recommend this place highly enough! It's the kind of business that deserves to flourish and be successful! I can't wait to go pick up my new glasses in a couple of weeks! Let me list the reasons why: - Thorough with check-ups - Responsive and quick via email - SO SWEET and nice - Skilled at their practice - Accommodating with both schedules and insurance! A simple story will explain how awesome they are. I got an eye infection from wearing a pair of contacts (2 week disposables) too long/rubbing my eyes/falling asleep with them in my eyes. I had to go to Great America the following week and I wanted me eyes to heal in time because I didn't want to risk my glasses flying off my face while on the roller coasters. Dr Victoria offered to see me at a short notice. She prescribed eye drops and made sure she included the generic brand to save me money! The following week, she recommended that I have a quick checkup (early morning) before heading to the park. When I got there, she provided me with two different pairs of dailies that were the most comfortable, high end brand they offered just so my eyeballs could be comfy and germ free! :) love them. I recommended that my parents and boyfriend see them also! read more

The workers here are pretty friendly. Didn't have an appointment but they did take me in as a "walk-in" last minute. Did feel a little rush during the exam...could have spent more time as I wasn't too sure if they where accurate or not. Didn't feel pressure to make a purchase after the exam. My Fiance found LV Optometry on Yelp. I came with him during his first appointment, and really glad I did. During that time I was a Lens Crafters patient and their service is excellent. However, I noticed that LV Optometry had a very personable approach in helping their patients needs. With that being said, I made an appointment with Dr. Feng after my Fiance's successful check up. Dr. Victoria Feng is amazing! I love her bubbly and sweet personality. You can observe that she really cares about her patients. Started seeing LV optometry about a year ago. I think the sisters are great optometrists. They are very personable and engaging. I had an eye exam with them a while back and Dr. Lily was very thorough and explained the meaning of the results. She's very enthusiastic about eyes and I think she's relatively conservative in her approach. The sisters have a very small operation in Millbrae. I think its the smallness of this operation that makes this clinic so appealing. They truly give you that one on one attention. They also have an impressive selection of frames and sunglasses. THEY ARE AMAZING! I have a 12 year old son who was in desperate need of new glasses. I knew off hand that my insurance covered $115 for frames and I was determined to find frames within that price range. FYI: I'm cheap I called Costco and target and was told that they where out of network with my insurance. Costco and target explained that I would pay fully for the glasses and then get reimbursed by my VSP insurance. Being that I have two kids and work full time I found that to be to much of a hassle. Who wants to sit on the phone wit insurances and who knows if they'd reimburse the full amount. Still being determined to find the cheapest set of glasses I called two other private offices, told them my price range and was told that they only had 3 frames to select from. Then I came across LV and was told that they had a huge variety and to come check them out without a appointment. Today I went with my son and found two amazing sets each for 75$ and I was getting ready to schedule a appointment when the MD told us "why wait we'll take you guys now".1 hour later my some chose his glasses with a 10 dollar co pay. So a little advise to everyone. Don't go for brand name frames. All that money your paying is for the brand name to be printed on your frame. All frames are the same either plastic or metal. I recently came here to get my annual check up, even though it has been a few years. Lily and Victoria are very friendly and very knowledgeable when I did my check up. I did all my tests in this one appointment, which prior, I had to do a couple. They also have a great selection of frames on display. With the eye exam, they were very thorough.. which I really like. They have good prices and obviously if you have insurance, it is pretty much covered. Location is easy to find off El Camino. Parking might be a challenge at times as they share the parking lot with a few busy businesses, but not impossible. read more

The good: Both optometrists are unbelievably friendly and warm, remember everything about you, and are so polite that you think you've entered some period drama piece. The bad: They upsold me to $600 glasses when I all I needed was the $7 reading glasses that costco sell. I went to two ophthalmologists later for other issues and both confirmed that my astigmatism and farsightedness were so minor as to not be worth addressing. My own experience with the super-glasses was the same - they were no good. I have no confidence now that their optometry practice is not compromised by their business in selling expensive glasses. read more

My son got his classes a little over 18 months ago. The eye checkup and new glasses went well with no issues. Recently, he noticed some scratches on the lens. My health plan covers lens every year so we contacted the store about getting replacement lens. The person at the counter said they would not replace the lens until they recheck his eyes again. The prescription states its good for two years and my son said he sees fine. We didn't see a need to have his eyes checked for the lens replacement. We will be looking elsewhere for the lens. read more

It takes at least an hour for an eye exam.. not like at target which takes, what? 10mins? Was going to wait till next month when my insurance resets so I can buy new lenses, but I emailed the doctor, and she said they would get them replaced without Transitions for FREE. They work with you to make sure you get the most out of your insurance coverage. They even offered to check the vision of our four year old who has special needs since it was covered by insurance, and I have never seen my daughter cooperate so well with any kind of doctor. They were able to seamlessly do her check up, and we even got her a pair of sunglasses that were covered by our insurance. If you have been putting off getting your eyes checked if you don't like doctors or for whatever other reason, I really recommend coming here.
