They were amazing. I needed blinds to be custom made and installed in four windows that were not standard size. This company gave me the best price, and the quality of their service was top-notch. Their salesperson came first and gave me a reasonable quote that the company stuck to. For a little bit more, they also installed a couple of curtain rods that I had bought. The two employees who came to do the installations were very friendly and hyper-competent. I was impressed with their knowledge, intelligence, and problem-solving skills. They not only did the installations well, they solved or foresaw problems that would have otherwise created difficulties in the future. Highly recommend LWP for custom window screens! I'm in a rental that didn't have screens in any of the windows and my building management refused to pay for custom screens. So after 2 summers of using store bought, clunky, ugly, self-adjusting screens and STILL having assorted critters sneaking in I decided to have my own made. They provide 2 pricing options - 1. They come to you to measure then deliver and install for an additional service fee 2. Or, you can call, provide your own measurements and pick up when ready. I chose the latter because it was significantly cheaper ($200)! PLEASE NOTE- measurement process is tricky if you don't know where to measure, plus no refunds if you measured wrong! Luckily, I borrowed my neighbor's screens to bring in and measure against. Even if you choose option 1, LWP gave me the best quote over 4 other companies I called. For 4 double-hung style window screens, I was quoted between $600-$1000 compared to LWP's quote of $450 for an in-home visit. Nancy and Marisol are so patient and helpful with explaining the process. Mike did an AMAZING job on fabricating. The materials are professional looking, seamless and exact! They look great and really improve my quality of life! We needed a new front door and it seemed no one in South Brooklyn wanted to sell one to us. Robert at LWP took the time to explain that because our door opening was a couple inches narrower than the typical front door opening, our options were limited. Robert helped me find a door that looked good and fit. The Provia door did take longer to arrive than expected (due to winter 2020-21 supply chain issues) but Robert consistently kept me updated on the status and what the supplier was saying. The install team installed the door today -- it looks FANTASTIC! They went above and beyond with ensuring the door functioned as expected and it LOOKS GOOD, including painting all the screws and all the detail bits you don't notice unless they are awry. They replaced the interior molding and it looks perfect. They are true craftsmen and we recommend them. read more

They said they would have the service department call us and 2 months later we are still waiting for their call. Finally found another service and they were great. Communication with Robert has been excellent. He came over my house and gave me his honest opinion and options to fix my air draft issue on the window. Explained that the is nothing wrong with my windows except that the material conducts cold air easier and causes the air to come in. Explained that the material was the cause of the air draft and said vinyl may stop it but there is no gauruntee. read more

To steal a quote from another review I recently wrote... LWP Home Products = "why you should skip the big box mass retailers and patronize smaller, family-owned businesses." Went to LWP to order a custom glass enclosure for my recently renovated bathroom. I left with a custom glass enclosure for the bathroom; three Hunter Douglass Modern Roman Shades for our living/dining rooms; and two top-down honeycomb shades for an upstairs bedroom. Richie Basile-- whose family has owned the business for years--is a fantastic salesman... which is to say, he's not so much a "salesman" as he is an expert on the products he sells, which is a plus in my book (although, I did get a little tingly when he pitched us on the remote control option for the Hunter Douglas shades.....) The attention and service we received from Richie and his staff made all the difference.... it was a stark contrast to the "service" we would have received at Lowe's or Home Depot, where you're often lucky just to flag down an employee who can actually answer your questions. Even the guys who performed the installation were nice as can be, and spent the extra few minutes to get the job just right rather than rush out to the next gig.... I'm a BIG fan of LWP! read more

Had 4 windows installed and 2 were defective and had to be replaced immediately. 3rd window having the same exact issue right out of warranty and the owner Robert yelling at me refusing to wave the $175 fee for him to come look at it even though it's the same EXACT issue as the other 2 windows then hung up on me. From day one the person on phone was rude scheduling initial appointment. Whatever. She had a bad day, probably or maybe doesn't normally interact with people. Day two the guy comes to measure, doesn't arrive in time, when does come and I'm not home, I get scolded like a child by the same phone lady. Day three- takes 4 days to get an estimate. Another 4 days to schedule installation. 6 weeks for door to arrive. The exterior gate Arrives damaged- which is only discovered after the workmen are already here for two hours. No apologies from main office just "it happens, I'm losing time and money too" to their credit they gave me the credit of the deposit when I canceled the order. Too bad because I have three more exterior doors to purchase and a friend who needs some also. Tried to shop local. Sorry. read more

We've used LWP for replacement windows and shades since 1987. The few problems we've encountered were dealt with professionally. The only negative thing I might say would be that intra-staff communication could be improved--not everybody always gets the same message. But we just got new shades and I'm certain that when it comes to new windows we'll be ordering from them again. read more

You would expect that because they charge so much they would be top notch, not so. Placed an order 5 weeks ago, was told early on that it would take 4 to 6 weeks for windows to arrive. I called on the 5th week and the woman who answered the phone (Nancy) told me that she had no idea when my windows were going to arrive. I was very annoyed by this, how can they expect a customer to accept an answer like" "I have no idea". I payed for 50% of the order! I pressed for more information, no way was I accepting "I have no idea". Was pulled on hold and was given a date. read more

