I've been living just a stone's throw away from La Baja Cevicheria for over eight years, but for some reason, it had never really caught my attention. That was until the day I stopped to get gas at the station next door and finally decided to take a walk over to check it out. Now, I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner - it's been a game-changer. I've been really impressed with the food here, especially their Ensenada-style tacos - they're a highlight. And if you time your visit right, like on Taco Tuesday, you can get two tacos for just $5, which is a pretty great deal. Since my first visit, I've actually ended up going back a lot, and at this point, I've probably tried about 80% of the menu. Luckily, I haven't had a disappointing experience yet, which is saying something. So, if you're new here, I'd say start with the Ensenada-style tacos, they're a great way to get a feel for the place. read more

Won't make this long. This place hits the spot. Most definitely have been coming here for about a year already. They never disappointed. The food is fresh and delicious. Service is always great. These past couple of times the family I have been there a young man at the cashier has been on it. The ambiance is good I would say not much they have music but not loud at all were it's annoying. Last minute find didn't disappoint.... Was getting a massage down the street at My Touch and wanted something new and landed here. Place was clean, staff was welcoming, and had various sports and music playing. We ordered a ceviche, fish taco and fried shrimp tacos. We got the tropical ceviche, which was solid. The taco was not that good, the fish had a weird taste to it and everything together just didn't work. The agua chile was really good and I loved that the gave you extra salsa on the side in case you wanted to make it spicier. The asada fries according to my nephew said it was good. The cocktail was also ok but it needed a lot of added items to make it taste good. Over all the food was good but I think I would come back for the agua chile. I came in for Taco Tuesday. I ordered a shrimp taco and a fish taco for $5. I also ordered 3 Asada tacos for $5. I liked the shrimp taco more than the fish. The Asada tacos were really good. We finally tried La Baja on a recent Friday for lunch. We both ordered the same Taco combo which consisted of a fish and shrimp taco along with beans and rice. There was a good amount of protein in both varieties and filled out with some veggies and sauce. They were both very flavorful and good value for the prices. Service was at the counter and very friendly/efficient. The ambiance is nothing memorable, but the place was very clean on lots of seating for those not doing take out. We would love to come back to try the ceviche next time as there seems to be a great variety of options. Give this place a try! read more

I honestly had no idea this place existed until a recent Yelp search when we were craving tacos. To our surprise, it was nearby. Located in an older plaza, the interior is new, clean, and inviting. There are lots of large TVs, so it would be a great spot to hang out and watch games. The food was excellent. Small hole in the wall in the strip mall behind the chevron station, i had friends recommend this place and decided to give it a try. Service was excellent, i went around 2:30 and nobody was in there, the cashier was friendly and answered all my questions about portions and the food itself. The restaurant is small but with seating and they have soccer and other sports playing on the TVs. Portions are pretty good, i got 2 orders or shrimp ceviche and 2 orders of the aguachile shrimps. My favorite of the two is the shrimp ceviche for sure, but i loved the spice of the aguachiles. Because of portions, i might have over done it, i think 1 and 1 of each would have been more than enough. For my order today i spend 62.00 bucks , which at first i wasn't ok with but the portions do justify it compared to other places. Flavor is good, and was filling. Man... I had high hopes for this place being close to me and all. Unfortunately, it wasn't a 5 star place in my opinion. My friends and I wanted to try out this place. I looked on Yelp and a picture of the menu from 5 months ago showed tacos at $2.99 each. Decent price. I got there and noticed the price went up tremendously. Same taco that used to be $2.99 is now $4.25 each. Yikes. Nearly a 50% markup in less than 6 months. That was my first disappointment. I ordered both the fried fish burrito and the fried shrimp burrito along with a chicken quesadilla. Since I did takeout, I didn't check my order until I got home. Come to find out, I got a cheese quesadilla with no meat. I called them and they mentioned that they remembered me ordering the chicken quesadillas but they accidentally rang up a cheese one. Quite honestly, I wouldn't pay for the cheese quesadilla since I can easily make it myself. Not worth $7 or whatever it was. The person on the phone apologized but that was it. No offer to make things right. No offer to come by and have them remake it. That was disappointing. Lastly, the burritos were fine, but that's about it. 3/5 stars at best. Maybe it was my fault for getting the fried fish and fried shrimp burritos, but it didn't have the fried crunch that I'd expected from a fried fish or shrimp burrito.
