We wandered from the Borghese Gardens toward the catacombs of Priscilla and stopped here for lunch. Clearly family owned and operated with authentic italian fare. I believe the elderly gentleman who waited on us was the owner. I had the stewed artichoke, carfocio alla romana, and it was delicious. I also had a delicious housemade gnocchi with tomato sauce. The best dish was my husband's housemade lasagna. All other patrons were Italian. Felt like a real Italian experience. If you are in the vicinity, you should dine here.

    Fungi pasta

Arriving in Rome on Easter, we weren't sure what would be open. So I booked this place via email. They were very responsive and accommodating. Turns out, a 6:30 reservation is so early that there was no need for one - our arrival was before they even turned the dining room lights on! Alas, the food was mediocre at best. The bread was stale and the pasta as uninspiring as the service. Our dishes included the funghi pasta and lasagna (the night's special). So disappointing.

Passed this spot on the way back to the hotel and thought I need to try and returned to find a…read moresmaller almost "hole in the wall" space with an extensive variety of specialty pie options and some fun signs posted-ie "If you ask me for ketchup and mayonnaise I'll call the police!!." They have a small pizza and a bigger size which I would say is about 10 inches. The small size was sold out on my first visit and found out better to arrive earlier (before 6) for these. The Mini pies are good if you want to try a few varieties-so many so little time. Ordered the big Amatriciana (the unloved pasta dish of the big Roman four as a pizza) which was recommended-Pecorino, mozzarella with the Pork cheeks taking it over the top-one of their most popular and rightfully so! On the second visit , they had the small size pies-Friarielli & Salsiccia-Broccoli Rave and sausage-tasty, Fegato & Cipolla-pork liver sausage with onions and peppers made for a "not everyday" and delicious pie. Both visits service was excellent and engaged. This place screams independent and one of a kind but it turns out they are a regional chain with a handful of locations. Amazing pizza with so many options!