This review will be updated when the final result is finished, however I thought it best to post this now: so four weeks ago (4/9-ish) my dog broke the front window. We called lucky windows and they came April 16th to measure etc. They stated it'll be ready in "2-3 weeks." Alright great, we paid them half...approx $195. Two weeks go by, we call them: no not ready, alright great. We didn't have time to call at week 3, so now at week 4 we called again and Lo and behold they had the wrong address on file ad window isn't ready. We had to call them back to correct this mistake, and we are still waiting on the window. I will update this review as we go along, though a more proactive response by lucky would have been appreciated. Let's see how they handle this now, and I will provide an accurate review when completed! read more

Can't say enough about this great, local, long established business! I got a recommendation from a neighbor for a place to do my window repairs. After that place came and gave me an estimate of $1400 for repairs to 12 windows ( all seemed to need parts and 1 needed new double pane glass). I thought I was paying way too much, maybe because we live in Boerum Hill???...anyway, that just didn't sound reasonable. Called LWP, as they did repairs on my son's windows in Staten Island and did a nice job with them. Two great young guys came right on schedule, evaluated them, and said, no problem: We even have the parts with us today. They began to clean, lubricate and adjust all the windows, making notes of any parts that were needed to be replaced. In a short while, all the windows were working well! And the entire job with parts, service charge, and new glass for the 1 window was only about $350 !!!! This is the kind of business you want to deal with! Honest, up-front, and reasonable. I needed a blackout shade for my bedroom window because it is exposed to early morning sunlight. I'm a light sleeper, and during the spring and summer I don't want to wake up at dawn. LWP did a great job helping me select a blackout shade. Their technician installed it. I had been through the process a few years earlier with another company. However, problems with my building's pointing and the resulting water damage led to my needing a new shade once all the re-pointing and re-plastering was complete. I called LWP. The LWP tech installed the shade in a safer position than had been the case with the previous company. The LWP tech clearly explained why he did what he did, which I think is great. They were installed wrong and they didn't care, once they got paid the full balance they didn't follow up on coming to fix what was done wrong! Very bad customer service! read more

Bad experience with this company. They told us a certain Andersen patio door couldn't be used for our patio but I told him when I checked with the manufacturer they said it could. The man lost his temper and acted like "how dare I question his expertise." The other company we wound up using, Arco Window, explained calmly and clearly after checking with their distributor, that that model would not work because of a certain reason. When we finally got a quote from LWP, it was the same price as Arco, but for a model that cost half the price, so they were adding a huge markup. read more

I just used LWP to replace all the windows in my Park Slope brownstone apartment, and am totally pleased. The office contact, Marisol, was competent and professional, arranging convenient appointment times for measurement and installation. The same person (Fred) both measured the windows and returned to install them, thus insuring an accurate fit. Fred and his helper were pleasant and professional. They worked carefully and neatly, and cleaned up thoroughly when they were done, even vacuuming the hallway and stairs. The windows they recommended were Champion 2500 aluminum, white inside and bronze outside, with heavy-duty 'pet screen' at no extra cost. They look great and function beautifully. read more

We first contacted LWP when we were in the middle of renovating our bathroom and realized that the window would have to be replaced. We were worried that this would delay the tiling work, since the window is above the tub. Troy came right away and framed the opening and indicated exactly where the contractor should line up the tiles. When the window arrived Troy slid it in from outside and it was perfect. We went back to LWP when we needed a storm door and Fypon trim around our front door. The doors they carry are great quality. We were very happy with the whole job. read more

I bought a black-out shade from another dealer. While the shade was still under warrantee, the mechanism developed a problem. The original dealer did not respond to my calls. But LWP responded. They did a fine job repairing the shade. read more

I knew I needed personal service to put blinds on our historic windows with stained glass casements. I also needed expert advice on how to put dividers into our all open first floor so part of it could be closed off for guests when necessary. Finally, I wanted to address the issue of cold air coming through the historic windows in the winter. Richie and his staff worked with me through several visits and iterations and the results, while not cheap are fantastic. The result on the stained glass window is that you would never know the insulated blind is there when pulled up; it blends right into the frame and does NOT hang down into the stained glass windows. The camouflage could not be better. And when pulled down the honeycomb blinds are very elegant and should make a noticeably difference in the winter. For room dividers we decided on a relatively inexpensive solution of blackout roller shades. Again, you would never know they are there when pulled up. read more

I went with them on the advice of a design professionals. I got up-sold at a two-hour home consultation, with no suggestion that there were lower priced options. Went to showroom, where I was treated with distracted service. Found a cheaper option. Installation day: lo and behold, the wrong measurements. I wasnt home when the workmen came. They left cheap paper shades in the window and it took LWP 36 hours to call me. While they were on site, the installation team wanted to know who'd done the measurements (one of their owners). When I finally was contacted by LWP, their staff person didnt have a date for when correct shades would be coming in. She wasnt concerned about taking responsibility or expressing genuine concern about the errors (how a co-owner can be on site for two hours and take incorrect measurements). As of now, still behind glorified post-it notes for window shades, waiting for an update about when the original shades might come in. They have half down as a deposit, so our hands our tied. Over-worked, low-quality small business. read more
